oh dear oh dear oh dear, just had to hunt out the now extinct april thread title ROFL
well Foxy your donught story made me NEARLY wet myself - not at your misfortune of custard being jam but at the hillarious way you told the story. you should take them back with a bite out each and go to customer services and cry!!! you are bound to get a crate of free custard ones in your condition
can't remember everything else except shite MW cover in London. - might not get good scans here in scotland but our midwifery care is fab.
oh yeah and new pram ......mmmmmm i using crappy old one, unless i ACCIDENTLY break it
dd's spots are disappearing - yippee must have just been viral rashes.

Talking of needing a drink, and I know this is going to sound very controversial so I'm going to whisper it and I don't even smoke, and haven't even tried it since uni! It feels like now I CAN'T do all these things I feel like a really want to do them. Like at work there is an advert for a charity abseil down a castle. I'd love to do it, but the stupid thing is if I wasn't pg I wouldn't do it in a million years. I'm terrified of heights. Is anyone else getting these reckless feelings at the time when you should be most protective?

Good luck with the Easter bonnets. Normally that would definitely be a glass of wine job. But no. We can't. Because we are pregnant. Because it seemed like a good idea at the time. Puh!

derlor · 30/03/2007 18:46

Foxy no reason why you can't have a glass of red wine. it's very good for you even when pg. note i said GLASS NOT BOTTLE

keep meaning to ask what does 'bump' stand for i keep seeing it in threads and it makes no sense to me am i being a muppet?

OP posts:
sputnik · 30/03/2007 19:07

Just back from seeing my gynae so she could give me a letter saying I was ok to go on the aeroplane and she gave me a quick internal exam, my cervix is already 1cm dilated.
Apparently I must have had some contractions already - hadn't noticed but it's been so achey down there recently and the baby moves around so much I'm not completely surprised.
she prescribed me something and told me to rest. I am pissed off.

bumperlicious · 30/03/2007 19:11

Ooh sputnik, how strange. Can you still fly? Does this mean that you might be early? Which part are you pissed off about?

Btw derlor 'bump' is what people do/write to keep threads active, so if no-one has replied you might bump the thread so someone sees it later.

derlor · 30/03/2007 19:13

thanks bumper.
so what happens now sputnik. is it TOTAL rest for you?

OP posts:
notsolilKel · 30/03/2007 19:15

Bump means that someone is trying to 'bump' their thread up to the top of the active list.

Sputnik, that's totally shocking. It's a good thing they found out though!!

I've actually had some bad very labour-like cramps the past week, and stomachaches since last night. Nothing seemed to be consistent though. Still I've a bad secret fear of going into labour early (DS came at 37 wks and I'm 30+ now). My real nightmare would be going into labour, in the car, in the middle of Brussels, as we'll be on the road all day tomorrow en route to stuttgart....

notsolilKel · 30/03/2007 19:17

oh yeah and I'm defo from the school of "some wine during pg is good for you if you fancy it" --- along with Guiness and other beer. And champagne, of course.

foxybrown · 30/03/2007 19:57

Sputnik, I hope you are OK. Try not to worry, and get lots of rest.

If Barclays cough up with my claim for refund of charges I might have a new buggy.

Or I might go to a spa for a weekend.

foxybrown · 30/03/2007 19:58

Derlor, are you suggesting I could drink to excess? Well there's absolutely no chance of that as I've none in the house and TP isn't here until Sunday.

HOORAY!!!! Have finished work for the Easter holidays.

This means I can catch up with messages during the day instead of waiting until I get in and then having a major stress trying to catch up! Hooray Hooray!

The girl at work had a little boy today. I believe he was over 8 pounds. She works at a different site to me and I hadn't seen her for a few weeks but she was a very big girl to begin with. We've talked about it all day and no one can believe she didn't know! It was being gossiped about in the staffroom and another staff member piped up that she had her son on her living room floor aged 17. She had had no idea she was pregnant and was so shocked that her heart stopped and she had to be resuscitated by paramedics!!!

It really has been a hotbed of gossip at work today. And we actually spent most of the day in M&S as they put a tea party on for us at the end of every term so we go and eat lots of yummy things and they give the kids pressies. It's all very civilised!

Having scanned through today's posts, I am now having obsessive thoughts about custard doughnuts. Our local Asda has them but i'm already in my PJs (and have been for 3 hours!) and don't feel like venturing out. However, I do have two very gorgeous (personalised ) Thornton's easter eggs that my fabulous colleagues/lovely friends gave me today. Am tempted to eat them both. And DHs secret stash of Haribo gold bears! Off to raid cupboards....

derlor · 30/03/2007 20:13

holly are you there????
i was just getting up from dd's bed after story/song time and i said 'oof' then laughed so much a little bit of pee actually came out (TMI?) sorry but it's all your fault.
Foxy nightmare no wine in the house can't you get that sort of thing delivered where you live?

OP posts:
foxybrown · 30/03/2007 20:16

Catkin, that's bizarre - I just can't imagine it! Is she happy? It must be so hard to suddenly be handed a baby without any build up or preperation! We have 9 months to get our heads round it. Do they offer any counselling for things like this?

Anyway, sounds like you've had a lovely day. Lots of lovely treats. Hope you are more successful with your custard donuts than I was. Am still smarting.

Daisybump · 30/03/2007 20:16

Phew...just caught up again and that's only since lunchtime....
sputnik...sorry to hear about your cervix...does it mean you'll have the baby early, or can they give you something to stop it?
well can't do the holiday thing before mat leave as there's not enough notice period...ah well, never mind. It just means that I can take it all at the end and basically get a months salary for not working...sounds good to me and will help with the first month nursery fees etc. Of course I may not go back, but I'm just wondering...as I will have 5 weeks in total to take, whether I can use that holiday period in lieu of notice and still get paid??? I feel a trip to the citizin's advice bureau coming on.
they did a collection and presented me wiht a card and a gift card for £110 for Mothercare...which was really nice (so that's baby changing tablebath thingy sorted as well as steriliser and bottles and a few other bits too probably). But, it was my line manager did the presentation, my big boss didn't even show his face until 6:45 when I was still there tidying up (they want me to clear my desk completely for my cover who starts on Wednesday) and take all my textbooks/pens/equipment home too....but no-one offered to carry out three boxes of books to the car...twunts all of them). anyway, the big boss asked me for my mobile phone and all my surveying equipment back. He can gladly have it up his bum for all I care....not sure what an office full of men is going to do with a pair of size 4 rigger boots, but there you go!
the really pissy thing is that I didn't get everything done, so I'll have to go in tomorrow to finish it off, and then I've to post my key through the letterbox....DH said I should just shred the rest and then refuse to answer my home phone on the grounds that it's my home phone and that of they wanted to contact me they should let me keep my mobile.

Phew...sorry about the rant, but they have been really getting to me..the big boss has barely spoken to me for the last six weeks (since I changed the date to start my leave really)

Gotta go, DH has cooked dinner...

derlor · 30/03/2007 20:16

Flip catkin where do you work???? tea party in M&S and easter eggs i'm lucky to get a paper clip when i need one!!!

OP posts:
foxybrown · 30/03/2007 20:17

Now I'm PMSL at your incontinent 'oof'. Sorry!!!!

derlor · 30/03/2007 20:20

hope you don't literally PYSL like i did!!!!

OP posts:
foxybrown · 30/03/2007 20:20

definately preferring catkins place of work to daisybumps!

catkin555 · 30/03/2007 20:25

Derlor: Laughing (cruelly I know ) at you peeing yourself. Done it myself. It's awful but in a funny kind of way. When else do you have a valid excuse to wet your knicks?

Foxy:
I really don't know if she's happy. I'll be meeting up with someone next week who knows her a bit better and will find out then! I'd be freaked out if I were her. Although I can't imagine how anyone can get past their mid twenties and not know themselves and their body well enough to realise they have an 8lb baby inside themselves!

Oh, and I teach at a special school-M&S throw these fab tea parties every Christmas, Easter and Summer for my fab class of four plus parents and siblings. They really are a great way to end the term! I've informed them that I will be attending the Summer one even though i'll be on Maternity leave!

My support workers gave me the eggs - They're also my best friends so are fab to have on my team!!

catkin555 · 30/03/2007 20:28

Sorry Daisy. There's me going on about how fab my day at work was when you've had a crap time

Forget about the twunty bumholios. You're off now!!!! (tomorrow doesn't count!!)

foxybrown · 30/03/2007 20:31

twunty bumholios!!!!!!!!!! lovin it!

catkin555 · 30/03/2007 20:37

Bumholio is one of DH's favourite expressions!

I ate a bar of Thornton's Strawberry Oink chocolate and a massive (think Starbucks Venti size!) mug of tea. Now need a wee but can't face the trek upstairs due to poorly pelvis. Think Dh would mind if I just peed where i'm sitting?? I'm on a slatted wooden chair and the floor is wooden....

derlor · 30/03/2007 20:39

you go girl nothing wrong with a bit of pee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
