Thanks those who commented re- due date! 27 weeks on Mon was what I worked it out as too by counting back, but then another online calculator had me further behind. All a bit arbitrary anyway, I guess - Bump doesn't have a calendar in there and will no doubt make an appearance at some point in Jan when he's ready!

I'm another one in the "purchased almost nothing" camp. We're renovating a house at the same time as expecting a baby, so have a lot going on with builders etc (that's my excuse, anyway!). I've started doing a bit of research for bigger items, but not intending to buy much until Nov / Dec. Planning to go to the Baby Show at Olympia in a couple of weeks to investigate a few products.

@Isabeau1980 - Good point re- Mothercare event.

Does anyone know when the main baby stores are likely to have big discount events? I'm guessing sales starting in Dec as usual - but is anyone aware of events before that?

All I really have is clothes lol! We have picked pram - went for stokke trailz, snuzpod crib, car seat, base, cot, mama roo & angel care monitor! Not actually ordered anything yet however.

25 weeks today!!! Not felt as much movement over the weekend it’s been strange I suppose I should really start keeping track but I have been busy! He has kicked though albeit not a lot I do feel like my bumps changed though so maybe he’s changed position!

Can I post a bit tmi but I’m really worried? Basically I have felt a strange gushing sensation that has made me think of when a period starts. I’ve checked and it’s always been clear but definitely watery and not mucus. I mentioned it to my Midwife and she was concerned that it was watery and said to keep and eye and ring if it happens again. It did happen again but was less the second time so I spoke to triage at the hosp and they said same thing really to monitor and ring if it happens again. Both times it felt like it was a worry but that because it wasn’t much liquid it was probably ok. Last nigh dh and I had sex early on cleaned up and went to sleep. I woke 4 hours later and was soaked all at the back of my pyjamas and underwear, again it was clear and watery with no real smell to it. It was a lot more liquid this time. I’ve phoned triage and she just thinks it’s from having sex and not anything to worry about. I’ve explained the other times and I’ve asked if I can come in and be checked over and she basically said no need it’s normal to have fluid after sex. I’m not reassured at all so haven’t gone into work and not really sure what to do next! Again sorry for the overshare but don’t know how to explain my worries without all the detail!

Hi @Serendipper I've been experiencing a lot more discharge recently and I believe this is common in pregnancy. Whilst last night is probably due to sex I would worry the same as you. Can you ring your midwife to see if she can get you an appt? If anything just to put your mind at rest?
Just be persistent and insist you want to go in x

Watery discharge is very normal serendipper and can be in huge amounts. However, I would probably pop in to your day assessment unit or triage for an assessment if you are worried

I emailed a placenta encapsulation specialist over the weekend. It will set me back £200 but I think it's probably worth it for me

Yes @Serendipper, please do insist that they check you out as it has happened several times. If triage is being obstructive then I would ring your midwife and ask her to get you in for a check up today, explaining the situation and saying that you're really worried due to the quantity of fluid. Nobody should treat you as if you're a bother to them, it is their job to make sure you and the baby are safe! X

@Serendipper I've posted before about a similar thing. I had a lot of clear watery discharge and I did panic the first few times it happened.

I was advised by triage to put on a pad and lie down on my side for 45 mins, then stand up and see if anymore comes out. This is because if it's amniotic fluid it will pool whilst lying down and then come out when standing. They said if I had anymore to come in and bring pad with me so they can test if it was amniotic fluid.

I didn't have anymore after lying down so didn't go in. It's happened a few more times since then but I'm not panicking now as I think it's definitely just discharge.

However if you are worried please call them back and ask to be checked today as you can't lie down for 45 mins if you are in work! They can do a very quick easy test to see if its amniotic fluid which will put your mind at ease. Let us know how you get on.

@Mummyme87 what is placenta encapsulation??

I just googled it. Had heard of it before but didn't realise thats what it was called

maybebaby its when they steam and dry out your placenta and put it in to capsules for you to consume. I don't believe there is proper scientific evidence like randomised control trials or anything but certainly a lot of anecdotal evidence. It's supposed to increase energy levels and iron levels, reduce PND and baby blues, increase milk supply.
I've seen a lot of women at work do it and read a lot online. It's a lot of cash but I had PND last time and will do anything to reduce that risk, even if it's placebo effect.. good enough for me

@Serendipper I'm also experiencing lots of discharge and agree it can definitely be worrying. I think someone mentioned before you can buy something from Boots that can detect if it's amniotic fluid or not.

Is anyone struggling with shaving? I'm down to once a week and it's like a work out!

@Waitingonasmile I had laser hair removal two years ago which worked great!
But since getting pregnant hair has grown back in places 😒
It’s really annoying having to shave again, I’m lucky it’s only light and am getting away with it once a week
Fairly peed off with spending all that money for hormones to ruin it though!

I’m getting quite a lot of watery discharge too the past couple of weeks
More the days after having sex, I guess with all the excitement and etc that is to be expected
The other morning it went through my pjs a bit
I’m not too worried because although it’s watery it also seems slippery when wet and drys white.
I imagine waters leaking wouldn’t be slippery and not dry white?!?
From extensive googling it’s very normal to have lots of discharge during pregnancy. All different kinds!
But do get checked if you are worried.

Had my 25 week appointment today, initially worried because midwife measured my bump at 24 weeks and I'm 25+1 she did say it's a little early for accurate measurements so they tend to do it properly from 28 weeks onwards and she wasn't concerned about it. Turns out I was very lucky though because the sonographers were doing some extra training and as I fit the criteria they asked me to volunteer for a scan and was given free photos (defo wasn't going to turn down the chance to see baby!) scan showed baby measuring correctly for my GA and was really detailed (was in there for about 40mins!) so at least that helped to put my mind at rest!

First day back today after a week off work and shortlisted for my mat cover, it felt very strange!

Don't fret owl. It's normal to measure 3cm either side of your gestation.. so at 25/40 anywhere from 22cm-28cm is normal

Thank you @Mummyme87 that's very reassuring! I don't know if it's the tiredness or hormones but I've been a nervous paranoid wreck the last few weeks! Need to learn some relaxation techniques

Lots of discharge here too. It makes me feel like I need a wee a lot but when I go there's nothing to come out (tmi) it's just the sensation of it and a very very small amount of discharge.

On a side note, I've been really nervous about having sex so poor DH has had to go with out. We dtd a month ago and it gave me really bad cramping lower abdominal muscles after. They went away after about 20mins but I really don't want that again!

Thanks to everyone that replied, I did end up going to the hospital after (my Midwife sorted it for me) they were really good and really thorough. Kept me in all day for observation and I felt a lot better by the time they finished that I really was ok. They also reassured me that I had done the right thing going in and they apologised for the way I had been dealt with in the morning (which was a bit of a shock). I’m exhausted now but not worried anymore!

@serendipper I'm glad to hear they checked you over and all is Ok! Definitely did the right thing as stressing isn't good for you or baby!

I've got a growth scan tomorrow before seeing the consultant, happy to get a peek at the little one again :)
