daisybump · 23/05/2007 11:09

No, I don't feel ready at all. I could do with another few weeks to get my head space cleared for take-off. Still feeling a bit . I could always cancel the section and let nature take it's course, but knowing my luck if I did that I'll be popping this weekend.

House is still a mess, but DH will be around for 4 weeks (working from home whilst I'm in hospital, then 2 weeks hols, then working from home a futher week) so he can catch up with it all then!!

daisybump · 23/05/2007 11:12

You've got me all worried now.....
We've got one of those home BP thingies from LLoyds Chemist and it gave me a reading of 135/80...is that high?

derlor · 23/05/2007 11:13

yeah i'm well frustrated at my house - i want to hoover and clean but i'm not allowed - DH doing a great job with everything but i feel that i can't keep asking him to do more you know?
currently my hoovering needs done, my bathrooms need cleaned and the wood floors all need washed but i just feel i should sit tight and be quiet cause i think that list would push him over the edge!!!!
Men just don't see dirt do they???? i wish i was a man!

daisybump · 23/05/2007 11:16

Mine is a tidy freak, but can't see the dirt....I'm a domestic slut where tidyness is concerned, but dirt drives me potty...so we're quite well matched. I feel guilty at the mo though, as he's not here to do the tidying, so it's all looking a bit too lived in. I do clean...but then out the piles of junkmail/paperwork/ironing etc back when I'm done!!

derlor · 23/05/2007 11:16

oh good no, thats OK a good indication of your BP should be 100+your age / 70-80 so pretty spot on - what is your BP normally?

daisybump · 23/05/2007 11:19

Its been 110/60 or 70 at all my AN appointments until the last couple where its been around 130/80.

what the fark does it all mean anyway?

daisybump · 23/05/2007 11:21

I seem to remember the MW saying she would only worry if it was above 140/90 or thereabouts. I'll keep an eye on things with this monitor though.

derlor · 23/05/2007 11:31

yes 140/90 is the warning zone!!!
it basically means the amount of pressure being put on your heart to pump your blood round your body - so the higher it is the harder your heart has to work.
next time your see floaters or feel dizzy check it to see if it is higher.
also take it sitting down then stand up and take it again to see the difference and tell me the result.

DaisysGotABigBump · 23/05/2007 11:52

Cheers Derlor.....I'll take it again after I've had my nap. Floaters were when I was in the shower this morning if that's significant.

Back to being Big bump....

I've been off sorting out my new names, for after I'm bumpless......bought them in the Mile for Maud nickname auction...so watch this space.

hollyandalice · 23/05/2007 12:19

Hello everyone! How are you all?

How is your ds derlor? I have floaters, but my bp is 90/60! My floaters are due to my severe short sightedness though! Hope your bp is ok daisy, how exciting that you've started counting down in days!

I'm going to a hideous soft play centre party in a bit. I am not looking forward to it! I'll either have a heart attack from over exerting myself or piss myself! I have rigged up an ingenious safety pin device to stop my trousers falling down, I hope it holds!!

DaisysGotABigBump · 23/05/2007 12:27

Make sure your safety pin is big enough to go through the TenaLady pad as well, LOL

We're having a party for DS at a Wacky Warehouse on Sunday....I'm not sure I'm up to the emotional challenge, but thankfully its next to a pub, so I can always leave DH to it and go get myself a nice relaxing drink or something!

hollyandalice · 23/05/2007 12:32

PMSL (literally)!! I think I may put an always pad in, just in case! My dd always makes me go round with her and I'm not sure my pelvic floor can handle climbing! Sorry, is that tmi?? ! I wish dp was home coz I'd make him come with me. I thought you were napping anyway daisy!

DaisysGotABigBump · 23/05/2007 12:58

Every time I shut my eyes the blardy phone rings....just tried again and the postman arrived with a recorded delivery letter for DH.....I'm just destined not to get any sleep at all . Poor DS will get the brunt of my grumpiness this evening and I wanted to be grump free for a change!

DaisysGotABigBump · 23/05/2007 12:59

The image of an 8 mo pg woman crawling around at the soft play is certainly interesting Holly....have fun

Just popped in for an unscheduled rant.

DH went to work yesterday to find they had changed the rota so he couldn't have today off (especially requested so he could collect DS2 from pgroup while I was at dentist in town). The person who does the rotas said "well you only get one day off don't you?" er NO. Then he said "why are you complaining it's extra hours" er, don't get paid hourly, stupid git gets -very small and pitiful - salary. (that was all irrelevant, sorry.) SO I have been awake all bloody night as too angry to sleep (because apparently it doesn't matter that he had made other plans for HIS OWN TIME.

Then DS2 cried when we went to pgroup and took ages to settle, so DH was 10 mintues late for work and snapped at me. So I cried. Then I had to go and ask my parents to collect DS2 and buggered up their day as they were going out and I didn't get back quite in time (5 minutes to spare but they weren't expecting me that early so Mum didn't get ready to go). AND the twunt hasn't even texted to see if I'm ok, survived the drive into town and back or the wrath of the hygienist. He'd better be back in time for my MW appt of he has no chance of ever having children with his next wife...

Thankfully though the dental hygienist is lovely and was very gentle and I only have a small amount of blood on my face (rather than in need of co-codamol with swollen mouth and blood pouring down my chin like when the dentist does them himself.) And she is on the comittee of the local friends of the forestry and told me about a couple of great events for the boys over the next couple of weeks. (Not that I am allowed to go alone of course...bugger).

riabutterflew · 23/05/2007 13:54

While I am in such a pro-active foul temper I am going to try and get some answers from my MW this afternoon as I feel very ill-informed.

re the black floaters, do you get a lot or just a couple of spots that float downwards? I have had a couple over the past few days, but not loads to impair vision IYSWIM.

Thigh chafing is nasty. I have "healthy" thighs and have suffered since I was at school and NEVER wear skirts without tights or cycling shorts underneath.

TA - was it you who mentioned BMI yesterday? My friend who is doing nurses training said that BMI was designed for men so it isn't relevant for women as it's thrown out by the added weight of breasts (which in my case pushes it over the edge in a big way!). I started this PG with a BMI of 35/36 I think and so have to have consultant led care, but I still don't know why (and because my MW is shorter and fatter than me I can't get any answers!)

Sorry, am rambling. No point starting to do anything as off out again soon. Not even time for a nap. Bugger.

Back later. Rx

PMSL Ria at "no chance of ever having children with his next wife"

Re floaters...I usually have the odd one or two floating about, but the opticia told me this was something to do with protein in your cornea?
This morning though, there were lots of silver and black ones all chasing each oither around..it was quite entertaining, if a little alarming. I've not had a repeat of it either, but that's cos I've been sat on my fat posterior since then!

I'd be cowering in my scholl clogs if I was your MW this afternoon

OP posts:
riabutterflew · 23/05/2007 16:04

Back from MW - nearly 45 minutes of tales of when she was training in Bradford in the '70s. (Think Chaucers Wife of Bath crossed with the nurse from Romeo and Juliet and you'd be about there...)

Have protein and blood (not sure if she was implying I might have had a show and not noticed) and high BP, so have to rest and get - shock horror - a home visit on Friday. Didn't get bloods done either, have to go to GP tomorrow, as she couldn't find the stuff to do it (my regular MW still off sick.)

Also did ask what the implications were of consultant care and if they were expecting complications - she said she didn't know because she didn't have a crystal ball. FFS I only asked.

Had better go and "rest". Think I will feed the kids then take them to rest on my mums settee til bedtime - is that resting? DH at home tomorrow so I should be ok then. (Wonder if I can get him to stay til MW been?)

Might not be back tonight but will keep you posted if anything exciting happens - don't have too much fun without me!

fatsuitgirl · 23/05/2007 16:13

Hi guys!

Daisy, I had floaters the other day - loads of black ones - and I'm like Holly, generally low blood pressure. Typically I'm 90/60 - these days it's creeping up to about 110 over 70... Although midwife said if it wasn't going up she'd be worried... Anyway, hope you get reassurance!

My ankles have disappeared. Last few days - I think it's the hot weather as well as the whole being pregnant thing, but honestly, it's a nightmare! I feel like one of those old women with orthopaedic shoes. Had to buy some flip flops today just so something will fit on my feet (there were no canoes in my size), and I nearly cried when I saw my stumps in the shoe shop mirror. Lying in the sun cheers me up no end, but am now wondering whether it's worth it...

Still, found out today from MW that baby has engaged. But also that he's very high. In other words, he's big. Or at least long. And there I was worrying he was too small..

sputnik · 23/05/2007 16:19

Can I join the floater club?
I had silver ones today. Had my BP checked on friday and it was normal though. I'm still feeling really tired and dizzy from this stomach bug I've had, plus we're at MIL's today and it's really hot and humid, maybe that's why. I'm not equipped mat-wear wise for really hot weather, which doesn't help.

Ria, if it's any consolation I get angry on your behalf everytime I hear about your DH's unpaid overtime. Hope your day improves.

Got pissed off with my DH today, MIL had some friends visiting from abroad for lunch, and DH started arranging for them + son and family to come up to ours some time in the next 2-3 weeks. Doesn't he realise we may be busy ffs? Last thing I want immediatly post or pre birth is entertaining a bunch of near strangers.

sputnik · 23/05/2007 16:26

Hi Catsuitgirl, it's raining floaters on this thread today. Can you enlighten us Derlor on the difference between black ones and silver ones?
I've been lucky with swollen legs etc. this pg, but I'm putting it down to my enforced sedantryness in the last weeks. Got puffy hands today from the heat though.

DaisysGotABigBump · 23/05/2007 16:59

Dasiy wanders in polishing her parenting crown

Went to get DS a birthday cake today and managed to steer him away from the bright blue Dr Who, the orange Mystic Force, the green and black TNMT and the red Spiderman cakes, in favour of a nice chocolate affair with no artificial colours in it.....how good am I?

No more floaters....but will phone MW if it happens again!

OP posts:
foxybrown · 23/05/2007 17:17

Am impressed Daisy!! Top parenting medal for you.

But do you think its helpful to mention chocolate cake this late in the day when I can't get out to the shops?!

Mmmm, Cadbury Swiss Gataux

How can sitting on one's arse all day be so completely exhausting? (I was sitting on my arse at playgroup and then soft play, so doing active parenting).

foxybrown · 23/05/2007 17:40

Oh Fannieannie's had a show! How exciting!
