Hi All, am new to Mumsnet! Am also due Aug '07 with my first baby! Am very excited but extremely nervous about the birth. Have reached that stage where my normal clothes no longer fit but maternity clothes are drown me. Am off to Norwich this weekend in search of something that fits!
Can also agree with those that are waiting for the 'blooming' stage to start! So far I've had sickness, fainting, backache and lots of peeing (especially in the night!) No wonderful pregnancy feelings as yet....starting to wonder if its all a myth!
Great to read about how others are getting on hear what is 'normal' about pregnancy.
Can anyone help me on the rules on flying? Trying to plan a holiday but all the books I read are quite vague.

bananabump · 26/04/2007 17:20

Hi Ludiloops, welcome to the thread!

Not feeling 100% the past few days, had a lot of aching in and around the bump, was a bit worried last night but there's no other symptoms, just aching that gets much worse when I walk, and a general grotty tired feeling. And I got loads of extra sleep, doesn't make any difference. Bleh.

pinkranger · 26/04/2007 17:41

Welcome Ludi!
banabump , i had this week and just felt generally rough, also like you bump hurt load and even called the midwife but it started to wear of after 2 days or so, they said it was streching pains and this week felf much better, and my bump has grown!! She also said that if this is your 2nd (or 3rd/4th) baby the streching is always alot worse then your 1st pg!

try and rest xx

bananabump · 26/04/2007 19:32

Pinkranger, I thought my bump had gotten bigger too! I thought it must just be my imagination, but it seems to have grown over the last two or three days! cool, I'm not going mad....

Yep, resting. The most I have done today is baked some banana bread to er...keep my potassium levels up. ahem.

MrsBadger · 26/04/2007 20:01

sorry to do this again treacletart, but any chance you could have a squint at another clotting thread?
And Uki, if you're around?
Thanks!

and hi Ludi

PurpleRabbit · 26/04/2007 20:14

Glad I'm not the only one sometimes finding my toddler hard to deal with, when combined with pregnancy tiredness! I feel like I've spent the whole day saying "no" and "don't" - touch the washing machine/tumbler dryer/freezer, pour milk all over the floor, bang toy car against the hut, etc, etc. What on earth is it going to be like with a baby too?????

SweetyDarling · 26/04/2007 20:42

Hi Ludi,
Welcome!
Have you added your stats to the other thread?
Speak to your MW about flying if you're planning a holiday and she will give you a letter to show the airline. Airlines all have different rules about how late in pregnancy you can fly, so make sure you check with them before you book anything. Also check you can get proper travel insurance.
See you round!

SweetyDarling · 26/04/2007 20:46

My bump has been hurting and growing as well. Aching as well as weird twingy feelings. Seems to be nasty but normal.
Has everyone had their anomoly scans now? Seeing as I am due on the 29th and there's not many after me I must be one of the last?

treacletart · 26/04/2007 20:57

Evening all! Happily added my twopenneth to the clotting thread MrsB! My fabulous Firstwheels City Elite with carry cot and all the bits for £100 ebay bargain arrived this evening . I'm chuffed to bits. Ds has been playing with it and pretending to be a baby. He's been really good about the pregnancy and is very excited about being a big brother. He'll be 4 at the end of June so things are much easier for me. It's incredibly hard work dealing with toddlers at the best of the times I have nothing but the utmost repect for any woman dealing with babies/toddlers and pregnancy simultaneously. It must be a nightmare for you. The only advice I have is to ask for/accept as much help as you can get!

treacletart · 26/04/2007 21:02

Sweetydarling if your aches and twangs get worse - particularly when getting up from sitting or rolling over in bed - then it might be SPD. I had the beginings of it, but I've been seeing an osteopath who's made a massive difference to me. It was really painful and I'd hate to think how it might have been if i'd had it badly. Hope it gets better for you soon.

lizziemun · 26/04/2007 21:31

SweetyDarling i'm due on the 30th, I am also having strange twingy/stretching pains.

treacletart i have been thinking my aching back and pelvic area pain may be SPD, but i am hoping it well go as it is not to bad at moment.

I am getting fed up waiting to bloom , i am just blooming fed up with still having odd days morning sickness, and no apitite(sp).

Uki · 27/04/2007 04:13

HI Again

I'll try not to make you all jealous, but have just returned from wonderful holiday sunnying and swimming in Fiji.
It was sooo good, really great snorkelling and food. The fijians also love children so ds had a ball getting attention.

I was one of about 5 (6 monthish) pregnant ladies there, so looked like we all had the same idea of r&r before baby.

Ludi- welcome I think I remember flying is fine up till 32 weeks, just remember to drink lots and move around.

Mrs badger- have added to Mrs mc's thread, Your clever to remember everyone and their issues

I've also had some weird pang pains, from what I think baby is in weird position, mainly when also trying to carry ds.

SweetyDarling · 27/04/2007 09:07

Thanks Lizzie and Treacle.
I don't think the pains I'm getting are particularly out of the ordinary - they seem to come and go and don't seem to be getting worse.
Ahh Fiji - haven't been there for ages! Where you on the mainland or an island?
Can you avoid cava by being pregnant?

SweetyDarling · 27/04/2007 09:11

Has anyone else noticed that of those of us that know what flavour we are having, there are more than twice as many boys on the way than girls!!?? Something in the water?

conkertree · 27/04/2007 09:18

Aah the evenings drinking cava - or rather avoiding drinking it on drawaqa island - those were the days.

dh and i got a round the world ticket in 2003 and spent 8 weeks going all over, finishing in fiji - now thats a happy memory to start the day off with.

MrsBadger · 27/04/2007 10:14

sweetydarling, it's either that or all the surprises will be girls, just to even things out...

funbun · 27/04/2007 12:15

Figi sounds so lovely. We're off to France in 4 weeks, so excited about lying on the beach and reading a good book. What are the rules on sunbathing? Obviously I'm not going to go for the burn but hoping to slowly get a pleasantly brown bump. We'll have a brolly on the beach so I get in the shade if necessary, also France in late may is not scorching.

Will have to aviod all the yummy cheeses and pate's.

Hello to Ludiloops.

SweetyDarling · 27/04/2007 12:17

Funbun, Just remember that you might be more prone to burning while you're pregnant and the sun doesn't need to be hot (or even visable) for you to burn. Just use lots of 30+ and be extra careful.
So jealous! Would love to be stretched out on a beach about now!!

tokentotty · 27/04/2007 12:27

Hello all, am back from sunnyish Spain. Well, was back in work yesterday but had such a sh*te day that couldn't face chatting. You know one of those days when just everything goes wrong..... Still, today WILL be better and in all fairness, nothing rubbish has happened yet (yes I know, there's still time).

OP posts:
tokentotty · 27/04/2007 12:31

Ooh, and as for sunbathing, I actually lie a towel over my bump I'm afraid. Might just be me but if you think about how strong the sun is and how much light does go through your skin I prefer to keep Peanut covered up. Also someone told me that they'd seen pictures of a baby covering it's eyes inside it's mother in strong sunlight.

OP posts:
SweetyDarling · 27/04/2007 12:35

How would you get a photo of an unborn baby in bright daylight? And are they actually coordinated enough to cover thier eyes on purpose?

tokentotty · 27/04/2007 12:38

To be honest I really don't know, just something someone said they'd seen. As for what I do, is TOTALLY something that have in my head and how I feel. I have absolutely no factual grounds on which it is based at all, so don't for one second think it's of any significance honestly.

conkertree · 27/04/2007 12:56

we are off to france too next weekend - havent had any time yet to go shopping for nice summery clothes yet.

the scottish parliament elections are on thursday and we are out helping deliver leaflets this weekend, but will hopefully get some shopping in on Sunday.

I was a bit put off sunbathing on the beach cause i wont be able to lie on my tummy. but will enjoy just not being at work whether it rains, snows or is sunny.

conkertree · 27/04/2007 12:59

i can see how it might happen that they shy away from the light cause was reading in the baby book that we read each week that if you shine a bright torch against the bump, the baby will react - often by moving away from it, so it might be the same with the sun.

but who knows.

SweetyDarling · 27/04/2007 13:06

Just had a mental vision of a sonographer leaning over a preganant belly while the mum sunbathed on the a beach!
