Welcome all !!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
itchyncsratchy · 02/05/2007 08:51

oh no this can't be true??

This is day number 532

You're 76 weeks pregnant
Your baby's age since conception is 518 days / 74 weeks
There are -252 days until your due date! (-90.0% to go)

Aghhh! I'll try again...

Ludiloops · 02/05/2007 08:59

Morning All,

Funbun - I understand where your coming from with the getting in and out of chairs. I sat down for a well needed rest in a comfy looking deckchair in House of Fraser on Sat, and got stuck! (to be fair, it would be quite difficult to get out of if you werent pregnant!) Had to wait for dp to find me and help me up, most embarrasing!

I cant say I've had an BH or even much movement for that matter. Maybe I'm just not noticing them as I'm so busy. As this is my first pregnancy I cannot offer much advice to anyone as I am still learning so much myself. However, one thing I can say is DO NOT move house whilst pregnant! I've been so stressed and busy its untrue. Ive had terrible migraines (and I've never been one for even headaches before) and I'm still waiting for dp to lift things into the loft for me and setup my computer at home! I would never move whilst pregnant again!

On the plus side, found some lovely maternity trousers in Topshop that fit really well and look nice! Worth looking there and H&M if anyone else is struggling with clothes!

Hope all are well. Checked out those other websites, scary how little time there is left!!

stretchmarks · 02/05/2007 09:16

HI All,

Loler my DS had chickenpox the other week. It is fine if you have had chickenpox yourself before and doctors tend to be concerned if you haven't if you are less than 20 weeks.

DH and I are looking forward to a weekend on our own as DS is off to stay with friends on Saturday. Unfortunately we are taking the opportunity to have a blitz on the decorating before the family arrive from NZ but I am going to book a nice restaurant for us for Sat night and looking forward to a Sunday morning lie in !!!!!

itchyncsratchy · 02/05/2007 09:18

Phew this is better..
You're 24 weeks pregnant
Your baby's age since conception is 154 days / 22 weeks
There are 112 days until your due date! (40.0% to go)

It's nice to know. Thanks for that link bananabump.
I'm afraid not very cheerful today this back pain is driving me crazy, I'm feeling very sorry for myself. Can't do anything without shooting pain, standing/ sitting/ walking/lying it's all horrible. Even sitting on the loo. I want to cry and be miserable but can't, the programme I saw about stress hormones putting babe at risk of heart disease etc.. always reminds me to smile and breathe, stay calm!! But Aghh!!

I got news from proud dad that my friends baby arrived on Saturday, typical man, all was fine with mum and babe.. when I got to the nitty gritty she'd had 16 hour labour with heap of complications and emergency c-section, poor love. She gave birth at home in Sweden not here in Tanzania but it shocked me a little, I wouldn't like to go through something similar in the hospital here. I'm definitely leaning towards returning to UK.

On happy note babe is very busy, feel lot of kicks to bladder and up above navel, maybe some kind of 'saturday night fever' disco moves. Found a lovely pushchair/carrycot too Britax vigour 3, but I don't understand yet the car seat stuff, what is isofix?

stretchmarks · 02/05/2007 09:31

HI Itchy,

Sorry to hear you're having a bad time - sending you lots of positive painfree vibes.

Isofix is a type of fitting for car seats some car manufacturers have put points in the car that you can attach the car seat to, these are called Isofix.

itchyncsratchy · 02/05/2007 09:38

Hi stretch,

if there aren't any points in the car can I buy something to fit the seat?

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 02/05/2007 09:40

Good Morning everyone,

Sorry you are feeling so rough itchey ,its not nice , my pg with ds i suffered, thrush, headaches and heartburn from week 16 all the way until he was born! it wasnt that much fun, but i must say this time round i am fine (at the moment) nothing, lots of aches and a little back pain but nothing else, so feeling rather good at the moment!! just want time to fly now!
ds felt the baby kick yesterday and today which was great, said they were giving each other a High Five!!! ah bless!!!!

itchyncsratchy · 02/05/2007 09:51

Hi pink!
Thanks and ahhh! That's so cute! Dp has started talking to babe any chance he gets

stretchmarks · 02/05/2007 10:34

Itchy,

I think there are two types available now most seats are fitted to the car with the seat belt. Though with thier first seats now I think you can buy them with bases where you attach the base to the car and then click the car seat into the base.

We've got to get DS1's out of the loft and try and remember how to fit it into the car as I don't think I'll be able to find the instructions.

Morning Pink - my little one was so quite on Sunday I was beginning to get a bit worried but he has been putting in some good shoves and kicks over the last 2 days. I was working in the office yesterday and was convinved other people must be able to see strange bits poking out of my stomach. He has a tendency to go very quiet though when DS1 or Dad tries to get a feel.

itchyncsratchy · 02/05/2007 10:52

Ah-ha, I'll look into this a bit more, thanks stretch.

katybird · 02/05/2007 13:54

Hi everyone,

Wish I was outside in the lovely sunshine instead of in the office but other than that I'm feeling really upbeat at the moment. I'm a few weeks behind everyone else (day 167 according to ePregnancy, thanks bananabump!) so I'm sure the back pain will kick in soon, but I'm feeling quite energised and I finally have a bump to be proud of!

Had my 24-week appointment this morning, heard the heartbeat for the first time which is so amazing! I've only had one other midwife appointment due to a mix-up at the hospital and she couldn't find it last time. LO's kicking every day now too, which is reassuring - mainly on my right side but he's not targeted anywhere painful yet!

Carseats - we don't have a car but I think hospitals in the UK won't let you leave after the birth without one, so can anyone recommend a cheapish one that's not too big to carry around?

GillL · 02/05/2007 14:03

Bananabump - Gaviscon is fine to take for heartburn in pg. I think someone else on here said they were taking Rennies.

itchy - I just got news from dh that our nephew was born 7lb, mum and baby well! I asked when it happened and for all the other details but that's all he could tell me.

Ludiloops · 02/05/2007 15:46

Does anyone else suffer from pain between their ribs and belly button at all? At first I thought it was a foot wedged in there but the pain has been there for about 10 days now. The pain is in the same place everyday and is always worse as the day goes on. Always more painful when coughing or sneezing. No other symptoms at all, in fact other than that, feeling quite good. Sound familiar to anyone??

Am also missing all the sunshine in my greenhouse of an office.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 02/05/2007 15:48

but what ive read ludi ( i think) its because this stage the uterus is pushing up so we have less space and will push against our ribs, they may be it

katybird · 02/05/2007 17:08

That makes sense pinkranger, from now on everything will just get more squished . I've not had anything like that yet though.

Annie75 · 02/05/2007 17:23

Hi Itchy. You shouldn't have to put up with back pain that's making you cry It could be a trapped nerve or something. I'd look up a chiropractor in the yellow pages and see if it's something they might be able to help with.

itchyncsratchy · 02/05/2007 17:35

Hi Annie,
I'm sure you're right it's a trapped nerve or something. Trouble is I'm in Zanzibar with no hope of finding a chiropractor.
I've been trying to rest a lot but even that seems to aggravate it, only swimming gives teporary relief and it's been raining here the last 48 hrs! Oh woe is me! Misery in paradise, that's quite a catchy nickname actually!!

Babylovesmuffins · 02/05/2007 17:44

itchyncsratchy · 02/05/2007 17:51

Hi Baby, have you added yourself to the due in Aug stats thread, I wish I knew how to add a link!
shocking I can never work that out...
I'm due 23rd Aug and it's a girl!!
How are you feeling?

katybird · 02/05/2007 18:05

Hi Baby, welcome to the thread!

I'm due 23 August too, expecting a boy! Nice to have someone else who's due towards the end of the month.

Here's the link to the August stats thread . I hope!

Babylovesmuffins · 02/05/2007 18:05

Hi Itchy
Oops - not added to the Due in August thread - will try and find that now...
Have started to feel exhausted again this week but apart from that I'm fine! Think it might be third trimester tiredness starting already - I'm going to have to make myself go to bed early again!!

Oh, and I've started to balloon this week Now I look very very definitely preggers! (I'm quite tall so it's taken a while to show...)

Babylovesmuffins · 02/05/2007 18:07

Hi Katybird
Thanks for the link. About to leave work but will hopefully get logged on tonight!
I don't know what I'm having yet!! It's going to be a surprise (I do keep calling the baby "he" - will have to apologise if it's a girl!! )

MrsBadger · 02/05/2007 18:18

hi Muffins - recognise you from the 'OMG I can't stop eating' thread

I had my long-awaited arterial Doppler today and everything looks utterly normal [loud hurrahs]
Chances of a homebirth seem scotched compeletly but the Prof was intelligent, reasonable and a lot more laid back than the arsey junior Dr I saw last time, so am quite happy to go into hosp if he has his eye on me.
Which is nice .

Annie75, how did you get on with your consultant last week?

katybird · 02/05/2007 18:29

Great news MrsBadger! At least you'll be less stressed about going into hospital if you know he's around.

I'm blaming that thread for the white Magnum I scoffed half-an-hour ago... Thank god our canteen has started selling ice cream!

conkertree · 02/05/2007 18:57
