Cd, i was most miffed to find out about an hour away from giving birth to ds that i didn't have to lay on the bed Was only when mw said if i had an epidural i'd have to lay down and i said 'well that makes no fin difference as i've been laying here since 9 anyway'(it was about 1 by then) and she said 'aw sweetie i thought you wanted to be there'No i fin didn't want to lay down, was attached to the monitor(ds heart rate dropped with every contraction) and was told i had lay down to by another mw!!!!

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 15:30

You said about your stomach going mad - my baby's been sticking various body parts out of the side of my bump a lot more forcefully than usual. Not sure if he's trying to distract me from the pain of the contractions, or whether he thinks that's how he's supposed to make his entrance to the world.
I blame DH for letting him watch Alien.

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 15:32

Gmm - it has to be worth a try - take a bottle of water and tip it down you if nothing's happening!
that so many midwifes seem to tell you odd things. I think I'm clear on most things but who knows what they're going to confuse me with when I'm there? Although this area seems keen on allowing women to do what they want in labour rather than medicalising things for the sake of it (so it seems so far) so hopefully I won't have too much of that.

maveta · 26/04/2007 16:20

Hello hello, still around.. just had a long lunch with dh, went and got an ice cream (getting waaaaa-aaarm here ) and then snoozed on the sofa for a bit.

Getting on and off contractions again but no stronger than before - oh wait - No, just a big fart

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 16:22

Sounds like a nice afternoon.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's what my 'contractions' turn out to be

geordiemacminx · 26/04/2007 16:27

I cant get enough ice cream at the moment - the local shop sells lemon meringue which is lush - also got baileys and pecan in the freezer - the later being particulary good for making banana splits with... especially whe combined with toffee sauce...

On a completely different note I have noticed that I have had really bad wind recently... is it a "sign" or just too much fesh pineapple and curry

CaptainDippy · 26/04/2007 16:43

Ooooh, ice-cream .....

@ weather naveta - bloomin' freeeeezing here ......

Mmmmm, getting hungree, think I need to find something to stuff my face with .....

Just had a wee nap, just feeling weird now.

bumble75 · 26/04/2007 16:45

Afternoon Ladies,

Ice cream... hmmmmmm, dh is in town, maybe I'll text him and ask him to bring me some back to top off the maltesers I just ate.

No baby signs here... .... but did have nice lunch with two girls from work and got some goss from them.

GMM - was also thinking about going to the baby show this weekend but don't know if I can face the drive to Glasgow (even in the passenger seat!) or walking around it once there... am tempted to go for freebies...

Labour vibes to everyone - c'mon babies!!

Emmymummy · 26/04/2007 16:54

Arggghhhh am so farking bored. Am feeling so hacked off today for no reason other than my life seems to just revolve around eating, weeing, watching crap on the TV and reading MN. What happened to having a purpose in life, huh, huh??

Anyone know any good jokes?

maveta · 26/04/2007 16:55

Lol Emmymummy - was just coming back to post..

I´m booooooooooooooooooooooooored.

I don´t know what to doooooooooooooo. [whinge]

glitterkitty · 26/04/2007 17:17

rant warning

Well after nasty examination at clinic this morning, found they couldnt do the sweep cos I am not at all dilated- arse. Cervix still posterior too. (Although it was 'soft' -thank you raspberry leaf tea!). Am really hacked off.

Babys still not engaged- could be cos of the fibroid. Doc said I should be engaged by now- and that Id probably be best to have cs. Then went to ask top doctor who has never seen me her opinion. She said no, go for vaginal birth. Am trying to convince myself they know what they are talking abnout...

Also wasnt impressed by the doctor saying 'are you still taking iron tablets?' And me saying 'err first Ive heard of it' and then her realising that altho my iron was shown to be low 4 WEEKS AGO and even tho I asked mw what my blood results were THEN -NO ONE TOLD ME. aargh! Oh the JOY of the NHS.

Booked in for another examination next Thursday when I'll be nearly 41.

Maveta your going to go before me arent you...huh

love to all, hope your days better than mine...

elkiedee · 26/04/2007 17:20

Me too. I've read over 200 pages of a fairly trashy novel - I've noticed the pages of any book I read seem to disappear fairly fast. It would be great if I could get at more of the books I want to read, but most have other boxes I can't lift at the moment blocking the way, and every time I finish something I panic about what to read next (this would sound mad if you could see how many books I have).

Otherwise I'm eating/drinking a peculiar combination of snacky stuff, scones, milk with banana flavoured powder, I bought Vimto for the first time in years yesterday because I'm so bored with water, cola ice pops. I crave ice cream, but not the kind that's available locally - I was most unimpressed by vanilla Haagen-Dasz. There's a lovely ice cream place near my aunt's in Kentish Town, but that's quite a hassly journey across north London from here.

Mike's on his way home, and in fact has just opened the front door. yay!

Emmymummy · 26/04/2007 17:21

Oh GlitterKitty, what a pile of old pants, no wonder you're hacked off. You go to see these people for their 'expert' advice and all you get is conflicting views, what are you supposed to think?

Are you tempted by the c-section option?

Emmymummy · 26/04/2007 17:24

Elkie & Maveta - ours lives are so thrilling at the moment aren't they? I keep panicing that I'm going to run out of ice cubes - seem to have it in my brain that I'm gonna get through heaps of them when in labour. Dh is in Waitrose right now and has been ordered to get some more.

maveta · 26/04/2007 17:25

Glitterkitty - what a bummer, I´m sorry! TBH I think the state of play is wide open at the moment, seems like all of us who are left are as likely as the next so you never know! What do you make of the cs option? Really annoying to get conflicting views, how on earth are you supposed to know who to go with ?

Elkiedee - Vimto sounds niiiiice.. I have apple juice. Or water. oh decision, decisions.

maveta · 26/04/2007 17:27

aren´t they just. I´m actually just looking for a webcam.. anyone know anything about webcams for Macs? [hopeful]

My cold feet box set arrived today, yay! But have promised dh I will wait for him. Though... I am so honest.. it never occurred to me I could lie to him. might go watch one now..

elkiedee · 26/04/2007 17:27

Fortunately two local shops that even I can walk to if I put some more clothes on (back in my nightie now cos it's more comfy) stock my preferred icepops in reassonable numbers. My dad and a friend nearby keep asking what they can pick up from the supermarket but everything I want at the moment is so peculiar that I'm not prepared to divulge details beyond Mikey. It's hardly conventional eating.

Emmymummy · 26/04/2007 17:28

Does he like Cold Feet too then? How good is his English?

Emmymummy · 26/04/2007 17:30

Elkie - this pregnancy thing is so undignified isn't it - in your nightie at 17.30

maveta · 26/04/2007 17:33

Lol... i only got out of my pyjamas to go get ice cream after lunch, and got straight back into them when I got in. All my maternity jeans are too constricting under my bump now..

Emmymummy - he´s never seen it but he´s a big woman so I know he´ll love it We were both crying at the end of ´terms of endearment´ the other week! lol. His english is okay, he gets by but could do with more practice mostly for his confidence. With the english subtitles on he seems to manage okay..

elkiedee · 26/04/2007 17:33

Well, I hardly had any maternity clothes, as I've only become very visibly pregnant at 7-8 months, and the ones I have aren't much more comfortable. My brother's wife gave me some stuff including two quite comfy maternity dresses, and I wear those when they're clean and I don't have appointments -dresses are no good when I'm lying on the surgery table having my tummy examined (top up, waistband down).

Emmymummy · 26/04/2007 17:34

Lol at 'big woman'. If only he knew the things you say about him!

Emmymummy · 26/04/2007 17:36

I know, I can talk as I'm sitting here in some yoga trousers that don't constrict under the bump at all. Don't want anything that constricts the passage of this baby downwards!

maveta · 26/04/2007 17:39

elkiedee - well that´s what you get for showing so late on!

Emmymummy - I know, I´m so mean, but it´s nothing I wouldn´t, or haven´t, said to his face.. he knows I love it, he is very secure in himself

glitterkitty · 26/04/2007 17:43

wasnt offered choice- as top consultant said no cs I have to go for normal birth. Just wish they had both had same opinion tbh!
