Sorry, a CS is a caesarean section, but I am not sure how to spell it so I try not to write it out in full

Lwatkins · 24/04/2007 21:14

Yeah the first movement/kick is pretty sureal! I loved mine, got very cooey about it. Happened at about 20/21 weeks for me I think. Then she started pounding the crap out of my bladder and ribs and it's not so cute anymore lol!

EllieKthePA · 24/04/2007 21:15

hi Blooming, i've just had my 2nd son, i turned 25 not long ago and i'm a single mum. the ante-natal threads are an amazing support, i couldn't have got thru without my Due in April girls, and Lulu is fab for childbirth advice!

Nappyaddict is 18 i think

Dottydot · 24/04/2007 21:20

Hi Blooming! I'm horribly old but had to post because you mention Buffy on your profile so you have my utter respect! I'm a huge Buffy-holic - so much so that ds1 is named after Xander (although he's an Alexander still at the moment). And we were toying with the idea of Willow if he was a girl! Ahem...

Anyway, I had an epidural with ds2 and it was wonderful. I screamed and shouted my way through a couple of hours of labour (mine started very badly but I won't go into that) and the epidural brought me back into the land of living and it felt really weird to still be in labour but watching Coronation Street! I ended up having a c-section, but an emergency one because ds2's heartbeat was dipping - he's absolutely fine but they thought they'd better whip him out.

Anyway, good luck for the coming weeks! I felt ds2 from about 18 weeks I think but dp didn't feel ds1 until she was about 22 weeks - I remember getting very impatient..!

lulumama · 24/04/2007 21:22

you will get braxton hicks as your pregnancy progresses

which are different to general crampiness

your bump goes hard, and stays that way for a few second, and you feel like a definite wave of something

if you are having lots of these types of pain, and they are getting hard to cope with, you should call labour ward ASAP!!

i did a doula training course with nurtruing birth , and you can find out more at doula uk

I was pg at 16, had dd1 at 17 im now 25 and life has settled down. Wish i had, had MN when i was going through it all.

My main issues were my ex, my top tip's are...

(If you have a bloke/ get a bloke) Unless he is useful get rid as he is draining your energy and you need every ounce you have got for yourself and your precious baby.

Every stage is a phase that won't last forever

Sleep when baby sleeps do not feel guilty for relaxing when you get chance.

Make an effort to get out of the house once a day even if only to the shop. Toddler groups can be good.

Keep in touch with your friends, when baby is settled into a routine get the girls round one night a week at least.

erm will come back if i think of anything else.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!

LoveMyGirls · 24/04/2007 21:24

Don't bother buying any clothes other than babygrows for the forst 6mth's at least.

Wheres that thread gone about things not to bother with?

BloomingBennett · 24/04/2007 21:27

squonk-okey dokey i will its just i hate needles and i seen the programmes arrgh

lwatkins-yeah i have joined the antenatal thread only yesterday ill definatekly be on here most nights after school and work so will always reply also thats what im worried about, being lonely and leaving my friends maybe not as much as the birth though lol. also haha thats very good , can they break your ribs when they kick i heard that

lulu-that sounds great, i think it sounds really amazing that they can hiccup, but in school in my ethics class were doing about the rights of abortion and some times i get upset or defensive for no reason, its hard to be normal now. really i am normally quiet

chirpy girl- oh hehe yeah whats that like, will i need one because im little

elliethepa- hi thanks ask her to post this thread if possible

OP posts:
Lwatkins · 24/04/2007 21:31

Never heard of broken ribs before, but it can be fairly uncomfortable! I'm sat with her arse jammed into my rib cage at the minute, she's just gone and woken up after I ate! She seems to like my home made lasagne, my heartburn does not however

EllieKthePA · 24/04/2007 21:33

i had an epidural with my first, no problems from that at all.

with my second i wanted to go 'natural' and i managed it with just gas and air (and lots of encouragement from DaisyMoo )

if you can have a female with you at the birth i'd really recommend it, i found it so much better

bristols · 24/04/2007 21:36

BB - it's very difficult to deal with things like abortion when you are pg. I am a nurse and had to look after women after their terminations all through my pregnancy. Very hard indeed, especially the late ones. The hormones have an awful lot to answer for! You will also find yourself crying at ridiculous things on the telly especially anything to do with babies (human or animal)

Ah yes, the crying. It's become one of my favourate things to do of an evening Think the most recent silly outburst of tears was because someone in my flat (shared student accomadation) had used my cheesegrater and not washed it up. So when I needed to use it, it wasn't in my drwer where it should have been, it was on the side covered in someone elses cheese! Que LW flooding the kitchen with her tears lol. Honestly the way I was going on you'd think someone had eaten my last chocolate bar or something! Now that - that would deserve tears

BloomingBennett · 24/04/2007 21:45

congratulations blooming.

Just wanted to say yes, I definitely remember my ds having hiccups in the womb, nearly every day I felt it once I was about six or seven months pregnant. i still remember it fondly, it seems such an amazing thing to be able to feel. And the other thing I found was that in later pregnancy ds was SO active at night, it was weird. i would lay down to try and sleep and he would be constantly moving. it was nice but weird at the time, but now I look back on it and LOVE the memory of it.

oh and the other thing I wanted to say is that I understand that you'll probably encounter some prejudice about being such a young mum; but in many ways I'm sure it's something you'll be so glad of as your life unfolds: I'm 40 this year, with a four year old and while that suits me absolutely and I LOVE it, you will be footloose and independent again with your child an independent grown up by the time you're my age!

Very best of luck x

sunnysideup · 24/04/2007 21:46

oh and also meant to say LOVE buffy too and my favourite books/film EVER is LOTR. You are a woman of taste, clearly

Dottydot · 24/04/2007 21:48

Buffy is indeed the best ever. sigh. I have such fond memories of breast/bottle feeding ds's and watching tons of Buffy - they've probably got the theme tune stored somewhere in their heads!! I've not been able to watch it for yonks 'cos they're now old enough to know it's on but too little to watch it! Ds1 keeps asking when he'll be allowed (they're on the forbidden grown up shelf so he's of course fascinated) and I've told him when he starts secondary school - 6 years to go..!!

bristols · 24/04/2007 21:52

BB - perfectly normal and not in the slightest bit mad. Am off to bed now. Will be up bright and early with DS tomorrow. Make the most of all your lie ins in the next few months!!

Lwatkins · 24/04/2007 21:56

Is that the guy that played Angel? Gotta say that picture does nothing for me lol, and I'm heavily pregnant!

Name still undecided, but will have May as her middle name, and obviously she'll be taking my surname. Poor little mite just needs a first name now!

BloomingBennett · 24/04/2007 22:06

lapin-wow was that because of the drugs? which ones if dont mind me asking
