Gosh, is anyone else just a bag of pg hormones at the moment? I was fine this week until last night when my MIL called me 'pleasantly plump' and afterwards I cried onto my DH's shoulder for about an hour, saying that I LIKED the way I used to look and now I am going to be a fat heffalump forever and be one of these women who has to wear trackie bottoms to the shops for the rest of her life because she is too big to fit into anything else again...

I think he was a bit overwhelmed!

Urgh. Still feel exhausted from crying today.

oliviaelanasmum · 01/06/2007 09:56

What lovely weather i have a hectic but lovely day planned today. Im going into town with my mum, foster sister and my girls to pick up dd2's crocs which have been on order for 3 months and then meeting dp for lunch and hoping he will buy me some summery maternity wear!

Hi everyone. Haven't been on for ages. How are you all?! Have read through bits of this but my concentration's a bit naff!

Well DP should be starting his new job next week. We have just had our house valued and are putting it on the market. Hoping to make some money (we were very pleased with valuation-gone up £50,000 in 18 months!!)

Just hope we won't be moving in September!!

Chattyhan · 01/06/2007 10:42

Holly - been there done that! I used to cry all the time about my body but i did lose the weight! Some people find it easier than others - i was really upset to still be 2 stone over my prepregnancy weight 8 months after the birth but then it all dropped off and whilst there are certain things that will change for the worst eg: boobs/tummy not quite as firm! generally i was back to normal after 18 months. Just in time to do it all again!

For most people pregnancy does mean a few battle scars! But i think they're worth it in the end and you might be one of the lucky ones with a body that just springs straight back into shape.

Aw Fio thats so sweet. I know just what you mean. I had my 26 week check yesterday and when the doc was trying to listen in to my lo's heartbeat he or she kept wriggling away. It was diving all over the place.

The doctor said "this ones going to be trouble" and I just beamed from ear to ear. I was so proud and excited.

Rin23 · 01/06/2007 18:43

Hello all, just popping in from France where I've been for the week. Before anyone gets jealous it has poured with rain for 7 days solid. Unbelievable, particularly after baking hot journey down in the car. We've also had about 5 thunderstorms, which at least provide some entertainment (particularly for stepdaughter).
Great to read all posts - you've had me laughing and nodding with agreement. Holly29 - was outraged at your MIL's comment, what a cheek!! I think I'd have punched her, and blamed the hormones...

Emalushka - definately sympathise, I feel like I am losing my old life completely and rather mourning it! But am trying to focus on the positives (exciting new future... etc).

Chatty - really really sorry to hear your news, I am also hoping he comes to his senses and realises what he'll be losing. Though I must say, it sounds to me like you are dealing with it brilliantly, for what that's worth. Loads of luck.

Agree with lots of your 3 words...
I think mine would be
relaxed (I am on holiday after all)
fat (ditto)
and to copy Sophus, slightly freaked

I'm 24 weeks today, still hunting for a girl's name... gearing up for the long drive home tomorrow, hope everyone has a great weekend.
xx
PS great to see photos!

canadianmum · 01/06/2007 19:26

Hello everyone, haven't been able to check for a few days as it is half term and boys have kept me busy. We are going on holiday next week, Corsica, and I am really looking forward to it but am dreading packing - HIWBB - isn't packing with children such a chore now! Trying to remember all the shoes and sandals and suncream, books and toys, yikes

Re; Braxton hicks, mine are like a light squeezing sensation around the top of the bump and a slight breathless feeling. According to my many books, they vary enormously and some women never even get them.

It now feels like the top of my bump is stretching and I think the stretchmarks may be starting. I haven't gained too much weight (a stone) but just seem doomed to stretchmarks - again!

I think I might try a tummy tub, they do look sweet . And I am a "marketing person's dream" according to my DH.

My 3 words:

1- frustrated - by people making stupid comments about pregnant women and babies around me
2- happy - I am really enjoying this pregnancy
3- hopeful/anxious - that I will have a straightforward birth and healthy babe

kinki · 02/06/2007 13:35

Hi all. I've nothing interesting to add today. Just wanted to wish you a lovely weekend. It's sunny and warm here, not too unbearable, just right. Hope its lovely where you are!

Oh btw, how I chuckled at all of you who wrote weeks ago about going to weddings this summer, and having to buy glam maternity wear. Ha ha I thought, glad that's not me. Well, I've just been asked to be a godmother in August. Oh no! Guess I'll have to scroll back to find the recommendations. I don't often do smart. I may struggle.

MrsFish · 02/06/2007 16:14

Hello all, just thought i would say hi, back from my hols in Spain. Weather was very changeable about 3 nice days out of the six. Hope everyone is well, have had a quick read through the past weeks posts.

My three words

IRKED - feel generally ok apart from the heartburn, no matter what I eat I get it and its really bad.

EXCITED - can't wait to meet my son and see what he looks like... will he look anything like ds1 and will he be as good?

Nettee · 02/06/2007 16:21

Hi everyone, glad to hear most of you are feeling generally good at the moment

working hard this weekend with all the new mums and babies so no time to wallow - only 9 weeks til maternity leave, not that I am counting......

FilBrit · 03/06/2007 17:53

Hello everyone!

Hope you've all had lovely weekends in the sunshine (sorry to anyone who had to work).

We had a lovely time having a picnic at the beach yesterday, DD even went paddling in the sea. We then had a pub lunch today, followed by boating on the river. I'm feeling very healthy with all this fresh air and the start of a suntan. Not so keen on going back to work tomorrow though!

Love Filbrit x

lou031205 · 03/06/2007 19:52

Hi everyone

have just been reading the last few days - didn't have anything interesting to say, lol.

3 words:

Hot
Impatient - sisterinlaw just had her baby girl on Weds, so feel like 15 weeks is SUCH a long time to wait (but don't want baby to be prem!)
Tired.

seamonster · 03/06/2007 20:12

I'm huge. I feel embarrassed about going back to school tomorrow. As I'm already complaining, is it possible for a nerve to occasionally get caught in you lower back, pelvis hip area?

laksa · 04/06/2007 09:17

Morning girls,

Well I had a nice weekend, went up to Norfolk with my parents as they want to buy a house there...what were you saying about how prices have gone up Edie

I feel the same about the weight/fat issue, holly. I spent sunday morning whinging to my dh about how I've put on 13lbs and I'm only 24 weeks on wed so I think that is too much. I was over my ideal weight when I got pregnant. I am not looking forward to going up north for this wedding at the end of june. I haven't seen most of these people for over a year when I was nice and slim Must try not to be so self obsessed!!

Well I tried to book my overdue midwife appointment this morning (apparently in my area you're meant to see them a week after your 22 week scan) and they can't fit me in till the 27th June! At least the baby is kicking away nicely to take away any fears in the meantime

Also went to look at cotbeds in the week. I fell in love with lots of mamas and papas cotbeds that all cost £500 which we can't really afford. So looked in mothercare and john lewis and saw a couple that were nice but I don't seem to be able to make decisions at the moment and we ended up buying nothing!

Hope everyone is feeling chipper this morning.

xx

Chattyhan · 04/06/2007 12:58

Hello everyone - nice to hear about all the good weekends. Mine was good too - nice and relaxing - spent lots of time in the garden enjoying the weather and even had a barbecue yesterday - just us though!

starting to feel tired again - really couldn't get up this morning!

sophus · 04/06/2007 13:12

argh, i used to have a nicely turned ankle and normal feet and suddenly over the weekend i have developed ankles the size of thighs and feet which look like mini-whales.
Trying to keep my feet up as much as possible (very attractive in the office with my feet hoiked up).
Anyone else got this already or am I Miss Blobby-No-Mates?
loved the sunshine over the w/end, did gardening and bought a new car.

MrsMar · 04/06/2007 13:48

Hello everyone, good to hear everyone had a good weekend. I went to a wedding in Jersey and had a lovely time. I think I might be either really lucky or saving up for a humdinger of a fall later on. I'm not feeling hormonal at all, no tears or weepyness.

Also I'm not really that tired either. This weekend we were out every night until the wee hours (1am on Thursday, 3am on Friday, 1am on Friday) and although I did insist on a lie in until about 11am each morning, I felt absolutely fine. Everyone kept saying to me how impressed they were that I was still awake after 10pm, but I really felt fine. I guess I'm going to get a horrible shock later on! Of course I'm not getting away with things totally scott free, I do have horrible heartburn, usually when I haven't eaten for a few hours, so my solution is to eat all the time. It's just like being in my first trimester again!

I'm totally with you on the elephant feet sophus, I spent far too long on my feet in high heels on Friday at the wedding that when I took my shoes off I had lovely impressions of where the straps were, which took all night to go down! My ankles are still a bit puffy and I can't get any of my rings off now It does give me a great excuse to put my feet up on the desk at work now though, I'm draining my ankles!!!

Kinki - good luck with the dress hunt, you have my sympathies, it's bloody hard to look glam in maternity clothes! I did feel huge at this wedding this weekend. Tried all the tricks, huge hat to detract from huge bump, long linen embroidered coat to try and create something resembling a waist, and lots of pashmina action to hide hugh norks! I must have looked a right sight!

Laksa - good luck with the cot bed hunting, mine arrives from John Lewis on Wednesday. We're getting this one not the fanciest in the world, but it goes with other furniture we've got for the baby's room. We've also bought this pushchair really cos I like the way I can swap the seat to face front or back.

Anyway, I'm off to find something that'll get rid of this heartburn, can't STAND gaviscon, gonna have to do something or I'll be swigging pints of milk non stop!

Have a good day everyone! Take care xxx

MrsMar · 04/06/2007 15:41

Just been thinking... Luxmum I have a really active baby too. Of course I've got nothing to compare it with, but the gaps between kicking bouts are less than an hour, with at least 45 mins of kicking, which means the little blighter isn't sleeping much at all. Not something I hope will carry on once he's born!! I usually get some spectacular gymnastics after a meal, I think he thrives on the sugar rush, just like his mummy!!

Kinki - forgot to say, at the wedding I went to on Friday, had endless horror birth stories, so brace yourself!! Nice isn't it? One woman I've never met before collared me in the loos for ten minutes going on about how awful giving birth was, only to finish by saying "oh but it's not that bad, and you forget straight away". So that's ok then!

One bit of information I didn't forget is a teacher told me that babies born in September are usually better academically and that most premiership footballers are born in September (though I'm not sure they're the most academically brilliant people) I'm sure she wasn't just being nice (hmmm I'm so naive!!) cos she's got a daughter who was born in September, and she said that teachers often try and have their babies in September (not only cos schools break up in July and they get a couple of months off before their maternity leave starts) but also because September babies usually do well at school! Yippeee! We're all having geniuses!!!

seamonster · 04/06/2007 16:56

Oh for goodness sake! All through my pregnancies (first in particular) I had nothing but horror stories, NO-ONE had any positive things to say. Ever since then I refuse to do that to anyone, I'll be honest but I won't try to scare.

laksa · 04/06/2007 17:27

sophus, my feet got all puffy yesterday due to the heat so its not just you. They've gone down today as its not hot anymore. I've noticed it doesn't take much for them to puff up!

Mrs Mar, that is a nice cotbed, I was looking at a similar one,

www.johnlewis.com/Furniture/Nursery+Furniture/Nursery+Furniture/Cotbeds/610/230217983/Product.aspx

they are pretty much the same in that price range I think

I really like your buggy, haven't decided on one yet. I am just not that excited about buying stuff which is very weird because I normally love to shop!! Oh and I am also getting heartburn when I go more than 3 hours without food. Its funny because I ate a vindaloo the other night and didn't suffer at all

EdieMcredie · 04/06/2007 17:40

Laksa, Norfolk is quite a bargain still but it's Norwich that went up a lot beginning of year.

Saw MW today, still got sugar in my urine so have to have glucose test soon

Baby was kicking all over the place, HB still fine and bump continues to measure spot on

How is everyone?!
