Afternoon all

Lo has been giving me grief all day, trying to kick her way out in think. Hall floor is looking good although there seems to be lots of cursing coming from FIL (the hall isnt straight so its making it hard lol)I am so fed up with being pregnant now im looking forward to the pain of labour

Must go dFIL needs another cuppa

Hope all is well with everyone and that at least one of us gets to meet our babies this weekend!!! (please be me, please be me lol)

twelveyeargap · 12/05/2007 14:55

Afternoon. Didn't get up til 2.30!

Scoot - are you still around????

Pebblemum · 12/05/2007 15:42

Where is everyone, not off having babies without me i hope!!!

Wish i could have laid in today i had to get up early because FIL was coming round at 8am, I didnt go shopping with my sis like i usually do because it was too windy (ds2 is scared of strong wind for some reason, even though he should be used to it living with his dad lol) and i have found today is just dragging, I am so bored. I would even be happy to do all the housework but i cant do that until the hall is finished because there seems to be either tools or wood etc in every room and i darent move any of it, you know how men get when doing DIY, id be sure to get moaned at Ds1 is out and even ds2 seems happy enough to play on his own today, im Mrs NoMates today lol

Congratulations SOH, Creena and Cameroonmama! Three lovely, healthy babies!!!!

Why isn't there an "everyone is having babies but me" emoticon

twelveyeargap · 12/05/2007 17:18

It's eerily quiet... Cmon, who's having a baby?

AbbyLou · 12/05/2007 17:38

Wish it was eerily quiet here! Ds has decided that his way to react to having a new baby in the house is to refuse to eat all meals. We have had a lovely day today. My sister came to visit with her family and we went to a family pub with a Wacky Warehouse. Charlie ate nothing but chips. Tonight and last night he has refused to eat tea but keeps asking for snacks! He is also refusing breakfast. It's driving me mad and the worst thing is he knows it. I'm trying very hard now to ignore and just think he'll eat when he's hungry. I've stopped all snacks and treats so surely he will get hungry some time. I feel awful because obviously he is finding it hard to deal with and the last thing he needs is me on his back taking away nice things but if I don't I'm not sending out the right messages am I?
Dh has taken him upstairs now to bath him. His grandparents are coming round to see him in 5 minutes and were going to lpay with him before he goes to bed but I think it will be a quick hello and then straight to bed. It's doing my head in as he's just screaming, crying or shouting 'I don't want to' all the time.

aprilmeadow · 12/05/2007 18:07

Abby - how old is Charlie? My ds is 2 and he certainly knows how to push the buttons that make dh and i mad! Is there any way that you can spend time just you and him? We have a routine in place that was started about 2 months before Ella arrived.

Dh gets up with Jack in the morning, gives him some milk and watches tv with him until its time to get showered and dressed. Then at about 8.15am he takes Jack to nursery. I pick him up at 6pm and we both play with him until 7pm when its bath time. Dh does the bath (always has) and i feed Ella. Once bath is over i hand Ella to dh and he goes downstairs whilst i read jack a story and put him to bed.

I dont know if something like this might help you? It is hard but just make sure that C knows that you still have time for him and within a week or two he will be back to normal :-)

drkgpink · 12/05/2007 18:59

It is extremely quiet on here today, usually I can't keep track with a days post, is this a sign we'll all be switching to post natal soon.

LG and T I found out about the water thing, tahnkfully mothercare have water fountains but now I have a least 2 large bottles as I'm drinking gallons a day - I can drink 4-5 pints per feed at night. On the plus side the weight is still dropping off, lost over 20 lbs now.

Scooter thanks for the help with the wedding, I too can't remember re liz hurley I know she wore red which was traditional i think this was hindi, the wedding is 10 til 3 on a sunday, no alcohol of course, goodness knows what I will do with jj and feeding, dress also has to be boob accessible!!! My friend said I could wear asian clothes bit that I wouldn't be able to dress myself and don't think my dh will be able to do a sari or whaterver it is meant to be. There are a lot of shops selling these outfits around the northern general and abbeydale road in sheffield so i think i will try and investigate when dh goes back to work, if only they did pre folded saris like they do swaddling blankets with velcro!!

Had a lovely walk in yorkshire sculpture park, gingerbear sorry i missed you, the vicar was late and then jj weed all over me before we left. saw purple turtle who said you did 2 walks, wow guess you're trying to get things started. Spoke to your dd on the phone, she is well trained in phone messaging!!! hope you're not too tired. If you need anything over the next couple of weeks let me know, I am mobile with car and dh back to work tues.

better go dh just finsihed cooking dinner - tuna in lime, coconut and coriander marinade - yummy i could get used to this!!

MKG · 12/05/2007 19:19

It's too quiet on here. I can't take it.

twelveyeargap · 12/05/2007 19:20

AbbyLou - I haven't had to deal with the problem, but I've definitely read lots of stuff about spending time alone with toddlers and young children to make them feel more secure - just as Aprilmeadow suggests. I expect he'll settle down when things get back to "normal" at home.

twelveyeargap · 12/05/2007 19:26

I know, MKG. It's weird. I'm wondering if it's too early to go to bed again.

DH wants to watch the bloody Eurovision! Have you heard of it MKG? Awful, awful, awful song contest between European countries, all sung in the country's own language and then they get voted on at the end. The songs are sh'te, the music is sh'te and I can honestly say that the best things to ever come out of it were Abba and Riverdance (which was first performed in an interval when Ireland hosted it.) It used to be bad, but now it's really, really awful becuase all the former Balkan and Baltic states all vote for each other so it's practically fixed anyway. Gagh!

Rant over. Phew.

InTheseShoes · 12/05/2007 20:19

Hello, I'm not off having a baby, I am still here, we've just been out for a Greek meal with my Mum who is up for the weekend and fascinated by Mumsnet!

I am officially fed up with being pg - my feet are hugely puffy, the baby is making Alien-eque bids for freedom that seem to involve equal amounts of pummelling and also standing on my fanjo with stilletoes on, which is horrendous! Also very tired.

We are watching Eurovision, but only until mum comes down from putting DS in bed, then we are going to watch Joseph which we taped while we were out scoffing hummus and kebabs.

largeginandtonic · 12/05/2007 21:01

Evening everyone still here and not having babies

Im still bloody here, have been for a walk rond Ivybridge (little shop place) and then went to a massive garden center. Got some Turkish delight for me and dh and a very cute card for the lovely SOH.

TYG bed till 2.30. Did you manage to sleep that long? I cant get comfy, i switch from left to right side when the one im lying on goes numb. It is nooooo fun anymore

Scoot what happened to the BH then? I hate this stage evry twinge is a isnt it...isnt it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRSJB....... really hope you have a fab day. WOW the big 30 No parcel arrived yet then? Bugger.

I want a baby NOW, anyone else????

Mrsjaffabiffa · 12/05/2007 21:31

I'm still here too. Although............

I decided to have a bounce with a friend on the trampolinie. I know, I know not the brightest move at 39+1 pregnant. I only managed 6 bounces and then had a gush of fluid. Turned to friend and said shit, my waters have just gone, to which we quickly got off trampoline and retreated inside for a check and a change of pants. I actually think it was wee It didnt smell weey though, didn't actually smell of anything. But I did need a wee at the time and have had no more leakages since, 39 week bump, full bladder and trampoline are probably not the best combination. Sorry if TMI.

Thanks for you wishes lg&t, Parcel not arrived yet but my birthday is actually Monday so it may come then. You are very naughty sending me anything!!! Sorry you are feeling like it's time now. He'll be here very soon. how did you get on with the name hunt. What's changed your mind on Beau I think Beau is lovely FWIW

Had a nice time this evening, everyone gone now. We don't do late ones here. Just having a laugh at Eurovision too, I agree TYG they are all shite.

Evening All. Just had a text from Mr SOH to let us know that SOH is home with Mathilda and both are doing well. Off to update birth stats thread in a sec.

LG&T - was just about to text you becuase you hadn't been on. Was wondering if you were having a baby. No, wasn't asleep all that time. Read second half of a novel whilst shufting about trying to keep comfy.

at MrsJB! It's more like something SOH would do.

Had to laugh at was it Swedish Eurovision entry - the guy in the silver outfit? It sounded like the theme tune to Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. We were singing along with the lyrics to Max and Paddy.

BadZelda · 12/05/2007 22:02

Hello - just popping in from the June thread slightly nosily...congrats to all of you on your babies so far...definitely making things feel very imminent!

drkgpink - noticed your question r.e. hindu wedding. You could quite happily wear a 'salwar kameez', which is a long tunic and baggy trousers and is usually worn with a 'chunni' (not sure of spelling) - a pretty scarf that drapes over breast and shoulders. You'd fit right in, and they're quite easy /discreet to feed in if you get a front opening one. If you have places that sell saris near you, they will def. sell salwar kameez as well. A sari wouldn't be too comfortable I don't think...not judging from having worn them when I was teaching in india years ago ;) Or you'll be fine western, but bare shoulders def not too popular. Hope that helps!

Best of luck to rest of you!
zx

Mrsjaffabiffa · 12/05/2007 22:10

oh, glad to hear SOH and family home. So pleased they are doing well.

Going to bed now, feeling very achey??????

Night all.

MKG · 12/05/2007 23:51

My dog ran away today. I sent him to stay with my mom, because I just can't handle taking care of ds and the dog right now. So he went to stay with her and ran away with her dog around 11am and they still aren't back.

Her dog is good about coming back, I'm not sure mine will be too keen on the idea.

I'm glad I don't have Eurovision. But I did turn on the tv and saw this show "Katie and Pete" I have to say it is sad when Jordan makes on to US tv for doing nothing. It's bad enough that Posh and Becks are going to have their own reality show.

Lwatkins · 13/05/2007 00:07

Evening All

Reporting from my Gran and Aunt's house atm, came up for the night with my mum - who has abandoned me here to go see a friend for the night and be back in the morning. Am tempted to do a false labour call to her mobile in the early hours of the morning just to keep her on her toes Oh but I wont, I'll be a good daughter

Glad to hear SOH and family are back home. That was an early discharge from hospital after an em c-section wasn't it? I thought you got kept in a couple of days at least, hope she is ok. Must be a bit dissapointing, know how much she wanted her home birth. However her and babies saftey comes first so just glad to hear they are both doing well.

TYG - 2:30? I thought I was the lazy, bum of a student that didn't see the light of day! Ah, your after my crown. I'm on to you! I got woken up to bloody Cascada's album of pure sh*te this morning by my sister - 9AM! I swear I'm gonna destroy that cd, it's ALL she listens to. It's the biggest load of wank I've ever heard in my life - it all sounds the bloody same! Have been punishing my mum with evil eyes for allowing her to buy it and listen to it. But she can't listen to it nice and quietly, oh no no. FULL VOLUME just to make sure everyone in sodding China can hear it as well, wouldn't want them to miss out on all the fun now would we?

LG&T I feel your misery lovely! I'm fed up too. Though I think your actually a week or two in front of me so I'm moaning a little early! All I've been getting today from my Aunt and Gran is 'oh, you'll be ready soon', and 'not long left', oh and my personal fav 'babies come where THEY are ready'. Do I look like I NEED reminding? Do I? I swear it's comments like these that make me want to eat my arm! I'm frustrated enough as it is without people constantly commenting and pooling in for when they think the baby will come. Oh yes, my innocent, unborn child is now being used as a source of gambling! Love my family

Hope everyone else is feeling ok, I'm quite wide awake atm. Think it's because I'm not in my house and I know I wont get to sleep for some time as I'm not in my nice, big comfy bed. Ah well. Logging of now, catch up later

Pebblemum · 13/05/2007 00:35

MKG sorry to hear about your dog, hope he returns safely soon

SOH glad you are both home, lok forward to hearing all about it and congratulations once again

MrsJB I know its a bit late but Happy 30th Birthday. PMSL at the image of you bouncing around on the trampoline. We had ours delivered today must admit my first thought was to give it a go (im a big kid at heart) but now think i may wait until after baby is born especially as anyone walking through the car park at the end of our garden would be able to see me, not a pretty sight at the moment but once bubs is born i'll be slim and gorgeous again lolso it wont matter

Lwatkins half my street are taking bets on when this LO will arrive and her weight too and almost daily im being asked if im having any pains etc, then people everywhere keep asking how long ive got left, it is driving me mad. I also understand how annoying your little sister must be with her music, my ds1 is almost 10 and has just started listening to music but he seems to think everyone wants to listen to it as well (and ive gone and bought him a new hi-fi for his birthday i must be mad)Im trying to stay calm about it as im pretty sure i was the same when i was younger but when he listens to the same crap over and over again its enough to drive anyone mad

LG&T im getting fed up with thinking every twinge is something and then turns out to be nothing at all.

Im sat here now having horrible pains but im pretty sure they arent contractions so im trying to ignore them rather than get my hopes up. They are mainly in my back but now and again some of them move to the lower part of my bump and then it feels like a long stabbing type of pain, I should probably go to bed and hope they go but ive just scoffed half a large Hawaiin pizza and garlic bread so will now have to sit up for ages if i dont want to suffer with heartburn

I cant have this baby tonight anyway dh is passed out on the living room (and yes that is where im going to leave him as well)He was only supposed to have a quick drink this evening but ended up meeting lots of friends and he staggered home about an hour ago and once hes passed out there is no waking him. Bloody men

cinnamontam · 13/05/2007 09:16

Hey all...

Have had a pretty crappy couple of days. Started on Friday with our car getting clamped by DVLA. When we moved last year and I called to change address it wasn't done (WHAT A SUPRISE). So no reminder, so I didn't pay the tax disc or get an MOT done. Spent the entire day on the phone sobbing to garages trying to find someone to MOT the car, then get it unclamped, then pay the Tax Disc after having to pay for new rego cert as I couldn't find the old one.

Then last night my gorgeous cat Bella didn't come home. She never goes out for more than an hour. DH and I were out walking the streets last night till 2:30am and then tried to get some sleep. Been up since 6am but still no sign of her. She's either been cat nabbed, attacked by a fox or stuck in someones garden shed or house.

Feeling like a pile of shit. Sorry to dump

madeindevon2 · 13/05/2007 10:09

hi scootermum. not been on here since friday afternoon. been busy sorting out baby stuff with dh. apart from putting batteries in the super-duper rocker my friend bought me its all done! also i dont normally log on at weekends when dh is with me. (he spends every other weekend with his other children) dedicate time to dh!! (actually he doesnt know im every so slighly addicited to talking to "total strangers" as he would see it!!) will email you properly tomorrow but yes. next friday sounds like good idea!

scootermum · 13/05/2007 10:16

Just what you need right now Tam, for you..have ahd similar probs with DVLA myself so I know how galling it can be..hope Bella comes back soon, I really do..

Well, I ended up spending most of yesterday at the hospital being monitored...pains were really bad, but they didnt feel like the right kinds of pains to me, (is there a right kind?!)More stabbing pains than labour pains and I hadnt felt the baby move of a day and a half, so after the viewings were done,by which time I was in quite a bit of a tangle, I called the midwife who ordered me straght in..
They found Mae's heartbeat fine, but were worried as she wasnt moving at all-they were really busy so were going to do a scan but no one free to do it, so had to wait for ages getting more and more panicky, but just as they were about to do the scan madam decided to wake up and do a little dance for everyone..
So alls well that ends well and I was home for the Eurovison voting ..still getting the ruddy pains though, feel like am being stabbed in the belly every 15 mins and making it very hard to manage DD, (DH at library again revising)

Dr P I asked the midwife at the hosp re your wedding outfit, (as she was an Indian lady), thought would kill two birds with one stone as was there a while, and she reccomended Salwar Kammeez as well and said deffo no shoulders..

Hope Dog comes home soon MKG..

Hope some babies come for those who want them today-we havent had one for a few days have we?

Have booked DD into cm's on Wednesday assuming baby doesnt come first, so I can have a lovely lie in..quite of your 2.30 yesterday TYG!

Lol at your trampolining Mrs JB...what next, Cargoe nets?Zip lines?Blimey I dont know where you get the energy..

scootermum · 13/05/2007 10:20

Lovely!
Glad you are all ready for lo to come..Its a nice feeling to be all prepared and just the waiting left to do I think..
I got my sterliser out yesterday and got all the dut off it and descaled it, so just a few more bits to get out of the attic, baby gym and etc..and we will be all done as well..
Hope DH's daughter is coming round a bit?
