Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
conkertree · 23/03/2007 12:01

morning everyone

mrsshuvel - my friend was rhesus negative and she had to get injections for it - cant remember how often but she never found it to be a problem - just one of these things you have to do (suppose its fine as long as you havent got a needle phobia).

was getting a little worried with everyone thinking its better to be big than small as some of the measurements at my 20 week scan were on the small side - but then also thinking that to get an average you obviously have to have big and small babies, and as long as its in the normal range, either is nothing to worry about.

got a text message from dh saying "can't believe my mum" so will no doubt find out later what she's done this time.

also lookign forward to seeing the dress tt - looked really lovely on the website.

kiteflying · 23/03/2007 12:32

Afternoon all - sounds like everyone well. Sorry about your news MrsShuvel - even if it is common and hopefully nothing to worry about it can't be nice to have all those injections.

TT - I looked at those hammocks before I did my baby budget and decided they were a bit expensive. Also, I read a story on a US site about a woman whose son had tiny metal filings fall into his eyes from the hook - and was in intensive care etc etc drama. I am neurotic enough for both of us I suspect and I am sure for one story like that there are hundreds of happy babies. I wanted one because apparently they are great for non-sleepers.

There is Brazilian make of hammock called Koala which also doubles as a travel cot. It does sit quite low on the ground though. I like the sound of the pop-ups myself.

Conker - sorry about in-laws. No-one rang me after my twelve week scan but then COMPLAINED that I had not rung them to tell them the news.

I am starting to get bump envy. I am still just a jelly belly at seventeen weeks plus three. Everyone sounds very big to me. I guess I am the only one that is still sick as well so I will just mope in the corner here.

TT - I have not received your email? Did you send it?

kiteflying · 23/03/2007 12:40

Also agree with washer that you can get moses baskets quite cheaply and always in good condition as no one uses them for more than four to six months.

tokentotty · 23/03/2007 12:59

Hey Kite, sent the mail now - had it in my drafts folder for some reason..... Going to get some lunch now I think but will try on dress afterwards.

kiteflying · 23/03/2007 14:43

Do I just kill this thread every time I log one? Or is it just that everyone else is having a more pleasant Friday afternoon than I am?
I hope it is the pleasant Friday afternoon effect

Hersetta · 23/03/2007 14:44

I only had my blood tests done yesterday but I know that I am rhesus negative as we gave ourselves blood group tests when i was doing A level biology. Sigh, I guess that means more visits to the hospital and more time off work. Oh well, can't be helped.

tokentotty · 23/03/2007 14:47

Ahhh poor you Kite !!! Have been busy in toilets taking photos....
Am now officially 'Gutted of Mumsnet'. Dress is without reservation going back. I think it's absolute rubbish, am so disappointed. Will pop a picture on in a sec.

kiteflying · 23/03/2007 14:58

TT there is a nice looking Crave dress in brown on ebay - size 8. Maybe check it out?

kiteflying · 23/03/2007 15:02

oh I jsut realised they are still selling it at Crave so you must have already considered it. doh.

tokentotty · 23/03/2007 15:09

Hadn't noticed it but just looked at it now and I definitely like it. Unfortunately has been a long, long time since I was a size 8 otherwise I think I'd be on ebay bidding like a demon. TCH !!
Honestly, am so underwhelmed by this bloomin' frock I can't tell you. Oh, and can't load up the picture to show you for some reason either. Will keep trying.

kiteflying · 23/03/2007 15:14

sorry about your disappointment. you could always part exchange part refund for the other one and see if it is better. Or maybe head to the shop in Battersea one lunch hour when you are back?

tokentotty · 23/03/2007 15:15

Am just gonna send it straight back I think and mooch around elsewhere for now. Am extremely glad I was sensible for once in my life and did something early so I didn't have this 2 days before the wedding or something !

tokentotty · 23/03/2007 15:17

Pics on if anyone wants to look. Thought I'd taken a front view one too but that's not on my phone and I can't be bothered to put it on again !

katybird · 23/03/2007 15:19

Hi everyone, not on for long but nice to catch up with all the news. Sorry about the dress TT, I've given up ordering anything online after huge disappointments from funmum. Have to force myself to try everything on in the shop from now on!
Kiteflying - I too am still a jelly belly, starting to think the baby is either a dwarf or has disappeared entirely, so glad I'm not the only one! Sure we'll look back with envy in a few months when we're the size of a house.
Have a good weekend everyone x

lizziemun · 23/03/2007 15:20

kiteflying

No your not the only one who is still feeling sick, I am to also am 17weeks.

Feel sick if i haven't eaten, then when i eat something i also feel sick. I don't think i have eaten a full meal for weeks, great isn't, i didn't feel like this when pg with dd.

Can anyone give me a idea where i can buy a reasonable price for maternity jeans, one's that go over the bump.

kiteflying · 23/03/2007 15:27

Ah katybird and lizziemun - my fellow seventeen weekers, thanks for your support.

Lizziemun - I have exactly the same "causes" and effects and it seems like a wave every afternoon that I have to ride out. So frustrating. I eat rice and other carbs (can't eat bread at all) as a preventative measure but it is not entirely effective and only makes me worry about weight gain. Fried food and spicey stuff are still off the list entirely, so maybe the scales will balance.

Katybird, I also had a bad experience of funmum. For jeans, have you tried H&M? If you are brave there are some topshop and H&M jeans on ebay all the time quite cheaply but you are probably wise to go into H&M.

Mrsshuvel · 23/03/2007 15:27

TT - I don't think it's that bad. What exactly don't you like?

Hersetta - we'll have to start a new club as we already have the itchy nipples one.

Lizziemum - I got some that go under the bump in Mothercare for £20 but i noticed they had the over bump ones too. They had lovely looking jeans in H&M, although they didn't fit me properly. My legs are too meaty for skinny jeans even if they are maternity ones.

katybird · 23/03/2007 15:30

I got my jeans from H&M, fairly cheap (sorry, can't remember exactly, but I think under £30). Topshop apparently do some good ones but I don't know if they go over the bump. JoJo Maman Bebe have some in their catalogue for £29, and you get a Mumsnet discount if you order from them too.

Sorry you're still feeling sick (and kiteflying too).

tokentotty · 23/03/2007 15:30

To be honest Mrsshuvel - it's really cheapy!! Also utterly see through which I don't think will be the greatest of looks at 34 weeks pregnant..... And it's really long. I know I'm no supermodel but am 5'5" and it was almost on my ankles.

Mrsshuvel · 23/03/2007 15:32

Thats such a shame. It looked so glamorous on the website. I hate that - when you buy something expensive and it doesn't live up to the expectation.

katybird · 23/03/2007 15:32

Mrsshuvel - I had exactly the same problem with H&M skinny jeans, I couldn't even get the ones in my normal size up to my thighs! Went for boyfriend style ones instead.

kiteflying · 23/03/2007 15:35

oh boyfriend style jeans are supposed to be the thing this year anyway aren't they?

tokentotty · 23/03/2007 15:40

Erm....could someone enlighten an incredibly untrendy TT as to what boyfriend jeans are?

Hersetta · 23/03/2007 15:45

Mrs, sure why not another club. I'm in the itchy nips and RH negative ones with you and the no bump one with Kite and Katy. Never been so popular !!

Sorry about the dress TT - you're right, doesn't look like the cataloge photo at all.
