Is anyone else worried about lack of movement yet? It's from 28 weeks we track isn't it? (I'm 26 today)

I think I felt one nudge earlier today but nothing since. I do have a very achey side below my right rib so perhaps baby is in a funny position? It feels like all baby's weight is on that side and I've got the occasional feeling throughout the day like i've got a stitch.

Not sure if I should be worried or not (I am a bit). Baby hasn't been super active to date but definitely have had days with lots of movement, and it's been very very quiet today.

klaw87 · 14/10/2017 22:03

It depends @Rosehyd2, if I have a busy day where I am at work or out and about a lot then I don't feel much at all until I've been relaxed for a couple of hours, I do find eating and drinking cold drinks gets him moving quite a bit so sometimes if he's been a bit quiet I'll have a really cold or sugary drink and then sit/lie down for a bit. Maybe give something like that a go? Xxx

Rosehyd2 · 14/10/2017 22:15

Thanks @klaw87. I have been out shopping all day and walking around for hours. At one point I did stop and have a cold fizzy drink which I thought would kick baby into wriggles but it didn't.

I'd say I've been sat down on the sofa
for about 3 hours now with my feet up, have had dinner, and drunk over a pint of cold squash. And still no change Sad

Owl1011 · 14/10/2017 22:15

@Rosehyd2 I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and if I have a busy day I don't feel much movement until I have a chance to lay down and relax, I've done as klaw suggests in the past and find it helps to have a cold or sugary drink

@Disinterested aww no worries Smile I remember how wonderful my wedding was, seems like a distant memory now over two years ago!

klaw87 · 14/10/2017 22:27

It's really hard to say @Rosehyd2 as it depends on if baby has settled into a solid routine movement wise I think, if you are really worried and it is very different from normal, maybe give your maternity unit a ring and see what they say for peace of mind. It's so difficult not to worry all the bloody time isn't it but I'm sure all is okay in there and baby is just chilling after a busy day.

Sybarite85 · 14/10/2017 22:45

@Rosehyd2 yup still find they're pretty erratic, I can go all day without feeling anything if busy at work/on the go and then just as I'm starting to get in a tizz baby will wake up and go hell for leather making up for lost time! Kicks Count recommendation is from 28 weeks so guess we have another couple of weeks before tracking too closely but still good to get familiar with pattern.

Don't know if anyone else has looked at the Kicks Count app yet, you're meant to log each time you get an 'episode' of movements but sometimes I'll have two in fairly close succession and unclear if should log them as one or two. Seems a bit arbitrary.

Found baby mostly wakes up when I've just eaten but not always and the classic cold drink doesn't seem to do anything!

SJ1989 · 15/10/2017 00:11

@rosehyd2 they say lie on your left is meant to increase blood flow and make baby more active, try a cold sugary drink an lie on your left, think they say try it for up to 2 hours if still no movement call your unit just to put your mind at rest and get checked!

@disinterested I'm glad your feeling a bit better and reassured and congratulations! Sorry I forgot to say it on my previous comment to you!

wapphighwood · 15/10/2017 07:17

Terrible night of insomnia, dd woke us at 12.30, dh took about half an hour to resettle her in her own bed ( she wanted into ours) I then couldn't get back to sleep until nearly 4.SadI had a little cry about 3 it is so frustrating, been feeling ill with sore throat for a week I can't shift it if not getting enough sleep. Now I'm up with dc at 6.10 because dh claimed her did the night shift because he dealt with dd 🙄. Is there anything we can take at all?!
I'm not uncomfortable I just can't sleep. I did spend a while worrying about who will look after dd when labour starts, family is a good 3 hours drive away, and if middle of the night they may not wake to the phone ringing (ditched their landline and leave mobile downstairs all the time )Some local friends might be able to help but what if it is the middle of the night and they have work the next day, I would feel bad ringing them then, they have their own dc to deal with

ndo4000 · 15/10/2017 08:26

@wapphighwood I feel your pain. I was awake at 2am again this morning for no reason. It's so frustrating! Hard when you dcs are really little too (mine are 10 & 8 so a bit easier when it comes to night time waking!).

Re worrying about who will look after your dd. Perhaps your family can promise to keep their phones upstairs (& on loud) when you are nearer your edd?

If it helps, when I was in labour with dd2 I had to get a neighbour I had only met a couple of times to come and be with my eldest for an hour while my MIL was stuck on the motorway. It was fine!!!

klaw87 · 15/10/2017 09:00

I was awake too! From about 2 til 5 or 6ish! I tossed and turned the night before too, so made sure I didn't nap yesterday so that I could be really tired - fat lot of good that did! It's so so frustrating, I don't know how those of you with little ones already at home are coping - I admire you that's for sure as I think I'd be really struggling 😩
So much for making the most of a good nights sleep while we can eh.

SJ1989 · 15/10/2017 09:15

Newborn stuff all organised for the hospital bag! Also got a few 0-3 months in there in case she's a proper chunk, just got a few more bits to get for the hospital bag now then I'm organised. Early I know but with being high risk for preterm I want the bag ready so if I go into labour early im not stressing about being in labour and about not having anything ready!

January Babies #5 - Are we 'glowing' yet?!
Usernamegone · 15/10/2017 09:18

SJ - you are so organised!

Woke up in the middle of the night with agonisinging leg cramps Sad

SJ1989 · 15/10/2017 09:28

@usernamegone I'm not normally so I'm surprising myself but figuring any worry I can take away from the situation if I do go I to labour early the better!

Keeping water next to the bed is meant to be good if your suffering cramp as drinking water helps get rid of cramp as well as stretching your legs but I find that's not easy when they are already cramped up!

ForumUsername · 15/10/2017 10:24

@Roseandbee I was 25 +3 for the Scan
Still looking at them amazed!

We aren’t doing up a nursery, baby will be in with us till next summer so will do up their room closer to when we’ll be moving them

Still looking at all the lovely wallpapers and furniture bits though.....

Waitingonasmile · 15/10/2017 11:04

Congratulations @Disinterested!! That's rubbish about OC diagnosis though.

@Rosehyd2 I haven't noticed a pattern in movements and sometimes panic too (27+5). If you are really worried I would definitely get it checked out. Better to check than be stressed and miserable wondering.

@SJ1989 wow I am so jealous of your organisation!!!

We also won't bother with sorting rooms until summer as baby will be in with us until then and I'm lazy. Now need to get a clingy 2 year old out our bed. Blush

Disinterested · 15/10/2017 11:12

So I'm back from my third blood test of the week (and to think I had a needle phobia before all of this! Grin). As id guessed, my ALT levels were very raised. Normal is up to 33 and mine were 136!

She's sent my LFT through as urgent and I will hear back by the end of the day. She was pretty convinced it's OC and wasn't very reassuring about this :(. It's likely I'll be in tomorrow for another blood test and a scan of baby and my liver though - so at least I'll see him.

Not felt him move as much but I've been so busy. Heard him on doppler thumping away though :). Gonna have a Lucozade and lie down.

I did get out of miscoating the bedroom through this though so there is a silver lining 😂

@SLJ how organised of you! Very impressive!!

Fredthefrog · 15/10/2017 15:26

@disinterested scary news but just been sent gorgeous pictures of a baby born healthily after a late diagnosis of cholestisis. Glad you were able to enjoy the wedding without the diagnosis and are feeling confident in you healthcare team.

Disinterested · 15/10/2017 16:21

Me again - sorry guys!

Just been called and obstetric cholestasis has been confirmed. My bile levels are 29 which is apparently very high for so early - it's not usually diagnosed earlier than 33 weeks :(

Seeing the consultant but I am very very scared now. I feel like such a failure and it's horrible to know that my body is poisoning my baby.

@Fred that is reassuring to read!

Waitingonasmile · 15/10/2017 16:27

Oh @Disinterested I'm so sorry no wonder you are stressed when you haven't seen consultant yet. Did they say when you will speak to someone? Flowers

millsbynight · 15/10/2017 16:52

@Disinterested please don’t stress too much even though this is scary news to receive! Severe levels are described as 40+ so at 29 you’re still ok. Your risk for still birth is small (1 in 100 if not taken care of) and your condition is common, around 1 in 150 women develop it in pregnancy, so the obstetricians and consultants will know what they’re doing and how to manage your pregnancy going forward.

You will most likely have your levels monitored weekly and if they continue to rise they will induce you or offer a CS. You might be the first of us on here for your baby to arrive Grin

My hairdresser had this condition and was induced at 32 weeks and has a beautiful 1 year old healthy baby boy!

Thinking of you Flowers

SpringChicken26 · 15/10/2017 16:59

@disinterested my friend had her baby in May got diagnosed with this at 30 weeks she was monitored and offered to be induced but she wanted to hang on until 37 weeks continuing to be monitored which she managed to do and gave birth to a healthy 8lb baby !

Rosehyd2 · 15/10/2017 17:46

@Disinterested I have no useful insights to add except I really hope you get all of the information and care you need. Thinking of you Flowers

weasledee · 15/10/2017 19:58

Still lurking here, just wanted to wish you the best disinterested. At least your hospital will be able to look after you accordingly now you have a diagnosis x

Disinterested · 15/10/2017 20:45

Hi everyone!

Thank you for your kind words. I've had my wobble now and feel far more positive already and am sure it'll all work out fine with the right care. My husband (My god it feels weird to type that) has taken tomorrow off and we are going to watch the new blade runner at the cinema after our consultation.

@weasledee your well wishes mean a lot! Hope you are keeping well? I lit a candle for the wave a light baby loss awareness week this evening and thought of you and your little one. Xx

SJ1989 · 15/10/2017 22:21

@disinterested sorry you've had had news having it confirmed but glad your already feeling more positive! With the right monitoring and care I'm sure you and baby will be fine! Risks are just that a risk not a guarantee although still very scary I know but they know and can take care of you both and you have a new husband, your family, friends and us guys for support xx
