I like Matilda, but I think that's because I love the Roald Dahl book!!

I am always polite about names, but it's hard when people insist on calling their children Chardonnay!

here are some bad baby names if anyone is bored... I love this site

doggus · 09/06/2007 19:42

Hello everyone and many congrats to twinkle!

I love all those Elsie type names too. Dh and I are still not in agreement particularly over boy's names. I am actually panicking a bit as we have nothing certain - is anyone else in a nameless state?

I am suffering today in the heat and on the point of doing a self-Caesarian, I reckon it would be (thanks derlor) a piece of piss. My ankles look like my mil's as dh gleefully pointed out. And whichever relative told me that lo would quieten down and stop kicking after 37 weeks needs a good smack!

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/06/2007 19:51

Matilda makes me think of Waltzing Matilda, esp as Dh is Aussie!

We can't agree on anything we both love. Some names we each like but wouldn't be first choices, and first choices not liked by each other. Is a dilemma, but I hold onto the idea that when i see my baby some names will suit and others won't so can decide then.

Daisy - can I borrow "sausagefeet" please.

Think I got off quite lightly... up until now

Hello Domesticgrumpess

foxybrown · 09/06/2007 20:22

Can I just spoil things for a second to say

Fuck me I'm an uptight grumpy bitch tonight.
RRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Sorry Lovely Ladies. As you were.

daisyboo · 09/06/2007 20:32

Good evening......lol at the name stuff. We realised this afternoon that our LOs initials will be EIJ......so could be extrapolated as eejit, but hey ho...it'll be character building!

Been eating and sleeping all day, and that's just me, never mind my beautiful DD. Feeling a bit pooey as my scar is giving me grief and those lovely fourth day hormones have kicked in big style so everything has been a bit of a drama today. DH being a real sweetheart though, and the MW showed him how to massage my swollen feet (which feel fit to burst and are far worse than anything ante-natal!!), so I've had two lovely massages today and look forward to another before bed!

Foxy......Elsie is a lovely name, and I wish I'd thought of it now, but I imagine, like Maisie (my first choice) it wouldn't have gone down well. As it is my family are a bit perplexed by our choice of Emily....being a true bigotted bunch of Scots..."that's an English name"

Best plan is to tell them that you're thinking of something outrageous, so outrageous that it shuts them up from making any comment!

I love the name Emily - (I have one!).

Am disappointed to hear your feet haven't gone down (as much for you as myself!).

You sound like you are having such a good time post-natally. Am very, very happy for you.

Now, can I put a request in for Derlor's 'Abbie birth' and your post-natal experience, just to make things perfect!

annobal · 09/06/2007 20:49

LOL re Matilda. I ALWAYS wanted to be called Matilda when I was young and wanted to change my name to it (I even went through a phase of telling everyone to call me Matilda ).

I wouldn't worry if you don't have any names picked out yet. DS1 got all our favourite names - Thomas William James (yep, we're traditionalists) as I said I would never go through that again - so we are now stuck with having to find 3 names for each child. DS2 was Edward until he came out and it just didn't suit him (he's now definitely a George).

I really like Gilbert for this one, but not sure it would pass the supermarket test - also like Charlie, Alexander and Henry. Think we'll just wait until we meet him.

annobal · 09/06/2007 20:52

Photos are gorgeous Daisy.

daisyboo · 09/06/2007 21:02

We think E looks like a wombat (the tufts of black hair on her ears complete the picture), but she is great.....She actually slept through her first bath today, she is just so mellow and laid back.

Gilbert is a great name Foxy, and can always be shortened to Gil which is really nice (says CSIs No 1fan!!)

Just been catching up on the pg after mc thread. Some of you will remember Taichimum who was with us at the start but since then has had 2 MCs. She's just had another BFP, so wishing her big congrats and a third time lucky! This month will no doubt be quite raw for her.

anyway....deep in the carrycot something stirs......

C'mon you lot....more babies please!!

doggus · 09/06/2007 21:03

Hi annobal - I really like Gilbert and we would have had Henry were it not for neighbours bagging it first here. We tried out our one boy's name on a friend who wrinkled up her nose so I am not doing that again.

What would have been nice would be to call a daughter (if I have a girl) after my mum but her name was Barbara. Now I just can't see that, can you?!

doggus · 09/06/2007 21:05

Daisy, thank you loads for keeping us up about Taichimum, I really really hope this one works out beautifully.

And I so want a wombat like your - you do sound as though you are having fun and loving it, which is truly inspirational.

daisyboo · 09/06/2007 21:11

LOL Doggus.....our mums are Janet and Marjorie, so with you all the way on that one!!

RedFraggle has had her baby....and has posted a brith announcement

annobal · 09/06/2007 21:13

Hi Doggus, glad that you are back .

That's great news about Taichimum - I really hope it goes well for her this time.

Daisy, Emily seems like a dream baby! She's lovely.

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/06/2007 21:38

Glad to be able to congratulate R/F properly now.

Good news about Taichimum too.

hollyandalice · 09/06/2007 21:46

I am feeling very hot and cranky! Just had my glass of wine, so am feeling better than I did half an hour ago!!

Hi doggus, hope you are well. Dp wanted his late mum's name to be a middle name if we were having a girl. It was joyce, which I'm not too keen on, but it's ok for a middle name. Could you maybe use your mum's name as a middle name?

I'm with you annobal on the traditional names for boys. We have (probably) chosen william, which is about as traditional as you can get!

Off for a sec to read rf's birth announcement and update the stats thread!

Yep, beer worked for me.

And an apology (of sorts) from twunty DP's tanty this morning

hollyandalice · 09/06/2007 21:56

Am I wrong to want to pump up my birth pool, fill it with cool water and sit in it and drink wine? Dp said no , but it looks so inviting!!

I want my baby to come out now! Dp said he wants him to come out too so he doesn't have to do any wallpapering tomorrow, lazy twunt!

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/06/2007 22:03

Why not Holly. May as well get your money's worth out of it.

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/06/2007 22:07

OOOH - Joseph final on. Think Lee will win. Just realised that this is the reason my baby didn't arrive yesterday as promised. Clever LO must have known that I needed to see who wins. Sure labour will start as soon as winner announced.

foxybrown · 09/06/2007 22:07

Bet if you do he'll get in it with you!
