madeindevon, sounds like you're spot on with your analysis. She's a teen, angsty, worried about her Dad's affections being diverted and about a million and one other things- the pressure at school at 15- academically and socially- is enormous and it's that odd threshold between not quite being a child but not ready to grow-up. Poor girl really, lots of reassurance, still firm with boundaries and saying no about some things and involving her once the baby's here will help no end. I do sympathise though. I vaguely remember being her age!

Dizzy- here they start to mutter about induction at 40+10 but you don't have to agree to it. Personally I wouldn't consider it unless the baby was in any danger. A normal pregnancy is 37-42 weeks and some will come very near to or after that 42 week mark. Hideous prospect right now I know, but I know how often I have to repeat to myself 'it could be a couple of weeks yet, don't get excited'. And then I get excited and analyse every twinge...

Well, builder has just been, said there was nothing wrong with the house...structural engineer coming at 2, another £400 nice, hopefully to tell us the same, then at least I will be sure the house isnt reeady to collapse..bit galling to have gone through all that stress, lost our new house, have to re sell this and find a new one, all over nothing though!

Oh well..

LOL at your sneeze story MKG..Am avoiding sneezing now..I didnt lose my plug with DD till I was actually in labour, didnt know you could lose it before and not be about to give birth..good to know as otherwise would probably have rushed to the hossy in a panic and been sent home..

I want one like yours Drp!He sounds a cracker!

Same you didnt win at the bingo Pebble..was it fun though.Ive never been..

I can certainly get you your Fish Macs Cam, small price to pay for a birthing partner..DH did used to be able to get lots of free food actually, (not that I ever ate it ,) but dont think they do it anymore, otherwise could've sent you all loads of vouchers and made you all fat!

DD just back from her MMR..will insanely check her for negative effects now for about the next week-I dont know what the matter with me is..im just so paranoid about every little thing right now..I lost her for all of 4 mins at toddlers group yesterday, (she was eventually found sitting underneath the sandbox), and had a total panic attack..so silly as there was literally no where she could have gone and no way for anyone to get in at all..)

SOH, We too are travelling back for a wedding on the 7th July. Am determined to slim down a little before then. Maddie is a bridesmaid and Harrison a page boy, oh I can't wait to see them in their outfits. I'm hoping that all eyes will be on of course the bride and my 3 beautiful children that no one will notice me and I can hide behind the pram all day.

OP posts:
madeindevon2 · 09/05/2007 11:54

thanks SOH. all of that i have said to DH. i vaguely remember being that age too. even if i say so myself i dont think i was that bad (even tho in same situation with divorced parents) however i do remember my step sister being a total nightmare! drove my mum to distraction! (they are best of friends and incredibly close now but i remember she was a massive pain in the bum as a teenager!)

ShowOfHands · 09/05/2007 11:54

Scoot, great news thus far about the house. I love surveys for putting the fear of God into you. It's like they're protecting their own backs so they all read as 'the house may fall down today, soon or in the very distant future, we cannot guarantee that it isn't built on an Indian burial ground and haunted by malicious spectres, there may be a deadly strain of termite under the floorboards that will eat your ears off and we cannot discount the possibility that the house is a massive conductor and may on a date to remain undetermined be hit by lightening and go up in a massive ball of flames.' End arse-covering report. I'm sure your house is fine. Horrible to have to shell out that cash, but will help with the selling process at the end.

I'm sure I'm going to be worried about all of the vaccines- all eight million of them. Current main fear is how to keep a baby cool at a folk festival.

ShowOfHands · 09/05/2007 12:01

See MrsJB, I'm too big to hide behind a pram! What are you wearing? I'm thinking a bit of tarpaulin, cinched in with a bungee cord. I'm dreading it. My family is very the Royle Family. Honestly, weddings growing up were like that Peter Kay sketch- a terrible disco, quiche and vol-au-vents, the groom getting drunk and passing out, aunts in their best outfits dancing round handbags and leering old uncles trying to dance to Showaddywaddy. They're not good with tact. Saw my Grandma last week and she exclaimed about how 'puffy and fat' I was. I just know that a few weeks after having given birth and going to a big wedding I'll get lots of 'ooh you haven't slimmed yet', 'let's see your belly' (as they lift my top up) and 'are you having conjugals again yet'?

Eugh.

scootermum · 09/05/2007 12:09

So good I posted it twice!

Quite jealous of your sweets SOH..what a nice MIL..I defo want to come to your barbie..I like nothing better than a duck pond..

I may get a megaphone for DH..He has been referred tiwce to the specialist for his ruddy hearing loss and twice hasnt bothered to go-its so annoying having to repeat everything ad finitum..partic as its pretty much what I have to do at work all day when im there..but at least I get paid there..

Is the French specially for ex pats then Mrs JB?Dont think I would have much chance staying awake for an afternoon session at the mo either..

Dont worry Juicy-if baby doesnt come whilst DH away I think it will do the opposite and I will be hanging on to the bitter end too..have had no twinges, or BH for a day or so now..it all seems very quiet-famous last words...

O dear Madeindevon-the ex wife sounds like a cowbag of the highest order, I remember you saying about her before..poor dh and poor you, last thing you need at this stage in the game..SOH is right though, its a horrid age 15...I bet she will look back on it later and feel terrible about it, but thats no consolation now...ere let me know about meet ups if you like...

Must go and get Lily bean her luncheon as she keeps poking me in the bump..think that means she wants me to get off the puter and feed her..

scootermum · 09/05/2007 12:12

But those kind of weddings are the best kind SOH!And dont worry, I have only this morn read in Grazia that the slouch dress is one of the hot looks for the summer..you will be the hippest person there in your tarpaulin...

largeginandtonic · 09/05/2007 12:17

I ventured in to town, i should never have gone. Should not be allowed out by myself end of. Had texted TYG in the q of Specsavers that i felt too big and timebombish to be out alone. Fears confirmed after i managed to leave some pretty tissue paper and mail type jiffy bags, postcards on the counter of the shop, only realised when i got home. I then had to climb in to the car from the passenger side as the numpty (still in situ and watching me) parked next to me too close. I got home just...... then realised i had left the bag on the counter......

Am a liability

The bell works fab, i cant wait to use it. We really are the Waltons

Hope Aneme is ok and Creena lets us know soon

Cath keep an eye out for a parcel in the next few days....minus pretty tissue paper....doh

You too TYG, (she is sending me donuts) and as we speak is braving tesco alone, she must be mad.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/05/2007 12:20

thought maybe something like this beauty

SOH, Although this wedding is dh's step sister, I'm not sure it will be too different to the one you describe to be honest, but I don't think I'll get remarks they wouldn't dare, after all we live in another country so they are always very nice to us as if to say, we don't see you very often so we have to be nice oh and we have aknowledged that you have spent a fortune and travelled miles to get here. I don't know what I'll wear yet, your outfit sounds very desirable, with your large straw hat I'm sure it will catch on. i'll wait til the week before and see how many pounds I shed then I'll shop!

WTF is a slouch dress? Eh? Somebody recommended a maxi dress to me. I thought maxi was a grade of sanitary towel.

Tescos? Alone? DH dropped me outside Sainsburys on Sunday while he went to inflate the tyres at the petrol station. I was wandering around quite happily with a basket full of fruit, a huge bag of cat litter hanging off one arm and was just picking up a multi-12 tin cat food thing and I heard DH booming his way up the aisle shouting 'put that lot down'. Everybody turned and stared and DH fairly exasperatedly explained 'she's mine and very pregnant'. Apparently I'm not allowed to march round supermarkets carrying heavy tins and litter without a trolley. He worries far more than I do. Haven't told him I'm going morris dancing this afternoon. He's at work, will never know.

LG&T if you are the Waltons I want to be the Larkins or the Little House on the Prairie bunch. What larks.

ShowOfHands · 09/05/2007 12:31

Mrs JB that outfit's divine . When I was about 17 and a terrible goth I had a very short PVC dress that was cut down to below my belly button, bit like that one. Used to put on other clothes over it so I could sneak past my Dad and go out. God knows what I looked like. Wore lots of PVC and leather and listened to terrible music. Then I went all folkie and lentil-weavery. Not the obvious leap. Apparently this is a maxi dress, a lot like what I wear anyway. Can I wear something like that to a wedding? Today I am mostly wearing this Actually am wearing that exact cardigan and fishermans trousers. I'm very sexy I'll have you know. I love Pachamama clothes.

So, is it likely that I'll have lost any of the pounds by July 7th?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/05/2007 12:39

Hey there are loads of those type of cardi's over here. The local produce markets always have a stand and thats not cakky uk market standard. They even do ones for babies they are very cute.

Oh yes, I will have lost at least a stone. Straight back onto slimming world. One stone in 4 weeks 2 in 10weeks thats the plan. Worked last time.

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 09/05/2007 12:49

Oh no. I shan't be dieting, I'm severely allergic . I keep wondering when I can start properly exercising again. Is 2 weeks enough time? Oh to be able to run again.

twelveyeargap · 09/05/2007 13:40

SOH. Maxi dress is perfect. Suggest not wearing it with a poncho/ hoodie though... Just a thought.

Haven't been to Tescos yet. Am scared. The upside is that I can use the baby and child spaces so it's the only time I don't have trouble parking the large boat slash tank that I'm driving.

LG&T. Are you saying you forgot your stuff TWICE? Oh dear. You definitely need to stay in.

DH wants to go to Costco tongiht to stock up on meat for the freezer, bog rolls, etc. North Circular Road at rush hour. Nice. I think he's afraid to leave it til Saturday in case I don't make it. We've convinced ourselves that the baby is coming this weekend. Ho hum.

OK off to Tesco. ACTUALLY going this time. The talk about penny sweets is making me wonder if Tesco have bags of fruit salads and black jacks...

ShowOfHands · 09/05/2007 13:40

Please help me. I can't stand this anymore.

I have the sorest, sorest nipples. I'm so sorry to ask but what can I do? There is no available remedy that helps. Even hypoallergenic, frangrance-free, free-from anything makes me feel like my nipples are being chewed by wasps with fiery breath. I spent a large part of yesterday clutching my nipples and sobbing. It's more painful than anything I have ever experienced. The HV said once I'm making milk I can use that to soothe them, but what can I use now? Lansinoh, kamillosan, vaseline etc all tried, no help. Please tell me there's a miracle cure.

twelveyeargap · 09/05/2007 13:43

SIX weeks SOH. You can do post-pregnancy pilates though. That will tone you up quite well in a few weeks. Plus, you'll lose almost a stone between going into labour and pushing out the placenta.

Let's say, 7lbs for baby, 1.5lbs for placenta, 2lbs for amniotic fluid... Plus you'll drain a lot of the excess fluid you're carrying around in your body now. Easy peasy.

twelveyeargap · 09/05/2007 13:44

Did you try cold cabbage leaves SOH? LG&T highly recommends it.

ShowOfHands · 09/05/2007 13:57

No and I can't get to the supermarket until Friday. Might try a radish in the interim. How the bugger I'm going to give birth when I can't stop sobbing about my sore nipples I really don't know.

Are you MNing in Tescos then? Go shop woman. They do nice gingerbread men.

Oh how much lighter must you feel after giving birth!

madeindevon2 · 09/05/2007 14:35

back from the pool. aqua natal class....now thats a way to make you forget how heavy you are.....until you get out and your legs almost give way as you waddle upthe steps when you brain suddenly realises how bloody heavy you really are!!
(i recommend a bob about in a pool tho for cheering you up...especially with other ladies in a similar condition)
yesterday i suddenly realised my pre pregnancy pert boobs have gone (32 D b4) to be replaced by saggy, blue lined massive "comedy style" mammeries(36 G) i nearly cried. wagon wheels of areolas too. will i ever be the same again?

cameroonmama · 09/05/2007 15:09

loose weight post pregnancy? In a month MrsJB? Are you all bonkers? Mine doesn't shift for months, when I am breastfeeding I end up eating twice as much as i am eating now. And SOH, you can never run properly again, ever. Madeindevon, no is the answer to your last question, you will never be the quite the same again

cameroonmama · 09/05/2007 15:10

Nor do handstands again properly neither.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 09/05/2007 15:25

Run after two weeks. ROFL, what with sore boobs now. haha PMSL, just you wait. Bf, milky boobs and running, pah...... Sorry but I tried the step machine a few weeks into feeing Maddie and it was a joke.

The cabbage does work although lg&t swears by green leafed but I always used white cabbage, don't know if it makes a difference? Don't know what else to suggest, sorry..;

HELLO

Hope your all ok today, am feeling quite chirpy and energetic. Though I think I may drive myself mad as cannot stop itching and it's driving me bloody insane. Have felt fairly crampy today, so decided to stay in bed until now with my BIG bag of minstrels and some Billy Connolly to watch. Fun and yumminess.

Have had 2 phonecalls this morning from my cousin and my aunt to 'check' I'm ok. Is this what you were all talking about the other week, has it started? The 'any sign of a baby yet' phonecalls? My cousin has demanded that I have the baby by the 27th as she's coming up......due the 24th. Odds on being late.....probable! No pressure, no pressure! Oh, it seems like ages away, want baby now. I wonder if I have a full blown hissy fit and stomp my feet like a child I may get my own way and have the baby.

Weather is being very strange today, was cloudy, then sunny and has just started pi**ing it down. I think my mum may be getting more excited about the baby than me. She has lost her senses! She randomly decided late last night that I have to have my cot and a changing table so is going to babiesrus later to get them after work. She also knows that she's getting the mattress from boots! Lost her senses - money is no object at the minute. My mum is usually sensible and we are not made of money by any means. She's just spent £360 on my pram fgs! She's suddenly just gone into warped overdrive and decided we NEED these things - NOW lol! My aunt and gran are supposed to be buying my cot, so she must be planning to just ask them to give her the money for it after she's bought it. Mad woman!
