I would have things down like when he is delivered whether you want the screen dropped so you can see, whether you want to have skin to skin, whether you want him dressed/undressed, your feeding intention, whether you want music on - things like that. I realised the other day that had never had either delivered straight to me - with the cs that was understandable as they needed to check him over - but they also dressed him - I made them take his clothes off again so could have skin to skin! With ds2 can't remember what happened but he wasn;t delivered onto my tummy. I have put all these things in my birth plan this time.

You could get dh to read the scales rather than them doing it - quite nice - also if you don;t know the sex dh could get to tell you that too.

Hope that helps a bit - just my experience really!

Thanks for the nag - going to do my bag now

muminamassivetummy · 05/04/2007 09:37

Morning all!!

Ellie for you hun...I realy hope you get some reassurance today - be firm....sometimes they are all too quick to fob you off...and your brother sounds like a total sweetheart.

Lucewheel - I am having an elective and have to say have not bothered with a birth plan. I just intend to tell the consultant/midwife on the day things like

  1. that if all is ok with baby I want Phil to have it asap so I can see it

  2. would like them to hold baby up so we can discover sex ourselves

  3. Who is to cut cord (Phil still hasn't decided!!lol)

4)Would like skin to skin contact asap as mised all that last time.

Thats the only things I feel strong about TBH.

LAith - glad you enjoyed your day out and trampolining!

Emmymummy - hurray for your last day at work! Hope you get spoiled rotten x

Nellyhell - thanks for advice re coping with DS when breastfeeding etc - v useful!
Right off to the bank and then to the midwife...

catch you all later..

Oh - day has started well enough with James (lots of cuddles and "I Love You Mummy's") .....wonder how long it lasts
x

geordiemacminx · 05/04/2007 09:47

Morning ladies.

Hope everyone is well - Ellie, hope you are out soon and everything is ok!!!

Another glorious day up here!!

Quick readers poll - how are we all doing on the stretch mark front? I only had one or two on my hips until the week before last but this past fortnight they seem to be getting worse by the day... have to big patches either side of my tumy button but lower down, I know I shouldnt stress about them but its getting to a stage where I dont even want to look when I get undressed... making me very sad which I know is stupid, because in a few weeks I'm going to have a wonderful baby but I cant help it. Sorry

octo · 05/04/2007 09:49

Hello GMM

Katy44 · 05/04/2007 09:55

I only have one stretch mark
Unfortunately it covers my entire stomach!
Seriously, I got lots quite early on (before I felt I really had a bump) and they've actually got a bit better recently, seem to be fading slightly.
Although...I can only see the top of my bump, maybe I should have a look in the mirror!

geordiemacminx · 05/04/2007 10:00

I know its just stupid pregnancy hormones and such like but all I keep thinking is the dp is going to go off me and I'm doing to look hideous and he'll leave me and everything. I know its stupid, I guess I just need to get one of those long kaftan things and stop looking at myself..

Birdiebump · 05/04/2007 10:07

Morning everyone! Just come back from a bath that I almost fell asleep in and off to see my mw in about 20 mins.

GMM - try not to get too down re the stretchmarks. Not a lot to say in mitigation but people tend to get what they're gonna get IYSWIM. I get little silvery ones (but quite a lot by now esp as it is my third) whereas my friend had only one but was left with the most horrific train tracks all over her stomach ! Happily she is the kind of woman who really does view them as a badge of honour and wears bikinis quite happily as she has the figure for them.

Octo - I like the idea of getting DH to read the scales if pos - especially as this might be quite an impressive figure in our LO's case!

Does anyone know if Mossie & Kitty from March have had theirs yet?? Off to find out quick before I go to mw.

Katy44 · 05/04/2007 10:08

GMM - I genuinely don't think men are as critical of things like stretch marks as women are.

Katy44 · 05/04/2007 10:08

Or maybe my DH is jusyt blind!
Birdie, kittie hasn't I don't think, not sure about Mossie.

Birdiebump · 05/04/2007 10:14

Don't think either of them have yet - just been on to say hello - and there's at least a third one waiting there too. Gotto run now!

Mossie · 05/04/2007 10:18

Morning ladies, Birdiebump just popped over to say hello so I thought I'd cross the floor the other way! Been busy yesterday but back today being overdue as usual...

Anyone else had their babies here yet?

Stretchmarks - until about week 32 I had only one... then almost overnight my stomach and hips turned red with 'em!!

I've had to postpone all my swimwear modelling contracts, it's such a pita!

Tomorrow is my sweep & prod appointment so here's hoping it kick starts something!!!

Katy44 · 05/04/2007 10:26

Good luck Mossie!

Emmymummy · 05/04/2007 10:26

Good luck Mossie, can't believe you're still waiting. I can empathise though, as I bet I'll be saying hello to the Due in May threads come May (due 25th April, was 7 days late with dd so likely to go over in May).

GMM - stretch marks...well got them under my bump in about the last 10 days of my last pregnancy. I could only see them by looking in the mirror. Was really annoyed as I had been so smug about not getting any until then. However, they faded to silver lines very quickly after the birth so they don't look hideous and you have to look quite closely to see them. This time, have a couple of new ones sneaking up a bit higher, but they are sot of lilac coloured (very odd), rather than red. Am keeping a close eye on them, but there's nothing I can do about it. Have been religiously rubbing in oil every day, but if you're gonna get them, you're gonna get them! DH really doesn't care about them, don't think he even notices them. And as for beach-wear - tankinis are the answer!

Mumcab · 05/04/2007 10:35

Good morning everyone, sorry to gatecrash the thread however am due on Sunday and am totally fed up now as i have been having frequent and intense BH/contractions since beginning of week. This is my third and can honestly say this is a bit more than BH. However they intensify and then just stop which is a little frustratingto say the least. Anyone else had any experience of this. I am off to town to get some raspberry leaf tea which I am told speeds things up. A bit worried abouttaking it though as I am a bit of a woos when it comes to herbs and medicines, am told it tastes like crap???

Bramshott · 05/04/2007 10:39

Have given up all hope of keeping up with these threads - they move too fast! Congrats to Dooby and AngeG!! More babies today please ladies?!

All is still good here, although emotionally a bit up and down at times - usually feel fantastic in the mornings - so lucky and happy, weight falling off, Orla very good etc. Then a bit overwhelmed and teary by the evening, but expect it's all hormones! This morning is my first time by myself with 2 DDs which I was slightly dreading, but am actually really enjoying it. My mum is coming over this afternoon and then it's the bank holiday weekend so DH will be here. Tuesday is my first day having to get DD1 (first time I've typed that!) to nursery so that could be fun!

We've had some massive meltdown tantrums from DD1 which DH is convinced are nothing to do with the baby, but I can't believe are unrelated. So far she's been very good with Orla, but at times very angry with us over small things, and very easily frustrated. I think I had myself convinced that as she's 4, we wouldn't have any of this (!) Ho-hum. She's actually being very good this morning with just the three of us here - maybe it feels more 'normal'? It's a shame in some ways that it's the Easter hols as it means we have fewer of her usual activities to keep her busy.

Oh God, battery going, better post quick or I'll lose it!

hensden · 05/04/2007 10:45

Morning all,

Hope all goes well ellie, your brother sounds really great, My sisters two (of around the same age) would never be so caring or selfless, his comments on his great gramps were so touching.

GMM - I don't have any stretchmarks on my belly but my boobs and bum are a different matter, this is my third so i'm not noticing any new one's this time, on me at least DH however seems to have developed them all around his middle age spread on his back, and this has made me feel much much better, although he has never commented on mine I cannot help telling him about his

Mossie - good luck with the sweep and prod, hope it's productive

Eddas have a nice dd/dh free day, you lucky woman. We could be delivery buddies at this rate, the whole friends thing where i'm in and out and you're still there thing

Emmy hope you have a stress free last day

MIAMT - what a nice start to a day, long may it last

Can't think of anything else at the moment take care all

Pesha · 05/04/2007 10:49

Mumcab - try the tablets instead

geordiemacminx · 05/04/2007 10:52

Thanks ladies!!!

Mumcab - I got the rasberry tablets as I knew I wouldnt be able to stomach the tea, they dont have any taste, but to be honest I am thinking about taking them back and throwing them at the stupid hippy dippy herbal man as they are doing absolutely no good whatsoever... I have the 900mg ones that are super strength, talking morning and night for the past 10 days and not even so much as a proper BH... Think they are just another thing that a bloke thought up to sell to hormonally unstable desparate pregnant ladies.. perhaps like miracle stretch mark cream

Bramshott - all seems well with you - very of you having your little one!!!

Good luck mossie!!

CaptainDippy · 05/04/2007 11:00

Good morning - It has taken me til now to get DD2 off for morning nap - not good, but hoping it'll will improve and not get worse - Hoping it is jut a one off .... It is frustrating, but I am trying to remain very calm and collected .....

Pesha · 05/04/2007 11:01

I have strtetch marks right tothe top of my bump from first pg but havent got any more since, they are looking abit more obvious at mothough with tummy stretched so much. But dp is not dd's dad so I met him post stretch marks and it didnt put him off at all!

I also had a dream about ellie last night! Cant remember what it was though. DS kept waking up and ended up in my bed again, everytime he woke me up it took forever for me to get back to sleep and although kids were quite happily playing this morning and I could have had a nice lie in my hips just hurt too much so I had to get up. Oh and I can no longer breathe!! Everything makes me breathless and think I keep getting painlss BH (as well as the painful ones!) that make me breathless too. He's so big!!!

Sorry thats my moaning over, for now!

to all who want them

We need more babies!!

CaptainDippy · 05/04/2007 11:04

Awwwwww Ellie - Just looked at the new pics - Bless Matthew and his great gramps! So lovely. I have some lovely pics of DH's lovely grandma who died just over a year ago and tiny little DD2 in hospital. Unfortunately, everytime I try and add new pics to my profile, it crashes. Bum. Still haven't shown you all that bloomin' Fire engine Birthday Cake!!!

Love the one of Matthew and Skott too - Bless Matthew, bit scary, eh!!?
