Yet another new thread, because just like all the remaining posters the old one is about to go pop.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Morning again, ladies,

Can't believe we're all still here drumming our fingers - and not a thing going on here. Well, some lower backache last night - but that was just dull backache, and it's completely gone now.

Do you have a date for induction Lunar? I've got my hospital review on wednesday, but even that is looming close now, with so little happening here.

Good luck all - can't wait to read your good news.

Mossie · 01/04/2007 10:33

Diva... unfortunately Doctor Who didn't send me into labour so I'm still here with this now April lo!!

Lunar / Kitty I keep thinking about induce / not to induce. If he's not arrived by tomorrow I'm going to book a sweep / internal for Tuesday (did I mention that that's my thirtieth?) or Wednesday.

After that, I'll have to start thinking about how I feel, it's whether I can keep on waiting indefinitely, I'm not a particularly patient person. I think i'm going to give myself until 42 weeks then I'll probably crumble under the waiting and pressure!

Gonna eat some cake and drink some coffee now... although wine sounds lovely and I have to admit, I have had the odd craving for ciggies this pgcy.

Mossie · 01/04/2007 10:34

X posts Runningal, what is your hospital review about?

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 01/04/2007 10:44

Well, I think I've had a 'show' this morning .
I say think because I've not had one before. I'd been having alot of very thick mucousy stuff these last couple of days (sorry if tmi) but didn't think much of it and this morning there was loads of stuff, but all brown ( sorry) is that a show?

Lunar, does your baby feel really huge?

Mossy, enjoy the cake

Runningal, hang on in there, it won't be long now.

i got lots of pick and mix for labour sustenance but dp has been scoffing them

11 days over

runningal · 01/04/2007 11:05

Kitty - that sounds very much like a show to me. Sounds like things could be kicking off for you soon!

Mossie - I think I'll be going mad and would be keen on induction if i went 2 weeks over. Especially considering I'm only a day over today and already chomping at the bit!! Good luck with your decision!

I think it's just an appt to discuss options for me on wednesday - bit early for induction then, I guess.

Anyone for some fresh pineapple chunks? i've had too much already - can't face any more!!

LaidbackinEngland · 01/04/2007 11:14

Sounds like a show to me too kitty ...

Come on Ronnie !

Mossie from my recent experience, going 15 days overdue.. I would definately do it again. From what my midwives told me and other research I have done, inductions can increase other interventions i.e. CS and forceps/ventouse by 50%. The risks of increase in stillbirths only go up from 0.1 % to 0.2 % at 42 weeks. Amos did not seem overcooked either and came out very easily and of his own accord.

It is totally your decision, but I think nature works in wonderful ways .

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 01/04/2007 11:33

I'd def second that Laidback. It's tough though, the waiting. I still have clear memories of the pain of the last labour though, so I'm actually in NO hurry at all. Well apart from the freedom from large cumbersome bump hurry!!
laidback, were you shocked by the birth you had? I've been telling some friends about it and they've all said that you must have been in terrible shock afterwards. I said it didn't sound like it from your description, but perhaps you were!!!. I remember after my last birth when I dilated from 3 to 10 in half an hour that I was shaking uncontrollabley shortly after the birth.

foxcub · 01/04/2007 14:44

oooh Kitty - that defo sounds like a show....you're on the way sometime soon

Mossy - what did you think of Dr Who then?

Hi everyone else

morocco · 01/04/2007 14:45

good luck everyone still waiting for their babies, april will be a lovely spring time for a newborn.
good luck with the sweep mossie - mine was brill in that it started things off in minutes so pack your bags .

foxcub · 01/04/2007 14:50

my sweep worked too

Mossie · 01/04/2007 15:11

Well I'm hoping - beyond hope, possibly, that he will make an appearance before my internal / sweep. But chance would be a fine thing!

Kitty glad to hear you've had a show! Things kicking off yet?

Runningal I am a bit nervous that when I book my sweep they'll try to induce me at the same time. Especially as dh is driving me (I'm not doing public transport this size) and I know he is more likely than me to believe any horror stories they try to scare me with!

Still I'm sticking ot my guns. I certainly don't want anything unil 42 weeks and then I'll see how I feel at that point.

Just had a BBQ for dinner! Dh & I in the back yard with the ipod and speakers... and a cool glass of white wine. So there! It is incredibly sunny outside, here. Although now we have come in to watch the cricket... looks like it's been rained off though! Who said UK weather was the pits?

Foxy I loved it... did you see all the references to Mr Saxon?? This year's Bad Wolf methinks!

muppethasakitten · 01/04/2007 15:51

Feeling for you ladies now - although that defo sounds like a show kitty...

Gorgeous weather here too mossy... been in garden most of day doing spring tidying! Kids been playing and building camps in woods... ahhh makes me dream of summer evenings with lovely glass of cold white wine....

Had several interesting nights with Samuel who has colic and still being super night party animal.. infacol is helping but i've also been recommended to a cranial osteopath... anyone tried one?

Missed Dr Who - but kids thoroughly enjoyed it... apparantly there were alien rhinos????

divastrop · 01/04/2007 16:03

im going to back the 'dont be induced unless you know your baby is at risk if you're not'brigade.if you are induced and baby is nowhere near to being ready then its just one medical intervention after another.

kitty-i was in shcok after my labour.i'd been 4-5 cm dilated for 2 days then i went from 6cm to 10cm in 20 minutes and the 2nd stage only lasted about 3 minutes.its was so quick,id just felt the first 'pushy' contraction, turned onto my hands and knees, and the mw was telling me to 'gently breathe the baby out'i was thinking 'eh?have i missed something?there was a bit of that labour missing!'

my plan for last night didnt work so i dont know whether to actually start a new thread on relationships.im worried that, instead of being told im a paranoid wacko,i may get jumped on by the 'leave the bsatard' brigade which i really dont want to hear atm

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 01/04/2007 17:03

Diva, what's going on then? Is your DP having probs adjusting to having a small baby around?

Muppet, my first born son had the most awful colic. I did try a cranial osteopath, but I don't think I went for long enough. I took him to one after his reaction to the mmr and after a while he made very good improvments.

I'm really hoping this little chap doesn't get colic as it's mainly boys who get it isn't it?

Well, having got all rid of all children but the baby today, I have spent a good deal of time de -limescaling toilets

LunarSea · 01/04/2007 17:06

Kitty - this one definately feels quite a bit bigger than ds did - and he was 9lbs 2.

I wish there were some figures for the probability of interventon according to baby size - so what difference does it make having one which is 9/10/11 lbs? Apparently the average baby born in the UK is about 7.5 lbs - so potentially I'm looking at about half as big again @ 42 weeks I'm thinking now that I should pack some 0-3 things for baby, as newborn might already be too small!

OP posts:
divastrop · 01/04/2007 17:13

kitty-i dont know wtf is going on,dont know if im getting PND or if im just seeing things in a new light and the problems were always there or if im having trouble adjusting to having a man around when ive just had a baby-a man who i dont want to kill and who i'm not hatching a plan to get rid of asap that is.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 01/04/2007 17:16

Lunar, I've heard that actually it has more to do with the baby's birthing position than it does its size. Head size can also be a factor. You hear of tiny women giving birth easily to big biffa babies and big women having problems birthing small ones.

My friend recently had her baby and she was 10lbs. She didn't look at all like a huge 10lber. I guess she was quite long though. My friend is very slight and had no probs at all.

It's such a hard thing to predict.

At the end of the day you must do what you feel comfortable with as it's your birth experience an your baby

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 01/04/2007 17:17

Diva, what is going on, if you don't mind me asking? Is it how he's behaving? What is he doing that makes you anxious?

muppethasakitten · 01/04/2007 18:32

Yes Diva... what problems are you seeing?

I know that i've been guilty of over analysing things at times with my dh... especially in the aftermath of having a baby...

... but at the same time, if there is something truly wrong you need to try and sort things out for your own sake.

Kitty - glad you've had some sort of positive experience with the cranial osteopath... did your ds1 have a bad mmr reaction then?? What did the cranial osteopath reckon they were doing to help it?

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 01/04/2007 18:45

Muppet, after he had the MMR he just 'shut down' it's the only way I can descibe it. He stopped eating, stopped growing, stopped trying to speak. He developed terrible runny poos, I mean every poo was vile.
We were refered to the childen's hopital, had to keep diaries etc, but no one could find what the prob was.
In desperation I took him to a cranial osteopath. He said that there was severley reduced movement of fluid in his brain and that everything was really 'tight'. He also said that his little body had recently had a HUGE shock happen to it and it seemed to have just shut down.
He said he had seen many cases like this with children after the MMR.
Who knows? He did get better. I could often see marked improvements after each session.
Suffice to say none of my others have had that jab.

muppethasakitten · 01/04/2007 19:04

blimey kitty.... that's bloody food for thought... have any of the others had the vaccines as single doses?

thank god he improved though - poor little mite - i'll defo be taking Samuel to the cranial osteopath but for the life of me can't understand the processes involved... still if it works hey?

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 01/04/2007 19:35

Muppet, none have had had even single vaccines.

It's certainly worth a try, not a fast fix though, alteernative stuff rarely is but at least you feel as if you're doing something eh?

Jaysecond · 01/04/2007 19:53

muppet, posted on the antenatal thread re osteopath.

Kitty, sounds like a sweep, any news to report yet?

How many are left?

Had my brothers christening today, it was a lovely day, and the weather held good too. Am going to look at naming ceremonies in more detail now, will check back in a bit xxx

Mossie · 01/04/2007 20:05

Still here...

I keep trying to comfort myself with the thought that, were I French, my EDD wouldn't be until Tuesday!

However... tmi alert ... I did have the runs before. Given I've been constipated for the last couple of days, I wondered if it could be my body clearing out prior to labour? Having said that it could just be dodgy BBQ food! Dh is fine though and he had the same stuff. Haven't really felt much, the odd twinge, more than last week, but nothing that I could say actually hurt or anything like that.

Diva I'm afraid I'm useless with any advice as I know nothing about blokes with new babies yet. But from all the things you've said about your dp while you were pg, he does sound like a nice chap, as Kitty says could he just be struggling getting his head around having a newborn in the house?

Kitty / Muppet that sounds a bit about the MMR vaccine, it seems so strange that you have to make so many decisions about things like that for such a tiny person, so soon!

Lunar I can imagine it must be a worry about his weight. Weird though how it is in different parts of the country, I haven't once been given a proper estimate of his weight. "Bonny" was they most they'd tell me!

Right I'm putting the plastic sheet on my bed tonight just in case Bertie decides tonight's the night! Doubt it... but you never know! I'd love to ring the hospital tomorrow, not to arrange my sweep, but to say, "I'm coming in... get the pool ready!"

Mossie · 01/04/2007 20:09

Jay what kind of naming ceremony are you thinking of?

I was thinking about a civil ceremony, at Liverpool Register Office (where dh & I married) but I haven't decided yet. I bet my mates would just see it as a cynical way to get prezzies out of them!! Let me know what you find out!!
