TYG how was the needle session? I had it with Jonah to induce me and the magic lady had a table with a hole in it for my tummy!!!! It was pure heaven.

Am off to pound the stairs, want this baby out

Mrsjaffabiffa · 10/05/2007 16:15

ps: i had 2 epidurals and an induction and needed no assistance, so dont think the worst::

thanks for all the good wishes - will try and stay calm - apparently they won't let me push because it raises BP further....

agghhh!! heard our antenatal ward is absolutely vile.

aprilmeadow · 10/05/2007 16:21

Befnal - hope all goes ok and we hear from you soon.

Am off to Mums for tea so once again please can you let me know via text when baby Mathilda makes appearance. xx

twelveyeargap · 10/05/2007 16:31

Befnal, ask at the hospital if there are any private rooms. The acupuncture lady just told me that if I need to go to my hospital, that the private rooms are £90 per night. I didn't even know they had any.

LG&T - needles were fine. My hands were tingling like mad as she put them in. Said it might take a couple of days to see results though and I've to go back next Thurs if there's no real relief and I'm still pregnant. (Hope not!). She offered straight off to do the "labour" stuff since I was there anyway. The baby was going berserk whilst she put the needles around my hands and feet. Feet actually are less tender than when I went in, so that's good. And I feel a bit more energetic.

Not quite energetic enough to make dinner yet though... Hmm. Have chicken breasts, rice or couscous, lemons, limes, cream, white wine and some sugar snaps... Very little else in the fridge. Any bright ideas?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 10/05/2007 16:38

madeindevon2 · 10/05/2007 17:02

i asked about private rooms in watford. and they apparently about 600 quid a night!!!
if you go into the birthing centre rather than labour ward you get own room tho with ensuite. thats what im hoping for.
labour ward is 4 mums to a room (add partners and babies to that and visitors and it sounds like a nightmare)
no complications with me so far so i got fingers crossed for water birth with as little medical intervention as poss

scootermum · 10/05/2007 17:03

Good luck Cam for tomorrow..(bet she has gone now already). And to you Befnal..I really hope you get a birth as muh like the one you envisaged as poss...and Deffo ask about the private rooms, well worth £90 if you ask me!

Is the labour stuff with the needles supposed to make the labour easier then?Or bring it on?

No word from the SOH's I see..hope everything is going well..im going for 7.7 for the weight...

DD is incorrigable this aft-think its the after effects of yesterdays jab..She refused to let go of my leg at 'action tots', (and thus didnt get up to much action, so it was well worth the £4 paid for it), then she screamed her way round TK Maxx and all the way back from Hatfield, which made for a charming journey..feel awful as my patience is very thin today..being pg is making me a very bad Mother im afraid...poor DD...

all this soup cooking has inpired me to make some..Will NOT put a ruddy beef Oxo cube in this time!

Quick post for BefnalBub
I had 3 epidurals and was able to push each time - they were 8lb 10, 9lb and Victoria 10 day ago at 9lb 14oz. With the first couldn't feel anything at all but watched the contractions on the monitor and went with the flow so to speak. She took 20 mins of pushing.
With the others they let the epidural wear off so I felt much more!

Good luck!

InTheseShoes · 10/05/2007 18:16

Right, SOH family, I know you've been hanging on because I've been busy this afternoon, but I'm back now, so you may continue opens a bag of lemon bonbons and a can of Coke and settles in for the evening

Befnal - good luck!

Cameroonmama - good luck for tomorrow, will Mr Cameroon be posting to us at all? (I feel Mr SOH has set a precedent, and will be tutoring Mr Shoes in the ways of Mumsnet shortly)

There are one or two "faces" absent today - Lwatkins, you're not joining SOH are you?

twelveyeargap · 10/05/2007 18:19

Yey! THanks Mr LG&T. Only got as far as defrosting the chicken thus far, so I'll try that out now.

Scoot, the acupuncture may induce labour a bit earlier and may make it shorter... WOrth a shot. The swelling in my feet has reduced a bit, so that's good.

Megg - just been reading the EMIL thread. Yours is truly awful!

MKG · 10/05/2007 18:19

Good Luck Cam!!

Befnal, don't worry. You are doing exactly what I did on Monday. Just relax when they monitor you because odds are as soon as you lay down, your bp will lower itself, and they will send you home (hopefully). What is the state of your cervix? If it's soft and ready the induction should be pretty straight forward.

You don't have to have an epidural. Start out without one and see how you feel. That was my plan with ds and that is my plan now.

Thinking of all our gals about to give birth. May babies seemed to pick the same 3 day window.

MKG · 10/05/2007 18:20

I'm reading and writing. They won't let you push, what is the baby supposed to fall out?! When I was induced with ds I started out at 150/100 bp I was relaxed as soon as I layed down and throughout labor it was a lot lower. Just relax don't let those bastards push you around.

Pebblemum · 10/05/2007 18:26

Wow SOH took me ages to read all the posts and was scared id have missed the big announcement. You go girl

MrSOH is so lovely keeping us posted, my dh would be too busy running around like a headless chicken to do it.

Poor ds1 has been wanting to get on here for the past hour so i suppose i should let him (it was why we switched it on afterall) but its too exciting I dont want to leave, what if i miss something.

Im reckon Matilda will arrive at 8.25pm weighing a nice 7lb 8oz (unless she is already here!!)

I just hope she arrives before 9pm because ive got to paint the hall then and know i will find it hard to tear myself away from the pc if its still all happening

By the way congrats to the new arrivals (im so ) and good luck Cam for tomorrow (i know she has already left but better late than never lol)

Mrsjaffabiffa · 10/05/2007 18:28

It does just fall out MKG if they leave you long enough. After my epidural with ds they left me 1.5 hrs after I'd reached 10cm. I pushed twice once for the head and once for the body.

madeindevon2 · 10/05/2007 18:30

ive ground to a halt today. got no energy to do anything. opened the box of my "natures nest" and that was about as far as i got. started looking at the distructions and decided i would rather DH helped me put it together. the word "wrench" indicated to me that i could delegate this task....
got a bit of a headache too. and heartburn is really pssng me off. until about 7 days ago i dont think i have ever had it but had it every day this week...
baby is very active at moment wearing me out even more.
do babies go quiet often before you go into labour?? dh got another meeting tonight. he wasnt home til 9pm last night and prob will be similar tonight. boo hoo.
SOH .....is there any news yet??

madeindevon2 · 10/05/2007 18:32

pebblemmum....painting the hall? just standing up is tiring me out right now. feeling a bit useless

twelveyeargap · 10/05/2007 18:33

You can give birth in your sleep. If (God forbid) you were in a coma, you could still give birth. Your body does the hard work. Nobody has to push, per se, but we often feel the urge to.

MKG · 10/05/2007 18:36

I just think it's weird that they wouldn't "let" her push.

twelveyeargap · 10/05/2007 18:37

I think I'll start making dinner in the morning. I've no more interest in doing anything by this time of day than I dunno, anything.

I think I've been having some BH... I suppose it's progress. The front, top part of my bump is going solid. Does that mean anything?

scootermum · 10/05/2007 18:43

Know what you mean and Ive still DD to get in bed and abtu 10 jobs to do tonight..

Might do, your needles today might've set you off..How odd would it be if we all went into labour one after the other, like a domino effect..in essence we could be in labour for the whole of May and set some kind of record!

MKG · 10/05/2007 18:44

Sorry TYG the top part of my bump is always solid. It's the first time in my life I've ever had rock hard abs.

MKG · 10/05/2007 18:45

I hope SOH is ok. It's been a while since we've heard anything.
