Thanks all, I really appreciate your kind reassurances. I had a MMC in my previous pregnancy at 11+5 and my cousin recently found out her baby wouldn't survive at her 20 week scan so I guess it's understandable that I'm a bit panicky, but even knowing that doesn't make it any easier! Doesn't help that baby has kicked at this time of the morning for the past few days but I haven't felt a thing today - am hoping posting here will encourage her to have a bit of a wriggle!

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 14/09/2017 12:31

just need clarification..
when i come back off holiday my qualifying weeks will have ended. I was going to start my maternity beginning of november straight away. Now i'm thinking about lasting till December but going back to work part time from full time from October until December. Will this affect my SMP at all with the qualifying weeks having already ended?
thinking of going back after holiday from middle oct to end of november part time - ie from 5 days to 3 days

ndo4000 · 14/09/2017 14:56

Good luck this afternoon @peachgreen!

Anyone else got sore ribs?! Sounds weird, but they almost feel bruised! (Could be something to do with my massive tits sitting on them.... Shock).

Am not concerned, just wondered if anyone else was feeling it?

peachgreen · 14/09/2017 18:39

Scan was perfect. She's measuring a few days behind so my due date has shifted to 24 January but nothing to worry about. She looked just gorgeous. So relieved and happy - I feel like I can start enjoying it now!

ChocoMunchi · 14/09/2017 18:45

Terrible heartburn... 😢😢😢
Only ever get heartburn when I'm pregnant 🤰

ChocoMunchi · 14/09/2017 19:15

@peachgreen that's great news. Glad everything was ok and you can start to relax. It is very reassuring when you see baby on the screen 💕

Iamchanging · 14/09/2017 20:11

Aw congrats peach! My second try for a scan is tomorrow - let's hope she uncurls from her ball position this time!

MissyJones80s · 14/09/2017 20:53

Wonderful peachgreen so glad you had a lovely experience. I can see why you were so anxious, how sad for your cousin. And sorry for your previous mm Flowers. My due date is also 24 Jan!

Iamchanging fx for you tomorrow for a lovely baby stretching out for you

Gemxo · 15/09/2017 09:37

Ok so I had a scare lastnight, please tell me I'm not the only one who has suffered from this and I shouldn't worry!

So I woke up around 2am lying straight on my back with the WORST pain I have felt, the pain was to the back of my ribs on my right side, it was so bad I had to wake my DP up as it terrified me, I kept moving positions to try and take the pain away but it just felt like I was being crushed on the inside, I can only describe it as the pain of being crushed. Now when I have googled this a lot of women have just put it down to everything moving up and ribcage expanding. Should I not worry then? Is this just another pregnancy symptom no one tells or warns you about?

Thankfully the pain has now eased a lot but I can still feel a ache in my ribs, baby is still kicking away so I know he is fine in there. Put this pain was terrible it was taking my breath away

Disinterested · 15/09/2017 13:04

@Gemxo the only thing similar I've had is when I move suddenly in bed and get a horrific stabbing pain on the side I've moved which takes my breath away and can make me cry out.. think it might be ligament pain for me but not sure for you. Have you thought about calling your midwife just to be sure? It sounds horrible :(

I'd really like to join the FB group if anybody could help with that? :)

Mummyme87 · 15/09/2017 14:08

Pelvic girdle pain is killing me. Really struggling already 😢

MissyJones80s · 15/09/2017 14:13

Gemxo no not had anything like that but it could just be baby getting into a funny position there are lots of organs on that side of your body so things can get a bit crushed over there. I'd call the midwife just to put my mind at rest if I were you.

rememberpurpleronnie · 15/09/2017 14:54

@Mummyme87 me too, it's rotten. I now have crutches but don't need to use them all the time. If I walk more than about 100m I'm crippled. Not quite worked out how I'm going to chase a wild toddler with crutches yet- I've been looking into reins!!

reetgood · 15/09/2017 15:37

For some reason The thread wasn't showing up in notifications, boo. Sorry to hear some of you struggling with ligament pain of various types. I started to worry re pgp but after a couple of pregnancy yoga classes the twinges seems to have decreased so probably wasn't in fact pgp.

Had 25 week appt today, although I'm 24 weeks :) had two out of three blood pressure measurements top number reading higher than midwife liked so am back in two weeks rather than four. No protein in wee. Will be practising meditation for next two weeks in hopes of bringing it down. I had just powered up a hill to get to appt and have some deadlines this week so hoping was just that.

Went to a homebirth group at weekend, was encouraging and not too 'only natural birth is ok'. Seriously considering it. calm down blood pressure! She said bottom number was fine though so hoping I'll see improvement.

Iamchanging · 15/09/2017 18:03

Bad scan, baby has enlarged ventricles. Beyond devastated. Consultant appointment next thurs as there are no spaces before.

MummyM33 · 15/09/2017 18:32

@Iamchanging I'm sorry to hear your scan showed this. I've been googling for you (I know you shouldn't but I can't help it) and there are lots of positive stories where they give you extra scans and monitoring and it all turns out ok with baby. I'll be thinking of you, hope your consultant appt goes well. Look after yourself x

reetgood · 15/09/2017 18:34

@iamchanging did they give any indication what implications were or do you have to wait to see consultant? Really tough for you, I'm thinking good thoughts xxx

Iamchanging · 15/09/2017 18:59

Hi both,
They were very non committal, basically saying that they weren't experts and I would have to wait for the referral. Upper limit of normal is 10mm, but excessive googling seems to say that its now a bit of a waiting game to see if her 12.5mm goes up, down or stays stable. It's not good though looking at the clinical trials. Can't stop crying

rememberpurpleronnie · 15/09/2017 19:23

@Iamchanging
Try to stay positive, I know it's so hard. The worst time is the uncertainty, I have been through something similar with my son and his heart. Once you meet your consultant you can ask all your questions and there is a good chance the appointment could give you reassurance. In the mean time, write down every question that comes into your head, try not to google, or get someone else to do it and only present you with info from evidence based sites such as the NHS or condition specific charities (in my case the British Heart Foundation were brilliant). Remember you don't know the whole story yet so anything you read may not be at all relevant to your situation. Be kind to yourself FlowersBrew

MissyJones80s · 15/09/2017 19:58

Iamchanging sorry you have had this news. I also had a Google for you and I'd say for now just hold tight and wait to see, totally rubbish I know and probably impossible not to worry...I've just read quite a few positive stories too but as rememberpurpleronnie suggest prob best not to Google yourself and get others to do for you! Much love and positivity your way. Flowers

reetgood · 15/09/2017 20:07

great advice from @rememberpurpleronnie . A waiting game is no fun xx

Owl1011 · 15/09/2017 21:21

@Iamchanging I'm so sorry to hear about your scan and the uncertainty. I can't offer any advice or wisdom but just here for a hand hold Flowers

Maybebaby2 · 15/09/2017 22:21

So sorry Iamchanging, I'm also here for a hand hold and sending positive thoughts to you Flowers

Rosehyd2 · 15/09/2017 22:43

@iamchanging I'm so sorry to hear this. Just know you're in the right place to be looked at by some fantastic specialists. With our baby troubles it's been the only thing to get me through knowing I can't change this now so I just need to feel safer knowing the experts will see us through.
I cried for days and couldn't sleep with our baby news a week ago. Now I've got more information I'm much more pragmatic, it's the not knowing that's the worst.

Rosehyd2 · 15/09/2017 22:50

For anyone that remembers our troubles with baby's stomach a 10 days ago, I have an update.

We were referred at 20 week scan to see a cardiologist and a fetal medicine doctor. Both confirmed baby's stomach was on the wrong side but that it was an isolated issue. We were then referred again to check it wasn't related to a genetic disorder.

Well today we found out it wasn't related to genetics, but it's more serious than we thought. There is a risk baby's gut will be twisted as the stomach has pushed it out of sync slightly by being in the wrong place. We go back in 6 weeks to see a whole team of specialists including a paediatrician, a paediatric surgeon, and a handful of others. It's likely baby will need major surgery once born so we need to be prepared for that. What a day.
Strangely I feel more okay than I did a week ago when it was shock and not knowing, now I'm just trying to be as prepared as I can be for baby.
