Hey GillL, yup, think we'll be finding out what flavour as DH is adamant he wants to know. I'm relaxed, but happy to go along with him as we're both convinced it's a girl so probably better to clear it up before getting a big shock at the end! Either way we don't care at all but he definitely wants to find out.
Oooh Jem...nothing like knowing your DH was a big baby to give you confidence as the weeks pass eh? do you know what your birth was too?
The way I've found to help DH feel movements is the minute I feel something, I take his hand and apply it low down on my bump with slight pressure. This seems to work for us and also I get him to lean in and talk a bit which can also get Peanut jumping.

tokentotty · 02/04/2007 13:04

Jem - that was supposed to be birth WEIGHT obviously...

Hersetta · 02/04/2007 13:21

Hi TT,

glad you had a great time - I'm off on Thursday with my scan the following Thursday.

Think my bump might be develoing at last - or is just about to! My tummy is pretty pink and feels like I've been sunburnt - same for my chest area as well though So I don't really know.

Spent yesterday or nursery stuff. Finally managed to get the room cleared and went and bought wooden flooring and paint. One coat down - one to go. It's looking good though.

Can't think about prams yet. Having a hard enough time deciding wether to go for a blind or curtains !!

tokentotty · 02/04/2007 13:28

Hey Hersetta, nice to hear you're going to get away too, where are you off to ? At least like me you have the knowledge that if your holiday goes too quickly it means your scan will be here that quickly too.
Well done on getting your nursery organised. Mine probably won't even be done by the time the baby comes but am not overly concerned to be honest. I've decided to use my old bedroom (we live in my family home that I was raised in from when my parents got me) but it's currently our 'garage/shed' as we don't have one so all the stuff from my previous house has been dumped in there, lawnmower, the lot ! Fortunately DH is getting the family together over Easter to start building a new summerhouse at the bottom of the garden for all the stuff to go in so hopefully at some point Peanut will have it's own room...

BabyMadwithBump · 02/04/2007 13:33

Just tuck a pic of bump let me know what you think I feel big do i look big?

conkertree · 02/04/2007 13:34

we were the same last night tt - the baby definately moved more when dh got down to its level and talked to it. was really nice cause now dh can feel there is a connection with him too.

conkertree · 02/04/2007 13:36

thats a great bump babymad - i'd be very proud of that if it were mine

BabyMadwithBump · 02/04/2007 13:39

I am proud but feel so big!

Hersetta · 02/04/2007 13:46

Going back to my Mum's in Spain for 5 days so praying for good weather.

babymad - great bump!

tokentotty · 02/04/2007 14:15

Babymad your bump looks lovely. Mine's big and very, very obvious now. Mind you, just took a couple of new pics to send to friend in Oz and I see my arse is too.... Ah well.
Fingers crossed for the weather in Spain for you Hersetta. It rained for us from Monday night 'til we woke up to sunshine on Friday

GillL · 02/04/2007 14:39

Talking of nurseries not being ready TT, I think my dh takes the prize for taking the longest. DD was 2 just over a week ago and she is still in our room! DH is only decorating her room now that baby number 2 is on the way. Otherwise she would probably still be with us when she goes to school. He needs deadlines. Our living room only got decorated in time for dd to be born. Otherwise we would still be sitting in a bare plaster room with no curtains and skirting boards. I insisted that people couldn't come to visit us in a room like that.

tokentotty · 02/04/2007 14:43

Oh GillL that definitely takes the biscuit! Have you stayed calm throughout these two years and barely mentioned it.....

GillL · 02/04/2007 14:50

I find that it doesn't get me anywhere to nag him about it. I have mentioned it a few times but even though he has good intentions, he just really can't be bothered. We've had a partially tiled bathroom for the best part of 3 years. He has promised me that it will be finished by the end of the year but I'm not holding my breath

tokentotty · 02/04/2007 14:57

Oh dear.... I don't envy you at all. In both my previous houses we had to do absolutely everything and it took years and years of living in crap before they were finished, usuall when moving. On my first house, the day I had the last carpets fitted I sold it, and with the last one we again only finally finished it in time to get the estate agents round to put it up for sale as we were moving.

GillL · 02/04/2007 15:05

I bet that was galling having lovely new carpets and not being able to enjoy them! I envisage getting our bedroom decorated just in time to sell. It would be so nice to have the house nicely decorated and be able to appreciate it for a few years. When we moved into our house we decided it was liveable but not to our taste. The rooms were bright yellow, bright green, pink, purple... you get the picture. We naiively thought it would be easy to just strip the wallpaper and put some new wallpaper up. We didn't realise the existing wall paper was hiding terrible walls, all of which needed replastering.

Is your current house finished the way you wanted it?

tokentotty · 02/04/2007 15:45

Yes, the naive idyll that upon removing offensive wallpaper a quick sanding and a couple of coats of paint was with me too at first...sigh.... This was soon proved to be a load of old bollox to me on house number one I must say. Think you just need to patch in the plaster on 1 square metre of wall ? Think again - the whole room will be blown, need smashing off and re-doing along with everything else in the room.
Fortunately as I already owned my current house for a long time before moving in we did it all up. there was no way we could face living through it all again especially as we did a massive loft conversion and renovated the entire house. Was the first time DH hadn't done it all himself but was very glad when it was finished. It is all done in a very plain and basic way as we were in a rush to move having sold our other house. Now he spends weekends doing a lot of bits and pieces that are needed but not urgent. Is such a change of life !

growingbagpuss · 02/04/2007 16:19

I know the feeling - ds1's bedroom has never been decorated and he still shares it with half our clothes - he had the computer in with him til he was 1!!

Now bean on way - and only 2 bed house... only just getting architect to do plans for extension......!!!

Ds was born just after xmas, and on xmas day we were grouting our new kitchen tiles!! - whilst cooking turkey - god I'm a domestic godess!

GillL · 02/04/2007 16:29

Sounds like an interesting xmas day growingbagpuss.

Nice that you can take your time to decorate TT. DH wanted a house that he could do up. He obviously underestimated his lack of motivation. He's very good at doing diy but needs a lot of encouragement.

I must say I'm going to miss having dd in our room after 2 years of sharing. I'm so used to being able to look over to make sure she's ok. It will be nice to get 2 drawers back in my chest of drawers for my own clothes. Not long though and the room will be taken over again - in a good way though.

tokentotty · 02/04/2007 16:40

GillL - I'm still not sure there would ever have been a DD/S 2 if number one was still in the room with me !!!! Lol, only joking.
I must say that my DH can be extremely motivated and is also excellent at getting things done. Is more normal that I'm asking him not to spend all weekend working on house stuff so we can do something more fun together.

BabyMadwithBump · 02/04/2007 16:56

My DS#2 use to sleep in our room from the day he was born and he woke every 3 hours, would feed for an hour, would take me another 40/50 mins to get him to sleep and then woke again just over an hour later this was right up till he was 7 months old, I had enough and put him in his own room, from day ONE him sleeping in his own room he slept though the night, DH is already getting LO room done for me so I can put/try LO in his/her own room if kept awake most of the night like DS#2. Ds#1 was so differant from 3/4 week he slept though the night weather he was in his our room or not. LO ones room has been put on holed a little due to LO put s/he hands over his or her bits at the 20 week scan, if baby is a boy room is going light blue and light green and girl peach and lemon but gloss work is being striped back at the mo and being painted white, shouldn't take that long after that abit of paint, walls are good as they were done and papered when DS#2 was a baby, now 2DS are sharing a room since later year which they love!

GillL · 02/04/2007 16:57

Would be nice to have a happy medium eh

kiteflying · 02/04/2007 18:06

Hi all. Hope you all had a good weekend. TT welcome back from your holiday!

My, I cannot believe how fast we have all travelled from discussing morning sickness to maternity clothes to painting the nursery!! You are all most organised and admirable women.

My news of the day is enough to show how behind I am in things - I have actually found a hospital that (a) I don't hate the thought of and (b) has not so far refused to let me in. We visited the Royal Free yesterday and that's it for me - I am booking in to the birth suite there. Clean, modern and swarming with friendly midwives. I had a GP try to talk me into going to the Whittington last Wednesday and I actually woke up from a nightmare at three am and sobbed for some time making myself a cup of tea.

We are having the baby in with us for the first six months so I won't be decorating a nursery - much as I love those M&P nursery fittings!!

If Katybird is around - I was at the ABC yoga class last night and may have spotted you but everyone madly dashed off afterwards? Must be a Sunday night thing.

lovelybird · 02/04/2007 18:23

Hi all,

I'm still poorly with fluey thing, went to emergency doc's on Saturday and was diagnosed with flu/ear&throat infection/Conjunctivitis x2. Thankfully he did give me some antibiotics and promised me they were safe for bubba. Still feel crappy and have a hacking cough which is driving me insane also. Still off work with it!

On the good news front though - went for our 20+ week scan today, everything looked well and the baby was so active but it does wriggle non-stop. We found it it's ........
boy! So chuffed and excited, already have a DS so super excited at having another. Scan was wonderful and so amazing, both V emotional. Haven't stopped smiling yet!

katybird · 02/04/2007 23:19

Sorry you're not feeling well lovelybird, but the scan must have cheered you up! Got ours on Thursday, v excited.

Kiteflying - sorry I missed you at yoga, I was bursting for the loo at the end and when I came back everyone had gone! Will definitely talk next time. Nice that there were a few of us who aren't so far along.

tokentotty · 03/04/2007 10:26

Morning all, hope everyone's well and you're feeling miraculously better lovelybird?
Am so relieved that you've found a hospital you're feeling ok about. Get on the phone today and get booked in ! Will be such a relief to get a consultant, midwife, scans etc won't it ?
Well done to you and Katybird on getting on with the yoga. Have been given a number for a class that's relatively close to me but keep forgetting to call up as between DH's last round of decorating and MIL's 'tidying up' the bit of paper has gone missing, tch!
