Today DP and I went to buy some stuff to wear to this wedding in Spain we have to go to next week. Had a lovely day; got my first ever manicure (which was more like a file and polish since my nails are bitten to the quick) but feeling absolutely knackered this evening and so paranoid.

Has anyone else experience cramping? As if AF was coming? I swear I've read about it being a normal symptom but I can't help feeling scared. Anyone able to reassure me it's not necessarily a sign of something bad? No bleeding or anything.

HolyShmoly · 06/10/2017 21:32

Sulky, I've had exactly this. Lots of little twinges early in the week, no worried about them, felt quite excited and actually told the little bud that she was being so good and growing big for mammy.
Then yesterday I had like the worst period cramps and felt like my period had definitely come on. I was so worried. No bleeding or anything though. I did see the GP last night and he said it was normal (after lots of googling said the same) but to call if I started bleeding.
Today, no pains during at all during the day so then I was so worried that she'd stopped growing! You can't win!
I've started having pain again tonight, I think the bit of icecream after dinner woke her up!

SulkyPuddleDuck · 06/10/2017 22:08

Holy - thank you! You're totally right - we can't win! It means a lot to know that others experience the same - how anyone is chilled through this time is beyond me. Come to think of it I do remember my Mum telling me once that when she was pregnant with me she 'thought for about eight weeks you were a hangover and bad period pains'. I'm glad you got to see your GP and that they were reassuring - do you see the same doc every time or are you at one of those polyclinics?

I'm still on the sofa and - boyfriend is making dinner tonight (which smells amazing.) I did get up to make an enormous salad as am absolutely craving vegetables but other than that I've been an absolute lump. I feel really guilty - I wouldn't mind if I was 8 months along but I feel like I'm being really lazy and I don't think he quite understands how exhausted I feel. Might try and make him read something (though my recommending an article or website is an absolute guaranteed way to zap his interest completely!) He's being very sweet though.

SulkyPuddleDuck · 06/10/2017 22:14

Having said that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this: www.daddyfiles.com/13-things-prego-women/ ;)

HolyShmoly · 06/10/2017 22:15

I have to say, the tiredness hasn't kicked in for me yet. But I'm absolutely taking advantage of DH doing even more than usual this week! If he wants to do all the laundry, who am I to stop him?

There's about 5 or 6 doctors at my surgery, so I've seen them all over the years and I haven't really been fussy before about who I go to. This time it was actually a locum so a whole new one, but it was an after work appointment so he was the only one in.

IrnBruCraver · 06/10/2017 23:15

I've had so much cramping but my test lines have just kept on getting stronger. I've heard many women experience it. I had no idea, I assumed the worst until I did some research.

As for breast pain, when you say they're sore do you mean it feels like you have been punched in one or both of them?! Because this is my current feeling!

Also the bloating, oh the bloating!

SulkyPuddleDuck · 06/10/2017 23:37

@Irnbrucraver I'm cramping a lot around the left ovary which is freaking me out because of ectopics... but then I've been reading a lot about corpus luteum so hoping to God it's that. I actually booked a private scan for 7 weeks for peace of mind (3 weeks to wait..) but if it continues and the HcG results come back OK on Monday I might see the doc again and ask if they can do anything earlier.

I'm really worried that the level of anxiety I'm experiencing over this is actually bad for me/the splat. I'm in a constant state of panic which can't be healthy (previous history of anxiety and depression probably doesn't help!!)

SulkyPuddleDuck · 06/10/2017 23:38

@Irnbrucraver - and yes, I think someone is punching me in one or both tits every night, or at least pinching the underside (and I haven't let poor partner near me so it's not his fault!)

IrnBruCraver · 06/10/2017 23:52

@SulkyPuddleDuck ha yes poor DH hasn't been allowed near me either! I also suffer with depression and anxiety but am trying not to let that take over and allow myself to enjoy it, pain and all. But if you can put your mind at ease there is certainly no harm in doing so! I hope you can get a little peace, I know how you feel.

Bunnyears85 · 07/10/2017 06:15

@Sulky I suffer with anxiety too, which started quite severely after giving birth to DS last year. Strrtee with horrific nightmares about something awful happening to him and after his birth I didn't sleep at all for a week Shock I was OBSESSED with starring at him in case he stopped breathing or something. Anyway the community mw referred me and I've been on Citalopram ever since. Worked a treat and most days I feel 'normal'. However I've been told by my dr that Citalopram isn't safe during pregnancy and to stop immediately. So I have but hoping I don't regress Confused

Bunnyears85 · 07/10/2017 06:19

Those obsessed with googling baby's development, (like me!) Here's a fab website with day by day pictures and information www.familyeducation.com/pregnancy/week-6-pregnancy/you-are-5-weeks-3-days-pregnant

SulkyPuddleDuck · 07/10/2017 06:40

@Irnbru and @Bunny - thank you so much for sharing. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who struggles with the old serotonin or whatever other chemicals make us tick along nicely! I've had 'issues' on and off since I was 15, the worst being from 15-18 when I got v ill and spent a few years as an inpatient (anorexia). I've been recovered from the age of 20 but had a couple of bad dips with panic attacks or depression. I'm pretty good at self managing nowadays and to be fertile is a bit of a miracle - I was told 6 years ago to expect to never conceive.

Bunny - glad to hear citalopram helped and I'm sorry to hear it's not safe in pregnancy. I found it one of the most helpful in terms of combatting both depression and anxiety. Funnily enough I was thinking earlier about asking the doc about it again as I still have loads of it (and every other potion under the sun ha!) so it's good to know it's a no-go. I was a little worried about mentioning my MH in case of stigma but I'm so grateful you ladies have been open. Something I'm very keen to guard against is PND; hopefully when I eventually get a midwife appointment I'll be able to discuss this with her and make sure support is in place.

On a perkier note I'll definitely check out that development page Grin

Just took another CBD as there's no way I'm falling asleep again - gone from 1-2 on Weds to 2-3 today so feeling far less panicky about the blood test results as I must have risen a half decent amount!

Exceedingly grateful once again for this thread. Sorry for being such a perpetual panicker!

MynameisJune · 07/10/2017 07:40

sulky and bunny definitely see your GP re meds. There are AD’s that are safe to take in pregnancy so please don’t suffer when there is no need.

I suffer from anxiety and the first trimester is the worst for me in terms of anxiety through the pregnancy. Hormones settle down once the placenta takes over at 10ish weeks and once the first scan is over it feels a bit more real.

Mummyloves09 · 07/10/2017 08:18

Good morning ladies,
I have the same feelings about first trimester but hopefully when we pass the 12 week milestone (Which feels like forever only being 5 +4 ) And we have our first scan we will be ok.
I'm so nervous every time I spot to stomach cramps and my bloody lower back is killing me.
When I got pregnant with DD (age 7 now) I was 17 and it seemed like it went sooo smoothly and now I'm on eggshells this time as they suspected ectopic pregnancy and I'm still going through the motions with the hospital. It is very nerve wrecking. At least there is this thread where we can just chat and share our journeys.

ElizabethLemon · 07/10/2017 09:08

@Mummyloves09 my dc1 will be 7 when this one is due. I think one of the reasons I'm so anxious is because I can barely remember early pregnancy with my 1st as it feels like a lifetime ago!

DrRBannerx · 07/10/2017 09:14

Hey ladies, hope I can join?!
Been TTC number 2 for... Two years?
Had dd1 in February 2012 then a MC in 2013, then absolutely nothing (although no protection) until July 2016 and unfortunately we lost that one at 12 weeks in September, we carried on TTC and fell again in may this year but lost again in July. We fully weren't expecting a bfp so soon as it's taken me so long every other time (pcos) but here I am! So so happy and very nervous. I am not sure how many weeks I. As my periods hadn't settled down since my last MC so I'm going by my minimum date and I'd be 4w5d due 13th June. I've got a stinking cold ATM so I'm not sleeping well, and I'm trying to eat very healthily.. yuck! Taking baby aspirin and pregnicare. How is everyone?! And thank you holy for telling me about the thread x

Shutupanddance1 · 07/10/2017 11:20

Also another one taking baby aspirin and my multi vitamin!

Feeling meh today - not much of an appetite and didn't sleep well last night. Was the same with DC1 so good to know things are going pretty much the same this time round

SulkyPuddleDuck · 07/10/2017 11:25

@June - thank you! Will definitely ask my doctor. Can't wait to hopefully be at that stage and need to keep telling myself that I'm not doing myself or splat any good worrying.

@DrRBannerx Welcome and congratulations :) I'm sorry to hear you've been through such a difficult time but so pleased you're where you are now.

SulkyPuddleDuck · 07/10/2017 11:26

@shutupanddance What does baby aspirin help with? Sorry to sound ignorant!

DrRBannerx · 07/10/2017 11:38

Thanks guys, just really hoping I can stick around this time!
Baby aspirin is a low dose aspirin taken daily to help reduce the risk of MC in women with recurring miscarriages. Can help with the embryo embedding and makes sure no clots form, amongst other things. Fingers and toes crossed xx

Shutupanddance1 · 07/10/2017 11:47

DrRBannerx - has it in one!

I've PCOS and my doctor prescribed it the first time I was pregnant as I had fertility drugs so I'm just gonna repeat what I did that time as I was successful

DrRBannerx · 07/10/2017 12:00

shutupanddance1 I also have pcos, here's hoping aspirin is enough for me! Although I am being referred to a specialist because of the losses but I'm not sure when that is?!

HolyShmoly · 07/10/2017 12:10

I took baby aspirin when ttc but stopped once I got the positive. For some reason I though it was best not to take anything! I might start again.

SulkyPuddleDuck · 07/10/2017 12:29

Ahh thanks! I've not been told to take it but will ask doc next time I see anyone. Still lazing around at home but going into Durham later to do some last minute shopping before we fly on Weds - slightly worried about flying but doc said that it was absolutely safe (cue me side eyeing haha) It'll probably be good to get away and be around people who don't know though. Take my mind off things.. though how I'm going to get away with not drinking I don't know, I'm known for loving a tipple or three!

SulkyPuddleDuck · 07/10/2017 12:30

Will have to find out what the Spanish is for 'just give me tonic water with lemon' among other things 😂
