I have to say MrsShuvel that I think it might be worth paying more for a Bosch or LG one as I hear they are very reliable and last for years, whereas all the ones I have had have only lasted a couple of years. I wish I'd had the money to get one this time!

Mrsshuvel · 15/03/2007 14:09

I was looking at the Bosch ones as i agree with you about having one that will last. He's talking about an all singing all dancing meile (not sure if that's spelt right)that costs over £1000!

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 14:10

God, don't I go on?!!

Just wanted to recommend a book that I read first time around that really helped me prepare for childbirth, it is called 'The New Experience of Childbirth' by Sheila Kitzinger.

It is not hypnosis or anything but has loads of really good tips for relaxation and coping with labour etc

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 14:11

Miele would have been WAAAAAY out of my budget

jem1969 · 15/03/2007 14:21

I wish I could feel something. Nearly 18 weeks and haven't felt a thing (apart from excessive wind...maybe there's so much gas inside me that even though it's kicking away I can't feel anything!). 1st baby though so I think it can take longer to feel something??

I would second the Bosch option...

Mrsshuvel · 15/03/2007 14:22

It's way out of our budget too, but because i handle all the money (as he is so rubbish with it) and always manage to have money ready if something crops up he thinks its always available for anything. He doesn't realise the juggling that goes on. It's the only thing that infuriates me about him. He can't just go and have his hair cut. He has to go to the place that has won awards and costs a fortune where i go to the little salon down the road twice a year. He seems to think that because he works hard and earns good money that he should be entitled to have the things he wants. He doesn't understand that to live in the house we have it costs and there are little things called bills that increase everytime you get a statement. Aaagghh sorry everyone just needed to vent!

tokentotty · 15/03/2007 14:24

I mentioned about Hypnobirthing on our other thread I think and posted what a friend of mine said. she's just had her second session is really into it. In april there's a talk on the subject at my office which I'm going to go to so I'll let you know what happens...

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 14:24

mrsshuvel vent away!

Do you live in a palace? Can we all come around for tea?

jem1969 · 15/03/2007 14:27

TT

You must be in a very enlightened investment bank to have a talk on hypnobirthing....

Mrsshuvel · 15/03/2007 14:29

I wish! Its only a 3 bed victorian terrace but the prices in our area sky rocketed along with council tax and everything else but you can all come round for tea anyway. Now who was it that makes the fairy cakes?

Feel better for venting now anyway, means i won't rip his head off later with one of my hormonal mood swings

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 14:30

That was me!!!!

Have to admit tho that this weeks muffin experiment was a bit of a disaster

itchyncsratchy · 15/03/2007 14:30

I was about to suggest Bosch, I never had any problems with it
Try using Aveeno for dry itchy skin, that and Palmers Stretch mark cream are working for me. I have the worst stretch marks ever from ds1, 2 weeks overdue 9 pounds 8oz and mastitis! my poor skin didn't stand a chance!

pinkranger · 15/03/2007 14:31

i make the ones out of a box

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 14:31

.... a 3 bed victorian terrace is a palace compared to my 2 bed one

itchyncsratchy · 15/03/2007 14:33

hypno sounds very exciting has heard positive feedback from mums who've used it during birth?

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 14:33

I would also recommend Palmers - for everything! DS was also overdue but I think partly due to my fastidious moisturising twice a day I escaped with only a few teeny tiny stretch marks. I hope I am as lucky this time.

Mrsshuvel · 15/03/2007 14:34

It's more like a doss house at the moment with all the washing that needs doing!

Mrsshuvel · 15/03/2007 14:35

I use Palmers - highly recommend it

itchyncsratchy · 15/03/2007 14:35

oops that should be question, has anyone heard positive feedback from hypno users?

stevie74 · 15/03/2007 14:41

Hi all, haven't been on for a while but just had a quick catch up. Glad everyone is progressing nicely.
I finally had my booking in appointment yesterday - at 16+4! Everything is fine, babies heart heard etc & I have to say it was the nicest experience of a midwife i've had so far (x2DD's already)
They have recommended a home birth as this is my 3rd which sounds great, but have to convince DP the same. Don't particulary want to go into hosp & will refuse to go to Lewisham or Kings (my doc's locals) due to past experience so am looking further afield to Darent Valley. Anyone been there yet?

Washersaurus · 15/03/2007 14:41

My midwife constantly sings the praises of hypnobirthing - she is quite refreshing as is always very keen to support people wishing to do things more naturally

Mrsshuvel · 15/03/2007 14:43

Hi Stevie

I refused Lewisham and opted for St Thomas'. Where's Darent Valley?

tokentotty · 15/03/2007 14:52

Jem - I know !! Very right on at my place. Big parents network thingy going on that I'm just starting to look at. They have all manner of people who come in to give talks and introductions to stuff. My midwife was really pleased when I said I was planning hypnobirthing as she was going recommend it.
Question: When do people normally start seeing/getting stretchmarks then? Just went to check what I've been using and am very pleased to see it's Palmers too so at least I've got something right. Am a bit hit and miss with it's application I must admit so I guess I should try and be a bit more diligent...
More important things - would love to come to tea Mrsshuvel and eat Wash's fairy cakes !

Mrsshuvel · 15/03/2007 14:57

Good good we can all compare bumps, itchy nipples and stretchmarks, fantastic

pinkranger · 15/03/2007 14:57
