So tomorrow we are getting a early gender scan (£50!) thought it was a well
Good deal! But we aren't going to know the gender as my sis and OH sis are planning us a gender reveal 6th October ( sis has her wedding this weekend then honeymoon so October it has to be!!)

Now the last time we saw Bean was at our 12W week and everything was perfect. mw last week listening to HB and that was all good and I use my Doppler once a week to check in too!
Now why am I all of a sudden soo nervous for tomorrow :/ what if everything isn't ok .. hasn't grown etc etc :/
The worries all disappeared after my 12 w but now I'm a nervous wreck again

My belly is defo bigger and i have no reason to be worried :/ but why am I so nervous for tmo

@IndiX

I have two sisters and a brother, I’d say I’m closest to my brother by a long shot. There’s no issues with my sisters.. I am just closer to my bro 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have two sons now, close in age.. and they have always bickered! Sometimes they are thick as thieves... but more often to be found fighting 🙄

@Notquite

I plan to breastfeed but I’ve bought bottles too. With my first I bf for 3 months, not going to lie... it was agony for the whole time! I also expressed and froze some bm, so that I could leave baby with his dad etc. I had PND and needed done time out sometimes.

With my second, I only lasted 36 hours due to how demanding and angry he was! After birth he was too tired to feed and too hungry to sleep, so by the second night with zero sleep, about 5am, a lovely mw took him and fed him 🙌🏼

I’d have some bottles on standby, as best laid plans don’t always happen. Hopefully third time lucky for me!

Surprisedmom · 10/09/2018 18:30

@AnnieBee2 welcome and congrats on the twins!

Regarding the buying front i held back until after 12 weeks but have been buying things ever since. I’ve got enough clothes now (a lot donated from my mother’s collection when we were kids) but am holding back on bigger purchases just because of the space and because of January sales.

Lookingforadvice123 · 10/09/2018 18:31

Notquiteagandt maybe get a couple just in case? I would also really suggest a breast pump. I had no choice and had to give DS top up expressed milk after he'd lost over 10% weight at his 3 day check (it was so unfair as my milk hadn't even come in!). It's not uncommon though, I think they will loan you a breastpump if you don't have one but I had the Medela Swing and it was great. I only breastfed for a month and it was still worth having as I was able to express easily (ish!) and I had to keep doing it for a while even after I stopped BF as I had blocked ducts to unclog. I froze the milk so DS kept having the odd bit of breast milk even after I stopped.

Congrats @AnnieBee2 on your twins and welcome to the group. I know @MrsY87 is expecting twins and I think there is someone else as well! Do u or your partner have twins in the family?

AnnieBee2 · 10/09/2018 19:27

Thanks @Surprisedmom and @maxiflump1 !! My mum was a twin but her twin was stillborn - don't know the details but safe to say they weren't as good at monitoring twins in those days. Never thought for a moment I would have twins - I have PCOS so wasn't expecting to get pregnant at all! Excited and terrified in equal parts!

Since2016 · 10/09/2018 19:43

Welcome @Anniebee2 I’m north London too whereabouts are you? - second baby but not twins! Twins eek how fun.

@notquiteagandt I bought bottles first time round. Hilarious. Every single brand rejected. I BF for 15 months. It was hard initially (she was in NICU and tube fed at birth) but once we got the hang of it it was fine. She never took a bottle. Ever. I expressed easily with a hand pump. I gave away all the bottles so this time I’ll buy one or two but not a whole selection as I know others whose babies rejected them - mostly tongue tie issues. Will definitely give expressing and bottles another go but plan is definitely to BF.

Since2016 · 10/09/2018 19:44

Oh and the hospital pumps are AMAZING- so fast!! You can rent them.

somethingfromnothing · 10/09/2018 20:02

I’m going to buy some bottles. I breastfed initially but ended up with sepsis when dd was 2 weeks old and had to give up due to the medication I was on and being very ill. Hoping things go more smoothly this time!

Lulabell1 · 10/09/2018 20:12

@lookingforadvice123 Dont worry I already got a pair of camo vand they wont fit until hes about 9months but owell! Got too excited haha

AnnieBee2 · 10/09/2018 20:15

Thanks @Since2016 ! I'm near Enfield - how about you? What hospital are you going to? I'm going to North Middlesex. You must be a pro now second time round!

Lulabell1 · 10/09/2018 20:15

@Notquiteagandt I breast fed with DD and plan to this time i still have bottles and sterilised i just got the tommy tippie microwave one because then i can pump and dp can do night feeds. Some people like my sister who had 3 kids never produces milk all 3 times so i just think if i can produce it i may aswell take the opportunity plus milk is just so expensive its mad!

Lulabell1 · 10/09/2018 20:20

@anniebp My other half works in Enfield security at the camden brewery im always around that area! Such a strange small world

Since2016 · 10/09/2018 20:20

@anniebee2 - also Enfield! We’re at the Whittington - it’s between home and work and close to my parents. I feel like I’ve forgotten everything... I always admire mums of twins - they make it look so easy when I’m struggling with one!

AnnieBee2 · 10/09/2018 20:57

@since2016 and @lulabell1 I'm loving the Enfield connection - what are the chances!!

@since2016 I'm pretty sure I won't be making anything look easy - if I manage to leave the house in the first six months it will be an achievement! but if I do manage to get out then I'll come to you for baby-friendly recommendations!

MrsY87 · 10/09/2018 21:23

Hi @AnnieBee2 👋 I'm expecting twins too! These will be #3 & 4 for us though, my DD will be 4yrs 3m and my DS will be 16/17m when these ones arrive! 😱 I'm starting to get excited now it's sunk in, how are you feeling about it? It's quite a shock when you find out isn't it?! I'm 17+3, aiming for 37w not sure whether I'm going to go for a CS or vaginal birth though, I've had one of each so far so just going to keep an open mind. What type of twins are you having? Mine are DCDA.

AnnieBee2 · 10/09/2018 21:38

Hi @MrsY87 !! Wow you are going to have a full house! At least you have seen it all and done it all before! Do you have twins in the family or was it a complete shock?

I'm still feeling more nervous than anything else - its been fairly smooth sailing so far but I feel like I am waiting for something to go wrong. I was prepared for one baby but two is another thing all together isn't it! Financially, physically, emotionally...

15+3 here so you are a bit ahead of me! I want to opt for CS if I get to 37 weeks - just because you know what you are getting with that - but I have two anterior placentas so that might cause a problem there. Mine are DCDA also. Will you find out gender? I will if I can - hopefully at my next scan in two weeks. my feeling is its two boys!

Baby160P · 10/09/2018 21:40

I plan to breastfeed for the first 5-6 months but have got bottles just Incase. I'd plan to use the bottles I've ordered for 6+ months but will just have to buy a different flow teat to accommodate

lanalawr · 10/09/2018 22:00

I planned to bf DD but bought a couple of MAM bottles and small cartons of formula just in case. As it turns out I was told by the midwives to stop feeding her after 4 days (combi fed for 2 of those) due to the damage caused. I expressed for as long as I could but DD would physically push away from me and scream - newborns are surprisingly strong when they're angry! I stopped expressing when the pump didn't get anything any more. I'm glad I had the emergency bottles given what happened but would have been happy to give them away if they hadn't been needed. I've still got the bottles so will buy a couple of new teats and small emergency cartons again this time. Really really hoping I won't need them though. The emotional side of not being able to bf was horrendous for me last time and I know I'd be worse this time. That's just a personal thing though.

@Baby160P When/if you try to switch to bottles I'd try the teats you've got first. I bought faster flow teats as dd got older and she hated them! She always used the first size ones until I weaned her off a bottle and onto a cup of milk (she was over a year old at that point too).

lanalawr · 10/09/2018 22:01

Sorry that should say that dd pushed away from me and screamed when I tried to restart bf after I'd healed enough.

Baby160P · 10/09/2018 22:45

@lanalawr thank you for the advice xx

MrsY87 · 11/09/2018 06:17

@AnnieBee2 no twins in my family so was a huge shock! That's good it's been smooth sailing for you so far, I've had a few episodes of bleeding so that has been fairly stressful but nothing for 2 weeks now so that's a relief! Also still being sick which isnt particularly pleasant, how are you feeling? It's definitely a lot to get your head around having two babies rather than one.

I've got my anomaly scan next Friday think we will prob find out gender, we haven't previously but twins just seems like a whole new ball game and finding out will just make planning , choosing names etc a bit easier!

Has you DP got his head around twins yet? Mine is definitely shocked by the idea still although I think it's more the prospect of going from 2 to 4 children! 😂

Since2016 · 11/09/2018 08:29

@lanalawr that’s how I felt re not being able to BF - everything else went wrong so for me it was the final straw. In the end it was fine but those first few days were horrendous. And yes newborns are angry and strong!! DD was furious that I was trying to make her ‘work’ for it rather than just the tube!

bubblybrit · 11/09/2018 08:30

Morning Smile Just wondering if anyone has tried a pregnancy massage? I’ve had an overnight spa stay booked for a while but just found out the treatment I wanted isn’t recommended for pregnancy. The spa have recommended the mummy to be massage. Is it like a normal massage only gentler with different oils used?

DragonFlew · 11/09/2018 09:11

@bubblybrit my mum is a holistic therapist who offers pregnancy massage. She uses coconut oil and avoids specific areas of the body - they are totally safe after first trimester and are AMAZING! You lay on your side to receive the massage so you don't squash bump x
