Maisie is lovely! :) Thomas is a lovely solid name.. I have a James :)

December2018 · 24/06/2018 20:38

Maisie is gorgeous! I love it!
And Thomas runs thru my family I love it 💙💖
We've decided on Hollie-may for a girl
And Leo-James for a boy
Can't wait to find out what where all having ladies!

PickettBowtruckles · 24/06/2018 20:47

Just seen a few of you ladies went to Peek-a-baby - I went there for my early scan at 7 weeks. They were running about an hour and a half late unfortunately and I genuinely thought I was going to wet myself 😩 They were so lovely once I got my scan though! Thinking about going back in 3 weeks to find out the gender as they’re so much cheaper than anywhere else round here!

I did send my scan photo off to gender experts (yes I fell for it!) who predicted boy based on nub theory and outlined the nub in the photo they sent back, but I’m fairly sure the ‘nub’ is actually babies thigh as you can see the feet at the top and the sonographer pointed out the legs! Who knows though... I’ve attached the photo to better explain what I mean 😂

I finally have a baby bump! Just noticed tonight that it doesn't 'just' look like my usual bulge, def more firm than usual :)

Lovely bumps ladies! I’m very jealous, I feel like I still look like I just ate a bit too much dinner...

Gemsie1984 · 24/06/2018 21:00

Aww all these little beans are growing.. seen people posting in Due in March!!

December2018 · 24/06/2018 21:02

March babies! Geezzz makes me feel like a bit of a old timer 😂😂
... I do love a good bump picture! Mine literally popped out over night lol

emwithme · 24/06/2018 22:26

My bump is still mostly cake but I can't suck it in any more! As I'm laying here in bed there's a solidness to it that I've never had before.

I'm thinking of booking a sexing scan for next week. I'm just too damn impatient to wait much longer! Id really like a little boy but think it's a girl!

Been looking at prams/pushchairs/travel systems the past couple of days. Cannot believe how bloody expensive they are...most of them cost more than my first car did! I was thinking of getting a travel system but a (multi-offspringed) friend said she'd go for a permanent car seat in the car and a from-birth suitable stroller and now I'm really unsure!

@emwithme, cute little bump. I just looked podgy until even yesterday I feel. I've bought a second-hand travel system. It was £70. iCandy Strawberry with plum extras. Really great condition with just a little wear to the wheels. If I'm that bothered about that (which I'm not) I can buy replacement wheels for £50. The only thing it doesn't come with is a car seat, however I would want a car seat new anyway. I just didn't see the point in paying £400 for a pram when I'll move to a stroller in 6 months anyway!

Gemsie1984 · 24/06/2018 23:17

Bit off topic but who watches The Handmaid's Tale? It's just so good, and getting better every week!

December2018 · 25/06/2018 07:01

emwithme sooo cute!!!
All these chunky little babbas now 💖💙

Cakelaur · 25/06/2018 07:12

@Gemsie1984 I LOVE the hand maidens tale. But I have last nights episode to watch later.

Wow you guys are good. I'm about to spend £1200 on a bugaboo donkey. This is our first baby (OH has a 12yr old son) but we plan on having a couple of them quite close together. And then we're getting the Doona car seat. It has wheels that flick out from under the car seat for quick trips. Plus we sometimes have to park miles away from the house! (Bloody
London parking) but we're hoping that everything we buy this time will be used for the next couple of kids.

My poor step son had a massive melt down last night. We set some rules about Xbox times (it's become waaaaay too much recently) and he just had a massive meltdown and it ended in him telling us he doesn't see his dad enough and finally ended in him saying that he's so worried for when the baby comes that everything will change and he'll be less important. Broke my heart. Didn't even really know what to say to him because how do you explain that he's no less important but like any sibling you will now have to share parents time. We're hoping that by limiting Xbox hours he'll spend more time with us, thus feel less excluded. But he obviously thought it was all a punishment. Does anyone else have older kids worried about new arrivals?

Gemsie1984 · 25/06/2018 07:24

@Cakelaur it's so hard with other kids and I think as pregnant ladies we assume that their feelings will just slot into place as we're excited but the reality is somewhat different and a child's head-space is a myriad of emotions at the best of times! Just go gently (as I'm sure you will) and reassure.. I'm having the same issues with DD who's 10 (going on 16) She's been banned from the iPad for three days (cue meltdown as she's addicted to that bloody thing) due to continual lying and stealing. But it's all my fault, all I care about is the new baby, I want her to live somewhere else etc etc. I know the most part comes from anger, but there has to genuine anxieties in there, too. I reassured her and apologised if I seemed distracted but she's loved and will always be loved but growing up there's boundaries and lying, stealing will be punished. I had a 20 minute cuddle with her in the bed with me stroking her hair giving her affection just before her bedtime and it ended with her kissing bump - so I think all of forgiven. For now! 🙈

MagicalCreatures · 25/06/2018 07:36

Hi Girls
I’ve been abit absent lately. Things have been so busy and baby brain is taking a hold at the moment (it’s definitely a thing)
I find myself walking around in circles 😂
@JustVent id love to meet up at some point, and
@DottyA maybe you can join us. We might even be labour wars buddies.

Welcome to all the newbies.
I agree with @Gemsie1984 we are a lovely bunch on the December thread 😃

Hope everyone is doing well. Lovely to see some scan pics and people getting excited buying stuff. I just ordered a rocking chair. But haven’t bought anything specifically for baby yet.
Mothercare have a massive sale and I’ve seen a buggy I desperately want but feel it’s far too early.

MagicalCreatures · 25/06/2018 08:04

@PickettBowtruckles I would have said boy. That’s quite an obvious nub.
@Cakelaur that must be so hard with your stepson. Sounds like you care and love him so much. So just keep doing what’s at your doing and reassure and everything will work out.
Also I’m self employed and only get £145 a week for 26 weeks I think so I feel your concern. Don’t know how we’re going to live off that.
The dopplers are buggers by the way. The idea is not to rely on them too much. I’ve had no trouble finding beans HB for weeks and yesterday I really struggled. Got it in the end though.

I'm 16+1 today and I'm having quite bad 'period' type pains.. bad enough I'm considering paracetamol. Do you guys think it's just stretching? There's no blood, yet anyway.

AGirlinLondon · 25/06/2018 09:17

@gemsie I am (I think) six days in front of you and I got this a couple of days ago - it did go away. Stretching pain has been ok but getting that wasn’t nice.

My new thing is a version of restless leg in my left leg. Never had it before. Annoying!

DottyA · 25/06/2018 09:35

@magicalcreatures that'd be lovely :)

Those of you thinking about buggies - depends what's most important to you but I've never regretted buying our BabyJogger City Mini GT. Being able to fold one handed is really useful - even just for storing it at home. I can easily carry it when folded in one hand plus 16 month old in the other arm up steps when I need to. It's great if you want to stop in a busy cafe or pub too - can just take the baby out and fold it. Only downside is it's not parent facing with the seat but you can use a carrycot or car seat for the early months. It's also good off road which I think a lot of lighter folding buggies aren't.

DottyA · 25/06/2018 09:51

@gemsie1984 - stretching pains are very normal I think. My experience of miscarriage was that bleeding started a couple of days before any pain so sounds like you're fine. x

DoAsDreamersDo · 25/06/2018 09:59

I had period like cramps the other day but (TMI) I think I just needed a trip to the loo because the pain seemed to stop after that.

I'm starting to think that I should start buying some stuff for the baby, even though we are being gifted loads of 2nd hand stuff from friends and family. I might hang on now until the 20 week scan though so that hopefully we'll know if it's going to be a boy or a girl (only 3 weeks to wait).

JustVent · 25/06/2018 11:32

Gemsie, I’ve been having pains all morning. Particularly up and down the left hand side of my bump. I’m telling myself that it’s normal.

Cakelaur · 25/06/2018 11:34

@Gemsie1984 I'm glad we're not the only one. A lot has changed for this little man in the last couple of years, his dad met me, he changed to senior school, his mum met someone, the boys moved into my house (cos it's bigger) his dad changed jobs with more hours, his mum broke up with her other half, mum and dad are FINALLY getting divorced after 10yrs separated, and now we've got a baby on the way. So he's defo dealing with some changes. Poor little man. So changing rules on Xbox was obviously the last straw.

AGirlinLondon · 25/06/2018 12:15

@DoasDreamersDo I bought my first two rompers yesterday. Feel like I can just take it at my own pace and buy when I’m ready, while politely smiling and accepting the well-meaning gifts I am being given by my very excited family. My mum wants to buy the pram and is hassling me about looking at them but it’s way too soon for me.
