As we enter month 5 of our pregnancies we need a 5th thread!

Good luck to everyone having their 20 week scan this/next week :)

I'm sure mine has dropped or she's gone head down since yesterday. The bump seems to be in more of a teardrop shape (fuller towards the bottom) and I seem to be feeling more kicks higher up, so I'm hoping that's her legs and her head is down!!

Fingers crossed!! My worst fear is having to have a c-sec and stay in for a while and then take ages to recover. I want to be up and about as soon as possible.

NikkiL123 · 31/05/2018 16:54

Anyone else's feet exploded in this heat 😫

Emmasmum2013 · 31/05/2018 17:59

Yep!! Mine looks exactly the same. And my ankles and lower legs are all puffy. It’s always fine on a weekend. It only happens when I’m sat down all day at work.

Gem173 · 01/06/2018 06:31

Tmi but is anyone else’s farts a bit more smellier🙄😳 I have lots of gas these days and it’s not smelling particularly pleasant to say the least !

StrawberryLemonade · 01/06/2018 07:03

A bit Gem. I think in my case it’s related to constipation from the iron tablets. The joy!

My new hold-all arrived yesterday so I have a hospital bag to start packing now although not sure it’s big enough! Just need to get the new changing bag then I can get them sorted.

BeesKnees9 · 01/06/2018 07:58

@peterpanwendy me too re. the leaking nips! I have been leaking since about 24 weeks, only small amounts and once I bent down to take the washing out of the machine and I sort of sprayed Blush the glamour! It normally only happens in the evening/whilst asleep though so I am hoping I don't have any major incidents during the day at work because that would be a bit awkward!

@NikkiL123 you poor thing, hope you put your feet up last night and the swelling has gone down!

@Gem173 mine are absolutely horrendous, again I am fine during the day but when I get home all hell breaks lose :(

Loved all the changing bag recommendations, I was going to use an old bag but now i am thinking all those compartments would make life a lot easier..

I have gained a hideous amount of weight, I am 28 weeks on Monday and hoping that my appetite will decrease/stomach gets squashed by baby so I am not hungry all. the. time.
At work on Tuesday I was having a conversation with a colleague and someone walked past me, DOUBLED BACK, and said "if you are feeling large and uncomfortable you should have a bath!" and walked off. We were talking about a project and nothing to do with pregnancy :S I think the heat is making me super irritable, because anyone that comments on me/bump/baby/unsolicited "advice" that is about 20 years out of date I actually want to punch. and breeeeeeeeeath. (I promise i am a nice person really!!!)

Emmasmum2013 · 01/06/2018 08:45

@BeesKnees9
That’s an appealing thing to say!! I can’t believe they went out of their way to tell you that.

You should have said “why is that what you do?”

Emmasmum2013 · 01/06/2018 08:46

@NikkiL123 hows the baby shower planning going? X

peterpanwendy · 01/06/2018 09:17

@BeesKnees9 glad to know I'm not the only one!!

I would have been livid if someone had said that to me! People need to keep their 'advice' to themselves. I haven't weighed myself in over a month because I'm too scared I know it's going to be awful! I feel like a whale 🐳 😔

OP posts:
NikkiL123 · 01/06/2018 09:23

@BeesKnees9 omg!! Thats awful, if someone said that to me they wouldn't have finished their sentence by the time i had punched them in the face ( like you nice person really! but pregnancy hormones have turned me into a lunatic 😂) as long as you and baby are happy other people's opinions can do one!!

@Emmasmum2013 i spoke to my mum about it and that sent me even more crazy because she mentioned Prosecco, i was like waaaaaaaait a minute,
A) i hardly ever drunk alcohol before i got pregnant
B) even if i wanted to drink i can't
so if you're telling me a chunk of my budget has been spent on alcohol i am seriously going to loose my shit! She said her and my dad have paid for the alcohol so not come out my money i think she was only saying that to calm me down though lol!

@Gem173 not really noticed a change but whilst we are being honest sometimes mine were awful any way 😂!

SpriteGirl · 01/06/2018 09:24

Weighed myself this morning. Have put on about a stone and a half. For my start weight I should put on about 2-2.5 stone so I’m guessing that’s ok seeing as there’s two months to go. My appetite hasn’t been huge recently but things change quickly in pregnancy!

Emmasmum2013 · 01/06/2018 09:30

I'm not in the mood to weigh myself today. I've had such a rubbish morning. Yesterday afternoon, I felt like crap and was so tempted to ask for the afternoon off so I could go home and relax for a bit. But I had stuff to do so powered through. Now today I feel twice as bad and really can not be bothered being here.

DD was a total nightmare this morning. I've been awake since about 4am because of needing the toilet and DH getting up and out for work really early. The only thing I'm hanging on for at the moment is the buffet lunch. Another preggo lady at my work is finishing for her mat leave today so I want to be able to say bye to her. I wish I was finishing today :(

@NikkiL123 Haha I bet your friends will suddenly find some more money in the budget now your parents are paying for the alcohol! Wink

Emmasmum2013 · 01/06/2018 09:41

I nearly cried this morning because I accidentally brought the iPad downstairs rather that putting it on charge upstairs. So it meant I had to go upstairs again. Seems a perfectly reasonable reason for a breakdown to me right now.Confused

NikkiL123 · 01/06/2018 09:44

@Emmasmum2013 sorry to hear you have had a crap sleep/morning, can you not say bye to the lady by lunchtime (obvs gotta stay for the buffet 😂) and then go home after that? X

@SpriteGirl a stone and half sounds really healthy. i've not weighed myself at all, i dont want to upset myself but my work tops pre pregnancy still fit me (although defo getting snug!) so i just use that as a guide.

peterpanwendy · 01/06/2018 10:20

I just weighed myself.. 22lb gain in (almost) 28 weeks. I don't think that's that bad? My bump is showing slightly over average (by a few days) and I can still squeeze into some pre pregnancy clothes, I still feel like a whale though! Shame my BMI at book in was 30.0 and I still have to go for the stupid GTT 😭

OP posts:
peterpanwendy · 01/06/2018 10:30

Oh and @Emmasmum2013 don't worry I am crying for the most ridiculous things at the moment. I just can't stop! I definitely wouldn't be walking back upstairs if I were you x

OP posts:
NikkiL123 · 01/06/2018 10:38

@peterpanwendy @Emmasmum2013 i cried yesterday because my pen ran out of ink. Like actual tears... gotta love these hormones! X

NikkiL123 · 01/06/2018 12:26

Just had an email, pram arrives monday wooo hoooo! X

Peregrane · 01/06/2018 15:14

I am seriously panicking when reading about all of you packing your hospital bags and ordering the last bits and bobs. I've had a to do list the length of my arm for months, and just not getting on with it. Sleeping worse and worse and can only barely manage the daily minimum.

Emmasmum2013 · 01/06/2018 18:58

I ended up going home after the buffet haha. I’m just destroyed. So I went home and had a relax before I went to get DD from her nan’s.

Feeling a bit better now and DH has suggested a takeaway for tea which I am all for!!

@Peregrane don’t worry. Once the nesting kicks in you’ll find energy you never knew existed to get all the bits and bobs done!

Emmasmum2013 · 01/06/2018 18:59

Awww my bathroom scales have ran out of battery. What a shame 😂

BertieBotts · 01/06/2018 19:32

I'm not packing any bag yet. We just got home last night from the trip home to see if we could catch FIL's last moments (we didn't but luckily DH felt he was able to say goodbye) and be with everyone and I'm totally exhausted but the speed of the last week has made the end feel quite far away so I am not too bothered.

I think we have 99% of what we need though. Just the car seat which I've actually seen a great deal on this morning so we may order that this weekend. I think I finally got my clothing colour preferences through to SIL plus emphasised the lack of sleepsuits in Germany, and she's picked us up a gorgeous bag of loads of sleepsuits from a car boot, I could have kissed her! So I need to wash them all now (as they have been in MIL's house which stinks of smoke and mould) and count everything up but I think we're done clothes wise, done bedding wise, done everything else wise, need some nappies but will leave until last minute.

I've put on about 15kg too, I'm also 28 weeks today. Woohoo! Feels like a good milestone. I think baby has learned to startle as he did it a couple of times on the looooong drive home yesterday. With so many hours sat feeling him kick I think I've also got a pretty good idea of his position, I get the strongest kicks on the top left of my bump which I think are feet and then some weaker ones down at the bottom half of the middle on either side which are probably arms. So I think he's head down but faces different ways depending on how he feels. My feet definitely swelled up yesterday but I do find drinking and putting them up helps a lot with this.

NikkiL123 · 01/06/2018 20:06

@Emmasmum2013 glad you are feeling better, a takeaway sounds like a good idea, now to decide what to have!!

@BertieBotts i wonder why Germany lack sleep suits!? Is there other notable things you cant get? I know its a big place but my brother lives in germany (near Berlin) and comes home quite often so if there is something you really need and not too far from him happy to send it back with him for you! X

peterpanwendy · 01/06/2018 20:42

@Peregrane I haven't even got a bag to pack let alone started packing it! Don't worry plenty of time yet :)

@Emmasmum2013 that made me chuckle Grin

@BertieBotts I bet you are glad to be home. I am so excited to reach 28 weeks on Sunday, third trimester! What do they use in Germany instead of sleepsuits?

I bought a (fair) few things when I found out baby was a girl but haven't bought anything in a looong while and I don't think I will now. I have a mix of vests/sleepsuits that are newborn, up to 1m and 0-3m. I also have a few pairs of leggings (my weakness, I love them) and cardigans again all a mix of sizes. Oh and I bought a couple of rompers/dresses that I just couldn't resist. I won't buy anymore as I know my family will want to buy her gifts! I hope they get some bigger sizes too.

We have all the big bits now but still lots of little odd bits to get. I still don't have a changing bag and have no idea what I want!

YouCantBeSirius · 01/06/2018 21:05

My DH bought me a Harry Potter duffle bag that I'm going to use for my hospital bag. I've packed it then unpacked it just to make sure everything fits. I just need another bag for the baby things. Mine and DHs family have been incredibly generous and given us money for our wedding gift so we are going out tomorrow to buy a cot, mattress, sheets and a car seat.

I've not bought any newborn clothes because my first DD was quite a big baby and all the newborn clothes has to be returned. So I've started at 1 month clothing then some 0-3 months things.
