HIWBB - happy birthday hope you had a good day, with a yummy lunch. Do you also have some belated celebrations planned with your dh on his return?

Hello everyone else, hope you're all ok, (((((hugs))))) to those having bad days, I haen't read all the posts for today as I only had 4 hours sleep last night as my bump was very active and kept kicking, so will catch up with everyone's news tomorrow, I just popped on to wish HIWBB happy birthday.

Happy belated birtday HIWBB!!
Hello to everyone else - thank you for making me feel so welcome.
I saw my midwife yesterday and she has prescribed gentle iron by solgar and spatone sachets. She also took my blood - but said it didnt look anaemic - so she thinks that the gentle additional supplements will make me feel heaps better. Should have actual results tomorrow. Am shattered today so not heading into work - she told me not to push myself too hard! I feel really guilty - but i have to put the baby and myself first now!
Hope everyone else is doing ok - the last few weeks were flying by - is starting to drag a little now!

laksa · 14/06/2007 08:54

Morning girls,

Happy birthday for yesterday HWBB, hope you had a lovely time!

Edie, SPD can vary in its severity, some people can't swim as it makes them feel worse but as long as you don't do breast stroke it should be ok...am feeling a bit chicken to go now that my bump is bigger as feel a bit self conscious.

Luxmum, I am just having a fat week at the moment so everything revolves around how I am feeling about my body including the genuinely lovely announcement of someoneelses engagement, self obsessed much? Glad you're energy levels are up, how does the doctor know what the bump weighs?

Kinki, when I moved in with my dh I told him ' I don't DO ironing' and I never have, I drip dry all my clothes and only run an iron over them if I really have to...the last time this occurred was over 2 years ago!! What am I going to do when I have school uniforms I wonder....well the dh is very good at ironing shirts and so if he has the skills he should use them

Am feeling a bit down this morning, not sure why just feel fat and have so much to sort out. We have builders coming in next week and the house is a mess, ah well I'm sure I'll be feeling more positive tomorrow.

Hope everyone is ok!

xx

Hello everyone

i had my 26wk fundal height measurement and was spot on but with my last pregnancy i measured 30cm at this point. I'm pretty sure it's a measurement of your uterus rather than the baby. People carry different amounts of fluid and the position of the baby makes a difference as well as the person who is measuring. The midwifes use it as proof things are progressing. I think the only way to get measurements of the baby is via a scan where they can actually measure length etc and calculate probable birth weight.

Sorry if any info is incorrect this is just what i think!

Have a good day everyone xx

OMG! I've just walked past a shop window and caught a sideway glimpse of myself. Where the hell did that bulk come from? Thinking of going back to the shop and asking if they use convex glass in their windows, cos that reflection couldn't have been right, could it?

MrsFish · 14/06/2007 09:50

I know what you mean, I get very depressed seeing yself in shop windows, I look just awful.

Does anyone else think they are the worst looking pregnant woman? I keep seeing all these pregnant women and they all seem to look so nice, with nice neat bumps and I just feel like a whale in clothes

loobybump · 14/06/2007 09:57

Morning everyone

I went to the gym and the gym dude was brilliant he set me out a programme they do it especially for each trimester got stuff for my legs and bum its great and i did a whole hour!! gives you so much more energy for the evening i was buzzing... but this is only the first day. o an then i had a cream egg mmm! haha!

ok im worried now becasue i have never been measured my midwife has never measured me.

loobybump · 14/06/2007 10:00

ok iv just read what everyone was saying so me going on about the gym and all that stuff was very insensative.. but the reason why i'v started swimming and gym is becasue i was feeling so down about myself..! but apologise for rambling on x

kinki · 14/06/2007 10:10

don't worry looby! I liked the bit about the creme egg best.

MrsMar · 14/06/2007 12:21

morning everyone... I hope you're all ok. I'm feeling pretty rough, really exhausted (like first trimester exhaustion!) and slightly lightheaded. I'm not sure I'm going to last the day at work, I'm down to work until 11.30pm and it feels a very long way off (I didn't start til 11.30am so not as bad as it sounds!) I think I'll follow dal's example and start putting the baby first!

I'm still two weeks away from my next set of bloods, I'm wary of taking any iron supplements (I was taking spatone) without being told to do so by the midwife, esp after the news last week that iron supplements can result in a small baby if not specifically recommended by a midwife. It could just be one of those days and not an iron deficiency at all.

Sympathies for all those feeling fat, it's something I'm used to (boo hoo!) I'm just glad I look pregnant now rather than just blobby!

laksa · 14/06/2007 12:47

Mrsfish, kinki, know what you mean. I keep seeing all these lovely svelte pregnant women with neat low bumps. Today I am just a frumpy grump!

Quick question, I haven't had midwife appointment since 16 weeks and have my next on the 27th June, are they going to start doing internals or can I leave my lady garden to run wild until nearer the end?? Also am slightly nervous as to what to expect re internals...

xx

FilBrit · 14/06/2007 12:57

Hello everyone!

I'm actually feeling rrealyl good today as last night was the first night in ages that my bump didn't wake me up with kicking and I feel so much better for a good nights sleep. Although I do know what you all mean about feeling big, my bump feels huge and I think I've also started (can't belive I'm admitting to this) to waddle instead of walk

Laksa - with my first DD I didn't have any internals until I was in labour, so let that lady garden run wild!

Edie - know how you feel re moving - We're relocating to the Philipines for a year in 3 weeks time, and although I'm super excited about the move, I'm also starting to get a little stressed about everything still to be done!

Rin23 · 14/06/2007 13:52

hello all, just touching base really and catching up with the chat... I've had the most manic week and the pressure is just lifting, thank Gd.

Totally sympathising with all you feeling fat - I feel enormous. Had a few "wow look at you" comments... not sure how to take them but I'm determined not to take offence. It's odd how people would never discuss your size normally, and suddenly, once you're preggers, it's open season!
I've also been checking myself out in shop windows - oh dear oh dear. nuff said.

Anyway, I'm off tomorrow to see a friend with baba in Edinburgh so expecting some top tips over the weekend. Quite looking forward to 4 hour train ride just to rest!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Pennypops · 14/06/2007 14:12

Thanks Mrs Mar and Kinki for explaining this whole fundal height concept. I thought I had read up sufficiently on this sort of thing but I clearly haven't!

Laksa - PMSL re lady garden! I don't think they do internals as a matter of course but you might want to to keep the top line trimmed as they feel around pretty far down when assessing size and position and stuff. During my encounter with cute doc yesterday I was glad I'd waxed!!

Pennypops · 14/06/2007 14:14

And to all those feeling fat I am very much with you. I've just stopped looking in shop windows! The next step is leaving my glasses off/contact lenses out. Sometimes ignorance is bliss x

Tinkjon · 14/06/2007 14:20

Kinki, I agree with you about the amount of washing you do with a little one, but I think there's a trade-off because of how the noise of the washing machine makes babies sleep! I used to run an empty wash and stick DD in front of the machine, just so that she would sleep

Looby, re. height of fundus, I was only measured at my last appointment - before that the midwife said they couldn't really measure accurately so didn't bother.

No internals during whole pregnancy last time here either - THANK GOD!!!

Got dreaded GTT on Monday but is DH's birthday on Saturday - not sure if I'm going to be able to resist the chocolate cake, yikes!

Nettee · 14/06/2007 14:47

oh no - school uniform ironing - hadn't thought of that before - few years to go yet at least

only time you are likely to get an internal outside of labour is for a sweep if you want one after your due date so no worries about that yet

as for comments on size I had an obstetric registrar at work tell me I looked furter on than I am so it must be true! too much chocolate

laksa · 14/06/2007 15:09

hmm just had a big slice of carrot cake which the bump is now appreciating by somersaulting all around my womb

Pheeww about the internals. My dh is going to be disappointed though I had already draughted him in to do a little topiary down there and now he won't get the chance...I am mighty relieved to be honest as I let him prune our apple tree last year and he massacred the poor thing. I can reach the top bit myself so will just do that.

MrsFish · 14/06/2007 15:15

You just made me lol Laska :D

MrsFish · 14/06/2007 15:16

Ooops meant Laksa

ThomCat · 14/06/2007 15:17

I've not been hare for ages, how will I ever catch up now?

Well hope everything is ok with everyone.

I'm suffering with hayfever and a late night and early morning today and need to crawl under my desk and send everyone away. Other than that I'm all good. Ordered my fan for the bedroom online this week in preperation for the months ahead!

laksa · 14/06/2007 15:33

glad to oblige Mrs fish, actually I can't believe I forgot this but only a couple of months ago my dh decided to tidy himself up down there (doesn't normally bother ) and he ended up cutting one of his bollocks with a pair of nail scissors...there was blood everywhere I think I will def be going to the salon for a professional job!

laksa · 14/06/2007 15:35

sorry about the hayfever thomcat, must be horrible not being able to take anything. Have you been pregnant during the summer before?

ThomCat · 14/06/2007 15:42

It's bloody horrific is what it is!
Yes, other babies both born in December so been pregnant through summer twice. Can't for life of me rememebr if I was given anything. Tried Boots and they just said no grina nd bear it basically! Think I'll try my GP. Sneezing while pregnnat, after already having 2 kids, is not a good look!

laksa · 14/06/2007 15:45

ooh, never thought of that. Next time plan to get pregnant during winter!! Have you tried vaseline up your nostrils? Sounds daft I know
