Confession time (as there's no such thing as tmi). Am wearing a pad. No bleeding, but I have a cough and last night I coughed so hard I had a little leakage. The glamorous things they don't tell you about pregnancy!!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 22/09/2018 15:38

Hello ladies :-) I'm still alive! After reading all the info on P.E's, I can't actually believe I am!

I'm on four injections a day - ouch! They cause bleeding which is annoying - you scratch your arm too hard - it bleeds! My ribs are sore and I can't hold a conversation without getting out of breath! But I'M ALIVE! Grin

It's my 20 week scan on Wednesday. I'm seeing the midwife a week after and have a few other appointments slotted in here and there as my gynae team etc are gobsmacked. Usually I'd only see my respiratory consultant once a year but I saw him last week and he wants to see me in a months time.

My Dad/Mum and in-laws have been baby sitting me this week and doing school runs. I know it sounds silly but I'm petrified of being on my own at the minute! That and I can't even make food without feeling shit so other than the basic care stuff and keeping mobile, I'm not doing anything else.

I'm really scared about my 20 week scan as my blood has been thicker and I keep worrying that the baby won't have grown properly :-(

Sorry for the long post!

SoozC · 22/09/2018 15:48

Looking, glad to hear you're being looked after. It must be so hard. Try not to worry about the scan, although easier said than done. Hopefully all will be well, I look forward to hearing your good news on Wednesday (positive thinking over here for you).

I've always had bad pelvic floor muscles - used to trampoline and had to wear pads! I'll get on it, we do some pelvic floor in aquanatal but that's it so will try and do more!

SoozC · 22/09/2018 20:56

Can't download the app as phone is full, but thanks for the recommendation!

Rubberduckies · 26/09/2018 07:42

How are you doing looking?

So I said I would need to wean myself off poas- I ran out of internet cheapies so that solved that! I had one more digital and did that yesterday to get my 3+ weeks thing, so now I'm done. Perhaps. Early scan in 12days time. Yay!

I can't work out if my queasiness is worse or better when I eat, so I'm eating. I'm away on a course at the moment and they are feeding us amazingly well. Yesterday I had a cooked breakfast, welcome pastries, mini bagels and tropical fruit for morning break, poached salmon and lemon cheesecake for lunch, fruit tarts and mozzarella and tomato skewers for afternoon break. And then we had pizza for dinner. The majority of people on the course are NHS staff so everyone is really making the most of it. I'm lucky if I have time for a sandwich in my car between appointments sometimes!!

WonkyDonk87 · 26/09/2018 07:57

Wow @Rubberduckies what course are you on? That grub sounds amazing! (Hope you get good pens after too!)

Rubberduckies · 26/09/2018 08:08

It is bloody amazing! It's for a type of behavioural therapy for suicidal and self harming women. So maybe they think we need all the nice things to keep us engaged with what can be a tricky topic. It's incredible. We had a fourth break on the Monday (and all different snacks again, there were doughnuts, macaroons, mini quiche, scones, lemon drizzle cake, goats cheese tarts, popcorn) I'm so excited to find out what we'll have today. Just about to drag myself downstairs for breakfast. Course starts at 9 so I probably can't stay in bed mnetting much longer....

Rubberduckies · 26/09/2018 08:10

Not so many pens I'm afraid to say though. There is a pen which has a highlighter on the end. That's helpful. And there was a hotel biro and mechanical pencil in my hotel room.

WonkyDonk87 · 26/09/2018 09:35

Ah! Training related to the great wise Marsha Linehan? Grin Grub sounds great.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 26/09/2018 14:18

💙💙Team Blue💙💙 Perfect 20 week scan, despite me being broken! I'm still feeling shitty and seem to be getting a cold which sucks was on top of clots lol. I hope everyone else is well x x

LimpLettice · 26/09/2018 14:31

Blue yay! 💙 do I remember you have girls so far Looking? Glad he is looking so well. Is it me or do us yammers seem to have a lot of boys coming? Is it the yams?!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 26/09/2018 14:59

@LimpLettice. Yes I have girls :-) My 5 year old will be thrilled - my almost 12 year old...not so much 😂. Yeah I think we are mostly boys aren't we?

SoozC · 26/09/2018 18:10

Gotta be the yams... We should do a scientific study: 'Does eating yams affect the sex of a mini-Yammer?'

Rocking along here. Not sleeping brilliantly but still functioning. Counting down the days til maternity!

SoozC · 26/09/2018 18:11

Meant to say yay to team blue, Looking!

BGDino · 27/09/2018 05:53

Hi everyone back again. 8+2/40, nausea is a fixture of my life atm but trying to reassure myself it's a sign things are going as they should be and Maxolon/Zofran (metoclopramide/ondansetron) are the BEST. All starting to feel more real now as a) have booked first OB visit and 10+3/40, 13/40 scans and b) had to buy maternity bras as couldn't breathe in my normal ones (and super unimpressed about going from 16D to 18E!!!... where will they stop???!!!)

We've started to refer to our little one as our little dumpling, seems appropriate given we're Asian. My mum looked up the Chinese zodiac animal for 2019 and it's the Year of the Pig so I guess it's a little pork dumpling!!! XD XD XD

@SoozC love the idea of a study... I had taro milk tea with hubby the other night for dessert, wonder if it means we'll have a boy? We'll know soon enough as we're doing the NIPT at 10+3/40 scan and have decided to find out.

Question - is it normal to be so tired in the first trimester? I'm shattered and that's just from doing normal work. Seriously considering cutting down from 4 days/week to 3 but then feeling guilty as thinking "other people work way more than you and suck it up, why can't you?"

Deep breaths Urgh I have felt a bit nauseated on and off for the last few days. I hate it when nausea springs back up. I know it sounds a bit weird and icky but I'm a little afraid to be sick at the minute in case I see any blood! I've read that sometimes with clots you can bring some up and that would really freak me out!

My life is a little bit like a series of unfortunate events at the minute 😂 We need to get a new car, it massively failed the MOT yesterday. These things always happen before Christmas!

Is @physicskate about? Not heard from her for a while.

@soozc. Ha ha! Team Blue will be a bit different from Team Pink, which is all I've known for almost 12 years 😂.

@BGDino. I slept for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland during the first weeks! I was shattered!

SoozC · 27/09/2018 12:38

I'm still knackered at 37 weeks tomorrow. I never was amazing at sleeping and now I never have a night where I don't lie awake at night for an hour at least. I was awake at 4am this morning for ages and Penguin wasn't letting me sleep - he was having a party!

Si1ver · 27/09/2018 12:49

37 weeks Sooz wishful thinking right there 😂

I'm still knackered, but not as bad as the first trimester. I remember walking around in a permanent fog of exhaustion. I'd be asleep on the sofa at 7pm, my husband would wake me up to eat something then I'd be in bed by 8. I have no idea how anyone does the first trimester with other children, I could barely cope with a job, a commute and a dog.

SoozC · 27/09/2018 17:43

I just noticed! I blame the lack of sleep and being busy at work!

SoozC · 28/09/2018 07:51

Had an argument with DH in the middle of the night. I'm only getting about 5 hours sleep a night and currently have a cough/cold. He woke me up after I'd drifted off in the early hours because I was snoring. I was so upset. He's not working atm so if he doesn't sleep he can have a rest or a nap. I, however, have to go and do a full day's work with 28 7-year-olds and the stress from the headteacher. I told him it's unfair to wake me, he should just deal with it. Then I got up and had a cry in the bathroom.

Honestly, maternity leave can't come soon enough.

Si1ver · 28/09/2018 08:55

I'm not surprised you had a cry Sooz. Waking you up was thoughtless.

Why aren't you sleeping at the moment? Can anything be done about that? Everything is easier to handle when there's a good night's sleep behind you.

I need a tidy room to sleep, no TV in the bedroom. I use a pillow spray and I have a great maternity pillow which helps keep me in the right position. I also love an audio book to drift off to. This works particularly well in the middle of the night as you listen to the book rather than fret about not sleeping. I'm re-listening to the Discworld books are the minute, familiar and comforting.

WonkyDonk87 · 28/09/2018 10:28

I'd have cried too Sooz (that or I'd have lumped him). 28 7 year olds sounds exhausting, so I hope your Friday is going quickly. I second all of S1lver's sleep advice, just used a pillow spray last night and regularly use radio4 through my phone to get to sleep. Have an early night tonight, even if you don't sleep right away you need to rest up.
