Ouch !! Just back from pre-holiday hot wax torture, oh the joy.....
Anyway, that's good news on the mumomega. I'm going to try and get some today. Want me to grab some for you Jem and I'll send it on? Not a problem in the slightest.
As for antenatal appointments. I saw Betty at 14weeks, 18 weeks, I'm seeing the consultant at 23 weeks and then Betty again at 28 weeks.

Mrsshuvel · 22/03/2007 11:35

Been really busy at work so have loads to catch up on, just gonna have a quick read. Back in a mo.

Hersetta · 22/03/2007 11:41

I have consultants appointment this afternoon plus my routine 16 week blood tests (albeit 1 week late).

kiteflying · 22/03/2007 11:47

Morning all. Glad everyone is well. Conker - I love your names, especially Alice. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hersetta, all the best for your appointment.

kiteflying · 22/03/2007 11:57

mumtogeorge - thanks for the advice! I have always intended to go cloth nappy and I have toyed with the idea of EC, at least from six months on, but it seems rather daunting on top of everything being new to a new mother in the first place! That plus the relocate to Australia some time in baby's first year...hmmm.

It's the bewildering array of cloth that is stumping me. I have already bought some pre-folds to try out because they look the simplest and cheapest and if I can get by for a few months on them, all the better. But I will pitch up to the "nappy lesson" at my local nursery shop to hear about the rest, even though it will probably just sound like Greek to a non-mum.

I know I was a baby all the way long ago in the sixties (before disposables) but I was definitely out of nappies before two and have been surprised at how many toddlers are still in nappies at three and later. I hope this doesn't offend anyone on this thread.

EC evangelists seem to blame this on disposables never feeling uncomfortably wet to the baby, so the brain being "tuned out" to the right signals.

Mrsshuvel · 22/03/2007 11:59

Ok, apologies if i've missed anyone.

Hi Bambi and Luciousladylush.

TT - You'll have to let us know how the dress looks, so glad you bought it. Was in Gap in Oxford Street last week and lady said they are starting to do maternity clothes in June.

Kite - Love your names

Loler - I have only seen my Midwife once at 12 weeks. He said then that i would see him at 20 weeks but that is tomorrow and haven't heard from him. Will have to give him a ring i think.

Hersetta - Good luck with appointments.

Jem - Have a lovely break.

Mrsshuvel · 22/03/2007 12:02

Conker - Think Straun is a fab name. Haven't heard of it before but really like it.

kiteflying · 22/03/2007 12:16

Hersetta I wonder if the Jane prams might be a bit cheaper in Spain - maybe you should ask your Mum to use pram research as an outlet for her babylove?

Hersetta · 22/03/2007 12:30

Kite,

We have looked at prams actually and they are cheaper in Spain (around 300 euros for a full travel system - not that I want one). Didn't see any brands that I recognise but we only looked in one store. Will have a look in Toys R Us (hopefully they will have a Babies R Us section) when i go two weeks today. Yay!!

jem1969 · 22/03/2007 12:34

tt- thanks v much for mumomega offer but there's a much bigger boots quite near so i'm sure i can pick some up there

mrsshuvel- good news on gap maternity in uk.

meanwhile, better go- plane to catch!!

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 12:35

Have a FABULOUS time Jem !!!! Happy shopping

kiteflying · 22/03/2007 12:37

Jem haev a great time - walk around on the plane and drink loads

Mrsshuvel · 22/03/2007 13:11

We were looking at prams and buggies on the internet last night. As i'm off to Florida in a few weeks we wanted to see if they worked out any cheaper over there. The one we want worked out to be £100 cheaper. The only problem is paying to bring back the extra weight as it would have to be part of my luggage allowance. If i had a child already i might have got away with taking it for nothing. I suppose it depends how much i buy and how much everything weighs as to whether its worth it or not.

pinkranger · 22/03/2007 13:19

hi ladies , hope you are all well
jem - have a fab holiday, very
TT - enjoy yourself aswell , you are going on sat? or am i thinking of someone else?
Loler , cant belive your 12 week wait for your next midwife appointment? i had one yesterday ( im 18+2) and she want to see me at 25 weeks so thats in 7 weeks, not to bad i didnt think!

With regards to prams i have done something i didnt think i would ever do, i am going to use ds old pram. We got this 5 years ago from toys are us for £200 and it came with, CAr seat, raincover, cosytoes, apron. I had been looking at the silver cross ones for £279.00 but after a long talk with DH we decided when babe is 6 months get a nice lightweight maclearn pushchair as we got one of these for ds when he was 2 and it was the best thing ever!!! still going strong now!

we are going to put the money to "real nappies" instead which im sadley Very very excited about!

loler · 22/03/2007 13:34

I've got another sort of omega 3 oil and I can sort of taste it all day - not good for MS! Does any one find this with the mumomega?

I use cloth nappies on ds - find them really easy and not much extra work at all. I've got some prefolds and don't like them very much - OK when they're tiny but when they start to wriggle they're difficult to get on. My favourites are bamboozles - made from bamboo rather than cotton so they stay really soft. I'm a bit of a nappy addict and seem to have at least one of every type available! Who ever you ask will have a different opinion though - a good website for reviews is thenappylady.co.uk , they also have adverts for second hand nappies - some of which have never been used. I'll get off my soapbox now!

Have to say though that the age toddlers potty train is (like babies sleeping through) just luck - dd was in disposables and was dry day and night before 2. DS has always been in cloth - nearly 2 and looking like he'll be 5 before he's at all interested - the world is something that happens around him!!

Hey all,

Loler - I have to say that I taste absolutely nothing at all with the mumomega tablets so perhaps giving them a whirl would help all those with ms.
yup, back off to Spain Sat - hooray ! We were talking about you yesterday love, the old name conversation came up again and as always my dear, made me think of you and your DH....
Had the most bizarre dream on Saturday. Dreamt that Peanut came along very early and we had absolutely nothing ready at all. I came home from hospital with P wearing a white babygro and a nappy and that was all he/she had and the shops were shut so we couldn't get anything at all. I bf her as planned and then winded her and she was a bit sick so I had no choice (??!!) but to use a dishcloth to wipe her face. I had no nappies to use so was just having to check the one on was clean and then it all gets a bit vague but I'm pretty sure I put her to bed in a drawer.... Told DH about this the next morning and looked at me in horror saying "Oh my God, I nearly woke you up at 3am this morning to tell you to book us antenatal classes as I had a dream about Peanut coming realy early and I didn't know what to do with her". Weird huh

Mrsshuvel · 22/03/2007 14:02

Loler - I've been taking Pregnacare Plus. They have the Omega 3 in a seperate pill to the folic acid etc one. I don't get any bad taste from them. They are quite expensive though - about £12/£13 but i bought the 3 for 2 in boots too.

TT - Fingers crossed dreams don't come true in this case.

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 14:09

I know Mrsshuvel !! Although I can't imagine us not being able to buy even a few pampers in a 24hr petrol station in this day and age Think it would be quite sweet for Peanut to start out sleeping in a drawer - give her something to moan about when she's older. You know, "I was so hard done by, even when I was born they just stuck me in a drawer to sleep, bathed me in old washing up water using only a dishcloth to wipe me..."

pinkranger · 22/03/2007 14:14

lol at dish cloth !!!!!!!!

pinkranger · 22/03/2007 14:17

i did ask my dh if he has came up with any names latley, he just smiled at me! so that means a) really bad ones b) hasnt even thought about it!!

This is what happened last time and 4 weeks before struggle for a boys name!!

I have a new name that i love, well 2 but the first one isnt fair when they are older, jessies ( not sure how to spell it male way) and
Tate ???

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 14:27

Oh Pink, I really like Jesse too (am sure that's the boy spelling) and Tate's nice if it suits your surname. Mine's a one syllable name ending in T which really would not go with it. I think your DH's smile was definitely a Dr Evil mwahahahah kinda smile as in he's got a corker ready to wow you with soon....

pinkranger · 22/03/2007 14:29

jesse IS fab , im just worried aboutthem when they go to secondary as kids are mean!!!

I have a LONG surmane so i need it short/ish

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 14:31

I think it'd be fine. No-one calls anyone a 'jessie' anymore as far as I can tell. You just don't seem to hear it, so by the time our kids have grown up it'll just be a totally normal name

pinkranger · 22/03/2007 14:33

do agree with that!!
family sai with Noah that is a biblical name(which it is) but by the time ours goes to school there will be a few of them around!

if my ds is over reacting we do call him a Big jess, maybe we should stop that now

tokentotty · 22/03/2007 14:36

Have you got a 'no biblical names' deal going on then?
