Wow it's all happening here isn't it. SOH you sound like you're doing well. We had a bit of a crazy night with only 2 and a hlf hours sleep but hey ho, we'll see what today brings.
I can't quite believe I'm sitting here looking at my little girl! She is gorgeous, even if I do say so myself.
Once again it all happened without warning so true to form for me!
I'll give you the full story so if you don't want too much information - look away now!
I woke up yesterday morning to slight cramps andwhen I went to the toilet had a leak of hind waters. Fine, or so I thought until I realised it was green! I knew this meant the baby had had a poo so I was a bit worried and rang the hospital. We went straight in after ringing in laws to come round and look after ds. When I went to triage they sent me straight to the Delivery Suite as they all agreed that my waters had meconium in it. I was really worried as my Mum's friend's daughter lost a baby at term due to it swallowing meconium and of course that's all I could think of. It wouldn't go out of my mind. My mind was put to rest when the midwife heard the heartbeat but they explained I would have to be on the monitor throughout the delivery. They said they wanted the baby out as soon as possible so put a canular in my hand in case of induction or possibly a ceasarean if things went really wrong! This was when I started to worry again, all I could think about was horror stories of induction! Everything was going quite well to start with, I was getting contractions which were getting stronger but not quite strong enough for their liking! They decided to break my waters and then everything went bananas! The contractions were coming thick and fast and then the baby's heartbeat started to dip very low in all of them. They decided to put a clip on the baby's head to keep a better check on it and I had the same evil dr that I had last time. She was really rough and so snappy. Eventually they got this flipping clip on her head and we carried on. The next thing I knew was the heartrate had disappeared completely and everyone was trying not to panic us but not doing a very good job. I have to say I was completely terrified but the midwife was brilliant and stayed with us the whole time explaining what was going on. Dr evil came back and told us she was going to take a blood sample from the baby's head to check the oxygen level. Anyway to cut a long story short ( honest) the reults came back fine and then I seemed to have a burst of very strong contractions and the next thing I knew I was pushing and she was born. They have the whole established labour down as 4 hours 38 minutes so I managed to beat last time by an hour or so. Both of us have agreed that although we thought we weren't bothered about the sex, now we've got one of each we're both dead chuffed. Once again I have to say the stitches was the worst bit and still is although, the after pains, oh my god! I'ts like being in labour all over again!! Unfortunately I lost a lot of blood so have come out with 2 big packs of iron tabelts so as well as stitches to contend with I will have constipation and black poo!
Oh well, if that hasn't made you all feel sick or worried you've done well.
Best of luck to those of you in labour as we speak and those who are still waiting.
Catch up later!
