Morning ladies - how is everyone today? Sorry to those of you who are feeling rough.

I hate to say it but I'm still feeling pretty good - the morning sickness is just that - feel a bit sick first thing in the morning but fine for the rest of the day. And the tiredness hasn't kicked in yet either. I've had a little bit of a loss of appetite and have lost a little bit of weight which is a bit strange but I'm sure I'll make up for it later on!

I'm hoping this continues for the next few weeks as after today I have 2 weeks holiday from work and it would be nice to relax without feeling really sick and tired. During my last 2 pregnancies the sickness has started at around 6 weeks which would be next weekend but we'll see.

Have a nice day everyone.

fillyjonk · 08/06/2007 08:36

oh god i DO have to go and see my gp because, actually, I have NO idea when i am due, at least not within more than a few weeks. Haven't had PROPER period since dd was born nearly 2 years ago.

oh dear

because the line was quite faint on the first test am guessing its still quite early, around 5-6 weeks NOW (ie 2 weeks later) but...should go and see someone i suppose

Egg · 08/06/2007 08:36

Ugh. I never felt this rough last time. Does this mean it is a girl this time?

Rozzy I lost a few pounds during the first trimester last time, and was not sick or even eating less, just think it was the hormones, I think I have lost a pound now as well even though I am eating like a horse and doing no exercise. Upset stomach has gone anyway, which is good.

Raining today, what on earth can I do to keep DS happy all day? We went to softplay yesterday...

Beansprout, I od'd on ginger products last time and just the thought of them makes me feel sick now. Bleuurrggh.

Rozzy, bet you are seriously excited about two weeks off. I was going to do a face but can't complain as I don't even have a job . Looking after DS is much more challenging than my job ever was but it is also a lot nicer so I really should just count myself very fortunate.

Egg · 08/06/2007 08:38

Oh hi Filly just seen your post. I am guessing you must be over six weeks as I think you got a BFP well before my period was even due, and I am six weeks tomorrow. Could be wrong of course. You might even be due in January!!!!!!!!

loonyballoony · 08/06/2007 09:20

Good morning everyone, all ready for the weekend? I'm soooo tired it feels as if I'm asleep standing up and I'm seriously thinking of digging out my horrible maternity bras from last time as my boobs are about to explode!! Whinge over, apart from that I can't complain .
Has anyone told anyone yet in RL? I can't wait to tell people, but have to obviously. Last time I was over 8 weeks gone before I realised so I didn't have to wait that long before I could tell people.

Slacker · 08/06/2007 10:03

Filly, it would probably be a good idea to have some idea when you're due, if you want to have a dating scan that's accurate to within a few days up to about 13 weeks I think. If you want a homebirth it would be good to have a reasonably accurate date so they can't try and tell you that you're not eligible before 37 weeks or after 42, based on inaccurate dating. Have your other babies been particularly early or late btw? If you're a natural 40week birther it'll be less important for you to have an accurate date. Oh, and sorry you're feeling so crappy, I would get CBeebies on if you have it and let them entertain themselves!

I did another test this morning and got a strong line so won't bother doing that again. Still feeling a little odd but not sick at all, although my usual pregnancy smell aversion is kicking in, DS2 handed me a party invite and I had to insist he took it away as it reeked of dog - now normally even I'm not that sensitive! Also feeling a bit bloated but it's hard to tell given that I never got rid of my flab after having DD! Also wondering if I don't have sore boobs because I'm still breastfeeding once a day....perhaps I should just be glad I don't have many symptoms and stop worrying about it. Oh and I found some pregnancy multivits in a cupboard so have started taking those, better late than never.

Hopefully those of you who are feeling rough are finding ways of coping with it, at least it's the weekend soon so you can put your feet up and let DH/DP take the strain!

pobletsmum · 08/06/2007 13:08

Hello! I'm tentatively joining you. I had a Clearblue Digital BFP on wednesday after a feint cheapie line on tuesday. I am 4 wks pregnant today (scary to actually say that!) with my 2nd baby. I have one wonderful DS who is 2, and a husband with the patience of a saint - I'm a real worrier at the best of times!

I have read some of the post, but not all of it, so forgive me if I'm repeating anyone, but please can someone tell me when can I have a booking appt with my midwife and do I have to see GP 1st? I want to try & avoid seeing my GP because I can't get an appointment until the end of June , and I want to get a scan appointment booked. Last pg I nearly missed the right time for the dating scan because the DR didn't book my scan & I didn't have my booking appt till quite late (having waited to see DR 1st).

Many thanks. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all over the next 8 months

flamingnora · 08/06/2007 14:23

Slacker & Egg - thanks for the words on Kings College - much appreciated!
I am on the waiting list for Albany Midwives but there is no guarantee they will be able to look after me and I won't find out until I am 12 weeks (6 weeks to wait!). In the meantime, I believe the midwife-led units in Kings College Hospital are pretty good but i guess I will have to discuss this after my scan?
I'm feeling sick today - was actually sick this morning and have been nauseous on and off all day. I have my wrist bands on but, bloody hell, they are so OBVIOUS I might as well put up a big sign announcing I am up the duff! My boobs are HUGE and really, really sore - not nice.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I feel like I'm leeching advice from everyone and giving nothing back because this is my 1st time - so I can only send good wishes!

beansprout · 08/06/2007 14:47

Hi everyone. Sorry some of you are having such a rough time. I'm actually now getting worried about my lack of symptoms, although I know I should just be grateful. I am 6 weeks today so it could still all happen, but I could do with the reassurance of a good vomit in the meantime!!

I'm still b/feeding ds so I haven't actually worn a decent bra for over 3 years! . No wonder it took so long to conceive this one!

Just had rentokil round to sort out a bit of a mouse saga. Lovely job.

Welcome to pobletsmum!

rozzyraspberry · 08/06/2007 14:47

Hi everyone - I am now off on holiday so a very happy lady!! DS2 now goes to playgroup 3 mornings a week so I'll even get a little bit of time to myself!

Loony - I haven't told anyone in RL yet so it's great that I can chat to all of you about things. Really want to wait until after my scan although I think I might struggle to keep it from my mum until then.

Congratulations Pobletsmum - you must be very excited!

Hope no-one is feeling too dreadful today! Hopefully your DHs will be able to give you a break over the weekend if they're not working.

rozzyraspberry · 08/06/2007 14:50

Just cross posted with you beansprout - congratulations on breastfeeding for so long. What do you plan to do when the baby arrives - are you going to wean ds off or tandem feed?

beansprout · 08/06/2007 14:53

Aw thanks Rozzy. I sometimes feel a bit embarassed in case I get judged. Stupid I know. I'm just going to see how things go. Apparently the milk will start to change in the 2nd trimester so they often self wean anyway. Will see how much I can manage. Ideally I'll leave it to ds though.

Hope you have a good holiday - are you going away at all?

Egg · 08/06/2007 15:24

Right I am now wearing my travel sickness bands and feel remarkably better. I am finding that if I eat chocolate every half hour that helps too .

Beansprout, congrats on reaching 6 weeks! I get there tomorrow, and also congrats on bfing! Definitely nothing to be ashamed of, unless DS is 15 or something (but think he is one of the 2.7 brigade). Is it the evening feed that you still do?

Welcome to pobletsmum. I saw you over on the TTC threads with your BFP, I think I am finally beginning to believe I am pg (esp as I did a second test yesterday).

Beansprout, I know what you mean. It is crap to feel sick, but if you do it reassures you that everything is ok. I am complaining that I feel shite, but I am also glad I feel shite! Dont want hyperemesis mind you...

Rozzy, enjoy your time off, will you still be able to keep up with us or are you heading off anywhere?

We need to do a new stats list as we have a few new members. Have copied and pasted the last one from a few days ago, if the others would like to add themselves in.

No not going anywhere - we went to Center Parcs for 4 nights in April so are just going to spend the next couple of weeks at home. DH has a few DIY things to do and hopefully if the weathers nice we'll get a few afternoons out after DS1 is out of nursery.

I'm jealous of those of you who are at 6 weeks already. I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow and I know there's not that much difference but that extra week seems like a lot at this stage.

Have to confess that I did another test today and got a very dark line so I guess I really am pregnant.

Egg - I found eating often helped me with my sickness although I went off sweet things so was just munching through loads of sandwiches.

Beansprout - some people are very judgemental and breastfeeding seems to be a very emotive subject for some reason. As long as you're comfortable with whatever you're doing that's what matters. I have to agree with Egg though I think that 15 is probably a bit too old

pobletsmum · 08/06/2007 17:21

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Egg · 08/06/2007 19:31

Hi Loony, I got mine in Boots, they were about £7 but I do think they made a difference, although as flamingnora said, no good if you are trying to keep things quiet, if it is too warm for long sleeves you will be outed! Mine look like little grey sweatbands from the 1980s!

Everyone seems to be going / has gone to Center Parcs... they look fab for kids, think we might take DS there for a few nights. Any recommendations?

loonyballoony · 08/06/2007 19:38

Hi Egg, thanks for the tip. I haven't got any sickness as yet, but if it does kick in at least I know where to get them from fast!
We love Cparcs, can be a bit pricey but it's our only holiday. We've only ever gone to the Nottingham one although we live down south. We were booked into the Elveden one a few years ago, but that burnt down so we went to Nottingham and ever since have always gone there. Dd loves it especially the pool and we do as well.

rozzyraspberry · 08/06/2007 19:53

Egg - we've been to oasis whinfell forest 3 times now - the kids love it. Agree with looney that it's not cheap but we do enjoy it. The pool's great and we always hire bikes with a trailer which is good. They have fantastic outdoor adventure parks too. Not sure if we'll be able to afford it once DS1 goes to school though as it's really expensive in school holidays. The accommodation is pretty basic but is being upgraded at the moment.

CountTo10 · 08/06/2007 21:05

Glad to see everyone's ok. I have to agree about the 6 weeks sounding so much more than 5 weeks - it's weird isn't it!! The nausea is starting to kick in with me now. Yesterday it was quite bad. I drink Ginger & Lemon tea and eat ginger biscuits and that seems to help. Weirdly 'craved' marmite this morning though - I don;t like Marmite but let me tell you spread on toast with butter it was the best thing I'd ever tasted!!!!

I had a nightmare on wed night. Went round to a friends for a girls meal and one of them asked if i was pg and they all rounded on me and started badgering me asking me to swear on ds's life etc. I had a bit of a go and told them to back off but 2 of them made it clear how disappointing it would be if I was as I'm due to be bridesmaid in May 08 and that would effect dresses etc so now I'm not looking forward to telling them

Have found out that another girl at work is pg though so at least that takes the light off my ever expanding belly though!!!

leesmum · 08/06/2007 21:12

Beansprout and Fillyjonk i think its great that you're still feeding your babies, i'm just jealous. ds was born 5 weeks early and wouldnt latch on and when he did he just messed about, i got myself into a right state about it until very caring midwife said "you cant tell in schools and nurseries which children have been breast or bottle fed" Actually there is a Huge amount of pressure on mums to do all sorts of things this way or that way,it all gets a bit daunting. i think ill be a lot more chilled when this one arrives

DearBeatrice · 08/06/2007 21:27

welcome to pobletsmum - i like the soudn of center parcs but haven't had chance to go as yet .. no kids

girls, are shooting pains in vagina okay? had sudden pains which make me gasp

brought on by my breaking the flush on a toilet here (too heavy handed!) panicced as it didn't flush first time so i pushed down too hard. eek just what i need; then i got these yelpy pains.. is that stretching?

5+5 today

fillyjonk · 08/06/2007 21:43

aw leesmum, i am sorry to hear that

rozzyraspberry · 09/06/2007 08:16

Leesmum - you will definitely be more chilled this time around. Even just handling a newborn seems so much easier 2nd time around.

Countto10 - I don't like the sound of your 'friends'. You can't fit your life in around anyone else -if it's the right time for you to have a baby you shouldn't worry about being a bridesmaid or anything else - they should be happy for you! And asking you to swear on ds's life - that's just horrible.

Hope everyone is feeling ok and those of you who are not feeling so good are being spoiled.

My dh is off to rockness (music festival in Inverness) today so I'm off to spend the day with my mum which'll be nice. Hope everyone else has a nice day!
