Me too Mummyme87 mine is at 9am! Let's check in later!!!

WLMcI · 08/09/2017 07:51

Congrats on the good news @Rosehyde! And to everyone else on the good scans :) Good luck for yours today @Mummyme87 and @MissyJones80

@Owl and anyone looking for gender neutral stuff, I've found M&S baby clothes have a good selection (online at least), and I'm pretty sure they tend to be good quality. They have the usual white/cream/yellow, but also multipacks in rainbow colours. 7 patterned long sleeve babygrows for £12 isn't pricey either!

@Waitingonasmile I'm really starting to suffer with SPD/pelvic girdle pain too. I'm 24 weeks but have had it since 20, mildly, but now it's so bad I can't do my walks at all. If I get through a day of work on my feet I'm grateful! I rang my GP and asked for a referral, as the MW had shrugged it off at my last appointment (21 weeks) and I don't have another MW appointment until 26 weeks. GP was very accommodating, rang me back and said she would refer me to the specialist physio and I could take paracetamol without any risk if the pain was bad.

MissyJones80s · 08/09/2017 10:54

Scan went well, so relieved and so happy to see baby again. Was so tempted to find out if boy or girl but didn't, even though they asked twice!!! Weird to think they probably know. So team yellow all the way here. Measurements fine, big head big belly and little legs hehe. Just so relieved. Oh and I'm breaking the run of anteriors with a posterior placenta.

Waitingonasmile · 08/09/2017 11:55

Brilliant news missyjones ! Always such a relief when scan is ok.

MLMcl. The midwife offered to refer me last time with my son but I just left it. I just didn't move much apart from work for the rest of my pregnancy. Blush This time I'll definitely pursue it because is a nightmare looking after a 2 year old.

MegRam · 08/09/2017 12:31

To all those suffering with SPD/PGP - I've been seeing a pregnancy specialist chiropractor for about 4 weeks now and the difference is AMAZING. She determined that my pelvis is rotated to the right, and I'n carrying a lot of extra weight on my left side to accommodate - I've had several adjustments now and I am so much more comfortable.

I really, really recommend it if you don't want to go down the physio route, which I didn't. x

asafemooring · 08/09/2017 14:30

@shaaan1329 that is outrageous! What a total scumbag your boss is. I'm a lawyer (not an employment lawyer but there is some crossover) and I know it is very difficult to dismiss a pregnant woman, particularly when the reason you were late to your station was because you were waiting to use the loo and that is medically related to pregnancy. There is no way that qualifies as gross misconduct that would justify an immediate sacking, absolutely no way. They would have to show a persistent pattern of poor performance, and there should be written warnings and a disciplinary hearing and all sorts of things before it would get to the stage of sacking someone.

This website has some really useful info: www.maternityaction.org.uk/advice-2/mums-dads-scenarios/pregnant/pregnancy-discrimination/ and I'm sure the Citizen's Advice will be able to help. Is there an HR department or a union at your work?

Unfortunately I think you're only entitled to maternity pay if you are working for your employer during your 25th week of pregnancy and have worked for them continuously for six months up to that point. However, if they dismiss you and you're reinstated, then they do have to pay it, so it's really important for you to get in touch with Citizen's Advice asap. The Government website says:

Reinstatement after dismissal

If your employee didn’t work for you during the relevant period because you dismissed them, they’re entitled to SMP as if they hadn’t been dismissed, if:

  • they’re reinstated because an employment tribunal decides that you dismissed them unfairly
  • you reinstate them as a result of a statutory grievance procedure.

This has made me so angry on your behalf! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this on top of everything else, it's just not right.

Mummyme87 · 08/09/2017 16:10

Anomaly scan went well and we have a boy 💙 With an anterior placenta as suspected.
Appears normal and healthy, long cervix and very active baby

shaaan1329 · 08/09/2017 16:43

@asafemooring thank you so much for all the info! I will definitely be going into citizens advice Monday morning for when they open to see where I stand.. I don't even have a contract of employment, no HR, no Union, absolutely nothing. I should have done so wing years ago, we don't get sick or holiday pay, no allowed breaks within the time periods given by law, the only people who get breaks are those who smoke, I have worked every consecutive day for the last 32 days up until the day I got dismissed. Time I started growing a back bone now I've got a baby to provide for! So thank you giving me the required ammunition! I will keep you updated :)

Pregnancy wise, still feeling very lucky but I've noticed today I've been for triple the amount of wees! Hoping it's just baby using bladder as a trampoline and not the start of a uti!

Owl1011 · 08/09/2017 17:03

@WLMcI thanks for the advice Smile My local M&S is quite small so didn't have a great selection, will check check online!

Also have no idea how much of what size to buy, DH was a very long baby according to MIL and our baby's legs were long on the scan so doubt he/she will fit into newborn clothes for very long!

Lovely to hear about all these scans as well! Grin

Waitingonasmile · 08/09/2017 17:30

Glad scan went well mummyme! Great news.

Shaaan1329 that sounds bloody awful I hope you get it sorted. Last thing you need while pregnant.

Owl1012 I'm going to wait until after growth scans to buy anything. Don't want to end up with stuff that's too little.

Briggs18 · 08/09/2017 17:40

Hi everyone just to let you's all know I'm on team blue💙😊

Ruthcarr1990 · 08/09/2017 18:13

So today I've come home to all these appointments!!! Starting to become real now that the end is soon approaching xxx

January Babies #5 - Are we 'glowing' yet?!
Sybarite85 · 08/09/2017 19:25

@shaaan1329 that sounds v stressful and totally out of order. Best of luck getting it sorted with the great advice above. Makes me feel v lucky to be in the public sector where despite many other problems at least they don't try and mess with employment law, maternity rights etc.

Re the ?UTI, I've intermittently had vague symptoms like the beginning of one every few days for last couple of weeks. Frequency and bladder discomfort without any stinging etc and only ever for a few hours. Pretty convinced it's baby's position now although of course if it were more persistent would get a sample dipped and do the usual!

Rosehyd2 · 08/09/2017 19:58

Has anyone any idea of how much to buy? I won't be buying outfits as such, just lots of vests and baby grows and sleepsuits but no idea how many we need!

ndo4000 · 08/09/2017 20:02

Think of me tomorrow ladies - I'm walking 28km for charity!!! Was meant to be doing 100km, but then found out I was pregnant!

Slightly concerned about the state my pelvis will be in by the end!!! Confused

Waitingonasmile · 08/09/2017 20:08

Rosehyde2. Babygrows, bibs, muslins and sleepsuits you can't have too many of. Between sick, nappy explosions and milk leakage I remember changing DS loads.

Ndo4000 so much respect for you!!!! That's an amazing thing to do. I can't even walk up the stairs without moaning tonight.Blush

Rosehyd2 · 08/09/2017 20:29

@ndo4000 oh wow! Good luck!!! Make sure you do nothing but rest Sunday. Yikes, you're brave.
@Waitingonasmile Thanks! Do you think say ten of each would be good?

Fattycowagain · 08/09/2017 21:06

I haven't been on here for threads! Sorry about that! How is everyone?

millsbynight · 08/09/2017 21:27

Rose I'm making a list but it will be something like 6 long-sleeve vests (no point in getting short sleeve as it's winter) in Newborn size and another 9 in 0-3 months size. And then probably the same again for sleep suits/babygrows. Plus a snow suit for walks out in the pram in the dead of winter. That's pretty much all I'm going to have her in for the first few months.

Your washing machine will be on all the time! Also it's a good idea not to invest in 'outfits' for newborns. They'll wear it once, shit or be sick on it (or both), and then the next time you put it on you'll find they've outgrown it!

OP posts:
millsbynight · 08/09/2017 21:27

Good luck ndo!!

OP posts:
ndo4000 · 08/09/2017 21:32

Thanks @millsbynight @Rosehyd2 @Waitingonasmile ! I'll check in tomorrow and let you know if me and my pelvis survive!!!

Waitingonasmile · 08/09/2017 21:35

To save endless washing I would get even more. Other people might say that's over the top though. DS was such a sicky baby everything got covered.

I'm not going to buy anything until after growth scan incase babies measuring big and too big for the new baby sizes. DS was only 4lb 6, so I've not idea what size a full term baby is likely to be for me.

ForumUsername · 08/09/2017 23:44

I've decided to skip newborn size
Will buy 15 vests and baby grows and 5 light/medium cardigans and hats in 1month size

Also about 5 blankets and a couple of heavier cardigans, hats and mittens
Will also have a small amount of 0-3month bits as a just in case

My reasoning is that if baby does look small closer to due date I can get some newborn then
Doubt they'll be too big for 1 month for a few weeks at least so can order more 0-3 when home if needed.

Was also going to skip a pram suit as people have said they rarely used them as it was easier to layer vest, baby grow, cardigans, hats and blankets. You can peel off layers if you go in and out of shops/cafes and not worry about waking baby or them over heating
Plus you can't use it in a car seat either.

Owl1011 · 09/09/2017 07:15

These lists are all really useful! I feel clueless Shock Pregnancy insomnia and google have helped me develop a shopping list - any advice on what is/isn't essential or anything I've missed would be appreciated! We won't be buying much for a couple of months mainly due to lots of redecorating in the house but needing to feel prepared with a list at least Grin

hodgeheg92 · 09/09/2017 09:16

@Owl1011 That looks like everything I've got on my list! Except I've added a sleepyhead to mine. I was debating whether to get one because of the expense but a co-worker has been waxing lyrical about hers so I think I'll get one or ask parents/in-laws for one as their gift.

This sounds really daft but what do you wash a baby with? Is there baby soap? I know there's Johnsons but I'd read something negative about them somewhere (can't what though!)
