Jo -

That's brilliant!!! Am so pleased for you!!
Are your dates still the same?

beansprout · 25/06/2007 17:14

x-post!!!

Egg · 25/06/2007 17:18

YAY YAY! Fab news. Really pleased Jo. What a lovely day today is...

BTW, the twins are now called Nemo and Dory .

beansprout · 25/06/2007 17:19

Who/what is Dory, Egg? (Love Nemo btw)

bubblesbabe · 25/06/2007 17:21

Fantastic news Jo - I'm delighted for you!!

fillyjonk · 25/06/2007 17:26

at egg's news

in part because, I think, that sorts ME out statistically (could NOT be doing with 2 babies!)

seriously, congratulations but remember there is space here to panic and worry also. I know how much pressure there can be to be unmitigatedly happy about a pregnancy, so can imagine its more so with twins.

fillyjonk · 25/06/2007 17:26

oh an at jo's news also! that is splendid!

Egg · 25/06/2007 17:32

Dory is Nemo's friend in "Finding Nemo" .

Filly, I did think of you this morning!!! I read in one of my many books that it is 1 in 100, so statistically you are all in the clear now...

DS has decided that today is the day for an upset stomach. Bleeeurrggh.

beansprout · 25/06/2007 17:34

Ah. I watched Finding Nemo when preg with ds and was very traumatised by it, so have clearly blocked out most of the details

fillyjonk · 25/06/2007 17:34

i think i am in the clear with bells on. in fact, i think january and march are probably in the clear also

thanks egg for a job well done...

alkar · 25/06/2007 17:36

Congrats to both Jo and Egg glad all is aoing well.

DearBeatrice · 25/06/2007 17:57

well done Jo, great news. sorry i'm being lame and not joining in much; hadn't been on all w'end and before i think ' it's abit of a blur

had my midwife booking appt on thurs and said to her - she said to see how it goes and ask gp (tho they prob refer me to hosp to check if i can have anti-emetics)

feel it's worse at w'end when in all honesty i can lie in bed more.. much as i hate to admit i'm better getting up and going to work; still sick but must be something in being veritical not horizontal.

we seem to be a pretty non-moody lot; in skimming i've seen a few references to 'words' at dh's & bf's, but on the whole i think we should pride ourselves on being well rounded rational women

for now!

rozzyraspberry · 25/06/2007 17:57

Oh jo I am so happy for you!! You must be over the moon after the worrying week you've had

Egg - I can understand your concerns it must be daunting, especially when you already have your ds. This is the best place to talk about your worries and I would definitely make use of the multiple births threads for advice/reassurance.

I don't think I need to worry about twins - not only has egg made it statistically unlikely (nice work thank you!) but also my pregnancy symptoms are not too bad. In fact I think they are probably less severe than with my previous 2. I'm trying to be grateful for this and not obsess that it means something sinister! Am only 7 +2 at moment so could still get worse I guess.

Back to work tomorrow after 2 week break which is a bit depressing. Might go and try on some work trousers to make sure I can get them fastened as am definitely getting a bit thick in the waist department.

Here's hoping we only get good news on this thread from now on

DearBeatrice · 25/06/2007 17:58

ps totally different subject but i'm watching richard and judy and what's happened to ronnie corbetts' voice? i know it was unusual before but...?

morningglory · 25/06/2007 18:39

Congrats to Jo and a double congrats to Egg. You better have a stiff drink ready for your parents and PIL when you tell them!

Was supposed to have my booking in appointment with GP today, but stupid me mentioned that that am I had 1 spot of brown mucus on a tissue when I wiped this morning. Nothing since, and I know my body and it is sending me very pregnant vibes. Well, she wouldn't book me in and made me go to EPU for a scan. I tried to tell her that they wouldn't be able to see anything because, although my strict calculations, I'd be in week 7ish, because I know when I ovulated and I know my cycle, I'm really just 5 weeks plus a couple of days. She made me go anyways, and won't book me in until I clearly have a viable pregnancy. Now I do appreciate her concern, but couldn't she just book me in anyways, and cancels if something goes wrong? Plus it was just one teeny drop, nothing since.

I had scan, and, surprise, they saw a gestational sac appropriate for 5 weeks, and nothing else. I think there is only one as they only saw one sac (please, no twins!). Because of this, they want me to come in next week because I had a scan not consistent with the dating given by my GP. Now I'm all for early scans, but if they don't see anything next week (which is a possibility), I'll really start to freak out. Isn't it normal to ask to come back in 2 weeks when you definitely should see something, so the daignosis is pretty conclusive? ARGH! There was no blood tinging on the probe, and nothing since, so that means that I'm not spotting. Goodness only knows that that one brown spot was, but it felt a bit wierd that she was overreacting more than myself (who had had the miscarriage, FFS).

Can't say I have much confidence in her. During my last boking in appointment, she had no idea what precipitous labour was when I told her that I was at extremely high risk for it. It is a common OB term.

morningglory · 25/06/2007 18:41

sorry for all the typos, I have a splitting headache and can barely function

beansprout · 25/06/2007 18:42

Blimey, that does seem like an over reaction on her part and I entirely understand you concerns about not seeing any more on the scan next week. Is there another GP you can see?

fillyjonk · 25/06/2007 18:43

oh mg (your name always makes me snigger childishly) what a CRAPPY situation.

i had similar with ds, except i was booked in.

but it was longer to wait between because, ffs, it was over xmas and new year.

so we had the 5 week thingy where they can't tell anything, then 3 weeks wait. it was excrutiating.

MUCH sympathy.

rozzyraspberry · 25/06/2007 19:08

Morning glory - Jo was in similar situation to you last week - they saw sac and asked her to go back one week later rather than 2. On the plus side you've less time to wait and hopefully will be reassured like Jo was today! GP must know that a tiny bit of brownish discharge is common!

gingermumi · 25/06/2007 20:01

Hey y'all

OMG!! Egg, wow! . How fab is that!?
When i went for my scan kinda hoped i might be having twins (but just peanut and the fibroid football) - that is sooo fantastic.

Jo - so pleased for you, that is great news, that heartbeat is so amazing - peanut's is on a cd so i keep looking at it at work .

DB - sorry you're so sick, try to eat a little and often if you can, probably not much you fancy (that's what i find when it's bad, i just go for toast and marmite- at least there's some b vits in that).

Morninglory- i'd definitely see another gp - she sounds crap - just what you don't need. As rozzy says you may well be in the same boat as jo so don't get too despondent.

bubblesbabe- finish teaching in two weeks and then prep etc until 12th. Don't think i could have coped with a full timetable at the mo! What do you teach ? - i teach english (never, ever, anyone check my spelling, punctuation etc. my brain goes dead at 5.15 and often long before that!), pre-GCSE to A2.

gingermumi · 25/06/2007 20:07

hmm, just thought maybe samsmam will be next with twins, her dad had a premonition....

beansprout · 25/06/2007 20:08

Oooh, yes, he did!

Egg - told dh about your double yolk, he was suitably impressed and says "congratulations". He is one of 7 so is not phased by these things!

Egg · 25/06/2007 20:13

In all my excitement I forgot to welcome the new ladies, cheechymonkey and gbyegirl (did I miss anyone else, except VB popping in and out...). Fab to have you here and congrats on your little beans.

I read today that i need to eat another extra 300 cals per day. Woooohooooooo. Then it said this does not mean an extra cream cake. Hmmm.

I have been on multiples thread. Very exciting.

Morningglory - what a useless GP. Surely they have to book you in? My GP never did any tests, it was only my word that I was pg, so how did she know it was viable? What a pile of cack. And if you think, by your own calculations, that you are less far along than your LMP dates, then it all makes sense that you only saw a sac. Grrrr.

Egg · 25/06/2007 20:14

Ah but Beany, what would he say if you told him YOU were having twins????

Samsmam - I really hope you join me!

rozzyraspberry · 25/06/2007 20:15

LOL at 'double yolk' beansprout - I've never heard twins described as that before.

So I tried on my work trousers tonight in preparation for work tomorrow and really struggled to get them closed. How on earth am I going to keep this secret for another 5 weeks? On the positive side I don't think anyone will be expecting me to be pregnant again so might just think I've been overindulging whilst on holiday!!

Have a nice evening everyone - feeling really happy tonight after all the good news!
