Hellooo!
lol at those of you looking forward to some quality night time feeds! Are you expecting your first lo's?
I too am the size of a whale, and starting to get fed up with saying "yes it is just the one..."
MrsMar, when are you due, my hat off to you for not stopping work until 1st Sept.
I haven't sorted anything out baby wise, its all in the loft at the moment, although I am getting around to thinking double or tandem.
Finally had midwife appointment yesterday, all well. Was given the predicted growth chart (nonsense as far as dd was concerned) and the middle weight predicted at 40 weeks is 8lb13.
Has anyone else had theirs? And if so what was your middle line weight? (there are three, top, middle and bottom)

MrsFish · 12/06/2007 17:25

I've got my next midwife appointment on friday morning, I guess she will do that then?

seamonster · 12/06/2007 17:30

If not its probably to do with areas. (although mine is fairly backwards)

Hopeitwontbebig · 12/06/2007 17:42

ccpink I don't think you're alone in the DH pregnancy lack of enthusiasm! I think they don't find the baby quite as tangible as us. My DH 'tries' to seem more interested that he actually is, but like yours he doesn't have the patience to sit hand on tum and wait! As soon as the LO is here, they're SO into them! PS sorry you're not feeling too good today.

PurpleLostPrincess Welcome back!

Chattyhan I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend.

FioFio How are you feeling today? Any better? Hope so.

Is anyone else having these 'OMG this is actually really happening, I am going to have a baby in 3 months!' thoughts at the moment? It seems to have only just hit me!

Well DH is in the air as we speak, his flight was delayed by an hour. He's feeling really bad. He bought me some perfume at the weekend and a cd yesterday. He also bought me a sandwich for my birthday lunch tomorrow and a ready meal for my birthday dinner, bless him.

Hi seamonster... baby due 19th September according to scans... I'm not as heroic as I sound though because I've got tons of annual leave to use up, so I'll actually be finishing work nearer the 17th August!

I haven't seen a growth chart thingy... would they be put in your notes together with all your other scan data? I was given a sheet of paper with loads of measurements on after my last scan, which they stapled in to the back of my maternity notes. I didn't see anything obviously about size, not sure I want to know though, could give me one more thing to worry about if it said 10lber on the way!

I've just passed on a work trip to Brussels, how lazy am I? They wanted me to go next weekend, but I gave them some guff about being too close to my no fly date (I'll be 28 weeks, so getting close, although technically I could still fly) Just not sure I can be arsed!

seamonster · 12/06/2007 17:49

I got mine at my 26 week (plus some) midwife appt, you might get one at 28 weeks when they drain you of more blood!
I stopped work at the beginning (ish) of August with ds1, so you are a hero, he wasn't due til end of October!
At the scan they said he measured on the small size and midwife agreed with that yesterday.
It's knowing what to ask I suppose, I was more interested in gender and size once the all clear has been given

Hopeitwontbebig · 12/06/2007 18:04

TBH I don't really take much notice of all those sizing measurements etc. When I was having DS1 right up to my labour they thought he was going to be a 7lb baby, he was 10lb 10oz! I had a sizing scan at 32 weeks with DS2, it predicted an 8lb baby, he was 10lb 4oz!!!

I'm having a sizing scan again at 32 weeks this time, but won't really be paying much attention!

FioFio have you spoken to your midwife about it?

OP posts:
kinki · 12/06/2007 19:55

I only work one day a week, and work in a freelance kind of way. So I don't have contracted hours as such. When I had ds2 (worked the same back then) I didn't qualify for anything, not maternity leave (stingy employers - NHS), not SMP (didn't earn enough to qualify) and not maternity allowance (can't remember why). So I gave up 2 of my shifts and had 2 weeks off. It was bloody knackering and hard after a section.

This time round I'm determined to find a way to get some paid time off. We can't afford for me not to work and I could really do with a break. (Because of the way I work, I don't get sick or holiday leave either). My boss and HR seem to think I'll qualify for something but they are dragging their heels a bit. If work won't give me anything I at least need my matb1 back so I can try for SMP through the social security office. Think I'll chase them up tomorrow. Anyway hope I get somewhere. We joked already that as my working day is friday and my section is booked for a friday, I could do my work before the op (I work in the hosp) and then I'll have a whole week off to recover before I go back for my next shift! So that's doable then!

Hello everyone - I was posting on the pregnancy board and one of the lovely mnetters invited me over to the due in Sept thread (thanks HIWBB). I am 24+4 weeks pregnant with my first - no idea of what we are having, we wanted to keep it a surprise.
Have had a good pregnancy so far - but have suddenly found that my bump has grown overnight (how does that happen?) and my energy levels have plummetted.
I will be having a GTT done at some point as my grandmother was severe diabetic and i also need the anti d injections as I am rhesus neg and DH is rhesus pos.
I have been in heaven since discovering mumsnet a few weeks ago! Is great to see and understand what everyone else is going through!

Hopeitwontbebig · 12/06/2007 20:06

Yay welcome on board dal21, glad you came across!!

Kinki, bloomin NHS, they need to look after decent people like you!

I agree about not taking them seriously, dd was predicted to be 9lb/10lb at 40 weeks, was 7lb 8 at 39+4.
I actually read this chart wrong as well. He is predicted to be 8lb 13 at 42 weeks, 7lb something at 40 and if the 20 week scan and midwife measuring is anything to go by 6lb something.
So there you have it.
Yes, all of a sudden you explode. It will soon be weekly.
I am a SAHM so am already not working.
Apparently.
If you are really drained all the time, try boosting your iron intake through foods. Don't take tablets unless prescribed by doctor/midwife.

EdieMcredie · 12/06/2007 20:15

Welcome Dal21

I felt mega emotional today and ended up crying allover DP. Don't know why really but just feeling a bit overwhelmed what with being pg and selling the house.

Im off from 8th July as have lots of annual leave to use up also.

Off for one year!!!!

Hopeitwontbebig · 12/06/2007 20:41

((hugs)) Edie. Very stressful business selling a house at the best of times, let alone when you're pregnant. We sold our house when I was pregnant with DS2, grrrrrrr stress

OP posts:
kinki · 12/06/2007 20:41

Seamonster, do you know which foods are best for iron? I could look it up, but thought I'd ask first.

seamonster · 12/06/2007 20:46

dried apricots, fortified breakfast cereal, lentils, green leafy veg. I'll come back when I've remembered more.
I was slightly aneamic with dd and felt drained all the time, eating this sort of thing really helped, and iron tablets can make you constipated.
I'm eating these things and taking pregnancy multivitamins as well so hopefully all will be well this time.

dal21 · 12/06/2007 21:08

Ugh - I thought i was getting stacks of iron. I cook lots of indian food at home and so eat lots of saag (spinach) and lentils/ kidney beans for my evening meals. May have to incorporate more things like dried apricots as snacks throughout the day.

Thanks for all the help ladies!

kinki · 12/06/2007 21:18

thanks too

Hopeitwontbebig · 12/06/2007 21:25

Is anyone else still getting loads of palpatations?

OP posts:
Tinkjon · 12/06/2007 21:50

Kinki, you have your section date booked already? I've been told I won't get my date until I'm 36 weeks, but I want to know now! When did you find yours out, did you specifically ask to get your date early?

kinki · 12/06/2007 22:26

No I didn't ask. I got told ages ago - they pretty much said its inevitable I'll need one so they booked me in very early. Got a feeling it was when I saw them at 12 weeks, it was definately ages ago. I've had 2 previous sections, got a past history of pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes, and breathing problems with this one. (Bit of a hopeless case really). Its the last bit that swung it - they said because of that I'm a poor anaesthetic risk. They don't want me trying for a vbac and then ending up with an emergency section. They've also put a strategy in place for my medication in the build up to the op, so they needed a date to work towards. They think it would be better all round if it was planned and controlled. And I have to say I do agree, I really am not well at the moment ...... but I'm upbeat and happy ...... and big and lumpy ..... and no palpitations.

EdieMcredie · 13/06/2007 09:04

Kinki

Sanatogen Pronatal has iron in it. Ive been taking it for about a year as it's for conception, pregnancy and BFing.

hannahsaunt · 13/06/2007 09:35

It has been a while - good to catch up on all the news. Blood in urine turned out to be just one of those things - no infection just a short-lived mystery. I'm working up until 37 weeks which isn't as bad as it sounds as I have nearly 3 weeks off in August and am then back for just 5 days (over 2 weeks) before mat leave starts. Off to view a nursery tomorrow for the baby for a year's time - should be interesting; we adore our current nursery so it will be a hard act to follow. Saw Pirates of the Carribean last night which the baby seemed to find terribly exciting all the way through!

laksa · 13/06/2007 10:42

Hi guys,

I am currently experiencing a burst of energy and am dying to go for a run/swim/jump...unfortunately this has coincided with pelvic pain (spd) which means I am supposed to take it easy, behave like a lady and keep my legs together, bah!! In an attempt to mop up the excess energy, last night I alphabetized all my cds, organized all our household files and weeded the front garden. I then made lots of lists of things that the DH needs to do before the baby arrives

Mrsmar, know what you mean about DHs being impatient. Mine has felt LO kick but only because I make him massage my bump nightly with oil and then I force him to keep his hand on it...he starts inching his hand away after about 30secs but I order him not to move...I can be very bossy sometimes

Kinki, hope they sort you out with something its shocking that they don't treat NHS staff better.

Hannahsaunt, glad the blood in urine turned out to be nothing.

Fiofio, hope you feel better soon. Maybe you should take it easy for a bit. Although I know its not easy when life won't let you.

Edie, You have every right to feel weepy, moving house is very stressful at the best of times. We moved house 1 week before we got married and I remember feeling the strain. Just take it easy and breathe! I am already getting weepy at the thought of all the DIY jobs we need to do before the baby comes as now I have SPD I can't be as active as I'd like and it is frustrating me. I'm also having a homebirth and worry that the midwifes will arrive to a building site.

Welcome Dal21!

HWBB, I am getting palpatations and sometimes feel like my heart is going to jump out of my body, its weird. Actually I have the 3 p's at the moment, Palpatations, Pelvic pain and peeing all the time

Had a bit of good news today as my sister has just got engaged and wants me and my bump to be bridesmaids at her wedding. The bad news is that she is getting married asap and they are planning a jan wedding Which means baby will only be about 3 months old so I'll still be breastfeeding and fat

Has anyone seen the threads about big babies. I am a bit worried about having a biggun. I am only 5ft 1 but dh is 6ft 2 and he weighed over 10lbs as a babe...

Hope everyone is feeling good today.

xx
