firststar lol at the comment about tennis ladies
yes getting a seat would of been far more helpful!

twoplusone · 20/06/2007 14:54

AN hour at nip flicking, and twidling, mine hurt if they are touched for longer than 5 secs,, I am sure dh wopuld love to have an excuse for sitting twiddleng them for an hour..... But surely this will only work too if your body is ready.. maybe you are getting ready to start jennster...

Re the swallowing the semen gets into your system quicker and easier via swallowing hence why it is supposed to work better... the pessaey used for induction is probably a much higer dose than our hubbies could give us!!!

Myfairone · 20/06/2007 15:32

Afternoon all, Im celebrating the fact that I managed to eat two pieces of toast! Could I have a round of applause please? Thank you

My lovely Mummy turned up today and did my ironing and made me smile a few times so I feel a lot better than I did this morning...

After all my whining about work I was kind of dissapointed to get this tummy bug in my last week because it means that I am now officially off!
My manager was great and said that I could go straight from sick to my leave so didnt lose any time either!

Hi Kittenbaby, welcome...I'm not normally this miserable by the way! Just trying to cope with gastroentiritis as well as being 34+3 weeks pregnant. Also first child and I don't know the sex.

Hope you are all well and enjoying more than dry toast!

twoplusone · 20/06/2007 15:42

myfairone- A big round of applause from me hun

Glad you are feeling a bit better..

bilblio · 20/06/2007 15:43

Weddingcake - Congratulations! At this rate there aren't going to be many of us left by July

Beyonceen - I was told at 20 weeks that my placenta was low so this scan for 36 weeks was booked so they could see if it had moved. My midwife described it as drawing a dot on a balloon so as I got bigger the placenta should move up.
So the good news is yes they can move, the bad news is if you've only just been told about it I don't know how likely is is to move now.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Pookey - sorry to hear you aren't getting the birth you wanted though. Don't worry too much about the hospital though, just make sure you and others around you take precautions like washing your hands. As Caroline says MRSA is a very common bug which many people carry without doing any harm, it's only when very ill people, or those with open wounds get it that it becomes a danger (my infection control training is actually useful ) My hospital has a terrible reputation, inquest, inquiries, headline news, but it's only on certain wards, the maternity section is excellent but that rarely gets mentioned. I'm sure Kim & Aggie picked the bad wards to focus on too.

I can't remember who mentioned the raspberry leaf tea tablets, but thanks for the tip. I tried some apple and raspberry leaf tea drink last night. Drinking 3 cups a day will be a chore, I did manage to drink it eventually by adding honey and letting it cool down, but I think I'll ask if he's got any tablets instead.

Congratulations on your 2 pieces of toast Myfairone. Is tea tonight 3 pieces?

Also welcome to the thread KittenBaby.

Myfairone · 20/06/2007 16:29

Thanks for the encouragement ladies...sadly the toast didn't stay with me for too long though

The doctor has assured me that the diaralyte is sufficient to feed me and the baby so I guess I just have to rest up and let it take its course!

Yep I am now officially on leave and have 7 months to worry about going back!

I am due 29th July so I hope that you don't all forget about me sitting over here on this thread alone!

Good luck to all those that are due fairly soon....remember if Jamantha can do it on 2 para's so can we!!! hehehehehee.

Firststar - if we time it right we could be going to the other thread together!

You finishing up this week? Chooster, your done on Friday right?

typhoonsmum · 20/06/2007 17:52

myfairone. I'm also due 29th so I'll be sitting there with you. You won't be alone.

JennsterFrogLover · 20/06/2007 18:18

2+1 I still don't buy it! Swallowing something that has to go through the digestive system before it gets absorbed into the blood before it gets to the cervix, when it is conveniently deposited where it's meant to be the other way...And if a prostaglandin is a protein (can't work that out) then it would be destroyed in gut anyway.

MelissaM · 20/06/2007 18:24

Hi and welcome Kittenbaby. I too am taking raspberry leaf tablets in the hope they will shorten labour! This is my first too. I don't know what I am having and am 37+2.

Jam - like the tennis story!

Definitely going to give the swallowing a miss! I'd heard that you need to have sex at least 3 times (and both enjoy it) within 24 hours. As dh and I haven't even managed to spend a whole night in the same bed yet this week, I think this amount of sex is unlikely! Thinking about it - why am I the one that keeps ending up on the sofa?!

Sorry your toast didn't stay put myfairone. Rest up and enjoy your matleave.

Beyonceen yes the placenta can move. Mine was right across my cervix but is high now. Hope yours moves too.

Probably a bit early to be thinking about post-pg clothes, but found some great vest tops and t-shirts in gap today with buttons down the front (that actually undo). I bought 4 as I haven't seen any nice b'feeding tops anywhere yet. Not sure I needed the 2 pairs of shoes and the shades though!

MelissaM · 20/06/2007 18:25

Jennster you know far too much biology! I'm not buying the swallowing for a whole different reason! (yuck)

I went swimming today too Kittenbabe. Would have been great had it not been for the school swimming lessons. I know they have to learn how to swim, but they seemed to spend the whole hour on the side of the pool shouting HELP! Not sure I ever got shouting lessons when I went swimming with the school.

Oh to go for a swim. To feel weightless and have no pressure on my hips and knees!

Alas, my swimming costume has disappeared in to he abyss that is my house and hasn't been seen in six months.

Curses!

Agnes

Myfairone · 20/06/2007 22:08

Thats just ridiculous spending all that money on a cake! Its flour, milk and an egg! So much more fun to make your own OR get one from M&S or the like!

Even reading about swallowing is making me gag!!!!

Well the toast didnt last but I did manage a bowl of cereal....I had to eat it slowly but so far so good..Seeing the doctor again tomorrow and hoping I can stop this diaralyte stuff...nasty!

Typhoonsmum - Sorry I didnt realise you were on the bottom of the stat list too! We shall all keep each other company then...

Im attempting bed now...anyone else get really sick of not being able to turn over properly? I just dont seem to be able to get comfy and I cant remember who said it but I have been permanently moved to the spare room where I share a double bed with a snoring dog!

bilblio · 20/06/2007 22:31

£127!!! My mum needs to up her prices, she makes the most delicious chocolate cakes for friends and only charges a fiver.
Personally I'm all for stinginess... not that I've much choice mind

We've been on a tour of the labour wards tonight. I've decided I'm going to ask if I can have midwifery led care. Their room is much smaller, but it's got pictures, a normal bed, a decent shower, and a 1:1 midwife. The normal rooms seem so... clinical. Plus there were 3 midwives to the 9 patients, okay it was a very busy night but the antenatal classes led me to believe you had someone there all the time. I couldn't have an epidural with midwifery led, but I don't fancy that anyway.
I've never had to go to hospital for anything so I think I'm just put off by the machines and things.
The postnatal ward was nice though, some single rooms for women who needed extra care, normal rooms had 4 beds, or you could pay £30 for a single room with proper bed, telly own shower etc. Blokey said get me that for my birthday Cheers dear!

Myfairone · 21/06/2007 08:44

Bilblio - Blokey sounds like a decent blokey!

I decided not to go on the tour of the labour ward just because I hate machines/needles and all this 'hospital', I figured I would see it when I get there at which point I probably won't give two hoots what its like!

So how are we all today? I feel tons better and slept pretty well (apart from the 3000 pee's but thats normal!) I even managed a dream or two!

Seeing the GP again today just for a check. Attempted some cereal this morning and so far so good....hope none of you get this bug!
