Hi ladies,
Haven't been posting bc it's all I can do to keep up with all you're going through! Individual responses are just beyond me at this point...
I did want to share something I found out yesterday, as it seems important, especially for anyone wanting to avoid chemical induction.
If your waters break, according to the guidelines, you have up to 96 to go into labor on your own. Most women will go into labor within 24 but some do not.
Hospitals will tell you that they want to induce you after 24 hours, due to risk of infection. Here's the thing. If they give you an internal to see where you're at, they have effectively moved the bacteria from the front of your vag to the back. Now, according to the guidelines, you need to go into labor within 24 hours or should be induced.
Does that make sense?
So if you're keen on avoiding induction, and your waters break but you do not go into labor, the advice I got was as long as the waters are clear, stay home. Do not let anyone give you an internal.
Tis what I heard in my NCT antenatal class.
