Hopefully she'll poo it out tonight.

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 17:33

Derlor, how long before you'd expect to see it again? Presumably her body is trying to digest it so might not come out for a day or two? And what would the hospital do to get rid of it, would they keep her in and monitor her? (Holly, you might want to pack a bag while you decide).

Holly, don't panic, please.

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 17:34
derlor · 01/05/2007 17:38

i would expect to see it within 48 hours, however, if it is lodged in her windpipe then she will need an endoscopy to remove it (simple 10 min procedure) if it is in her digestive system somewhere and passed her windpipe then she is safe and they would just let nature take its course
NHS direct will tell you to go to A&E - I used to work for the Scottish version (NHS direct) and that is what we would have advised. If you are advised to go then don't turn up this will be investigated so think about it before you call if you don't want to take her then don't call.

derlor · 01/05/2007 17:40

oops i meant NHS 24 - i did work there, honest
OK holly no more nagging i'll let you decide, sorry if i've upset you x

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 17:48

to you both, glad your Mums on her way Holly, hope you are both ok xx

bumperlicious · 01/05/2007 18:02

Evening all

Hi to Rabbitsbreath and claire - welcome to the madhouse. Don't step away from the computer for more than an hour or you'll never catch up V tired after having been up at 5. Bloody braxton hicks! Not had them before but had about 5 today - who said they aren't painful?! Just a quick check in before yoga to say hi.

Holly, hope your DD is ok, sending poo vibes!

Derlor - can't believe your MIL! How irresponsible - but especially with someone elses child. Ok, gotta dash, back later!

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 18:32

thanks bumperlicious - I have noticed what you just said - I took a nap after reading about breastfeeding and only woke up about half hour ago when DH phoned to say he is on his way home

derlor - I would have screamed at my MIL if she did something like that with our child!

holly - re the hairclip - let's hope it's gone through to the tummy already. I would also have been scared to go back to A&E if they so much as hinted that I abused my child! But you do get horrible people out there and at the end of the day, the medical people are there to look out for these! Pity they scare off innocent, caring parents in a case like this!

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 18:50

That's interesting to know Derlor, that it could be investigated if you don't take their advice.

I've always thought that they'd err on the side of caution and tell you to go to cover themselves, but ultimately it would be up to the parents.

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 18:51

Sorry Claire74, I've not even said "hello".

I have no manners

derlor · 01/05/2007 19:36

oh Claire74 i've not found you yet hello from me too!
Yeah Foxy don't know how the English system works i know that in Scotland when you call NHS24 if the nurse you talk to has ANY reason to doubt that you will go to A&E if advised then it can be followed up and if necessary reported to social services as a 'concern' case. i had to do this on one occasion. likewise if the NHS24 nurse informes the A&E dept that you are on your way and don't show - they can report/follow it up from that end.
~Don't think this happens often but still good to know~

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 19:41

Gaaargh...been offline again since after 3:30, and missed all the drama...no news of holly? Poor Alice, I hope she's alright.

Feel like the world's worst mum this afternoon......got terrbily csught up in reading another thread and didn't realise the time...I'd nearly missed chucking out time at school. Had to jump in the car or I'd never have made it, got there and DS was last one in the classroom....it's a good job we only live a 5 min walk away.....blardy computer.....blardy MN. Haven't told DH the full story...just that I was running late, or he'll put a password on to stop me using the thing!!

Been in the garden this afternoon and a friend popped over with some stone for our alpine garden out front....no internet connection=some element of productivity...why has it taken me so long to figure that out

Never mind, plan to catch up a bit on here and then have another early night.

DS has been in bed since 6:20...he was watching the evil Jetix earlier...and didn't want to miss any Power Rangers, so just sat on the sofa and pissed himself then came through to tea and didn't even care that he'd done it...then he did it again later when he was doing his reading . I know he gets super involved in things and forgets sometimes, but that was just plain lazy....he's turning into a typical man..quite happy to sit in his own filth.

Now I feel like shit as he's probably just suffering post traumatic stress from being abandonded at school.....or the whole baby thing is starting to dawn on him...not sure really.

sorry...long post...just getting my money's worth out of our allowable 1000 posts

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 19:45

what's this about 1000 posts? is there a limit?

derlor · 01/05/2007 19:50

Hi Daisy - at you being last one to collect your LO i've done EXACTLY the same due to this bloody MN before too - oops!
i like your idea of long posts so that we don't need to think up new title threads every 2 or 3 days - this must be the chattiest (is that even a word??) thread ever.
still no news from Holly and i am now very concerned that i have upset her - she is probably calling me for everything, nightmare.
hope she comes back on tonight but i'm just worried that she hates me for interfering.

kittykitt · 01/05/2007 19:50

Hi,
This is like a full time job trying to keep up with the comings and goings of you lot!
Hi to rabbitbreath & Claire 74 btw!
H&A hope your daughter's poo delivers the goods. Fingers crossed!!
Just wanted to say THE BUILDERS ARRIVED TODAY AND STARTED THE EXTENSION. HALLELUJAH!!!! Here's to them knuckling down and getting it finished before 16 June (highly unlikely). I must be the only one who is secretly hoping to be overdue to get things sorted. Is that terrible??
Have just been for a swim (think a couple of you mentioned going for one today). It was lovely - our swanky gym has an outdoor pool and it was just what i needed after a day driving around with backache.. My costume was heaving at the sides with flesh overhang but who cares?

BadZelda - re: hair on legs stopping growing. Mine are the same, and usually i have stubble after 24 hours! My friend told me that this means you will have a girl because of the excess female hormones? Sounds a bit far fetched but we will have to wait and see. Do you know what you're having - i forget..

derlor · 01/05/2007 19:54

about your builders kittykit
we need a new thread every 1000 posts notsolikel and have to think up new names for them.

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 19:59

Kitty, good news indeed!

Derlor, thanks, was wondering if there was a 1000-post limit per individual. Egads that would toss me out soon then

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 20:06

Pretty sure I've passed that already, Lilkel.

this is what had me so engrossed.

Poor OP...some of what she says is right...after all who hasn't been completely ignored or slagged for an opinion....but maybe not quite the way to go about it. Of course...I'm not brave enough to say it on that thread though

bumperlicious · 01/05/2007 20:07

Derlor, I wouldn't worry, I'm sure you haven't upset H&A, and if you had I'm sure she would have said something. I hope that we would be able to tell each other if we though anyone was being unreasonable. In fact you're all far to darn nice sometimes!

BadZelda · 01/05/2007 20:07

Hello Clare74

Derlor - I'm sure holly realises that you only have her best interests at heart, and she's off being mum / at her mum's / on way to A & E - if I was her I wouldn't be offended, just touched and heart-warmed that you care.

Really shocked at your MIL derlor! I'd have been so cross. Although to be honest this is why I've never left Ella alone with my Mum: I just don't trust her as far as I could throw her. That's a terrible thing to say isn't it? But today she said she 'doesn't like' my brother's daughter who is only 15 months. How can any normal human being not like a baby! It's not like they are responsible for their actions! I often wonder why my mother had any children, as she hates them....anyway I digress.

Kittykitt: it's almost certainly a girl acc. to trainee ultrasound operator...but I'm keeping an open mind...you never know. Still tend to talk to bump as though it's a girl, just because I don't like referring to baby as 'it' and we've more indication in that direction than boy, if you know what I mean (although the pregnancy has been completely different to my first, which was a girl). I don't much mind either way - love having a little girl, so two would be a double bonus, but a boy would also make a nice balance in our little family.

Just catching up post work / dinner / bedtime: you're probably all off relaxing and being good parents now ;)

bumperlicious · 01/05/2007 20:10

Oooh daisy snap - I'm just making my way thorough that gem too. You are right, I agree with some of the points, some of the posters on mn can be intimidating and leave you out, but that's the same as in real life too. Sometimes I love mn, sometimes I get so frustrated - but one thing is guaranteed...

...I'm nearly always bloody on it!

kittykitt · 01/05/2007 20:16

BadZelda - I have really resisted finding out as i wanted it to be a surprise (this is my first). However lots of things seem to be pointing to a girl - high fetal heart rate, the hair thing, the highly scientific wedding ring test...
Secretly would love a boy but hey, as the cliche goes, just so long as he/she is healthy i'm sure i will be over the moon once LO arrives. Actually, DH & 1 are having real trouble agreeing on boys names but have one already chosen for a girl. So it may be easier all round...

derlor · 01/05/2007 20:19

Flip Daisy i was just reading that too - yikes NO WAY i'm posting on it!!!!
Bumper/BZ - thanks for your kind words but just one thing Bumper......

how did you know i've got my pigtail in today???

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 20:22

Daisybump that thread is like a car crash - just can't stop reading it... (apologies to anyone who ever suffered in a car crash, wouldn't want to be seen as rude insensitive MN'er ).

Personally I think this place is wonderful and all you ladies are the greatest thing ever. Stop me before I start in with the teddies & flowers tho pls!

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 20:25

oh yeah and at the risk of duplicating "that thread" just had to add, isn't real life a bit like MN? I mean, a bit of rudeness, some hurt, but honesty always paying off in a better quality of life in the end? Sincere apologies for the distraction.

Back to baby business!! Does anyone send birth announcements anymore or is it all email, text, and phone calls?
