Well I don't think we should impose at Mrsshuvels until she gets new washing machine - she might get us hand washing

My ikle stretchmarks from being pregnant with DS didn't appear until the final week - Which was the week he was overdue I might add! Imagine how upset I was...

I do honestly think it was down to Palmers (I used the cocoa butter and stretch mark cream, tho not at the same time). Has anyone tried Bio-oil? I'm too tight to spend that much money.

tokentotty · 15/03/2007 15:07

Ah good point Wash, there's usually an open house policy in operation round here so I see no reason not to extend it. Could even lay on old Ma TT's cheesecake by way of hospitality. And currently all appliances in full working order.
Wash you must have fab skin to have no stretchmarks 'til you were overdue. Will attempt to apply Palmers with much more regularity now thanks to your advice. Do you think I should go for the cocoa butter lotion too ?

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 15:11

I have always used the cocoa butter since I was a teenager anyway, but used it in pregnacy when I ran out of the stretch mark cream

My skin isn't that good really - I DO have stretchmarks from puberty around my hips (although obv they are very faded these days)

jem1969 · 15/03/2007 15:16

I've been rubbish at using anything for stretch marks so far.

Are you all doing your pelvic floor exercises as well??

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 15:18

Good point Jem, never mind my stretchmarks - DH won't want to come near me if I pee everytime I laugh or sneeze!

Am relying on sex to exercise mine

stevie74 · 15/03/2007 15:26

HI Mrsshuvel, Darent Valley is near Blue Water, Dartford, Kent. I have heard it is very nice

jem1969 · 15/03/2007 15:26

can't be botherered with sex so will have to start doing the exercises I suppose!

DH keeps wondering when the 'gagging for it stage' is going to to kick in...

katybird · 15/03/2007 15:37

Hi everyone, out of work this morning at my booking-in appointment (at 17 weeks!) so just catching up on all the new messages. Midwife was lovely but she couldn't find a heartbeat, didn't seem worried but I'm a bit nervous now! Got 20-week scan in three weeks so fingers crossed.

Also got itchy nipples, glad it's not just me!

conkertree · 15/03/2007 16:05

dh is keen to get using some cream (not that i am showing signs of stretchmarks) so i will suggest getting some palmers.

have to say jem - i am feeling a little bit of the 'gagging for it' at times - not always, but from time to time and more than before i was pg, and definately 100% more than in the 1st trimester. sorry if too much information - particularly to purplerabbit. but then she's not on that often so she will maybe miss this post.

Mrsshuvel · 15/03/2007 16:09

I think there must be something wrong with me. I was 'gagging for it' in the 1st trimester but not that bothered now.

tokentotty · 15/03/2007 16:22

Have been told that if 'gagging for it' it's more likely to be a boy and if you're a bit off it expect a girl.... Sadly for my DH this is seeming to definitely be a girl

jem1969 · 15/03/2007 16:32

Is that true? I'm convinced I'm having a boy but maybe not...Poor DH- no son and no sex! (not that he'd mind a daughter but if he HAD to choose I think he'd like a boy. Have told him that even a boy might not like rugby and mountain climbing like him but he's sure they will...)

tokentotty · 15/03/2007 16:35

lol, men are funny aren't they. Them and their bloomin' man egos. Having said that DH said he'd love a girl too which made me happy as I mentioned before, Betty the Midwife's guess from the heartbeat was for a girl. Then again, he's such a Mummy's boy that I think he's reckoning on getting a Daddy's girl....

pinkranger · 15/03/2007 16:36

well, im not giving it away either, poo poor dh hasnt had it for .......... about 17 weeks and he is being veryu good about it, because i hav had a m/c before and bleed early on with this pg, i have just been a no go and now i dont fancy it , and when i do get to a stage when " gagging for it" dh then says no as its to weird!!!

katybird · 15/03/2007 16:37

DP is the same, he wants a boy to play footy with but he says even if it's a girl she'll play too. Hopefully the pushy parent in him will die down once the baby comes!

I'm off sex too, wonder if the girl thing's true? Hopefully find out at the next scan.

tokentotty · 15/03/2007 16:38

Oh and Katy, glad you had your booking appt (finally !!). Don't worry about no hearing the heartbeat, can be difficult for loads of reasons apparently and I'm sure next time you will definitely.
Welcome to the itchy nipples gang though !

conkertree · 15/03/2007 17:00

I was very keen for a girl a few weeks ago, but since we have come up with a boys name that we like, i am equally happy with both. I know that sounds stupid and i'm sure we'd have come up with a good name eventually anyway, but it does make me much more relaxed about having either. I have a gut feeling that its a boy though.

katybird · 15/03/2007 17:02

Thanks TT, baby must be hiding today! Glad to get the blood tests ot of the way, I hate having blood taken because they always struggle to find a vein.

Itchy nipples, no sex, stretchmarks - what fun!

stretchmarks · 15/03/2007 17:29

HI All,

Been a busy day on here again today. I'm a no sex, itchy nips as well as a bout of thrush and atheletes foot so I am a walking itchy mess - no wonder sex is off the agenda lol

My stretchmarks didn't appear until the end of pregnancy with DS who was 10 days late and 8lbs 8 when born. Do regret the very cocky attitude fairly late in pregnancy when telling friends that I didn't have any and had read that olive toned skin is less prone obviously not immune though !!!!

Pink - interesting to read your comments about the hospital do you think it has changed alot since your ds1 was born. When I had a bleed the other week I rang 2 hospitals to try and get hold of a midwife it never seemed this bad when I had DS1.

pinkranger · 15/03/2007 17:37

i moved around alot with ds so never really had the same midwifes but even so all the different ones i had were great ( apart from one on my home visit after ds was born and told me "to stop BF it wwasnt working" but they always turned up when they should , and were great on the labour ward - it was a different hos!
I know they said yesterday that because of cost they have had to put the post and pre natal wards together!!!

they also cancelled my mw app thiis week as she is on annual leave and no one else to doit, so i havent been seen by a midwife since 7 weeks -Bloody NHS

stretchmarks · 15/03/2007 18:13

I never had the same midwife twice with DS although they were all nice did get a bit peeved in the hospital after he was born as I was breastfeeding and he was usettled during the night they were desperate for me to give him a bottle or some forumla. I remember 1 midiwfe also came round and said lie in bed cuddling him then another midwife came round and said what's this he should be in his cot !!!! Was glad to get home.

I've had a similar issue with my local mw here not sure if it is because of shortages or the fact they we are living in a village now but if she's on holiday that seems to be it no oe else there.

Glad to hear you're going for a home birth. I'm still planning on the midwife unit but hoping that SIL will still be in the uk so I can take my own midwife with me !!!!!!

boobooma · 16/03/2007 08:43

Hi everyone. Hello Alexmum, we're due the same day. Anyone else been getting acid heartburn. Ive had it most nights the past week and gone back to buying big bottles of yop, much more palatable than gaviscon.

Uki · 16/03/2007 10:17

Morning All

Re: Stretch makes, last pg i didn't think i got any, then after ds was born, i found them under where the bump was. I don't think I mosturised much there either, because it was hard to reach. But they did fade a bit.

Speaking of all things pg related. Am i the first to mention pelvic floor exercises. I thought i did plenty of these last pg, but obviously not enough as I have slight problem when sneezing and have a full bladder, too much info I know, but i hope i scare you into doing them.

10 x 10 a day should be a good start. Just call me "Major PL yes sir"

conkertree · 16/03/2007 10:52

yes sah.

will start doing them - i just never know if i'm doing them right. have read the whole - pretend its a lift and stop at every floor, but still not entirely sure its the right way.

Washersaurus · 16/03/2007 11:13

Don't make it a chore ladies...I've heard masturbation and orgasm are the best exercise for the pelvic floor muscles - That is what I've been telling DH anyway
