I'm glad you felt like that too TA (though not in a mean way!) I've been of for 3 weeks already and still have 2 weeks to go, but just don't think I could have worked a day longer! I do worry that I will feel that I have wasted this part of my mat leave, but quite frankly it's been great to have some time to myself!

bumperlicious · 05/06/2007 09:28

No news from Daisy yet - though I think she said she was early on the list so shouldn't be long now!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 05/06/2007 09:31

Morning H&A!

TA - to be fair my work have been brilliant and have expected very little of me over the last month or so. My office is at home and I set my own appointments so can plan my own day with customers - who have also been fab - and have just laughed along with me when I have been talking crap cos I can't concentrate!!
My boss made it clear to me that If I felt tierd then I should just go home and rest (he's brill and sensible as I do a lot of driving so could be dangerous?).
I think they've cut me a lot of slack cos in my first trimester I was covering two jobs - managing a team of ten, and seeing my own customers - as well as flying up and down the country presenting to senior managers and other such very stressful stuff - That was before they knew I was pregnant - so I think that earned some points in the bank

I sent an email out to all my work buddies last night to say 'goodbye' and I was actually crying whilst typing (how sad am I?!). It's not so much the work I'll miss but the banter. I will really miss them .

I think I need to hurry up and have my baby

hollyandalice · 05/06/2007 09:47

I left work at 34 weeks with my dd. I then had 8 weeks of sitting on my arse eating crap and growing fat before she came along! I was expecting her to be early, but she was 2 weeks late! It was so boring, but I really don't think I could have worked for any longer. My job involved standing up all day and dealing with arsey customers, there's no way I could have handled it when very heavily pg.

I want to have a bath and go out, but the boiler man is coming to finish fixing the bloody thing. He said this morning sometime. I hope it's soon, I'm getting bored!

trendaverter · 05/06/2007 09:54

I worked freelance and my contract was up in November, when I was 3 months in. I didn't get renewed as the project was complete, and rather than look for a new contract for 3-4 months I decided to have some time off, and I have been so grateful for the break, I have been able to clear out the loft, have some 'me' time, and so on... there have been days I missed work (esp as this last 2 months I have been so lonely) but overall I have really enjoyed (and needed!) the time off.

But when I talk to people that have worked so much and so close to their due date, especially if you have a job where you spend a lot of time on your feet or you manage a team, I really admire what you've done (even if your employers have been understanding, it's still hard!). Also, women that already have young kids - managing their demands as well as being 8-9 months PG must be really hard.
Pregnancy can be bloody tough and demanding sometimes, I have had it pretty easy really, no kids, no job, just a bloody dog and even I have had crap days, and I think you lot should know you have all done an amazing job looking after kids/jobs as well as yourselves.

There you are, a bit of feel good for the day, I'm going to crawl back in my hole now

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 05/06/2007 10:02

I think you're right TA - Women who are pg and have young kids deserve a medal in my opinion.
I defo couldn't have worked this long of I had a little munchkin already!
Also - couldn't have worked this long if I had to be on my feet all day / or in an office all day with no where to go to have a nap or some time alone. I feel very lucky that my job has been flexible.

Right my list is now done (it's taken me ages!) so I'm off to do my chores! Catch you later!

hollyandalice · 05/06/2007 10:05

There is a lot to be said for cbeebies!! It occupies the little person whilst you rest!

bumperlicious · 05/06/2007 10:06

Here here for those with kids already - well done you I have had a crappy time being pg, but have been allowed to wallow in my own self pity! If there is a next time I will just have to get on and do it!

hollyandalice · 05/06/2007 10:21

I don't have a daughter, I have a bloody andrex puppy! Grrr...I leave her for 5 mins and she has gone in the bathroom and unravelled all the loo roll and is playing with some of it on the living room floor! Honestly you'd think she didn't have any toys to play with!

Where's my farking boiler man?! I can't get dressed until I've had a bath and I can't have a bath in case he turns up!

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/06/2007 11:42

KittyKitt just read your post - am v excited for you but so sorry cos am meant to be your buddy and I missed it all. Funny thing, I woke up at 5am this morning and tossed and turned for ages before getting up at 6:30 and going back to bed at 7am. All that time was thinking of logging on to MN but figured there'd be no one around and here you were needing help. So hope everything going well for you now and sorry to have been such a crap buddy Hangs head in shame.

bumperlicious · 05/06/2007 11:51

Just been to the Dr and baby is still only 1/5 engaged. Hasn't changed since last appointment two weeks ago! Grrr! Dr did point out that I am not actually due yet, but still, no change? I'm not going to be seeing this baby any time soon am I?

Right, going to go out into the garden to see if I can sweat it out!

justbeme · 05/06/2007 11:58

Morning!! Oh poor old KittyKit - I hope she's ok now - it must have been horrible having to refresh her screen and no one was on MN at the same time?? (Havent checked if she started another thread?).

Well i ordered My TENS yesterday and it came this morning!! So LO is allowed out now! (even though im not due until 29th!!)

Im too enjoying my Mat leave, but cant be bothered to do much......so NO nesting instinct here yet! My days seem to revolve round - taking the dog for a walk, MN and a little bit of cleaning (how sad am I?). Next week I think I'll organise to meet up with some friends, just want to be alone at the moment - Dont know why....

riabutterflew · 05/06/2007 12:34

Hi all. Have finally caught up. What a frustrating weekend.
Hope kittyit ok.
I have had a text from DH to say it would be nice if I went into labour as his day is shit. Will do if he comes home and helps tidy up first and finishes his jobs list!

I am having a crisis - I can't find the raincover for the pram (which I have only cleaned this weekend) and I think it's at my mums, so I will get into trouble when I ask because she thinks I've had it ready for at least two weeks.

Ooh, have tummy ache...

Back later. Must do something useful and DS2 wants feeding (DS1 back at school - yipee!!!)

riabutterflew · 05/06/2007 12:36

On the DH work front, he has started applying for jobs. Anyone know if you can use paternity leave as part of your notice period? (Though as he pointed out, he doesn't have a contract so he doesn't care...)

annobal · 05/06/2007 12:50

Hi everyone, have just called in home to have lunch before going to hospital for scan. I hope everyone is okay and that Daisy's cs all went smoothly and has a lovely little baby in her arms!

Bumper - thank you so much for the cd and the lovely note - I will be listening tonight! Don't worry too much about the engaged thing - I didn't engage at all with DS2 (birth experience with DS1 was off the wall so doesn't count) - he just moved down as soon as I went into labour.

BadZelda · 05/06/2007 12:52

Not sure Ria...but if you phone up your local jobcentre plus they should be able to tell you? I would have thought it would count as notice time though.

God this having a baby stuff is so unpredictable isn't it. Had Ella 8 days early...so that would mean I'd be having this baby on Thursday - doesn't feel that imminent though...at least the paddling pool's open now, so we can pretend we're at the seaside.

hollyandalice · 05/06/2007 13:06

Hooray, boiler is 100% fixed! Still sat in my pjs as boiler man left about 11.30, then it was lunchtime, now it's naptime and I still haven't had my bath! Sometimes the day just goes and I have no idea where it went!

Not sure about paternity leave ria. Like BZ said the job centre should be able to help you. DP isn't taking paternity leave as we cannot survive on £124 a week! I didn't realise paternity pay was so shite!

Bumper don't worry, some babies don't engage til really late and some not until they are being born.

bumperlicious · 05/06/2007 13:15

Thanks for the reassurance guys, I know it doesn't mean anything either way, I would like like a bit more pro-activeness from this baby! It's obviously it's father's child! If was anything like me it would be here by now!

Ate lots of chocolate to console myself - I wish I was one of those people who loses their appetite when depressed! Not me, I just eat the world!

riabutterflew · 05/06/2007 13:17

Dh only taking leave as they have said they will pay him full wage (will believe that when I see it. We won't manage on £124 either, but if he doesn't have 2 weeks leave I think it's at the point where it will be unemployment benefit anyway. Every time I hear a car park outside I am getting a bit panicky.) I think it also means they will ring up regularly and badger him and he will end up working weekends...

Enough of that tale of woe.

I can't stop eating today - do you think that means I storing energy for labour? (or I am deservedly a fat cow?) According to DHs calculations (because the other two were early and had arrived by now) I am now "late". That is not helpful! I'm bored and want to get it over with. I also want the house to magically tidy itself while I'm not here (and without my mum doing it as it's still not tidy enough for that scenario.) The school holidays were a nightmare. I know they have to do something but they could at least do it without making a flaming mess everywhere!

I have half an hour before I have to look busy for DHs break. Off for a bit of ebaying!

bumperlicious · 05/06/2007 13:29

STOP PRESS! Finally some news from Daisy: -

"Emily Isabelle born 11.32 weighing 7lb 6oz. Mum & baby well"

Woo hoo!

riabutterflew · 05/06/2007 13:30

WELL DONE DAISY!!! CONGRATULATIONS

What a lovely name. Did daisy know she was having a girl?

I am . Hope that sets the rest of us off!

foxybrown · 05/06/2007 13:31

Hi all.

Kittykit - hope you are ok. Am keeping my fingers crossed. You might have had the lo by now! Or you might be in the throes of agony of course .... Either way, am thinking of you.

Bumper, thanks SO much for the CD and lovely note. Will listen to it tonight. You are very kind xxx

I also had those hip pains last night, was in agony all night, but so exhausted and needed sleep so badly I was pretty close to losing it. Had a 4yo in my bed so sobbing and howling just not an option, but exactly what I wanted to do! Spent yesterday at Worthing, which was lovely, but didn't do myself any favours

foxybrown · 05/06/2007 13:32

DAISY - thats fabulous news! Congratulations on the birth of your little girl. Gorgeous name, love it. Lots and lots of love from me xxxxxxxxx

DesperateDerlor · 05/06/2007 13:38

busy day for me - back later x

bumperlicious · 05/06/2007 13:46

Foxy and Annobal, I found with the CD that I didn't fall asleep using it, but I always seem to sleep more soundly if I nap or at night later on. Hope it helps!
