Hi Laksa - my next appt is tomorrow so 26 weeks? I think some areas work on 28 weeks. Either way you should prob think about booking ta reasonably soon. They should normally tell you at each appt when to make the next one for?

MrsMar · 30/05/2007 11:32

Hi all! haven't got long to post, I'm at work (bleurgh!) just wanted to say hi. Had a totally washed out bank hol weekend, went to a friends bbq party on sunday (!) her Greek boyfriend did a whole lamb on a spit, it took about 8 hours to do in the rain while we all huddled indoors!! If I hadn't been pregnant that would have been my cue to get very drunk!

Laksa - re midwives appointments. Not sure what your area does, but I had my scan at 22 weeks, i'm seeing my gp on thursday (24 weeks) as part of my shared care, then back to the midwife at 28 weeks.

I hope everyone's well. I'm 24 weeks today so can't really say I'm in to my 3rd trimester for a couple of weeks, but kicks are coming thick and fast. Sophie - are your kicks in strange places if your baby is transverse? at my scan two weeks ago, mine was head down, but my kicks are still really low. I think he's folded himself in two! Some times I think the kicks almost feel like they're in the crease at the top of my leg, really wierd how he manages to get down there!

I'm away yet again this weekend, I can't believe I've got four weekends away in a row, I don't feel like I've been at home at all, the house is a tip as we haven't been around to clean it, how on earth does it still manage to get so filthy when we're not there? I think the cat swings the full hoover bag around when we're not looking!

Take care everyone xxx

oliviaelanasmum · 30/05/2007 12:15

pennypops transverse means she is lying literally sideways across me her head is on the left side and her bum is on the right so i think she pokes up with her arms and kicks down with her legs! Mrs mars some of my kicks seem really low too sort of just above my privates!! Oh the joys of pregnancy! Im 24 + 3 now but not wishing this one away as it will probably be the last time im pg Dp doesnt know if he can face 5 females in one house! And he is getting on a bit now!!

Hello my lovelies!

Hope everyone is well after the soggy bank holiday weekend.

My wee one has also started kicking like crazy now, I honestly think he does it to make me laugh at the most inappropriate times, like in meetings...

OK so let's have a straw poll to see how we're all feeling this week. If you had to describe how you feel and look this week in three words, what would they be? Mine are:

  • tired (3rd trimester kicking in, clearly)

  • womanly (bump and boobs growing no end but I quite like the shape!) and

  • hungry.

You guys?

sophus · 30/05/2007 13:02
  • properly pregnant (big bump and kicks galore)
- exhausted - freaked

But very happy that today is my official third trimester day.

hannahsaunt · 30/05/2007 13:04

Hi all

Laksa - I was seen at 22 weeks by GP and will be seen again at 28 weeks by the community midwife who will take the next lot of bloods.

I haven't needed my anti-sickness tablets for nearly a week!!! Much rejoicing in our house.

Baby found my ribs for the first time yesterday and did much stretching whilst I struggled to minute a very dull meeting; it was quite disconcerting.

Really struggling to think of another set of boys names having used all our favourites on the first two.

Chattyhan - thinking of you lots during this time; hope it all settles down soon for you.

sophus · 30/05/2007 13:09

oh and i have two silly first timer questions for all you lot:

  1. DP has been asked to a conference the w/end before my due date. He says he shouldn't go, but i am quite relaxed about it and think he should go. Am i a total numptie? He would be about a four hour drive away

  2. what do you do about DP drinking towards due date owing to maybe having to zoom to hospital. He says he shouldn't drink from two weeks before, i've told him not to worry as you probably spend the first few hours at least at home.

All ideas gratefully received.

Pennypops · 30/05/2007 13:12

Oooh Sophie I am wincing on your behalf. That must be really quite uncomfy. I hope she wriggles into a more comfy position for you soon!

Holly - mine used to make me giggle in meetings too earlier on when instead of hard kicks I got little tickles

My three words are:

Tired (def 3rd trimester kick in)
Hormonal (lots of tears and I get really rather stroppy at times)
Contented (even when baby was kicking the living daylights out of me last night I was happy because it felt like a special moment that we were sharing that not even DH knew about it)

Sorry if I have made anyone feel queasy with that particular revelation.

Tinkjon · 30/05/2007 13:13

Good question, Holly29! I'd go for...

Frightened
Blotchy (darned varicose veins)
Craving!

seamonster · 30/05/2007 13:37

Laksa I haven't had an appointment for weeks and haven't one until 28 weeks, it depends on the area, your health and how many children you've had previously. I have had two midwife appts and two scans so far.

Thinking of you chattyhan, try to stay positive for you and your children, although if he says he doesn't love you perhaps you should think about moving on yourself.(I'm really sorry)

Mrsmar, perhaps those are punches you are feeling.

Sophus, if he doesn't feel comfortable about drinking or leaving you right then, why not let him choose to not do these things? He's probably nervous as well. Mine will be over 4 hours away and will probably not get back in time so I'm v jealous!

Chattyhan · 30/05/2007 15:02

laska i had my last midwife appointment at 16wks and scan at 22wks. I due to see the midwife again at 26wks.

My 3 words:
Numb - just plodding along still feel it's too early to start preparing!as well as emotionally numb with my DP situation
Invaded - certainly feel i'm sharing my body with all these kicks/prods and twinges.
Strong - (emotionally) i have to keep myself together for my children and make sure that whatever happens they don't suffer.

Thanks for everyones kind words xx

emalushka · 30/05/2007 15:53

Really sorry, haven't got time to scroll through the last hundred or so messages.

This moves so quick! Apologies to anyone who I should be congratulating/comiserating...

How do you know if you have braxton hicks? This may sound daft, but a couple of days ago, I noticed the baba was moving up and down in a rhythmical way. Could this be hiccups? Or braxton hicks? Or something else?

MMooMar · 30/05/2007 15:56

Hi Guys ,
Hope everyone is ok.

Coming upto the 25 wk mark.I dont like it,its all going too quick, starting to worry about having another prem again.I know my chances are probably slim but I cant help but wonder how I will manage with DS and the hospital if I do.Still cross that bridge if I ever have to again.

Chatty Mega special huggy vibes for you.

Fio,Yes also getting BH for a couple of wks now too, never meantioned it before to you guys as I thought you would think I was a nutter. As long as they stay as BH I dont mind once anything turns painful I will panic .

oliviaelanasmum,Know what you mean about the kicks in those places,LO has found them and my bum I think!

Had my last MW appointment at 23 wks my next one is on 21st June at 28 wks.Suits me though always feel its like a waste of time going.Hate it when it steps up a pace and feels like you are never away from the waiting room.

Getting bad heartburn now,its really kicked in.As you know I have a passion for marks and spencers mini jelly babies but can no longer eat them as they kill me...so does chocolate...chips...spag bol...curry...apples...............

On my list I would also say that I was
Hungry( no make that starving ....all the time)

Tired ( all the time )

Look crap (all the time)

Apart from that ...great!

Take care all.

Can I echo Emalushkas question? I'm not sure if I've had BH's or not. Sometimes my bump feels a little tighter than others but that seems to be related to just having eaten a large meal. What are we supposed to be looking out for? I'm starting to get a bit concerned because everyone else seems to get them and so far - zip!

kinki · 30/05/2007 16:23

Hi everyone,

My three words:
ill - got another chest infection, now on my 7th course of antibiotics during this pregnancy,
tired - can't sleep because of the above,
hopeful - that I'll be feeling better soon.

I'm flippin well fed up with my chest, I seem to just get over one bad spell then I get another setback again. I have been particularly worried this time because I've been coughing up blood. But the doctor said not to worry.

Has anyone else been suffering from stress incontinence? I do a lot of coughing so I've been told to expect it to an extent, but its been really bad the last few days. I've been doing my pelvic floor exercises for ages but haven't seen any improvement. I'm getting to the point where I want to stuff one of ds2's nappies down my knickers. Anyone know a miracle cure?

Chatty, still thinking of you. I really hope a way forward can be found, in a calm way for you.

Soph, I think the same way as seamonster. He probably feels the need to be needed, so I'd be inclined to go along with what he feels he needs to do. You could always keep him busy with last minute nesting, cleaning or decorating.

Hannahsa, shame about those ribs, ouch. My lo is firmly feet down, like some of the others, mine's kicking low, usually in the bladder.

Laksa, I seem to be seeing the mw about once a month now. ANC seem to be every 8 weeks. (I also have to see my GP once a week, but that's because of my chest.)

Finally, just wanted to add that I love reading the posts where we're refering to our babies as him or her. It's suddenly feeling all the more real. Talking of which, has anyone chosen their names yet? I'm a bit stuck finding a boys name that goes with his 2 brothers' names. They're both irish sounding, so I want it to be in keeping, but not in a 'trying too hard' kind of way iyswim!

MrsMar · 30/05/2007 16:24

I think I've had bh's for a couple of weeks now too, I get like a tight band across the space between my hip joints, it only lasts for about 30 seconds, and they're a bit random, which is why I thought they were bh contractions. They're not painful, and I don't really notice any big tightening of my bump but I think that because I'm generally a bit wobbly on my tummy anyway

My three words right now..... hmmm

Tired (but I think that's because I've got so many things going on at the moment, been away for four weekends in a row!)

FAT!!! (not in a blobby way especially, though I am that too, but my bump is growing so rapidly now I feel like a ripe melon about to burst!)

Vague - my brain really has departed and gone on holiday!

all sounds a bit negative, but I'm not that bad, I can think of more fun things to do than carry a baby, of course the end result is great so it's worth it. I felt really bad saying this to someone at the weekend who's going through a really tricky IVF programme at the moment (it's complicated, but she's only got three chances at IVF then it's a hysterectomy) but I have to remind myself that I'm pretty lucky really, no nasty symptoms; no varicose veins, no stretch marks (so far!) no other health worries at all and a very healthy pregnancy. I'm just a bit fed up at being out of breath all the time and being so unfit!! Of course I could just stop wingeing and do something about it, like going swimming, but then I'd have to stop eating biscuits every ten minutes hehehehe!

phew! sorry I had to dash that all off, had one of those "I NEED to go to the loo NOW!" moments (sorry that is sooo tmi!)

previous post makes me sound really down about being pregnant.. I'm not, honest! Just wish I had one of those lovely neat bumps rather than my huge blobby one!

Another question about BHs... does the contraction make your baby kick a bit? I can usually predict a kick (or punch - I hadn't thought of that seamonster, thanks!) seconds later. I just wondered if the contraction made the baby go "whoa there! stop squashing me!"

Pennypops · 30/05/2007 16:52

Oooh Kinki you poor love. I so hope you feel better and manage to shake off these chesty problems soon. It must feel so horrid. Big hugs.

Re your other question - er, I think it just comes with territory because the hormones just soften everything up pre birth. I have been trying to do pelvic floors and its made no difference at all. I just have to remember to cross my legs when I sneeze.
