my ds is now ten months old, i had him last june. when i found out it was just before october half term of my 2nd year at 6th form. i had him the day of my last exam (2 weeks early.) my advice would be to continue at 6th form for as long as you can and to go back as soon as possible. i would have felt too isolated if i hadn't.

i started at cardiff uni last september and finish my first year in a week. you have to be very organised and not be tempted to miss too many seminars so you can be with your lo. (lectures aren't as important cos most of them are on the internet.)

i have been lucky in the way that all my friends are really involved with ds (even the boys!) and they often help me out with childcare if i need someone last minute. i know it isn't like this for everyone and some people find their "friends" soon forget who they are very soon. i hope your friends are as great as mine!

the one thing i would say is join as many baby groups or coffee mornings as you can once your baby gets to the 6 months mark. up until then he was great in the house and would just lie on the floor playing or go to sleep and i could get on and do things. after this he would get really bored staying in the house and very frustrated cos he would push his toys out of the way and wouldn't be able to reach them (he's non-crawler.)we are both a lot happier out of the house, or staying at home as long as there is other people to amuse ds - i think he gets bored of it being just me all the time.

sorry its so long!!

oh forgot about the breastfeeding... well it didn't go that great for us. i had to give up at 3 months cos i couldn't express and that's when i went back to uni.

firstly i would invest in a sling for ds to breastfeed in. means you can go about doing whatever you want whilst you feed your lo. secondly invest in lots of vest tops and shirts.

you might want to leave the hospital as soon as you can - i did. but really regretted it as i hadn't really figured out how to feed ds properly and they said we couldnt go home til he had eaten so to give him a bottle. i naively did as they said and then regretted it as ds would battle on the breast once he had had the faster flow of a bottle. my biggest piece of advice would be to stay in hospital until you have got the breastfeeding sorted.

No, I was Finance, but we had creative writing class together (American uni works a bit differently than in the UK, you take lots of electives in different areas).

His senior picture is hilarious, I'll try and get that for you.

blooming- a friend of mine hires out the FEMME tens, it is £20 , not sure how long that is for, she is off on her hols today..so will get back to me in two weeks when she gets back....

also, re antenatal classes, ask your midwife about the NHS ones, often the SureStart midwife is a good place to start....i know at our local childrens centre they run classes, and hace a SureStart midwife there

also, private antenatal classes , with the NCT tend to book well ahead, and it is best to get in touch with your local branch...they do cost though, about £150 for a course

hope that helps x
