Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pinkranger · 22/03/2007 14:38

no, im not relgious either way but family seem to obessed about " Noah and the Ark' when i told them, i said at least he will be caring , and own his own boat

Mrsshuvel · 22/03/2007 14:42

Lol @ own boat Pink

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 14:44

Oh no, I really, really wouldn't worry about that in the slightest to be honest. I haven't heard loads of kids called it but have heard lots of people saying how much they like it.
Although if it was in my family I would buy him a new boat every birthday to wind you up....but that's just me Oooh, could buy him a new pair of animals every Christmas too !!! Can I be his Godmother?????

pinkranger · 22/03/2007 14:53

of course you can TT!!

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 14:57

Hi everyone, have been trying to catch up with goings on today but am a bit vacant today so please excuse me if I miss anyone.

TT - strange dream (amusing tho) - I'm sure it wasn't an omen - more likely just nerves as pregnancy rolls on!

Kite - I didn't really get on with prefolds either (they ended up used as burping cloths, on change mats etc).

I agree with Loler and would also recommend shaped nappies - although I am yet to try bamboo. Definitely good idea to buy different sorts 2nd hand from nappy lady classifieds or MN, until you find some you like!

I would recommend starting with cloth nappies ASAP after baby born as I know of quite a few people that didn't bother after they started with disposables. It really isn't that much extra work with all the extra washing you will be doing anyway

I think I last saw my midwife at 16 weeks and not due to again until 28 wks which I think is a very long time indeed. I'm sure I had more appts when I was pregnant with DS.

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 14:59

Super !!!! Right, need to make plans. Think as a celebration of birth it'll be a pair of elephants first, closely followed by kangaroos at christening....
Now, where did I leave those boat blueprints I had ?????

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:00

Well I like Noah and I think a boat or some animals would be lovely presents - better than that horrible Dylan rabbit toy from the Magic Roundabout that FIL gave to DS when he was born.....WHICH I might add DS has been carrying around and feeding etc over the past few days - I will have to upload pic to scare you all with

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 15:00

Hey Wash, how's your lo today ?

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:03

Well I feel a bit bad actually

He has been fine all morning and ate loads of food with no ill effect so I took him to nursery this afternoon (Thurs is his half-day anyway). They nearly turned me away and then DS went all sad and clingy when I tried to go .

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:04

....he normally does that on a thursday at nursery for some reason. I think I should make it 2 full days to save confusion

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 15:06

so he gets really clingy and sad on a Thursday when it's half day but goes in fine on a Wednesday ?

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:07

The weird nursery days stem from when I was planning to return to work.....I changed my mind at the last minute but DS goes to nursery still because I think he gets so much out of it (and so do I )

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:09

Yes wednesday is no problem he doesn't even notice me leave he is so excited. But all the other children are asleep when we arrive on Thurs pm and he always gets sad

Mrsshuvel · 22/03/2007 15:09

Ahhh bless him

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 15:10

I think that sounds like a great idea for both of you to be honest. Just a shame he doesn't like his half day. Sounds like you're right and it just confuses him as he starts the day at home with you, rather the routine of getting up and going to nursery for the day.

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:10

People think I am really bad for sending him to nursery when I'm not working, but it gives me a chance to catch up on housework and have a bit of 'me' time.

I love my DH for letting me do this [big hearts emoticon]

Mrsshuvel · 22/03/2007 15:13

I don't have any experience of this as this is my 1st PG but i always thought that i would send my babies to nursey part time. It seems to me a good way for child to interact with other children. I know children that don't mix with others until they go to school. They are very selfish and don't know how to play or share. Like i said i don't have any experience but i think you are doing he right thing.

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 15:16

I completely agree with Mrsshuvel. I think it's very, very beneficial to both of you.

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:16

Aaaah thanks MrsShuvel - I like to think I'm doing the right thing. My sister has a daughter the same age as DS and her partner won't let her do anything..I mean ANYTHING (like even leaving the house unless it is domestically related). He thinks people who leave their kids are BAD BAD BAD

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:16

oooh and thanks TT obviously! typing to slow again

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 15:18

I think DP's who behave like that are BAD, BAD, BAD....

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:19

Ha ha my peaceful days off will be gone soon enough anyway, back to the days of not having a minute to pop to the loo

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:20

and 3 inches of dust around the house, and tumbleweed on the laminate

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:21

I really wasn't cut out to be a housewife

Washersaurus · 22/03/2007 15:22

Going back to names anyway...DH really likes the name Carter, but I'm afraid it might reek of chav - any opinions?
