oh well. DH just stomped out back to work in a foul mood. I had fallen asleep upstairs waiting for him to get back from the school run so now everything is my fault (he didn't know I was home. My shoes are by the door, my coat hung up and my maternity notes on the table. Is that a big enough clue?) One child in bed in disgrace and the other has a dirty nappy. Fantastic. Don't think I'll be offering any sex tonight. Not even interested in my BP either cos he didn't like this MW last time.

ARSE!

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 16:30

Ria that sucks

Does he not know you are PG and need lots of TLC?!

riabutterflew · 06/06/2007 17:27

I want my mum!

I don't want to moan cos it's all I ever seem to do (but sadly I'm going to SO DON'T READ THIS BIT!!!). I know he's having a hard time at work (and an even harder time not walking out so at least he's thinking of his responsibilities) but I could really do without this at the moment. Part of him is thinking that his work are trying to push him out before the LO so they don't have to let him take PL. Last week they scrapped half his menu without consulting him and changed the prices on the other half. The person who is supposed to work with him has been "off sick" since Sunday (having waited up in the bar til DH arrived at work at 6.15am on Sunday to comment on what time he got in.) The person who does the rota still thinks he works 6/7 days, despite having being told otherwise.
So, it's not really his fault but I could do with a bit of support at home instead of always coming second to the job. I am trying to be supportive to him but it's hard as I can't exactly say - ok, take that short-term contract in North Wales for as long as it lasts, we'll manage.

Sorry, long post, and I think it will be one of those nights. Maybe he will text and apologise?

Hi all

Good news from Kittykit - big congratulations and what a lovely name.

TA/familygirl sorry you have had such crap appointments with your midwives. My midewives have been pretty crap too (didn't even have me on their books when I was 32 weeks pg!) but fortunately I have joint care with my Dr who is lovely. We also have militant receptionists who ask what you need the appointment for if you need an urgent one, otherwise it's about a week and a half wait!

Lilkel, like you we did a little bit of timing manipulation to try for a girl, at least for the first month. By the second month we just got bored and decided to just do it more often either way! I must admit I do have a leaning towards having a girl. But I'm sure that on the day I won't care either way!

Just come back from my pedicure with a rather fetching gold effect on my toes (to go with the yellow shoes!) but on the way back my flip flop slipped of and took the whole varnish of my big toe so now it looks really shit, and I don't have anything to correct it with. What a f*ing waste of money - I'm so cross!

bumperlicious · 06/06/2007 17:37

Oh ria, sorry you are having a crap time. I guess it wouldn't even be so bad if he at least acknowledge himself how shit it is and put up a fight, and tried to make it up to you in the meantime. It must be such hard work for you with your DCs and being on your own.

BadZelda · 06/06/2007 17:55

AARRRRRSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

That's better. Ria - sorry to hear you're so stressed...can kind of sympathise this afternoon though it's only one DD not two lively boys but definitely starts getting to you when they won't let you get any rest at all ;(

BadZelda · 06/06/2007 18:03

And TA / FG look on the bright side. Everytime they piss me off by cancelling / making me wait an hour for an appt I think 'one less till the baby comes and I don't have to deal with them any more.'
yes. they are that bad.

riabutterflew · 06/06/2007 18:11

This country has gone to the dogs!

Have just had a good rant to my sister and now I feel a bit better. (despite DS2 haveing fallen asleep before his tea which will now be cold and he won't probably eat it). She was ranting too about someone who they have just dealt with who did a crappy job for them and she said although they complain she's not as bad as a girl she works with who tells people "if

I do my job badly people die, why should you be allowed to do a crappy job just because it's not life or death". (nurses). Sadly I'll never get to use it, but it's a good one.

Kids are very hard work - they don't tell you that! Sorry about your toe bumper. Can you paint it in a contrasting colour and make a feature of it?

familygirl · 06/06/2007 18:12

Yeah, it's not been that bad really.

A quick question...I was planning to have a homebirth, but due to low iron & irritable uterus am now going into hospital so have packed hospital bag-can anyone remind me, do I need to pack a baby towel?

familygirl · 06/06/2007 18:15

Just before anyone, including me gets excited, I mean when I go into hospital, not that I'm of now (I wish!)

justbeme · 06/06/2007 18:16

Ria - Sorry to hear about all your problems - What does your Dh do exactly?? Is he a Chef and what sort of place does he currently work for? (Im being nosey!!)

Ohh Bumper - what a POOO about your nail varnish - Is it local? could you call them and ask them to do the nail again??

I saw MW today - second time with the same one!! (a First!!) - measured at 38 (am 36+5), not engaged and mentioned to her that my scan result from last thursday wasnt put in my notes, nor my blood results from 28 weeks, so she's going to try and locate them and post a copy to me ( mmm we'll see!!)

Off to dish up the dinner - be back later xx

westcoaster · 06/06/2007 18:41

Sorry to hear about everyone's MW probs - I had a complete 'mare with my CMW initially but have to say that the hospital midwives have been fantastic all the way through - even with my 'James Herriot' issues!!

Ria - that's rotten about your DH - sounds like you're both having a crap time just now. Hang in there...

riabutterflew · 06/06/2007 18:42

familygirl - I don't know about towel for baby. I haven't packed one cos it doesn't mention it in the list the hospital gave me. I don't think DS2 was even bathed in hospital.

justbeme - are you my DHs employer in disguise waiting to sack him? He is a chef and works for a pub which was doing food bar snacks to a la carte, but they have dropped the a la carte so there's no interest in it for him now as he isn't a microwave-pub-chef and never could be. (Think a northern Gorden Ramsey but without the money!)

He has actually texted - not an apology, but to check there was nothing serious wrong. I suppose at least he made contact so we are speaking. Wish I could wave my magic wand and make him happy. (or at least have a baby...)

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 18:47

I am taking a baby towel in - no idea if I will need it or not but I figure if I don't take it, I will probably need it!

familygirl · 06/06/2007 18:51

Ria-such a shame. I love good pub food and hate it when places only serve crap-so disappointing and I can see why your DH wouldn't want to cook it either.

Don't I took towel in for DS, but do remember they wouldn't let me leave til they were confident I could bath him No such requirements for DD homebirth-midwives were only here an hour and a half!

justbeme · 06/06/2007 19:13

Ria - Surely there must be other places your DH could work for - Gastro pubs are the way forward now arent they??

My hospital list says to take a baby towel in, my bags getting bigger by the day!!

foxybrown · 06/06/2007 19:24

Hi all, just got in a put lo's to bed. Sounds like todays been a bit pants for some.

Been out all day so am a bit exhausted now.

I got another text message from Derlor this morning. As she's not been on perhaps I should update you to say her contractions stopped and she went home. She's probably been sleeping most of today, and I'd imagine pretty disappointed.

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 19:30

Oh no! Poor Derlor
She must be so disappointed, I have been wondering how she got on. Hope she is ok

TALLULAHBELLE · 06/06/2007 19:38

Poor Derlor - how disappointing. Wonder if tonight will bring more babies for us. I'm getting so impatient - and not even due til Fri. Gotta chill and stop waiting for 'signs', I think. Been getting texts all week from folk which increases the pressure. Bumped into someone from work today who said -have you not had that baby yet? - Dh suggested should have said yes, had it yesterday ,we left it in the flat while we came out to the pub.

hollyandalice · 06/06/2007 19:52

Oh dear, poor derlor! Hope she is having a rest! Hopefully things will happen soon!

Sorry you are having a bit of a shitty time ria! Your dh sounds really stressed with his job, poor thing. Hopefully he'll get it sorted soon, for both of your sakes! x

Have been having hideous BHs for the past hour, but now have stopped...grrrr!! Am feeling a bit stressy so am having a very large (1/3 of a bottle sized!) glass of pinot grigio! Does wine contain prostaglandins? If it doesn't it bloody well should!

foxybrown · 06/06/2007 19:55

Good for you Holly! A large glass of cold white wine sounds just the thing... only got red here!

hollyandalice · 06/06/2007 19:58

It's really cold and yummy! I bought it for after the birth instead of champagne (I prefer a nice glass of white), but decided to crack it open tonight instead! Hopefully it'll make me feel like doing it and I'll get a nice dose of prostaglandins!!

foxybrown · 06/06/2007 19:58

LOL Holly! You've been very quiet on here lately - been nesting like crazy???

hollyandalice · 06/06/2007 20:00

Yep, I rearranged the dining room today! I thought that moving furniture might kick things off, but no such luck!

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 20:01

I am going to lower the tone here....but earlier today I read that the prostaglandins are actually absorbed more readily via the gut, than the fanjo....you know what that means!!

I think I will just settle for the less effective method, DH already has it easy enough, he aint getting that as well!
