I second Kitty

You guys are all great, was telling dh earlier how lovely it is to be able to talk to such lovely ladies, in just the few days I have been on here I feel so much better about things.

And yes congrats everyone!

foxybrown · 24/05/2007 19:28

Aw, sorry Kittykitt! Never like to make a grown woman cry (unless its Bumpers daft MW with her dumb comments!)

I'm having Big Mac for tea. [shame emoticon]

annobal · 24/05/2007 19:30

LOL Foxy - I've been planning pizza tomorrow night all week. On that note, i'm about to go and gaze in the cupboards in the hope that there might be something that inspires...

trendaverter · 24/05/2007 19:31

I just ate some vanilla haagen daz with 2 crushed up chocolate hob nobs on top

medicinal purposes only, I swear, it's for my tonsilitis

foxybrown · 24/05/2007 19:32

DP is out again tonight and I have a friend over to sit on our arses and eat dirrrrty food. I associate her with MacD's! How bad is that?!

Am going to put my mobile on charge right now, just in case Derlor needs to make contact [oh oh peeing my pants in excitement!]

annobal · 24/05/2007 19:32

Ooh TA, that sounds so nice. That reminds me, we might have some cookies and cream in the freezer.....

foxybrown · 24/05/2007 19:33

Very sensible TA. The soothing ice-cream to start and the coarse oaty biscuits to massage and exfoliate the throat. You are clever!

kittykitt · 24/05/2007 19:34

might have to be yet another microwaved jacket potato for me - kitchen still nowhere nearer being finished..

Or maybe i could just go to the chippy
Enjoy your Big Mac, Foxy!

Evening!!

WOWWWWW - Congrats to Natty and the safe arrival of baby Ellen - It IS all becoming very real now isnt it!!

Likkel - Good Luck for 2mrow - It must be really weird knowing exactly when your going to have your baby.

Kittykitt - you made me LOL with your comment about - how you cant believe a baby is actually coming to live in your house!!

Someone mentioned about having a long bath with their LO after its born - but I remember reading a thread recently about someone doing that and their LO's poo turned the water yellow- euwwwwww- dont think I'll be doing that somehow!!

Had the MW yesterday - LO seems to have gone head down (was transverse) - not sure if it will stay there though - mind you - I had 2 MW's really prodding me to work out which way it was facing - they were squeezing my pubic bone area - and I swear today I feel like the LO has dropped!!

trendaverter · 24/05/2007 19:34

I am making the most of my last few pregnant days while I have an excuse for gluttony...I am so dreading that evil word 'moderation' after the baby is born!

notsolilKel · 24/05/2007 19:36

Daisy - apparently you're meant to just use water on the CS wound, nothing else till it's 'dry' - but then arnica cream would prob be allowed.

Sputnik - interesting family mix. I thought mine was pretty crazy being American/Irish and Austrian/German living in London!!

am wondering if I can still ask for gas & air when I show up for my section. you know, just to keep me occupied while I'm waiting?

notsolilKel · 24/05/2007 19:38

2p says Derlor beats me to it, btw!! How's it going Derlor????

DaisysGotABigBump · 24/05/2007 19:39

No TA....you still need additional calories for breast feeding!

JBM I was reading something somewhere about someones baby engaging after a visit to an osteopath for SPD. Obviously that little bit of manipulation from the midwives has done the trick!!

DH is home so I am "officially" off-duty, as opposed to the unofficial hours since school that I've been on the computer. DS in a strop so I'm just hiding from him....

BadZelda · 24/05/2007 19:41

Where is the stats list hiding now then?

DaisysGotABigBump · 24/05/2007 19:42

If they give me heperin injections, i'll certainly be using it on the bruising. I was bruised from thigh to knee after DS....

....just been looking at a website with lots of photos of C-section scars on it.....I won't link it r it'll scare the life out of you Kel, but apparently after 2 or more, it can look much worse....oh joy!!

justbeme · 24/05/2007 19:43

You might be right Daisy
She also said ( if I believe her that is) - that as the head was so low - she thought it must have "got past" my fibroid - (eurghh) - so I may be able to go for a normal delivery rather than a CS - but Ive got the hospital next week for that decision.

By the way, I was talking to a Dog handler at work and he suggested to any of us dog owners to hold a doll and talk to it etc before giving birth - so the dog get used to us doing so.

Ive started - (and this doll also cries!!)
Arnie went to have a look at it when we put in on the floor - we told him to leave and he went away and lay down - so hopefully I wont have too many problems with jealousy. Just thought Id share with any of you dog owners.

DaisysGotABigBump · 24/05/2007 19:43

there's a separate thread BZ...but I can't link it at the moment as my computer is running very very slowly.

Argh needing calories for Bfing!! But I need to shift the weight!

Do you know I am 5 stone overweight, (2.5 of which came since getting PG), I am going to have to bite the diet bullet sometime, LO is just going to have to suck every last calorie out of me that it can

justbeme · 24/05/2007 19:46

Oh whilst I remember, can I ask you all - have you been asked if you will allow the Midwifes to give you Lo the Rubella injection straight after being born?? I think its quite new and Im not sure what to do.

trendaverter · 24/05/2007 19:46

new to me

DaisysGotABigBump · 24/05/2007 19:47

My friend, whose dog is not averse to ripping apart rabbits when he catches them, was very calm with the baby. They let him sniff the naked baby all over (after the baby had lots of skin to skin with mum) to get him used to the smell. He's been fine and has accepted bub into the pack.
I think problems can arise with dogs who think that they are top dog, but if they know their proper place in the household they are generally OK.

OP posts:
trendaverter · 24/05/2007 19:50

Yes I have a dog and am wondering about how it will go.

He knows he is not top dog with me and behaves himself but can be a right sod for DH.

He is not a jealous/vicious sort, he is just only 8 months old and VERY BOISTROUS

DaisysGotABigBump · 24/05/2007 19:51

Have heart though TA....having a baby guarantees you to lose a stone overnight . Then comes the difficult bit!

After I had DS I lost a stone and a half of the 2 I'd gained, then I gained some more, and some more and some more....till I was back at 2 stone again....

Started off this pg about a stone heavier than I was before DS, but have only gained about 18 lbs.....I'm determined to get back to my pre DS weight after this one though.

OP posts:
DaisysGotABigBump · 24/05/2007 19:53

My friend was really worried as the dog didn't behave very well for her and obviously thought he was above her in the pecking order....but there haven't been any problems. They never left them alone together though, ever!

OP posts:
trendaverter · 24/05/2007 19:54

Ditto Daisy... just sick of looking like a zepellin blimp, and everyone says 'but you are pregnant' and I reply with 'but there is no baby in my thighs, arse, arms, neck...'

Ahh well

I will be sensible for sure and don't plan on doing anything stupid but I am so desperate to get to a decent weight. My goal is a size 14, to some people that's still overweight but it would be a dream for me!
