I've used blankets before, might use cotton sheets this time. Like the idea of the one with legs. Where did you get it from?

hollyandalice · 11/06/2007 20:01

Bless you daisy with your soppy bfing expression!

I've got a swaddling blanket foxy, but I've only just got it, so I don't know if it'll work. It was donated to me from one of my mum's mums at school. She is a teacher in a posh private school and her mums love to donate things to me through my mum, it is great! My dd has loads of Monsoon outfits, some that have never been worn and they were free!! Result!

kiddy monsoon
ahhhh I knew PG would be worth it in the end
I am going to shop it up right nice...but as I have no money I will probably be utilising Ebay to do it!

daisyboo · 11/06/2007 20:07

foxy...I've just been using the top sheet to swaddle my LO, but she does manage to wriggle out of them at every available opportunity. Think i might put some iron on velcro on them....total cost about £10 for two rather than £15 each!!

But def recommend swaddling. Didn't do it with DS, but in hindsight I wish i had!

hollyandalice · 11/06/2007 20:07

Monsoon do great kids clothes sales TA. If you wait til a couple of weeks after the sale starts most of the things go to 75% off, which takes them down to a normal price! I would never pay full price for any kids clothes in there. I bought dd a cardigan in the last sale. It was £10 reduced from 39.99! Who would pay £39.99 for a cardi for a 2 year is beyond me!

It's like this . It's a babynomade and is cream waffle.

DH is making me cheese on toast for dinner - I'm on George duty as he keeps getting out of bed to go to the toilet. It's a really tricky one as he says he needs to poo and does probably 50% of the time - I never know when he is bluffing.

trendaverter · 11/06/2007 20:10

Good tip!
I want a DD now so I can play dress up with monsoon dresses! I will still be wearing M&S trakkies until I shift some kilos but LO will look the part
ARGH come on labour, you know you want to

daisyboo · 11/06/2007 20:13

Farking DH...he's starting to put on that martyred "must I do everything" expression and making me feel guilty for sitting around. He insists on staying up with me when I'm feeding DD in the night, even though he can't do anything. I'm sure he does it just so that he can do the "i'm sooooo tired routine" (Although he has been well and truly warned that the first time I hear him utter those words he will be banished to the garage to live for evermore and there will be no resumption of marital relations ever...never mind at 16 days )

DS has been trying everyone's patience today, in a vain attempt at getting the attention focussed on him. He's charging around in his room at the moment, so I'm off to deal with it calmly and rationally, with lots of praise for what a great bg responsible big brother he has been!!

trendaverter · 11/06/2007 20:17

Does anyone have a sheepskin? It was a present from MIL. I have no idea what to do with it, other than put LO on it for some arty farty photos!

hollyandalice · 11/06/2007 20:17

My dd does that annobal. We haven't really started potty training her yet, but she comes up to me and tells me she's done a poo, when really she's done a wee. I don't think she's learnt to differentiate between the two!

My dd always looks fab TA (apart from today when she was dressed for most of the day in a top, nappy and wellies, her choice!). I, however, mostly look like a bit like I haven't made any effort whatsoever! Mostly coz I haven't!

trendaverter · 11/06/2007 20:19

Oh Daisy that's no good

Is he maybe feeling a bit left out or something? Men can deal with things in funny ways

annobal · 11/06/2007 20:19

Daisy, the competitive tiredness is sooooo annoying!

Not sure what DSs are going to be like when new baby comes along - they are already very clingy to me - any tips very welcome

westcoaster · 11/06/2007 20:20

Evening all. Am starting off with great intentions - tidying the playroom/office while chatting to you guys... Pretty much guaranteed argument with DH & DD tomorrow as I'll be bound to bin something 'vital' in my chuck-fest. Ooh I do love a good binning...

BTW, have had strangest sensation in my nether regions for past hour or so - v heavy with sort of pulsing pains down my upper thighs...Hmmm. Either too much binning or something more exciting. Surely I can't be so efficient as to go into labour as I hit my 40 wk mark??

annobal · 11/06/2007 20:21

TA - I have a sheepskin and they're great - good for regulating temperature and really comfy. Make sure you wash them in the proper stuff tho otherwise they dry out.

trendaverter · 11/06/2007 20:24

Annobal where do you put them? Carseat, floor? I have read not to put them down on mattresses as they can be a major factor in SIDS... It seems lovely but I feel a bit of a moron for not knowing what to do with it.

I think sheepskins are a bit of an antipodean thing aren't they? MIL is an Aussie!

daisyboo · 11/06/2007 20:24

that went well...just lost the plot with DS and shouted at him. I'm off to bury my head in the back garden and ignore the fact that my DD has just filled her nappy again for about the 10th time today......now she'll wake when i change it and demand feeding again, even though it's only been an hour and a half since her last feed...aaargh.

Cross your legs and keep them in their for as long as possible ladies...they'll only drive you bonkers!!

hollyandalice · 11/06/2007 20:24

My dp keeps going on about how tired he is too ! Honestly he ought to try getting up a million times a night to wee, then trying to get comfortable, which is impossible with 2 stone of extra weight, and then listen to snoring for the rest of the night! It must be hard being him!

OP posts:
westcoaster · 11/06/2007 20:24

Sorry TA - only thing I've used my sheepskin for is as a catbed . My SIL swears by hers though for keeping LO cool/warm as required. My cat loves his too, if that's any help

trendaverter · 11/06/2007 20:26

LOL @ Westcoaster!

DH might be a bit offended if I chuck sheepskin in the dog bed, even if the dog IS his baby

hollyandalice · 11/06/2007 20:26

Oh dear daisy. I am not looking forward to that! Hope she doesn't wake when you change her nappy! Fingers crossed!

OP posts:
hollyandalice · 11/06/2007 20:28

I've got one of those Bowron pushchair sheepskins which is great as it keeps lo warm and snuggly without the hassle of a massive footmuff. Can you put it in your pram TA?

OP posts:
annobal · 11/06/2007 20:29

Definitely an aussie thing TA. I did put Tom and George on them as babies in the cot (didn't know about the SIDS thing) and have a buggy one with 'legs' which I put in the coccoon for baby. As i think the larger cot one is packed away somewhere, I think I won't be using it. You can use the larger ones for a kick mat on the floor as well.

trendaverter · 11/06/2007 20:31

I think I certainly can! Seems like a good idea actually, and it will get a few years of use then.

AND it will do for the arty farty photos too

westcoaster · 11/06/2007 20:33

Daisy - for you. No one needs excess poo in their life, really. I've had a few choice weeks with my DD recently so am fully expecting all hell to break loose when LO arrives. We have an average of one screaming row (both of us ) every two days and she is spending a lot of 'quality time' in her room at the moment. Sounds like she is a stroppy teenager rather than the neglected 5 yr old of a - and I quote - fat, boring mummy who never plays with me anymore.

hollyandalice · 11/06/2007 20:39

Hooray! My dd has just fallen asleep on the sofa drinking her bottle! Weird thing to get excited about, but she has regressed over the past week or so and will only sleep in bed with me. I am looking forward to sleeping with getting kicked and climbed all over!
