morning hon..

This is like the modern day equivalent of the births of old where all the ladies of the village would gather at the house of the woman giving birth and boil water and line the bed with rushes or whatever...

I havent got any rushes..would she settle for a cotton Duvet cover from Next?

twelveyeargap · 10/05/2007 10:25

Morning MrsJB. LG&T, will send you updates.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 10/05/2007 10:30

Scoot, rofl at the dove in your chimney. Has it cooed off?

OMG, I can't cope, I'm so excited.

Have just had to run round the corner in my Pjs to the car to get the shampoo I bought yesterday out..in a very quiet village where usually you are hard pressed to bump into anyone, I met in the space of 1 minute, the postman, the milkman, my friend from up the road and a random who I believe to be the window cleaner..I have no dignity left..
Off for shower now..

But am leaving laptop where I can see it for news..

I wonder if the pool is filled yet?

BefnalBub · 10/05/2007 10:34

AbbyLou · 10/05/2007 10:38

Wow it's all happening here isn't it. SOH you sound like you're doing well. We had a bit of a crazy night with only 2 and a hlf hours sleep but hey ho, we'll see what today brings.

I can't quite believe I'm sitting here looking at my little girl! She is gorgeous, even if I do say so myself.
Once again it all happened without warning so true to form for me!
I'll give you the full story so if you don't want too much information - look away now!
I woke up yesterday morning to slight cramps andwhen I went to the toilet had a leak of hind waters. Fine, or so I thought until I realised it was green! I knew this meant the baby had had a poo so I was a bit worried and rang the hospital. We went straight in after ringing in laws to come round and look after ds. When I went to triage they sent me straight to the Delivery Suite as they all agreed that my waters had meconium in it. I was really worried as my Mum's friend's daughter lost a baby at term due to it swallowing meconium and of course that's all I could think of. It wouldn't go out of my mind. My mind was put to rest when the midwife heard the heartbeat but they explained I would have to be on the monitor throughout the delivery. They said they wanted the baby out as soon as possible so put a canular in my hand in case of induction or possibly a ceasarean if things went really wrong! This was when I started to worry again, all I could think about was horror stories of induction! Everything was going quite well to start with, I was getting contractions which were getting stronger but not quite strong enough for their liking! They decided to break my waters and then everything went bananas! The contractions were coming thick and fast and then the baby's heartbeat started to dip very low in all of them. They decided to put a clip on the baby's head to keep a better check on it and I had the same evil dr that I had last time. She was really rough and so snappy. Eventually they got this flipping clip on her head and we carried on. The next thing I knew was the heartrate had disappeared completely and everyone was trying not to panic us but not doing a very good job. I have to say I was completely terrified but the midwife was brilliant and stayed with us the whole time explaining what was going on. Dr evil came back and told us she was going to take a blood sample from the baby's head to check the oxygen level. Anyway to cut a long story short ( honest) the reults came back fine and then I seemed to have a burst of very strong contractions and the next thing I knew I was pushing and she was born. They have the whole established labour down as 4 hours 38 minutes so I managed to beat last time by an hour or so. Both of us have agreed that although we thought we weren't bothered about the sex, now we've got one of each we're both dead chuffed. Once again I have to say the stitches was the worst bit and still is although, the after pains, oh my god! I'ts like being in labour all over again!! Unfortunately I lost a lot of blood so have come out with 2 big packs of iron tabelts so as well as stitches to contend with I will have constipation and black poo!
Oh well, if that hasn't made you all feel sick or worried you've done well.
Best of luck to those of you in labour as we speak and those who are still waiting.
Catch up later!

cameroonmama · 10/05/2007 10:38

scoot lol at the old women gathering, hey what she really needs is a webcam so we can have a live action birth, do you think it would be a mn first??

I'm so excited, I have to clean

We have hundreds of starlings nesting in our eaves and it drives me potty each morning, with their squaking and scrabbling around - do you think i can kill them with an air rifle or is that not in the spirit of being eco-enviro-friendly nowadays?

AbbyLou · 10/05/2007 10:41

Can someone tell me how I can add some pictures of Ruby and make a profile?

Indith · 10/05/2007 10:44

Go SOH!

Just marking my place, wouldn't want to miss anything

scootermum · 10/05/2007 10:48

Well done Abbylou for getting through all that intact! And congrats again....
My consultant was a bitch last time as well, you'd think theyd perfect their bedside manner a bit..

I think starlings are protected Cam..or is that swallows? Not sure about doves though..im thinking seriously about it..theres a man in our village who has a car sticker that reads, 'i'd rather be shooting'..bet he'd be the person to ask...except that he may possibly be a lunatic!

I hope she didnt call all the rellys round like they wanted..(Says Scoot hanging on for every word like the most annoying kind of maiden Aunt!)

I wonder whats happening..I AM going for my shower now!

MKG · 10/05/2007 10:48

OK, it's 5:48 am here and I had to log on ASAP because I kept thinking of SOH. I haven't read up yet, but I hope everything is going well.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 10/05/2007 10:57

Congrats again Abbylou

Isnt this exciting Had shower and fed Ella now sat back at laptop with tea and biscuits.

MKG · 10/05/2007 11:03

How can anyone sleep with all this excitement?! Besides ds has woken me up for I don't know what reason. While he's sipping his milk I got attacked by bhs and it is like 800 degrees here for some reason. I didn't want to put the air conditioner on until at least the middle of June but I don't think I can take it.

ShowOfHands · 10/05/2007 11:07

Hi, Nice to meet you all it's MR SOH here. Just to keep youo all informed SOH is having contractions about 3 mins appart, lasting approx. 2 mins.

We're right next to the laptop in the birthing pool so you'll be regularly updated. Watch this space and we'll fill it with a Mathilda.

Oh, and I havn't gone to work.

aprilmeadow · 10/05/2007 11:08

How exciting. Definately cant go out now!

GO SOH!!!!!!!

twelveyeargap · 10/05/2007 11:10

Abbylou, go to My Mumsnet (link at the top of the page), log in and you can create a profile and upload pictures. You need to make your picture files small though, as the site won't accept large files.

Well done on the super short labour! Sorry they had you worried for a while, but great news that it turned out so well.

MKG · 10/05/2007 11:12

This is so exciting! I love it when the husbands come on.

scootermum · 10/05/2007 11:12

Hello Mr SOH...Not long now!
Give her a big kiss and tell her we are all there metaphorically cheering her on and mopping her brow!
