Hello all, kicking off another thread for the TTC1 crew... check in below if you please!

I'll start - Skip here, got my BFP somewhere around TTC1 thread 27...? Or 28. I'm currently 29, and EDD was 30th August - come on babyskip!!

Oh @Starmist I'm sorry to hear that. My wound is not dressed, it's supposed to be getting air. In reality I walk around with a maternity pad wedged in the front of my pants to catch the fluid leaking. Sorry, that should come with TMI warning. Honestly if DH ever wants to sleep with me again I will be so surprised! We just had an hour of sleep lying down, in bed! The first this week! Cosleeping it's going to be for as long as it takes. Yes I've spoken extensively to DH and he's been amazing, I'm just scared of PND!

OP posts:
Starmist · 28/09/2017 02:12

Skip hmmm it makes sense if it's infected it should be open to the air to heal... hope it's right the doctor has put a dressing on mine. Sounds like yours is leaking a lot more so perhaps that's the difference... Does yours feel sore? I just can't get comfortable.
Glad your DH is supportive. Mine is as well although sometimes I find it hard to tell him everything as I feel like I'm moaning. I can understand what you mean about being worried about PND but it's important to get support if you need it. Is your health visitor nice? Can you talk to her at your appointment about how you're feeling?

FXSkip · 28/09/2017 10:19

Yea to be honest the doctor didn't say anything about dressing it, keeping it clean, just gave me prescription and sent me on my way. The amount it's leaking is horrible! How are you feeding? Mine is heaps less sore now, I can get up from lying down just not while holding baby. I'm feeling pretty good today, cosleeping went so well last night, I am going to give it a week and then try and get her to move, slowly, into cot. I will mention how I was feeling to the health visitor but it is clearly closely linked to sleep deprivation! How is everyone else doing? Xx

OP posts:
kavanaughkj · 29/09/2017 05:28

Oh Skip, you poor thing - I feel for you. My c-section scar got slightly infected too - not massively badly but it was uncomfortable, once the dressing was removed. I slathered it in antiseptic cream and kept it washed, which seemed to do the trick, but yours sounds worse than mine was - I'd want the nurse to help out or something.

Don't judge yourself for co-sleeping. I had to resort to it in the early days as it was that or no sleep at all. I don't regret it as C would have had a crazy lady for a mother otherwise. And with both you and Starmist - breastfeeding is HARD. I found it so difficult to begin with and had to top up with formula as C was just not sleeping because she was so hungry. She was 8% down from her birth weight just on BFing when she should have been back up to her birth weight - topping her up with formula turned her around. It's taken until now to be able to feed her about 95% on breastmilk though I do give her formula if she drains me dry or finishes my supply of expressed milk, and I refuse to feel guilty about it. My baby is satiated and that's what's important.

Doing well here for the most part - I have MIL staying with us who has been an angel clearing up after us for the last 2 weeks. She's had some grousy periods - 2 days ago was hell on earth - but yesterday she was a delight and she's been sleeping really well at nights - only waking a couple of times for a feed. I'm up to express now, a bit late - normally I do it between 12 am and 4am, but she's let me sleep all this time which has been lovely. I'm under no illusions it'll be like this every night but it is nice when it happens. :)

It's tough but rewarding. I'm still speaking to DH which is a minor triumph! It feels like we're over the hardest parts of the early days though she still has days where she constantly whines/cries for something, but I feel like I'm getting better able to deduce what it is she needs and to do it before she completely loses her shit.

Hope all of you are doing well, including the still pg crew!

Scandalicity · 29/09/2017 17:02

Sorry for being AWOL this week!! Scan went really well on Monday, baby fine, all measurements normal & managed to stay team vanilla despite major temptation once we got in there! 20 weeks to go! Got back to work on Monday afternoon & it's been horrendous ever since!! TGIF is all I can say!

So sorry you're still having a tough time skip! As others have said, don't be too hard on yourself, do what you need to do! Hope things start improving for you soon, good luck with the moving into the cot!!

Hope you're doing ok too starmist & your wound is starting to heal better Smile

Hope all the thread babies are doing good too Star

Do we know who is up next? We must be due another baby soon Grin

MissyJones80s · 30/09/2017 09:36

Scandalicity glad your scan went well and well done on sticking to your guns on n T finding out...I found that bit so hard! Still keep referring to baby in the masculine so convinced it's a boy haha!!! I know what you mean about work I've had one of hose weeks as well not sure how I'm going to get everything sorted before I go off eek

I'm not sure who's up next...I'm not until 24 Jan

MissyJones80s · 30/09/2017 09:40

skip and starmist sorry you both have sore and infected scars I hope they start to heal up soon that alone must be making you feel grotty then add to that the sleep deprivation and having a beautiful new life to look after no wonder you feel under it! I'm with everyone else though do discuss feelings with HV to make sure you're getting all support you need. Much love x

glitteryvibes · 04/10/2017 19:49

Do we have a gap now until the November December January boom?

I’m 29 weeks now. Main issue is night cramp but also sickness has made a slight return but is actually only mornings at present.

Hope everyone is doing ok. Hope the infected wounds are clearing up ok. Not sure about people as I deal in pets but wounds are wounds and if infected we usually dress with something like medical grade Manuka honey and an absorbent dressing changed daily to ensure discharge doesn’t stay in contact with the wound. That stuff is great at making sure no more bacteria grow in the wound.

MissyJones80s · 04/10/2017 21:51

glittery I think you are right it’s seems like there is a gap now. My due date is 24 Jan and im 24 weeks today. SO are you up next or is there anyone else in between?

Went to visit nursery today to get name on waiting list. Quite scary thinking I will be leaving the little one there a couple of days a week this time next year all being well!

Mrsbluebell17 · 04/10/2017 22:38

Hey everyone! I’m 30 nearly 31 weeks now so due early/mid December. Not sure who is next up!

How are you all doing?

Hope those with sore wounds are getting better quickly Flowers

Starmist · 05/10/2017 08:26

Hey everyone hope you're all ok.

Glittery sorry to hear your sickness had returned, hope it's not around for long. I used to get cramp in my calves a lot at night, it would make me jump out of bed.

My wound was checked on Tuesday, it's still open & weeping so she tried dressing it with silver (last time it was dressed with inodine). It's been feeling a lot better so I really hope that when I go back tomorrow it's healed up.

D is just over 4 weeks old now. The time has flown by & he's changed so much already. Find the nights the hardest as it's difficult when he won't settle & you're so tired & just want to sleep. He's so worth it though, love him to bits. Snuggles on the sofa watching telly are my favourite thing, we've been catching up on Victoria together Smile

Carley27 · 05/10/2017 09:23

Hope the c section wounds are healing nicely - sounds promising that your wound has been feeling better starmist, hopefully the silver does the trick!

Kav I read that as your MIL has been having grousy periods Grin good to hear you've been getting some sleep and things are going well!

Congrats on the scan scandal! And well done for sticking to team vanilla - you must have more willpower than me!

I'm 29 weeks as well so due v close to glittery :)

Miranda234 · 05/10/2017 17:03

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing ok 😊

Glad all was well with the scan scandal

Haha missy I was convinced I was having a girl and turned out to be right so you never know!

glittery I get cramp too, seems to be in my calves and in the night which is horrible and I found it hard to sleep properly for a few nights as I was worried each time I stretched i would get cramp.

Hope you're wound has healed now starmist, can't believe it's been over 4 weeks already!

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow, due 24th November but I'm not sure I'm next? Bit scary if I am! We start our NCT classes next week which I'm looking forward to. Still feel like we have lots to buy, we're pram shopping this weekend, does anyone have any recommendations? I had no idea how expensive they could be!
My bump is starting to feel heavy now, I've had quite a lot of period type cramping this week and my backs starting to hurt but it seems to come and go so hoping it's all normal!

Hope everyone's had a good day 😊

FXSkip · 06/10/2017 04:17

@Miranda234 you could well be next! All the cramps seems normal, I was told that's just how some women experience braxton hicks but if you are in any way concerned see your midwife.

Must all be getting pretty real now (if it wasn't already!) I remember starting my antenatal classes and feeling like a fraud - now we are all meeting up with our babies!

So my LO is 4 weeks old this weekend, and I have to say - or rather I've said a few times now - the last 4 weeks has been fairly horrendous. BUT my wound has healed, breastfeeding is going well and we are getting about 6/7 hours sleep a night (Albeit cosleeping) she's starting to engage more and make faces & noises and we are able to get out and about - things are definitely improving!! Apparently it does get better after all.

I hope every one else is well and happy. We haven't had a new grad for aaaages - are they going someplace else I wonder?! Xx

OP posts:
Starmist · 06/10/2017 07:36

Miranda we have the Mamas & Papas Ocarro & we love it. Best thing to do is get trying a few different travel systems out in the shops to get an idea of what you want.

Skip really pleased to hear you're doing well & your wound has healed up.

kavanaughkj · 15/10/2017 02:54

Heya ladies - up pumping in the middle of the night and thought I'd check in. It's been shamefully long since the last time I did - babies have a way of being intense time-sucks!

@FXSkip - hoping your positive experiences the last time you posted have continued and things are still going well. Re your wondering about new grads - I've been following the old thread and they relocated to Infertility as so many of the ladies there had been there for a long time :( I still hold out hope we'll see them all here eventually but the reason we've not had any new grads is because there haven't been any from that thread, which properly sucks. I understand why they moved - after such a long period trying the usual peppy Conception thread posts and people getting pregnant in 2 cycles or less must get pretty soul-destroying ... I'd wanted to go in and cheer them on but as a graduate I didn't want to risk rubbing salt into the wound.

Miranda, I hope the cramps were just Braxton Hicks and little one is staying put for now!

Carly - ha, yes, when I read back what I posted I realised it made it sound like the MIL was a pain - actually she was a complete angel. She's left now to go back to her home and I miss her. :( I'm so lucky to get on so well with her but due to where she lives I can't see her more than once a year anyway (if that).

Am getting a cold and I think it's affecting my milk supply. I'm deathly afraid little miss will catch it - she's not 3 months yet and I'm not sure she'd be able to breathe properly if her nose is bunged up. She's been very irritable these last couple of days and been pawing at her nose, but has been feeding fine at least - I just don't want her to have to go through this.

Hope everybody here is getting on well, whether waiting for a new arrival or caring for one! all the best to you all. Flowers

Mileymoocow · 20/10/2017 22:03

Just checking in ladies! Hope it's ok.

I was one of the original grads from way back when, and have 13 month old H who is the absolute love of my life. I have just today found out I'm pregnant with #2 and have decided to make a come back to mn because I had a hideous pregnancy last time and having somewhere to offload was cathartic!

Tonks87 · 21/10/2017 16:56

Hi ladies, I’m not sure if you remember me but I was on this thread a few months ago but dropped off it/Mumsnet shortly after my 20 week scan. I’m now 38 weeks (I have no idea where the time has gone!) and due to be induced next weekend due to having gestational diabetes. It feels surreal that I’ll have a baby boy in a week or so (and unbelievably scary!).

Congratulations to all the new mummies since I last posted, I hope you’re all getting on ok.

kavanaughkj · 21/10/2017 18:10

Hey :) congratulations Miley - I know without MN I would have gone a bit bonkers so it's lovely to see you here. Hope the 2nd pregnancy is kinder to you than the first one was - what was the issue then?

Good luck Tonks! I had the same issue and was booked in for an induction - my waters ended up breaking the night before the induction :) by the time I'd hit 38 weeks I was sooo done with being pregnant and I imagine you might feel the same too. Life will never be the same again!

Coraline unfortunately did get my cold :( thankfully it wasn't a very bad one but for any soon to be mums out there, I'd heartily recommend buying the combo of Sterimar Nasal Spray and a Nosefrida nasal aspirator - without them she'd never have been able to breathe and they really did make a huge difference.

All good here. DH has taken her out for an hour or so to give me a little time to myself so I'm planning on pulling out the sewing machine I just got donated and seeing if I can get it to work!

Miranda234 · 21/10/2017 22:05

Congratulations miley, hope this pregnancy is better for you 😊

Oh wow tonks not long to go for you! How're you feeling about it all?

Sorry to hear Coraline got your cold kav, I guess there's not much you can do to stop them from catching colds from us, thanks for the recommendations though and hope you enjoyed the hour to yourself 😊

I'm still having quite painful cramping which I'm guessing must be braxton hicks, can be really uncomfortable though! I'm 35 weeks now so not too much longer left.

Hope everyone is well 😊

Mileymoocow · 22/10/2017 21:28

Thanks kav! I had severe HG and was hospitalised 5 times. I was about 30 weeks before it fully went away, then had horrible heartburn, back ache and just general pregnancy issues! I had my little boy at 36 weeks so am slightly nervous I go early again this time. He was 6lb 6.5oz and healthy as could be, other than mild jaundice, so luckily did him no harm!

And thanks miranda! Not long, now. Top tip - make sure you know how tobuseyour car seat. That was probably one of the most embarrassing moments of my life having to ask our midwife how to strap him in Grin
For colds I fully recommend Calpol plug ins and snufflebabe products!

Carley27 · 26/10/2017 15:32

Hi all, hope you're all well.

Good luck for the weekend Tonks! Hope it goes well and look forward to hearing about the arrival of your baby boy :)

Congratulations miley! Sounds like you had a tough pregnancy first time round, hope this one is kinder to you! Are you feeling ok at the moment?

Not long to go Miranda - are you on mat leave now? How did pram shopping go? We went with the Silver Cross Pioneer (which my cat claimed the day we set it up. I've had to hide it in the spare room with a blanket over it!).

I'm 32+1 now - feeling a mixture of excitement and panic that I'm not ready! Had our second growth scan this week, baby's estimated weight is 3lb 14 :) all looking fine so hopefully the consultant will be happy when I see him next.

OverinaFlash · 30/10/2017 11:32

Hello ladies (name changed but it's Flash, for anyone who remembers me). The TTC 1 thread has moved to Infertility now, and got a few gearing up for IVF/IUI in the next couple of months, plus investigations etc. Hope pregnancy is treating you all well/motherhood is lovely!

Fingers crossed some of us will get to join you soon before all of you have had your babies!

Miley I can't believe you are on number 2!

Hope you don't mind me popping on. Wishing you all well!

Miranda234 · 30/10/2017 18:21

Hi flash, it's lovely to hear from you, I'm still following all your journeys on the other thread and wishing you all onto this one, have everything crossed for you all with the challenges you're now facing, I'm sure there will be lots of BFPs coming up, you're certainly overdue some! Xx

Was thinking of you at the weekend tonks, hope you are recovering well and enjoying your newborn cuddles 😊

Glad all was well with the growth scans carley 😊 We went for a mothercare own brand pram which I love, ours is hidden away from the cat too!! No I'm not on mat leave yet but I work for our family business so can be flexible with my hours if I need to which is a great help!

Thanks for the tip miley, I need to know how to fix it in the car too!

Hope everyone is doing well 😊

Scandalicity · 14/11/2017 07:46

Hello ladies 👋🏻

Embarrassingly updating as I have been SO SO bad at Mumsnet over the last few weeks - we seem to hit 20 weeks, work exploded so the amount of overtime I’ve had to do has been shocking & then been spending the last 5-6 weekends out all weekend actually buying things for the baby!!

Think we have got there with most things & relieved I won’t have to mix much baby shopping in with Christmas shopping (how did it get to 6 weeks before Christmas so fast??!!)

Really really hope everyone is well??

Hoping to be able to keep up a bit more now I have said enough is enough at work and side stepped to something more calmer for my last 11 weeks Grin
