LOL catkin...they'll soon learn to keep their distance when there is a squawking LO in the pram and car seat.

Ria....stop putting yourself down, I'm sure your nose is lovely ....I hope the swelling is nothing sinister. Good luck at the hospital. Can you make it on 19th to meet Bumper and I in York? e-mail me on daisybump at yahoo dot co do uk.

Anyone else in the general area is welcome too!

Got our invite through for DHs friend's wedding today...its on 7th July, so LO could be anything between 2 weeks and 5 weeks old. Booked a family room in the hotel where they're having the reception, so hopefully it'll all be manageable. The bride is due any day now as well so mine won't be the only little bub.

I feel the same Ria, being on this thread has been one of the few enjoyable things about this pg for me

Daisy you've given me hope! We've had a wedding invitation for the 14th July (My EDD is 27th June) and I'm still totally undecided about whether to accept or not. It's about a two hour drive away too. I'd really like to go but DH is a bit sceptical!

Fatcatkin...I suppose it depends when your LO puts in an appearance, you might be going straight to the church from the delivery suite!!

We've booked the hotel and will confirm for the wedding (about two hours from here as well), but with the proviso that we may have to cut things short, depending how I feel, LO is feeding etc etc. I really want to go to the wedding though as the groom had a really bad accident a few years ago (climbing accident and has lost hi lower leg and most of his fingers) and has come through such a lot to get to where he is now and we all want to be there for him.....he met his DW-to-be on the internet too!!

If it comes to it, my two boys can go to represent the family, and I'll stay at home with the LO....

Hello! No word from Doggus yet - and Sputnik, come on now, tell us, how is your cervix??? (did you ever in a million years think some total stranger would be asking you such rude questions? ).

Had MW appt today and all is well - was informed it's defo a "girl" heartbeat (over 140 bpm) so one more clue that my pink purchases may not be going to waste/ebay after all!! Hooray!!!! Bring on the ruffles and dresses and little girlie outfits!!!!

FWIW my second pg was WAY easier than my first. In fact this time I'm constantly hitting my bump with things because I simply forget I'm pg and protruding 2ft out the front!!

Right someone mentioned sugar puffs and now I have to have some. Off to the shops. Toodles ladies x

afternoon all

well after barley gracing the board with my presence over the last 8 months i have posted quite a few times this week, dunno where this sudden burst of energy is coming from!
ive been a really good girl and prepared my "homemade takeaway" meals (shepards pie and chilli con carne) and put them in the freezer today, ready for those days post birth that you NEED to eat something proper but havent got the energy/time/soexhausestedur worriedu'llburnthekitchendown just the chicken and sausage caseroles left to do now.
ooo im turning into a right shining example of motherhood
i will be colour co-ordinating my tea towels with my dish coths soon!

Natty....very impressed wiht your cooking. I should get around to doing that, but first I'll have to defrost the freezer so I can get stuff in. DH can do the cooking for the first couple of weeks anyway, it'll be after that the problems arise.

How's the housing situation?

Lilkel....my LOs hb has been around the 140 mark all the way through so there's maybe some truth in that myth...MWs seem agreed on it anyway. I wish you got your notes back as it would've been good to compare DS notes with this LO......I'm getting more paranoid that it's not a pink one and can imagine DH doing a mad rush around the shops exchanging everything for blue. I did buy some white newborn stuff though so I'll be OK for a day or two. Ironed lots of little vests today...can't believe how tiny they are

Wow Natty - I just told me other half and he said "Well you'd better get cracking then!!" Cheeky Bugger! When r u due?

Report
NattyThomasandEllen · 08/05/2007 16:00

due 28th may (according to scan dates)
or 3rd June (according to mine)

i didnt bother last time as couldnt be bothered, and really wished i had, as my family isnt terribly supportive when it comes to help out. hubby cant cook anything other than pasta bake, and freezer food (fish fingers etc) so really dont want to rely on him lmao!

no progress on housing, seeing them thursday.

just thought freezer meals wont be much good without a home!

love to all

The best thing we ever got was a slow cooker - you literally CAN'T burn anything in one of those. Whack your stew on in the morning and you're guaranteed hot tasty food by dinnertime

Oh good at least your another month ahead of me - and as i go on Mat Leave this week, I know that ive got time to be just as prepared!!

Off for a quick lie down b4 "the MIL" arrives for her weekly Dinner!!! (Give me strength!)

A slow cooker sounds like a good idea as you can chuck it all in when you have a mo, and then don't need to think about it again. Can you do curries and chilli and stuff badZ....I remember my folks doing endless rolls of brisket when I was a kid and it kind of put me off.

Report
BadZelda · 08/05/2007 16:21

you can make the most DELICIOUS moroccan lamb curry in it - or any kind of curry / stew really. Will post some recipes if I get the time on one of the cooking threads?

Mostly Stuart using it at the moment as he does almost all our cooking...but I will be more on the case once I stop working.

And of course they use a fraction of the power of an oven and only cost 20 quid - so a winner ecologically and financially

Just been lurking around the May thread since April have all but finished.....by heck that lot could talk for their countries.....sounds like lots of promise of babies to come in the next few days.....

Right off to feed the monster......if I can drag him away from Power Rangers that is

Any time...I may not be Holly, but I can generally find pretty much anything on the interweb.

I can cook lots of things but hate the 'drudgery' of having to cook meals. DH always has his menu planned out, but left to my own devices I would quite happily live on sandwiches...

sputnik · 08/05/2007 16:49

For all on the edge of your seats for news of my cervix.... well short of sticking my finger up and having a good poke I won't know til my apt on thursday but I was told when I had my scan 10 days or so ago that the upper end was closed, which is why I have been up and about a bit more. Also i haven't had anymore BHs or anything, and that whole area feels much less sore, so I think resting has actually done a lot of good.

I'm really hoping to get the all clear, I had the same thing with dilated cervix for 2-3 weeks before DD was born, and she came at 38 weeks, so as I'm nearly 34 weeks it shouldn't be a massive problem. Don't feel labour really imminent yet.

sputnik · 08/05/2007 16:53

Totally agree with you there BadZ. Love cooking, but hate having to cook, that make sense?
