Disinterested that’s so kind of you! We too had a candle lit and felt sad for a while, but then I was brought back down to earth when I think my HG for this pregnancy started!
Urgh feel very rough but kind of happy too if that makes sense :)
7 weeks this week.....
Will continue to lurk :) x

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 16/10/2017 00:20

Hi. Not sure if you guys remember me, but some of you said on the FB group to come back and let you know if I'm pregnant again. It's been a few months now but whilst it's still super early (only found out days ago), I thought I'd keep my promise :) Hope you're all doing okay, can't believe some of you are not far from the end really.

Mummyme87 · 16/10/2017 07:29

disonterested on they starting you on treatment for OC? (Urso?)

27weeks today and struggling!! Ordered a pelvic belt online last night, should arrive today. Had to call in sick for work yesterday because I’m really struggling with the being on my feet all day.
I have a consultant appt today to review my cardiac investigations and blood tests

Waitingonasmile · 16/10/2017 09:52

Congratulations @UnicornsandRainbows1

28 weeks tomorrow!!! Happy to finally be 3rd trimester. Second trimester lasted forever and I definitely had no glowing or extra energy.

We are all so close to the end now.. I've decided not to go for elcs and try for vbac. Is anyone else in the same position? If I don't go into labour by 12th Jan (very unlikely) they'll give me a section anyway so not much longer to wait either way.

ChocoMunchi · 16/10/2017 10:26

Hi All

28+2 today and last few days have been feeling that pressure very low down when babies head engages sharp pains and pressure with some Braxton Hicks.
Not worried as I know it’s a normal feeling but thinking 28 weeks is a little early, don’t remember it being this early in my last pregnancies, although this is my 4th.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Mummyme87 · 16/10/2017 10:54

waitingonasmile I’m going for VBAC aswell. I’m due 15th jan, planning on induction at 40+4 if not laboured. Don’t want to wait much longer due to an infection I had last time which we felt developed as the pregnancy progressed. How far did you get last time?

Hotpinkangel19 · 16/10/2017 11:00

When is everyone starting maternity leave? I’m currently 28 weeks with PGP, I’m a nursery nurse so not a sitting job, I’m thinking 34 weeks - is that lazy? DC2 came at 38 weeks so would like some time to rest and get the house sorted before baby arrives x

ChocoMunchi · 16/10/2017 11:05

@Hotpinkangel19 I’m planning on taking AL from about 17/24th November which would be about 33 weeks ish. I’m moving house so want some time to get settled. Already finding it hard working full-time with 3 other children at home and a partner who works away M-F.

Hotpinkangel19 · 16/10/2017 11:11

@ChocoMunchi Ah, we are similar then! My DH works away during the week too, plus I have 3 other children also. I just wanted to check that I wasn’t leaving too early! X

ChocoMunchi · 16/10/2017 11:15

@Hotpinkangel19 it’ll be nice to have a bit of time off before baby arrive especially with it being over xmas as well. Really feel like I need a few weeks just to be settled so that xmas and babies arrival doesn’t feel rushed and hectic. Definitely not too early.

I’m not working as a NN now but that was my background so know how busy the job can be none stop all day.

Isabeau1980 · 16/10/2017 11:25

Officially I'm starting maternity leave on 01 January making me 38+3.

With leftover holidays and the fact that I'm going to take 2 days unpaid leave in order to finish on a Friday instead of midweek, I'm finishing on 08 December making me 35+0.

It will give me the time to get Christmas ready and have some lovely, snuggly time with my 2 year old.

Waitingonasmile · 16/10/2017 11:33

Mummyme87 I had emcs at 35 weeks (preeclampsia) so consultant said it'll just be like a first birth/labour. I know this means I probably won't labour and will end up with CS anyway but I want to at least try. Did you go into labour on your own last time?

I'm stopping on 7th December at 35 weeks and can't wait now. Definitely not lazy stopping early and everyone copes differently. I went straight from work to hospital and didn't leave until DS was born, so not taking that chance again!!

Mummyme87 · 16/10/2017 11:56

I’m leaving at 35weeks, last shift will be 9th December. I work as a midwifery sister on delivery suite so do long shifts running around. Can’t wait to finish

waiting I was induced last time at 41+1 for reduced movements and decelerations on CTG and got to 9cm last time

MummyM33 · 16/10/2017 12:33

Just a quick question, we've nearly finished buying all the bits we wanted for baby.
One of the last things on my list is a Sleepyhead.
With all the latest news reports I'm unsure what to do. Just spoke to my mum and she said I shouldn't buy one even though sleepyhead have continued to sell stating they are not dangerous.
Is anyone else struggling to decide on this?

Mummyme87 · 16/10/2017 14:49

I have thought about it and still going for it. It seems to be the sleep positioners which strap baby in or lift legs or head up. If they are on their back flat on the sleepy head firm mattress I can’t see an issue

AmandaP86x · 16/10/2017 16:15

I’m finishing up at 36 weeks work at staff nurse in gynaecology xxx

Sybarite85 · 16/10/2017 16:19

@MummyM33 I had bought a sleepyhead (on a 20% offer) but returned last week after all the stuff in the media. It does seem to be unclear whether they are included in the warning and the thing that swung it for me was that Lullaby Trust have refused to exclude them from their blanket statement, although they haven't named them specifically in the way they have some of the more classic positioners.

Anyway, decided I just wouldn't be able to switch off and not worry about it. A couple of friends with 2-3 month olds are carrying on using them as found withdrawing them too hard but I'm just going to go with 'what it doesn't have it can't miss' and see how it goes. I'm part of a massive Facebook group for medical mums where there's been a lot of discussion with pros and cons and there's definitely no right answer so I guess we each just have to go with our gut instinct.

That said, can totally see myself buying one full price in desperation in late January when the 'safer than me falling asleep holding them' argument becomes more persuasive!! Still, in the meantime have spent the refunded cash stocking up on essentials like muslins, sleepsuits etc.

Sybarite85 · 16/10/2017 16:23

@Hotpinkangel19 finish work at 36 weeks although using annual leave over Christmas/NY so mat leave will officially start at 38+4. Work in hospital covering a lot of emergencies out of hours so quite physically demanding and coming off night shifts at 32 weeks. No other children to look after though and been feeling well so far so hopefully should manage!

Disinterested · 16/10/2017 16:37

I'm back from the hospital and had another blood test and my flu jab. I feel a bit of a pin cushion at the moment! Don't really know that much more yet but I have a growth scan and liver scan (and another blood test) on Thursday morning.

I actually had a bit of a horrible experience, to be honest. I'd been booked to see the consultant and he was very pushy about a clinical trial that they need women like me with OC to participate in. Basically, 50% of women in the trial get the URSO drug and the other 50% get a placebo. I kindly told him that, whilst I understand these trials are important, I really just want to be treated and don't want to risk taking the placebo. He went from very nice to quite nasty in seconds and kept trying to change my mind - free will my arse. After realising I wouldn't change my mind he told the midwife to put me under another consultant, reluctantly wrote me out a prescription for URSO and left.

It's left me feeling like a horrible person for not wanting to help :(. But this is my first baby and I want to make sure I am being proactive. :(

Onwards and upwards. I have a liver and growth scan and another blood test on Thursday so should know more then. Then I will continue to be monitored weekly and be induced between 35 and 38 weeks, depending on my bile levels.

Mummyme87 · 16/10/2017 16:42

disinterested glad you got the urso. I would have aswell. I have heard of this trial and along with opsome other trials I don't agree with it.

I'm back from consultant aswell. I need to be seen in arrhythmia clinic and by anaesthetist to see if I need cardiac monitoring in labour. I have a 2nd degree heart block found on 24hr ecg a few weeks back.. albeit mild form, so all extra spots are precautionary

ForumUsername · 16/10/2017 16:51

I’m starting maternity leave on Jan 1st (EDD 20th)
I’ll be 37 weeks and can’t wait
Although my job is mainly office based, I work in high end events so it’ll be very busy leading up to Christmas
I’ve my replacement starting mid Nov so hoping I can take a back seat from early Dec

@Disinterested fair play for sticking to your guns, very bad of the consultant to try to pressure you

Maybebaby2 · 16/10/2017 16:57

Catching up!

Congratulations on your wedding @Disinterested Sorry about your colestitus diagnosis and your experience today, but you definitely did the right thing sticking to what you wanted and not being swayed. It's your body and your baby and you get to make those kind of imprtant decisions for yourself so please don't feel bad about it. P.s did you get to see Blade Runner, I think you mentioned you were going? Well funny story for you, we went to see it on the weekend, it was good but I had to take my shoes and socks off because my feet were so hot and uncomfortable. Really not great sitting in cinema barefoot trying to not touch the floor haha! If I go again I'll remember to wear sandals!

Glad to hear we're not the only ones not decorating nursery yet. Too many other things to sort out at the moment and as baby will be in our room till summer we decided to take the pressure off and decorate her room closer to the time.

I'm officially starting mat leave 7 Jan, I'll be 39+3 but will of had two weeks off for Christmas. Work actually finishes 21st Dec so I'll be 37 weeks. Hoping to get through till then but my job is quite physical. I'm in a school foundation unit we have 60 kids aged 3-5 years so it's pretty tiring. But I am only part time and don't have young children at home so I do get some time to relax!

@UnicornsandRainbows1 congratulations! So lovely to hear your good news!

Re the sleepy head I was going to get one but have decided not to, I might be overly cautious buy I keep thinking that I didn't have anything like that to help with ds when he was a baby and he slept ok so I'll do without this time too. Saying that I'm still confused if it's safe to put a blanket on baby or not, I keep reading conflicting things. Anyone know if it's a cellular blanket is it ok?

SpringChicken26 · 16/10/2017 18:21

Definitely leaving my mat leave late I am taking a weeks annual leave from 38+2(Xmas eve) and then official maternity from 39+2. I have been on restricted duties since I found out I was pregnant and will be working reduced hours until due date hopefully from my next risk assessment ! I’m only taking 6 months mat leave and 3 weeks leave tagged on the end as planning on coming back part time but don’t want to waste time at home waiting around for baby to arrive ! Hopefully I’ll still be able to waddle around work by then but feeling jealous of all you guys who will be finishing work soon !

LoobysMummy14 · 16/10/2017 18:25

Hi Everyone!
So update from my 20 week scan back in August (sorry a bit late in getting back on here) found out the gender of our baby, Team Blue here we come!!
I go on ML on the 4th Jan (39+1) officially but because of the Nursery Half Term I will actually finish on the 20th December (37weeks)

Ruthcarr1990 · 16/10/2017 19:25

Anyone else had their flu and whooping cough? I had mine today feel like poo now!!! Xxx
