Hehehe MKG. I DO know what you mean, because I never felt any contractions in my belly last time round. Only my back. Now I've started wondering if I'll know when it's happening. (I can hear the hollow laughing all round from the post-natal set ).

My midwife said to me that I just need to keep an eye out for anything regular, even if it's the tops of my thighs getting stiff and sore regularly. That's the key apparently. And, she did say that if by any chance (TYG hopes) that I don't realise and it's a case of "Oh my GOD, the baby is coming," then I leave a key in the door for access, call the midwife/ ambulance and if the baby actually arrives before they do, then all you do is dry the baby gently and wrap yourself and it in a warm blanket and wait. The medics then deal with cord/ placenta etc. You do nothing except cuddle baby and offer it the breast if you wish. There you are. Emergency childbirth in a nutshell. Is your dog back then? Did you mom decide it was too much of a bad influence on her dog?

Cinnamontam - It was AWFUL. To be fair, I am a person who doesn't really "get" modern art and obv I don't "get" modern dance either. I just don't. But anyway, here's what it said in the programme.

"Rabid". This piece was inspired by a TV documentary about rabies. The theme was, then, compared and related to human emotions.

WTF? 6 minutes it was. Longest 6 minutes of my life. Gagh. Some of the girls in DD's school do dance for GCSE and A level, so there were some coursework pieces that were a bit arty of me and I didn't understand, but they were short and I'm sure they were very good, in that the girls had choreographed it themselves etc. Just not my thing.

Anyway, DD's bit was jazz/ street dance to music I understood and it was a bit of jigging about. There wasnt' any meaning I was apparently, missing out on.

MKG · 18/05/2007 11:35

I feel you Pebble. Everynight between 8 and 10pm I get the worst tightenings and think "Is this it" But no. I'm ready to turn myself in to the hospital and say, just keep me until I deliver.

MKG · 18/05/2007 11:40

Will make a mental note of the emergency plan. I have it in my "What to expect book" I can just see myself delivering my baby while looking at the book, like a cook book.

The dog isn't back, but I miss him and want him back home. He keeps me company, and misses us terribly. However I know that as soon as he gets back I'll say, "You are a pain in the ass" and send him back. Besides my mom is selling her house and soon we won't have the 15 acres for him to run around on. She's also getting rid of her dog, (a great dane in a small house just isn't fair) So my dog will soon lose his best friend.

cinnamontam · 18/05/2007 11:42

Oh lordy woman - it sounds absolutely dire!! But so dire it was hilarious?? Like Eurovision at it's worst?

DH is now laughing and telling one of his mates back in Oz on MSN about the interpretive dance about rabies. He thinks he's sooooo funnny

MKG · 18/05/2007 11:45

Did any of the dancers foam at mouth?

scootermum · 18/05/2007 11:46

Juicy-try JoJo Maman Bebe for bean bags..sure I saw some on there yesterday..

It would be a pretty cool claim to fame to have your Dog deliver your baby though MKG..although not much fun for you I guess..

I need this baby to stay in till next Friday really-DH's exams are on Weds and Thurs and then we want to have at least one day til bubba arrives to relax..plus I want to take DD to Woburn Abbey Safari park on the Thurs...wonder if baby will oblige..

Does anyone else feel constantly thirsty?I just cant drink enough water at the moment..

Crikey-have just seen the time! How did that happen?!Must go and get dressed...I love being this lazy..such a treat...

twelveyeargap · 18/05/2007 11:46

LOL @ people in Oz hearing about it.

It was tedious. I think I would have laughed if it hadn't been at school. I would have made the kids feel self conscious about their own dances (this group were an older visiting group) if I'd laughed and that would be just plain mean. It was tempting though.

aprilmeadow · 18/05/2007 11:47

TYG - LOL at the Rabies dance! I have to say that i did wonder if i would know when i was in labour, even though it had only been 2 yrs since i had ds. I obviously did not realise i had been in labour on the Monday evening for several hours until my waters actually went!

Have been texting MrsJB. Jorja is doing well but is nocturnal at the moment! She is looking forward to getting home tomorrow.

scootermum · 18/05/2007 11:47

Maybe at our next meet up you could reinterpret the rabies dance for us TYG?! I am desperate to see it..what did the dancers wear? Was it in costume at all?

twelveyeargap · 18/05/2007 11:50

They were all in black and they threw themselves about a lot, waved their arms and jumped on each other and then all lay down at the end, which I'm guessing, was them all being mad and rabid and they dying... Could be wrong though. No foaming, more's the pity. THAT would have been funny.

twelveyeargap · 18/05/2007 11:56

Oh and this is SOOOO mean of me, but there were two students doing Irish dancing and I've never, ever seen such vile and tacky costumes. I bet they cost a fortune as well. Sequins all over the shop. I like a bit of sparkle, but this, this was something else. Most of the outfit was sequinned. It was like looking at the love child of Michael Flatley and a Brazillian festival dancer. Ewww.

They should be in black dresses with tasteful Celtic designs, milk white legs akimbo, IMO.

scootermum · 18/05/2007 12:07

Quite right!

cinnamontam · 18/05/2007 12:24

Ok gorgeous ladies - I'm off down the road to meet the ladies from my NCT class for a pineapple juice and to compare bumps.

Loving the sun!!! Back later

scootermum · 18/05/2007 12:49

twelveyeargap · 18/05/2007 13:55

By twelveyeargap on Fri 18-May-07 11:03:26

LG&T is at the school this morning at DS3's first assembly. Awh. No baby though. She's not a happy bunny!

She said they were off to Pizza Hut for lunch, then a walk, to try to shift the baby.

Befnal - she is gorgeous!!!!!! Love the colourful outfit as well

cinnamontam · 18/05/2007 15:54

Can someone link for me the post natal thread for all our Mum's. I can't find it

MKG · 18/05/2007 15:54

Hi,

back from the doctor. Well I'm still pregnant. I'm still only 1 cm dilated. Unfortunately I am very healthy and they aren't talking induction. So that's it.

My ob/gyn did say that my tightenings at night may be related to dehydration since people tend to drink less later in the day. So if I'm hydrated and still getting tightenings like crazy I'll have a better idea if it's the real thing or not.

TYG I read your post.

juliewoolie · 18/05/2007 15:55

she is beautiful befnal.
