Typhoon's Mum....I bet that will end up being the photo you treasure over all the others when she's a sophisticated style conscious teenager!

Myfairone · 21/05/2007 18:40

Justaboutmanaging - Sorry to hear about the strange rash but glad to hear your weekend was good! Made you broody but not long to wait

Jamantha - Don't you just love Dad's! Mine has built me two wardrobes as well as finishing my bathroom and hanging various pictures! NOthing like a baby to set a deadline as you rightly said!

Typhoonsmum - That is such a wonderful story! I am sure she will look just beautiful and it will definitely be one to remember!

Pulapula - Hoping to get my weekly shop done while in labour! lol...Glad to hear it was no mad rush for you!

Well it has been decided that Asda knicks are the way to go and seeing as how none of you dared me to try them on in there, I shall just have to buy big and hope for the best!

pulapula · 21/05/2007 19:12

Myfairone,

I should add that shopping was the last thing on my mind when my contractions started (it was Christmas Day though), but a friend of mine did pop down to Waitrose to do the family shop whilst in early labour! So it can be done...She did push her first baby out in under 3 minutes so she is pretty amazing anyway...

JennsterSlugSlayer · 21/05/2007 19:58

Word of warning about Asda knickers, If found them REALLY small. I bought 14-16, and am usually size 12, but still found them really uncomfortable. Some were much smaller than others, yet from the same pack with the same labels.

I don't finish work for another 4 weeks, but only have 9 working days left. I only work wed thur fri, this week and am on holiday next week. That's when I'm doing National Trust properties. Then I've got 2 more weeks of 3 days each and I'm DONE! I might not even be working this Wednesday, because I have an outpatients appointment at mat unit because I keep getting weird urine test results. Midwife and GP can't explain them so they are just being safe. Maybe they will tell me which way little one is facing. He feels transverse to me, but he's probably still got a bit of room to move about.

3flightsofstairs · 22/05/2007 00:00

Myfairone - I daredaredare you to try your pants over your trousers in ASDA - and I can't wait for your next post.

I've just looked at my calendar and noticed that I missed a consultant appt this morning at the hospital to talk about VBAC. Oops. Is preghead a suitable excuse to give a consultant?

I've still decided to try for a VBAC - DS didn't come out as he was OP (backtoback) and there was no distress etc. so no reason for it not to work out, I hope. They're not getting to induce me and DS arrived one day after due date so hopefully that's not an issue either. I already feel quite determined (probably not in a terribly good way!) because of last time - is anyone else feeling the same? I feel like if I'm not completely clued up the docs will pull a fast one. Distrustful and paranoid? Oh, yes! But too busy sorting out mortgages and solicitors to be getting upset at this stage. So excited about moving - just hope we've gone before baby arrives! And I can't wait to meet him - got all weepy over a 4 week old in the street the other day - so tiny!

Good luck to everyone for this week - Kyte you're going to have a lovely baby! That should cheer you up!

twoplusone · 22/05/2007 07:34

Hi all,

Had my scan yesterday, the midwife the other week worried me for nothing.. Baby is with in the normal limits.. but on the smaller side.. but is weighing 2152g at the moment..(at 32wejs) Which I class a very good for me as DD was born at 36week and only weighed 2200g then..

On the big knickers front I have no idea were to get them from out here.. think I will have to get someone to do me a shop and bring them over for me...or post them..

I quickly skimmed and seems that everyone is doing fine which is good.. only just over a week to go and we can say our babs are due next month!!!!! I think the time has flown over it doesnt seem 5 moins since we were going for our 12week scans!!.

Hope all are well..
Take care

xx

Myfairone · 22/05/2007 09:27

Twoplusone - Im so pleased to hear that your scan went well! Sounds like LO is doing just fine!
If you can't find anyone to shop for big knicks for you I would be glad to do it and post em off. Just let me know.

You just made my tummy flip with the 'next week we can say they are due next month' line!!! OMG!!!!!

3flights - I shall have to try them on over my trousers now you have dared me, plus it seems that with stories of them being small I would be better to try them

I don't think its going to hurt to be prepared and if you feel paranoid about the docs then all the more reason to get clued up!

Jennster - goin to try all the knicks in the pack before I leave the store!!!!! Thanks for the tip and wish me luck.
I am so jealous of your work schedule. I have 21 days left over the next 5 weeks. I'm considering doing a sick week (is that naughty?)

Pulapula - I think I will stick to my online delivery!

I had a really bad night last night and have been up since 3am. Gave me way too much time to start worrying! For some reason I feel like I want another scan to see the LO. Does anyone else feel like this? I talked to DH about it and he said that he didn't see the need....but I really want to go but know its a lot of money that could be spent on something for the LO. Am I being selfish?

Was feeling pretty fed up this morning. Hands swollen and sore, feet puffy (couldn't get my nice shoes on ), tired after waking 3 times in the night. But managed to see occuptional health at work who checked my BP which was fine, so swollen hands probably just that rather than a sign of anything serious, and have been advised to take some time out to sit with hands above head to let them drain. And have looked at my calendar and have only 17 days in the office after today, so that's not so bad and is making me feel more cheery.
Am also keen to see LO, but personally not bothered about another scan. I just want to meet him/her. But yes it is getting close now, in a max of 9.5 weeks I should have my wish.
And must say that hearing how everyone else is doing IS making the bad bits easier, so thanks all!

JennsterSlugSlayer · 22/05/2007 12:05

Myfairone, if you take sick too near your due date, your employer can make you start your mat leave early. I don't know the exact details, but be careful!

Oh Jennster now you have crushed my daydreams of a sick week!

I had heard that so will be have to be careful..maybe just the odd day or two will be okay.

Jamantha - Sorry to hear you are having a puffy day (but glad to hear bp is okay!) I don't know if you have the heat where you are but its damn hot here in the City today! I just sweated my way through a presentation! urhghgghgh...

Anyone want to come to Asda with me to try on big knicks? Imagine the fun we could have parading around! Oh the CCTV footage would be a scream!

Myfairone- Thank you for the offer. My mil has gone out shopping for me today to get maternity pads..(thick and thin) breast pads, big knickers and muslin blankets.
i would have defo joined you in asda for a giggle.

Off for my hosopital visit to night to see the labour wards and see what pain relief they offer!!

Jamanthat glad to here that the swollen hands was nothing more than just that, and that your BP was fine.

My maternity tankini turned up yesterday so can start going swilmming now.. I am going to have to or DH will go mad at me paying £25 for a tankini that I dont wear, got 7.6weeks to get my moneys worth out of it. lol

Myfairone · 22/05/2007 13:53

Twoplusone - The offer stands if your MIL doesnt get the right ones!

Good luck with the swimming. If Dh wants justification for the tankini, tell him you are planning 25 swims in the next 7.5 weeks so thats £1 a wear! not bad huh!? Works with everything from tankini's to shoes!!!

Firststar - I remember those ad's! I wonder if they would throw us out? My guess is 'yes'!

JennsterSlugSlayer · 22/05/2007 14:00

Just made an appointment to get my long hair cut REALLY short... Dh just scowls and says it won't suit me, but it's only hair! It will grow. I haven't done anything but tie it back for the last 6 months anyway.

Next Wednesday....Don't think I'll tell people at work, and just turn up with short hair.

twoplusone · 22/05/2007 14:21

Jennster- goodluck with the haircut.

Thanks myfairone

Firstar, it might be ok afterwards.. the one I had when pg with ds was ok afterwards throw it out as we left Cyprus.. should have kept it lol.. But that one had ties at the side to tighten and loosen, this one doesnt have anything like that.

I am finding now that people are really commenting on bump and constantly saying."How long have you got left?" Iam 32+2 today, but instead of sayig 8 weeks I say just over 7 weeks to make it sound sooner..lol

Speaking of swollen hands - help please! I have just started to swell up occasionally (am 32.3 weeks), but had my BP checked and all ok. Last night I had to prop myself up in a sitting position to sleep because heartburn was so bad. But then I woke up in the middle of the night and my hands were swollen and sore, I guess because they were hanging down at my sides? Is there any solution other than sucking it up and suffering from one or the other, or stringing up my arms over my head when I try to sleep? Argh!

Jamantha · 22/05/2007 16:03

Hope haircut is fab Jennster. I did that a while back. Now decided to let it grow again (about 18 months later though so not like I regretted it, just now decide time to change again). Not as much of a shock as when I turned up at work one Monday with red hair though. Or as funny as when I met a load of girls for the first time on a hen night with bright red hair adn then confused them by turning up at the wedding a month later with raven black hair. None of them recognised me!

Jamantha · 22/05/2007 16:07

If it doesn't get too hot jendos I find that sleeping with a pillow on top of me (oh yes, yet another pillow!) and then my hands on top of that helps - anything to keep them up a bit. And sitting all evening with a pile of cushions on my lap and hands perched on top helps. I've been given exercises too - screw hands into fist and then stretch out and alternate a few times, circle hands 10 times in each direction, and generally wiggle hands about up in the air. If I can do that about once an hour during the day I find it does help, or at least has up to now.
