@Stephisaur I live in the Isle of Man and am in the UK for mum, so I've had to cancel all my appointments back home and I'm waiting to see if I can temporarily transfer my ante natal care over here, but it's proving difficult.

I haven't felt any movements yet, had to wait ages with DD because of an anterior placenta so I'm getting very impatient this time. I told my 13yr old DSD about the pregnancy over the weekend, she said she already guessed, but she's very happy!

Stephisaur · 16/07/2018 07:29

@rompom oh that’s rubbish for you :( you’d think they’d make things a little easier :(

Glad DSD is happy and I hope you feel some movements soon xx

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 16/07/2018 10:18

Hey lovely bunch 😍 mega weekend with the inlaws over so haven't managed to even peek at this! Getting ready for midwife appt this afternoon when hopefully we will hear the heartbeat for the first time 🤞🤞 technically it's 16 week appointment but I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow!

@Wiggle so sorry to hear you're feeling anxious, hopefully the mat team can give you reassurance and you begin to grow in confidence x

@Stephisaur yay blue! Do you have a name for a boy?

@raysan1 thanks for the link for the baby box!

@RomPom lovely to hear from you, so pleased to hear your mum is doing a little better, I bet you're right about being able to tell her which team baby is!!

Love seeing all your bumps!

kaytees · 16/07/2018 10:39

Hello all... can I nervously join? Baby due 26/12 and I'm on a few other boards but finding it confusing with people at such different stages! I recognise a few names on here so that's a good start! I'm 17 weeks on Wednesday.

This is baby #2 for me but a v different experience this time round... baby is a proper wriggler and I started feeling little rolling sensations about 13/14 weeks and now feeling things that are more like kicks.

JustVent · 16/07/2018 12:44

Welcome Kaytee you’re 2 days behind me. I recognise your name as well.

Stephisaur · 16/07/2018 13:12

@Goldilocksthegraceless yes, he will be Thomas :)

DH wants to go with Thomas as that was his Dad's middle name (sadly passed away 2 years ago) and then I want to use Sean as a middle name after my Uncle, who passed away from cancer 8 years ago.

Hope you get to hear the heartbeat!

MagicalCreatures · 16/07/2018 13:47

@kaytees Hi Hun. Glad to see you on this thread. I was struggling with the same thing on the other thread because of the different stages people were at. That’s why I haven’t commented for a while. Hope your well x x

Another one joining team blue! Completes my set! Eek!

Cakelaur · 16/07/2018 14:56

@balalalala congrats babe!!! Great news! 💙

@kaytees welcome babe. I find it the same but the support of those who have been through the same is like that of no other. But I love this thread too, for up to date experiences of others. But I'm too scared to leave the other thread as I want to give support to others who have been through the same thing.

@GoldilocksTheGraceless I got to hear the heartbeat at mine. Hopefully you do too!

kaytees · 16/07/2018 14:57

Thanks guys! Yes @MagicalCreatures I wondered where you'd gone. You must only have a couple of weeks til the next scan, right? X

Stephisaur · 16/07/2018 15:10

Hi @kaytees :)

December2018 · 16/07/2018 15:23

kaytees hi lovely 😁

December2018 · 16/07/2018 15:23

balalalala congrats hun made up for you xx

December2018 · 16/07/2018 15:43

Me and my OH are torn between two boy names what do you ladies think
Oliver-James
Or Leo-James
James is my OHs first name and I just love it!
💙💙

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 16/07/2018 16:46

I like Leo-James, a bit more unusual (also a shortened version of my own name Leonora so I'm biased!)

Steph, Thomas Sean is a great name! How exciting for all of you who know!!!

Congratulations balala you are so lucky to have a set!

Cake we did get to hear the heartbeat, it was amazing! Going like the clappers at 150bpm too so if the old wives tales are anything to go by then we will be looking at a little girl I think! Let's wait and see...

Just went pram shopping at a fancy Swedish place and my eyeballs nearly fell out at a price of £1200!!!!!!

kaytees · 16/07/2018 17:02

Another vote for Leo-James over here @December2018 , but both are lovely names!

V jealous of those of you who already know if it's a boy or girl - I'm desperate to know but I definitely think boy! It'll take us 20 weeks at least to think of a name (it did last time, and then when he came out it didn't suit him so we had to start again!)

Ooh @GoldilocksTheGraceless where'd you go pram shopping? Depending on how fussed you are by second hand you can often get high end 'refurbished' prams on eBay (usually means the wheels or covers have been replaced). We did it for our first and honestly our pram is fantastic, was glad I didn't shell out the extra £800 for brand new! It's a bit controversial though!

Wiggle4 · 16/07/2018 18:10

@kaytees I was getting a little lost in everyone at different stages too so this board is definitely great for others being at same stage even if every pregnancy is different! But I do get what you mean about the support @Cakelaur

Thanks @GoldilocksTheGraceless! Have felt movement fairly regularly since I woke up worried on Saturday morning so been feeling a little more reassured!

MagicalCreatures · 16/07/2018 20:21

@balalalala congrats hun!!! You must be so excited.
@kaytees my 20 week Scan is the 9th August but did have a gender scan last week and found out we’re having a gorgeous little boy 😁 And I know, I really didn’t wanna leave some of you girls but I just couldn’t keep up with all the threads I had going. But your totally right @Cakelaur that thread was a godsend for me during my first 12 weeks. Having people that had been through similar was so reassuring.
@December2018 I’m loving Leo-James. It rolls nicely.
@GoldilocksTheGraceless I was having the same problem looking at prams. Can’t believe the price of some of them. I was looking at the oyster in Mothercare for around £520 which was more reasonable and then funnily enough my DH, mum and myself all fell in love with mothercares journey edit at £350 in navy with a separate carry cot, seat unit, footmuff, rain cover and car seat adapters. Totally made up. It’s gorgeous. I love that I don’t have expensive taste 😂

Yes, so happy! Was such a lovely experience as the sonographer was so lovely. I agree, this board has been so supportive. Here's to the next 20 weeks!

Gemsie1984 · 16/07/2018 22:41

Evening ladies,

I've had a bit of a wobble this evening. I'm 19+2 and still not feeling much movement. The odd flutter but not much at all. I do have an anterior placenta. I've been listening on the doppler this evening and his HB was really arrhythmic. There was pausing between beats and missed beats. I'm pretty sure he was moving too as there was noise artefact too on the doppler. I have cardiac issues and now I've convinced myself he has, too. I don't have my anomaly scan until the 1st.. don't really know what to do..

MagicalCreatures · 16/07/2018 23:42

@Gemsie1984 oh hun. I don’t have any experience but I know you must be really panicking yourself and didn’t want to leave you. Have you maybe considered that the dopplers aren’t always completely accurate and can be temperamental. What if his movements were affecting the sound waves and making it miss a beat here or there. Please don’t over stress yourself but like someone said before, the dopplers can be a godsend and a curse. But anything that concerns you, you should get checked out. Just because you can here a heartbeat, doesn’t mean you should ignore any concerns you might have x x

Got my 20 week scan today at 1 pm and I'm so nervous. Starting to feel movements more (have an anterior placenta) and baby was VERY active in the early hours when I was trying to sleep but I still have The Fear.

Am looking forward to finding out whether we're on team blue or pink though (or as I said to my best mate - whether she's going to be an Aunty or an Uncle Grin )

Gemsie step away from the Doppler. If you have concerns, contact the midwives. They'll get you in and check you out.

Right...off to work via McDonald's for breakfast for the morning. Have planned a morning of boring stuff I can do with my eyes shut as I know I won't be able to concentrate properly!

balalalala · 17/07/2018 07:29

I agree, step away from the doppler but ring your midwife if you're worried. Midwifes get a lot of training and practice with using a doppler so I'm sure they'd have a listen and refer you if concerned!

@emwithme you are literally me yesterday! However today is no better as I'm still just thinking about my son! (eek!) we actually announced it on fb yesterday and I hadn't realised how many of my friends I hadn't told! Oops. I also had a slight joules accident having decided he needed a nice new babygrow. Little bit sad that I won't get to reuse some of the gorgeous clothes I had for my dd!

JustVent · 17/07/2018 07:36

Gemsie you’re a nurse aren’t you?

I don’t think your worries are unfounded, they are reasonable. Hopefully everything is ok but the fact is you have picked up something that has concerned you and you need to tell your MW.

My doppler told me that my baby had died in the second trimester (last year previous pregnancy) so for my the doppler was very accurate in telling me something was wrong. I would have had to wait 5 more weeks for my 20 week scan just to find out he had died.

I know people have doppler a but they can be an excellent indicator that something is wrong before you are at the point where you can rely on the kicks.

Let us know how you get on.

Gemsie1984 · 17/07/2018 08:41

@JustVent I'm so sorry that you went through this. How awful. Makes my anxieties pale in comparison. As people have said I think dopplers are a blessing and a curse. I'm waiting for my children to head off to school and I'll have another listen to him this morning and if he's still very obviously arrhythmic then I'm going to call my MWs.
