Congrats to Liath - sounds fantastic!!

Ellie - your night sounds awful you poor thing. I guess the new baby must be a bit unsettling for Matthew and of course you have to deal with it all yourself which must be doubly hard. Can you stick Matthew in front of a video later and snooze on the sofa? Hope tonight is better! I am working on the basis that if I spend 12 hours out of each 24 in bed, then if I get to sleep for half of that, that's almost a normal night! Messed up last night though as Orla was unsettled after her feeds and I ended up with her in the bed and me snoozing, then DD1 was up and messing about at 4.30 . . . Still at least she's at nursery this morning.

Bugmum - rant away - we are here for ranting! Try to chill a bit and not worry about stuff until it happens iyswim. Chances are you won't have a CS, and that you will cope with 2, and that even when it's tough, you will get through it, and if you feel you can't, we are all here going through the same stuff.

Right, that's enough cheap pop-psychology from me this morning. Off to get on with stuff while N is at nursery and O is asleep! Sorry to anyone I haven't mentioned - only had time to read a few posts.

nellyhel · 17/04/2007 10:40

Bugmum - it is hard work, sympathy. I was really awful to my two over the weekend, alternating between tears and yelling.
I know everyone (and esp every dc!) is different, but I found dd was actually easier after ds was born - felt it all a bit back to front really. She was 2 and half at the time. So you never know, it might not be as bad as you think having two!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 17/04/2007 10:43

Oooh zaza's, good luck. Look forward to hearing the announcement soon - no pressure then!

Bugmum, I am so sorry to hear you are having a rough time. I have days when I think, "God what am I doing having another child" and B is a lot older than your lo. I think just take each day as it comes, and you will be fine. Big hugs to you.

Ellie, enjoy storytime!

CD, sorry to hear the nits are still rife in your house as well. I am so fed up of them. B has had them on and off since July last year!

Hi Bramshott - lovely to see you, and glad all is going well.

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 10:45

Hi Bramshott - Nice to "see" you hon - glad it is going ok, despite not a great night - You know it gets better .... Get some rest now N is at Pre-School hon!!

Must zoom downstairs in a sec as washing is about to finish and my machine beeps forever when it finishes- very annoying!! (DD2 sleeping above kitchen.....)

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 10:46

Don't tell me that SOSPL!!! Do you think we should just be done with it and shave thier heads ......

eca · 17/04/2007 10:57

zazas - very of your sweep. mw just tried to give me one and couldn't even reach my cervix! Still nicely closed and thick! She said nothing's likely to happen in the next few days and booked me in for another next week. >

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 17/04/2007 11:03

CD, I am tempted to shave B's hair off I have to say. I am so fed up of it!

eca · 17/04/2007 11:07

CONGRATULATIONS LIATH!!!! Well done! Am beginning to get very of all these new mummies

Ellie - what a night!! xx

Bugmum - Sorry to hear you had such a bad day yesterday. Hope that today you feel brighter. I'm sure you'll cope just fine with 2 lo's. You sound like you've achieved so much already in your life, you obviously are one very strong and capable lady! Really hope that you manage to aviod the dreaded c-section, but if you don't then don't beat yourself up. It will take a bit longer for things to settle with 2 dc, but you will get there in the end. Thinking of you xxx

Hi everyone else!!

CD & SOSPL - hope that the battle against the little evil ones (that's the nits not the dc !! ) is going well!!!

nellyhel · 17/04/2007 11:09

Eca - sorry to hear about your sweep. I was really dreading that yesterday - dr did do something but was still high so I'm not holding my breath. At least you know I suppose, sorry not to be much help... I'm not sure if I'll get another go or not, seeing mw on Thursday before induction day on Tuesday.

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 11:11

Oh no, eca, they're pretty small and evil too!

IsabellyMoi · 17/04/2007 11:12

Fantastic news Liath - sounds like a wonderful birth (although fast!). Lovely that your mum was there!

Bugmum - sorry things have been so rough. Big hugs to you and hopefully the tooth niggles go away soon.

Zazas - very promising and exciting news! for you and only a wee bit

Enjoy story time Ellie I'm not sure how I'm going to cope with so little sleep!

LOL at "Bogmum"!! Also, I found GMM's and Maveta's discussion yesterday about cats in the moses basket hilarious for some reason. Thanks for the much needed laugh.

Had a very hormonal day yesterday. Went to the hospital because I'm 40 + 5 now and was booked for an induction for next Monday (23rd). I KNOW in the rational part of my brain that all that matters is having a healthy baby at the end of all this but found the whole idea of being induced very upsetting for some reason. I'm trying to keep a very open mind and I've felt pretty patient so far, but now I just would really like to go into labour naturally before Sunday night. They attempted a sweep and although it might have done a little bit of good, generally the cervix wasn't really in an ideal state for a sweep.

Also, the baby is still HIGH! (barely 1/5 engaged). Having a few niggles and signs but nothing very dramatic and like the rest of you, trying to ignore them for the most part.

Sorry for the long rant. As Bugmum said, sometimes you just have to get it off your chest. That being said, I feel quite a bit better today and am a lot less emotional than yesterday. Come on babies!

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 11:14

[[hugs] Isabelly - Hoping the baby come soon - Don't pin too much on cervix', sweep and engagment - baby WILL come when it is ready ... it is amazing how quickly things can change and develop ........

IsabellyMoi · 17/04/2007 11:17

Thanks so much CD - made me tear up just reading your message. Thank you!

Hello Nellyhel and Eca - sounds like we are going through very similar things. Wonder who will be first amongst us? My money is on Nellyhel!

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 11:18

Bless you .... {{{{weebly hugs}}}}}}

eca · 17/04/2007 11:21

I had a bit of a "what if" discussion with the mw about if I go over and have to be induced etc. I really don't know what I'd do with out mn. She was saying that if my waters go, but I don't have contractions they give you IV antibiotics after 12hrs (whether you have signs of infection or not) and that they would want to induce after 48 hrs. I have read on here (lulumama I think) that the NICE guidelines are that you can wait 92hrs to be induced. MW was very and didn't seem to believe me!!

Isabelly & Nellhell- know how you feel about being induced etc. (sorry can't remember is this your first or do you both have dc already??) I think I am going to seriously up the bedtime activity with dh in desperation!! I'm really wanting to have this baby at home and the thought of having to go in and be induced doesn't appeal. Although maybe by then I'll be so desperate I'll do whatever!!

I've been reading a bit on here about refusing induction and having regular monitoring, so I might go with that. Didn't Kitty on the March thread go a long time over???

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 11:25

lulu is right eca - they can't make you be induced if your waters have gone - different hospitals have different protcol. Once your waters have gone, you need to go in for regular monitoring to ensure you and bubba are ok; but more places will let you go up to 96 hrs before inducing.

My waters went with DD2 and I was induced after 102 hrs.

Just a reassuring statistic for you anyway ..... 89% of women go into labour naturally within 24 hrs of waters going ....

eca · 17/04/2007 11:26

Nellyhell -sorry of course you have 2 dc already!! Just re-read your post this morning (which I'd only read a few mins before I typed that asking!! Sorry, preg brain not like a sieve, more like a black hole!!

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 11:27

Kitty on March thread wasj ust short of 3 weeks over - although her waters only went while she was in labour. You can stick to you guns - as long as you and bubba are healthy, there's no reason why people can't go up to 3 & 1/2 or so weeks over their EDD ..... It ain't an exact science!!

eca · 17/04/2007 11:31

thanks CD. I think this mw would pass out in shock if I told her you'd been induced 102hrs later!! She was adamant that 48hrs was the max that any reasonable individual might consider !! I wonder, surely they must have an idea of the wider policies in the uk?

bumble75 · 17/04/2007 11:33

Morning Ladies,

Congrats to MIAMT, Octo and Liath!!!! And sending good vibes to Pesha and Zazas!

Had a busy day yesterday getting everything ready for my Mum and Dad arriving from Aus tomorrow. Had killer headache by end of day but everything now done so can spend day on sofa with a book today (apparently with headache back - yay).

Brain has gone dead with what else I was going to say - sorry! Looking at screen prob not good for head so going for lie down (although catching up with yesterday's chat was very entertaining) and will pop back this afternoon, hopefully with more chat.

Hope everyone is well and having a lovely day.

xx

IsabellyMoi · 17/04/2007 11:34

Hi Eca, really hope you get the home birth. Upping bedtime activities with DH sounds like a good plan Think that will be on our 'to do' list for tonight, as well!

Re antibiotics and refusal of induction etc...I don't have much to add. Just have read similar things as you on the internet and in NICE guidelines. Seems like so much still depends on individual hospitals and MW's though. What CD said agrees with what I've read so far.

Oh - and yes, this is my first

Have a great day!

eca · 17/04/2007 11:34

I think, because it's my first, she seems very nervous as well. Lots of "you don't know how it will go" "you don't know if you can push this baby out" comments. But, from what I understand, the same woman can have 2 or 3 really different labours and having one go one way doesn't necessarily mean that another labour will be the same.

eca · 17/04/2007 11:42

Hopefully Isabelly all this talk will be unnecessary and we'll pop before they want to intervene! Lots of labour/cervix ripening vibes to you today

lol - sometimes it feels like we're in the mafia on here! MW may say one thing, but if it contradicts general MN opinion then woe betide her! LOL that I can speak to my mw about induction and she can be soooo angst about going 48hrs over waters going, then I come on here and within 5mins I'm talking to CD who waited 102!! It's the mafia I say!!

eca · 17/04/2007 11:43

Hi bumble enjoy your day on the sofa!!

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 11:57

LOL @ Mafia!

No offence eca, but your MW sounds like an arse!!

Tee! Hee!
