Any advice on managing speculating colleagues/classmates?

I'm in final year of university studying medicine and due about 3 weeks before some major exams. I'm generally a private person and last week revealed (via a whatsapp group) to some friends that I was pregnant - I figured at 17 weeks, I was running out of time to disguise it. I feel a bit silly now for asking them to not discuss it outside the group as now it feels like my entire class knows and is speculating about my exams and if I'll be able to sit them etc. My partner and I are so excited to have this baby but this just feels like such a dampener. I know they'll just get over it but I hate the idea of being talked about. Can't decide if it's too late to go back to that whatsapp group and ask that they don't discuss my pregnancy with people (in a nice way, just say I need to tell some family members first) or should I just ride it out.

Thanks ladies it's nice to know it's not just me with the loo although sorry you're all suffering too!!

@starrrgazer maybe the easiest thing is to just tell everyone to stop the speculation?!

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 08/11/2018 21:06

Interesting @Jess21690

@starrrgazer if it’s any consolation I am talk of the school gates and I have hardly told anyone - apart from their kids who clearly told their mums. It’s no-one’s business but yours... I’m sure they’ll move on and start gossiping about something else at some point. Ignore them.

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 08/11/2018 21:07

Sorry clearly I mean I told my kids not their kids...

italianwifey · 08/11/2018 22:10

@albagirl8 so exciting about the movements! I’m going to try the music thing and see if it works haha!
Someone mentioned dried milk on their nipples - I’ve noticed sometimes mine look dry, like a little flaky but am now wondering if it wasn’t dry skin but dried milk?!?

Hopeislost · 09/11/2018 15:23

@italianwifey That was me. And yes, it could well be dried milk!

Annie264 · 09/11/2018 16:50

Hi ladies, for any bigger girls out there I've just got some maternity jeans from love yours and they are so comfy! They also have some bits and bobs in the sale too!

39Suzy · 09/11/2018 17:03

Shining a torch on your belly can make baby move too as they are light sensitive even if their eyes are still fused.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 09/11/2018 18:06

How’s everyone feeling today? I’ve been really nauseous and down in the dumps, but no real reason for it Sad

italianwifey · 09/11/2018 20:00

Sorry to hear that @frazzyandfrumpled :-( can you do something nice to treat yourself and cheer yourself up? Me and OH are getting a takeaway tonight I think!

italianwifey · 09/11/2018 20:02

@frazzyandfrumpled apologies for my moronic comment, obviously you are not going to fancy a takeaway if feeling nauseous!!! Sorry for the insensitivity, it’s been a long day!

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 09/11/2018 20:45

italianwifey Grin funnily I fancied a curry earlier for a few minutes... then the thought of actually eating it put me off! Enjoy your takeaway.

Treaclepie19 · 09/11/2018 21:06

FrazzyAndFrumpled sorry to hear that :(

I've been a little down today.
We do have a scan on Monday with fetal medicine though to look in detail at baby and check the heart and everything for abnormalities. So I'm trying to keep positive.

Has anyone started to look at prams yet?

Griffer · 10/11/2018 14:29

@Buttons28 we've decided on a pushchair already. We've had to be quite specific because we want to do off-road running with it (once baby is old enough) and there's a ft difference between us in height so it's got to be right for off-road and good handle extension. Going for Out n about nipper sport, waiting for a second hand one to go on ebay!
We'll use a carrier /harness until it's old enough for the pushchair (it's not suitable from birth). Would love a pram too but need to be sensible with money.

natitate · 10/11/2018 16:25

Hi everyone... I’m due on April 23rd 2019 with my first baby! We find out tomorrow through private early gender scan what we’re having and I’m so excited I could burst!

Footymum81 · 10/11/2018 22:59

@Buttons28 we’ve been fortunate enough to have been given a second hand Silver Cross pushchair/pramette to be our ‘big pram’ and we’ve chosen the Joie Pact as our lightweight stroller. We don’t drive so will be using public transport and it folds up easily and compactly and is very light.

Treaclepie19 · 10/11/2018 23:41

We're reusing our Armadillo flip xt :)

monkerina · 11/11/2018 07:52

We're reusing our Joie Chrome (and swapping cars because my i20 doesn't fit two car seats and the pram/buggy!), I've got a new ergobaby carrier from a sling group that closed down to replace my knackered ergo knockoff, and need to get a buggyboard 😊

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 11/11/2018 08:34

@Treaclepie19 we’ve got the same one and will be reusing it for the new baby. I love it!

Hoping to get away with not having to buy a double buggy by putting baby in a sling when DS wants to rest, but will see how it goes when baby is here. DS1 is only 2 (well 2 on Thursday!) so doesn’t walk far atm.

Treaclepie19 · 11/11/2018 08:54

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 we love it too :) I'm going to get a buggy board for our DS but he's going to be 3.7 when baby arrives.
